I took this car for a test drive. The dealer said they had repaired a number of issues such as front end work, power steering hoses, and power steering fluid. They said it had passed a safety inspection. The dealer handed me a list of all the issues with the vehicle which they chose not to repair, which include: 1) vehicle driver door lock/unlock doesn't work 2) Driver sliding door doesn't work
... 3) beeping when turning on power sliding doors (Doesn't beep if you have it off), tpms light is on (needs sensors maybe? dont know), 4) rear wiper inop Those are direct quotes -- however, on the test drive I found several other issues which were alarming. 1) A bad wheel bearing in the right rear wheel was extremely loud, sounding like an airplane taking off on the highway, this was not mentioned in any way before test driving. 2) The brakes are weak and the rotors warped, pulsating during braking 3) The radio did not work and gave an "Error" code 4) the seat belts have very dark markings on them either from wear or mold 5) missing rear passenger side seat 6) broken rear ventilation (blower motor likely) I thought I should report this as it was not mentioned and upon checking online this is a serious safety issue. I am surprised they passed it. [XXX] This vehicle is STILL FOR SALE. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

I was involved in a severe front-end collision where my vehicle struck another vehicle with significant force. Despite the major impact, the front airbags did NOT deploy. The entire front end of the vehicle was crushed, including destruction of the radiator, damage to engine components, internal structural collapse, and leaking fluids. Based on the severity and direct frontal nature of the crash,
... airbags should have deployed but did not. As a result of the impact, I sustained a neck and upper shoulder injury and required medical evaluation. There were no warning lights or messages prior to the crash indicating any malfunction in the airbag or SRS system. This appears to be a possible failure of the airbag/SRS system during a qualifying collision.Read more

The incident happened on August 27, 2025, at about 8:30 in the morning when I was trying to park the car in a parking lot. As I came to the parking space to park the car with my foot on the brake pedal, the car accelerated all of a sudden after it had stopped before I could shift the gear lever to “Park”. The car went over the curb. I reversed and tried to park the car again in the same spot.
... The car accelerated again and went over the curb, and this time ended up going all the way to the two-way traffic road located ahead of the curb. Fortunately, there was no traffic on the road at that time and no pedestrian on the sidewalk, and no one got hurt. The car stopped in the middle of the road. I drove back to the parking lot and tried to park the car again in the same spot. This time the car stopped without any incident. The dashboard said, “System Malfunction” and said to take the car to the dealership. I drove to the Lexus dealership without any incident. There was significant damage in the front and both sides of the car. I told Lexus what had happened. A case manager was assigned. An inspector was sent to inspect the car. After the inspection, he sent me a report. The report was technical in nature and had graphs and data points without any explanation. I could not understand the report. He told me that the report was sent to Toyota and Toyota would get back to me after they had analyzed the data downloaded by him. Toyota sent me the report, and the report said that my foot was on the accelerator at that time and the car functioned properly. I am pretty sure that my foot was on the brake pedal at that time and not on the accelerator. Toyota was not willing to answer any questions I had and told me to get a second opinion. Currently, my car is in the auto body shop being repaired via my insurance. Even though, no further incident has happened to date, I am afraid that this could happen again in the future, possibly badly hurting or even killing people.Read more

I have a 2014 Impala limited I started having problems within 6 months after I bought the vehicle from Bergstrom Chevrolet in Wisconsin it was involving the ABS anti-lock stability track and traction control and the braking and steering we're all feeling and locking up while I was driving it presented and problems and endangering my life and the life of any passengers in the vehicle the brakes wil
... l lock up and there was no warning before I locked up no lights came on and it would pull to the left or pull to the right depending on which ABS was locking up and it was fixed one time at the dealership then it was fixed again at the dealership later maybe about another 3 to 6 months after and went up for the same thing again and the parts were replaced now I again have had nothing but problems with the braking system. Also the valve that controls the pressure in the fuel tank malfunctioned which caused the car to run irrraticaly it would start hard, stop running at all stops rough ideling and unable to pump gas into the car without the gas pump stopping continuously making the time that it would take to fill the gas tank 3 to 4 times longer than it did that was fixed and it is malfunctioning again. I'm on my fourth time of having my car anti-lock brake system failing on my car multiple systems including the electrical system failing. The dash lights would go off on. The exterior lights going off and on. The car has been off of the streets and unable to be driven many times. I have taken my car in to the Dealership from where I purchased it from. By the third time my car warranty had expired. Then everything was still not repaired all the systems were not ever working correctly. And now the repairs were needed to be paid in full by myself. The cost to me had just begun when it should have been resolved. In excess of $6,000 was what it would cost me the third time I had the Impala in for everything and now it's gone out again and I'm having to get this repaired.Read more

If you press both the brake and gas at the same time (even if accidental), the onboard computer apparently thinks that the driver is confused, and it sets the gas flow to “idle”. The first time this happened was on the freeway, and I was very lucky to be able to coast into a gas station (thinking that I simply running out of gas - even though the gas gauge showed plenty of gas remaining). And
... so, I took it to Christian Brothers automotive the next day, and they ran extensive (and expensive) diagnostics. They found (to their surprise!) that this is the way the latest CX-9 works! The computer sees that you are on the gas and brakes, and so it “thinks” that you must be confused. And so, it sets the gas to “idle”. I believe this is an extremely dangerous action for the computer to take, and this behavior needs to be removed from all CX-9's IMMEDIATELY! And please don't just say (as others have) that the driver "shouldn't press both the brake and accelerator at the same". One might use the brake and accelerator at the same time for good reason, such as an icy road. But the computer SHOULD NOT DECIDE ON ITS' OWN TO SET THE THROTTLE TO IDLE!Read more

My car has been making noises and no checks engine light for about 4 weeks now. It has started on October 19, 2025 and tomorrow will make 1 month. The noise starts when I press the brakes and when I drive. When merging on highways the car would delay start when I press the gas and then it’ll jump or stutter twice before moving which is dangerous because I’m merging on to highways. I’ve been
... to several shops and they’ve all told me it’s the transmission and I will need a complete new one. I continued driving my car because I have no way getting to and from work and today November 15, 2025, it broke down while on the highway with my daughter and husband in the car. I had to wait for my car to decide to start moving while others behind me swerved into the other lane because of the sudden stop all while hoping no one would crash into us. It turned on and we were able to move off to the side slowly and again it shut off. The check engine light finally came on and when the tow truck came the guy inspected the vehicle and said what everyone else said there is a transmission problem and it popped up and said something about the transmission and the brake system. As far as the brakes the mechanics said the brake hardware is rubbing against the rotor on the front left side and I can’t brake hard while driving or it’ll make a loud noise or a hard sudden stop. I have to press lightly and way ahead of time so that I don’t run into any issues. When searching online I saw that 2023 Honda Crvs do have transmission problems and it’s happened to several others. The sudden stops, noises, and complete replacement of their transmission. Plenty of others had it covered by warranty but what about the others that don’t have warranty. I have not replaced my transmission as of yet because the mechanics I usually go to is closed on weekends so I will be waiting until Monday. This is dangerous and crazy and Honda needs to do a major recall before someone actually gets hurt.Read more

While driving at highway speed on November 11, 2025, my 2021 Jeep Wrangler experienced a sudden and complete electrical failure without warning. A “Battery Saver Mode” message appeared, and within seconds multiple safety systems began shutting down. First Failure: While driving on the highway and exiting, the vehicle abruptly lost power steering, ABS, stability control, airbag system, exterio
... r lighting, dashboard displays, and engine power. Multiple warning lamps illuminated at once. Steering and braking became extremely difficult, creating an immediate safety risk. I was able to coast to a stop and park. The vehicle then appeared stable and the messages cleared. Second Failure: After restarting the vehicle, the warning reappeared. While driving on a major high-traffic roadway, the vehicle experienced a total electrical shutdown in active traffic and would not restart. Third Failure: A towing service attempted to jump-start the vehicle; it briefly powered on, illuminated nearly every warning light, then immediately shut down again with the radiator fan running at full speed. The electrical system continued to collapse and the vehicle required a full tow. Inspection and Diagnosis: The dealership confirmed a complete alternator and charging system failure at approximately 36,419 miles. This failure occurred at only 4 years of age, which is unusually early for an alternator or charging system failure. The vehicle’s original battery also failed unusually early (at only 2.5 years old) without warning, which may have been an early indication of a charging system issue. The vehicle is lightly used, garage-kept, never off-roaded, and regularly maintained. The sudden loss of steering assist, braking assist, airbags, lighting, and engine power at speed and in high-traffic areas created an extreme safety risk for myself and others. This appears to be a premature electrical system failure and may relate to broader charging system concerns reported in similar vehicles.Read more

Incident date: Jun 15, 2025
My vehicle has a serious safety defect involving the braking system and related electronic controls. The vehicle is available for inspection at any time. The main failure is sudden, unintended braking without me pressing the pedal. On November 5, 2025, around 6:20 p.m., the vehicle brake-checked in traffic and almost caused a rear-end collision. This continues to put my safety and the safety of ot
... hers at risk every time I drive, but I have no other transportation for work. Along with the sudden braking, the car has loud crunching and dragging noises when braking or beginning to move, difficulty shifting between Drive, Reverse, and Park, and intermittent warning lights. Warning lights have appeared several times, and on one occasion stayed on long enough for me to bring the vehicle in. These symptoms first began in July 2025 and have continued ever since. The problems have been repeatedly reproduced by me and reported to the dealer. Although the dealership has sometimes claimed they could not find a problem, they later acknowledged noises and even suggested “better brakes,” which they said I would have to pay for despite my warranty and extended warranty. I have recordings of the noises and a voicemail from a service advisor. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership four times on July 15–16, August 6–9, August 19–22, and September 26, 2025, and also reviewed by Nissan North America Consumer Affairs. No police or insurance inspections have been done. Even after repeated attempts, the manufacturer and dealer have not resolved the safety issues. The sudden braking, shifting problems, noises, and warning lights make the vehicle unreliable and dangerous. I am afraid to drive it, and I am requesting an NHTSA investigation because these defects create a clear risk of a crash and have not been properly addressed by Nissan.Read more

On November 5, 2025, while driving my 2017 Volvo XC90, I experienced a sudden and dangerous loss of braking assist. When I pressed the brake pedal, I heard a loud hissing noise coming from under the dashboard, and the car would not stop. The brake would not work and the vehicle would not slow or stop unless I stood up and used my full body weight to press it. A licensed mechanic inspected the v
... ehicle and confirmed this is consistent with loss of vacuum pressure from the brake booster/failure of the vacuum brake booster, the component that provides power assist to the braking system. The booster, brake pump, hose from booster to pump and brake pedal clip were replaced, with an estimated cost of $2,858. The mechanic also advised that this failure is not uncommon in Volvo XC90 models. After the incident, I researched similar complaints and found numerous reports on NHTSA and [XXX] describing **identical symptoms—hard brake pedal and hissing sound due to vacuum booster failure—**in the 2016–2019 XC90. For example, one owner reported “hard pedal, no assist, hissing sound behind dash” [XXX] , Volvo XC90 2017 Brakes section, accessed Nov 2025). No warning lights or error messages appeared before or during the event. The problem occurred suddenly and without prior symptoms. This defect posed a serious safety risk to me, my passengers, and other drivers, as it severely reduced braking ability and required excessive force to stop the vehicle. Component/System: Automatic Emergency Braking / Forward Collision-Avoidance (AEB/FCA) system and/or Electronic Parking Brake (EPB). The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. What happened: While driving my 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe (VIN: XXX) at highway speeds, the vehicle suddenly and aggressively applied the emergency braking system on two separate occasions within the same day (approxi
... mately 45–60 minutes apart). In both instances, the red emergency braking warning lights illuminated on the dashboard, and a warning sound activated. There were no vehicles, obstacles, or hazards in front of me either time. The braking was forceful and abrupt, causing rapid deceleration at highway speed. Both events occurred under normal, clear driving conditions. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) Safety risk: My safety and the safety of other drivers were put at significant risk. Sudden unintended braking at highway speeds can easily lead to a rear-end collision since the deceleration was not caused by driver input and gave no warning. Reproduction / dealer confirmation: The dealer has not been able to reproduce the issue, and no diagnostic trouble codes have been found so far. The vehicle is currently at the dealership for inspection. Inspection: The vehicle has been inspected by the Hyundai dealership, but the cause has not been identified. No manufacturer field engineer, police, or insurance inspection has taken place yet. Warning lamps / prior symptoms: During the failures, the red emergency braking indicator and audible warning activated immediately when the brakes engaged. There were no warning lights or symptoms prior to either event. Assessment: Cause UNKNOWN. The brakes are still operational temporarily but spongy and expected to fail so the car is not drivable. I expect to have the actuator and master cylinder replaced in then next few weeks at a cost o

I purchased a new 2025 RAM 2500 on June 2, 2025. Within the first week, I began experiencing very soft brake response. Occasionally, I can press the brake pedal to the floor with modest effort, and most of the time, I need to double or triple tap the brakes to achieve a firm response. I have visited four different dealerships across three states regarding this issue. Some service departments have
... acknowledged the problem, while others have stated it is "normal" and as expected, as documented in my maintenance receipts. My truck has been in for service seven times and currently has 7,900 miles on it. This issue is widely discussed among Dodge Ram owners on forums across the internet. It is even more concerning given that this is a heavy-duty truck intended for towing. I tow a 17-foot, 1,800 lb (dry weight) trailer and often rely on the trailer brakes to safely descend hills or exit highways. I sincerely request your office to investigate the braking issues associated with this vehicle. It is concerning to spend $55,000 on a vehicle that lacks basic safety guarantees and performs like a poorly maintained vehicle many years older. Thank you for your attention to this important consumer and safety matter.Read more

We are noticing the coolant meter seems to be stuck on C, the AC is not blowing cold and we are getting a message that ACTION REQUIRED steering assist is reduced, drive with CAUTION. Today the brakes slammed on by themselves and almost sent my wife thru the windshield. Luckily she was in a clear area with no other cars around.

The car will stop (while driving) for no apparent reason. “Phantom Braking”. This is without any known objects/people approaching our vehicle. It’s a part of the electronic automatic braking system but obviously it is not programmed correctly. It is DANGEROUS. A brief review on internet shows these sudden stops have caused accidents (people rear ending vehicle after sudden stops). Cars
... have also had to move quickly off highway to avoid collision. Another issue: the Panoramic Sunroof has had frequent issues with water leaks. We’ve already had to pay for one such leak ($1000) and now face payment for a second serious leak which they can’t seem to fix. Internet searches show that VW Corporation has known about this manufacturing defect since 2016 but has “hidden” these manufacturing defects from customers. These leaks have caused pools of water to form in the trunk (under spare tire). The pool of water inside vehicle can range up to 1.5 feet and more! We’ve heard issues that if not caught sooner, these leaks case severe damage to electrical systems (battery, etc…) due to excess water in vehicle. It burns out electrical systems. To our knowledge, VW will take NO RESPONSIBILITY. People who own these cars have to pay for the fixes. Very expensive fixes which are not working. We no longer feel safe driving this car. VW will not offer us a solution.Read more
