While in a parking lot going about 10mph or less, a car pulled out from a parking space on the left. I did a full brake and despite being dry, warm pavement, the car activated abs and released some brake pressure and allowed the car to continue to move. This ment that my braking distance increased by about 5-10 feet more than you'd expect. I have had this happen 3 times, each time a car was pulli
... ng out perpendicular on the left. I tried to replicate this in an open parking lot and it never repeated therefore I think it has something to do with the car approaching on the left and the active braking system.Read more

was driving my 2022 Mustang Mach-E in "One-Pedal" Whisper mode on. I always drive in that mode because it has a great feature where as soon as I take my foot off the accelerator the car slows down significantly. I feel safer in this mode especially in high traffic or on the freeway. I was very slowly turning into a parking spot in a private parking lot, stepped on brake to put car into Park when t
... he car lurched forward without me touching anything, I had no control of my car no matter how hard I pressed on the brake. My car was driving itself!! when it lurched forward it hit a car parked directly in front of it on its right front side then pushing that vehicle about 2 feet! it did not stop even then, it veered to the right and forward and hit another parked car in the next parking space to the first car that was hit. My car pushed the 2nd car about 2-3 feet before it stopped almost hitting the car parked next to it!! There was an eye witness. This event scared me to death. It was as if someone else was driving my car. I had absolutely NO CONTROL of it. It would NOT STOP. I am soo grateful this happened in a parking lot and not in fast traffic or God forbid the freeway. I would not get back inside my car and never will. We had it towed to a certified repair shop. My car sustained front end & right side front damage. The first car hit sustained right front damage. The 2nd car hit was parked next to the first car hit and sustained right front & right side passenger door damage. No injury. The repair shop has a certified EV Specialist who is going to read the recorder to see how it malfunctioned. There was a police report but haven't received it as of yet. We contacted Ford where we purchased our car. They told us it would be better once repaired to sell the car ourselves as it could take a very long time for Ford to agree to buy it back my car back! only has $9,000 miles on it!! I hope Ford takes this issue seriously!!!Read more

Incident date: Mar 18, 2026
I was beginning to slowly back out of a parking space in a super market parking lot. I had not put my foot on the accelerator because my car begins to slowly inch backwards once it is put into reverse. As the car began to inch backwards, I saw a car approaching down the parking lot driveway behind me. I immediately stepped on my brake, but instead of stopping, my car began to race backwards, accel
... erating at a fast speed. The car never responded when I put my foot on the brake, so I was unable to stop the car. This caused me to crash into the car driving past me, and that finally stopped the car. Because I was almost perpendicular to the car I hit, and the driver was unable to get out of his car, I then put my car into drive to move it out of the way. My car accelerated out of control, again, this time forward. Again, it did not respond when I put my foot on the brake. My out of control car was quickly heading toward a large metal fire gate. In complete desperation, I stomped very hard on the brake, pressing it to the floor as I was about to hit the gate, and the car finally stopped. In both incidents, my brakes completely failed to stop the car accelerator which was acting on its own. The problem has not been reproduced by Toyota, which says there is nothing wrong with the car. However the data report they gave us is suspect because the data shows no reverse movement of the car and labels the accident a rollover, which it was not. In addition, the inspector told my husband there were more tests he could do, but Toyota had not authorized him to do them. There is a police report, and a witness who observed the whole thing. She said that because of the way the car was moving, it looked like a hit and run accident with the driver trying to make a speedy getaway. There were no warning lights or messages displayed.Read more

The Hill Hold Assist system on my 2024 Volkswagen GTI (manual transmission) repeatedly holds the brakes too long when starting on an incline. The brakes remain engaged for 1–2 seconds even after I begin releasing the clutch and applying throttle, which causes the car to stall or hesitate before moving. This creates a safety risk when pulling into traffic or when other vehicles are behind me on a
... hill. This issue has occurred at least four times within the first 1,000 miles of driving. It is easily reproducible on normal hills and happens under normal driving conditions. I have many years of experience driving manual transmission vehicles, including a 2019 GTI, and I have never experienced this kind of delayed brake‑release behavior on any other vehicle. The system’s interference is abnormal and unexpected. There is no option in the vehicle settings to disable or adjust Hill Hold Assist, and many other 2023–2024 GTI manual owners report the same problem. This appears to be a calibration issue that results in unexpected stalls, hesitation, and delayed acceleration, creating a potential safety hazard.Read more

2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Safety Issue Summary: I am filing a complaint regarding critical safety defects with my vehicle. The truck displayed warning messages for traction control service and brake system failure on the instrument panel while parked in my driveway, prior to the vehicle becoming inoperable, I experienced dangerous driving conditions including swerving similar to hydroplaning o
... n two separate occasions. Details: The vehicle was picked up on a flatbed on May 11th, 2026 because it would not start or run. When I drove it before this incident, I experienced the vehicle swerving dangerously similar to hydroplaning on two different occasions 5/1/26 and 5/9/26. Upon inspection, warning messages appeared on the dashboard indicating traction control system service and brake system failure. These are critical safety systems. Chevrolet HE Dealership in Wichita Falls, Texas performed a diagnostic and claimed to find only a dead battery and parasitic draw. They refuse to address the traction control or brake system failures and claim they cannot duplicate the issues. They are pressuring me to accept the vehicle without written confirmation that these safety systems have been repaired. Safety Risk: A vehicle with non-functioning traction control and brake system failures is unsafe to operate. I cannot accept this vehicle until these critical systems are properly diagnosed and repaired.Than you for your help in this matter.Read more

I am writing regarding an ongoing and serious issue with my 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 RST 2.7L that continues to occur despite multiple visits to the dealership. Recently, as I was leaving my house, I entered my truck and started the vehicle as normal. Immediately after startup, approximately eight warning lights and system failure messages appeared on the dashboard simultaneously. The warnin
... gs included the Check Engine Light, ABS warning, Brake System Failure, Service Steering Column Lock, Service Traction Control, Service ESC, Service Brake Pad Monitor, and Trailer Brake Disabled warnings. At that point, the truck became undriveable. Although I was able to shift gears, the vehicle would not move properly in either Drive or Reverse. Due to the severity of the issue, I turned the truck off and left it parked overnight. The following day, all warning lights and messages had disappeared completely. This situation is extremely concerning because the vehicle appears to fail randomly without warning. I no longer feel safe driving the truck, especially with my children in the vehicle, because I fear it could stop functioning again at any time and potentially create a dangerous situation. I have already taken the truck to the dealership multiple times regarding this issue. However, I have repeatedly been told that they cannot properly diagnose or repair the problem unless the warning lights are actively present at the time of inspection. Since the issue is intermittent, this has made it very difficult to get the truck repaired, even though the problem clearly continues to occur. I am requesting that this matter be taken seriously and investigated further, and because this is a new truck that barely has 7,833 miles on it.as this appears to involve critical safety systems including braking, traction control, steering, and vehicle drivability. I depend on this truck daily and need a permanent resolution to this problem as soon as possible.Read more

The vehicle experienced multiple incidents of unintended/sudden braking without an obvious hazard present. Approximately six weeks ago, while traveling eastbound through downtown [XXX] , with children in the vehicle and traffic behind me, the vehicle abruptly engaged braking on its own, causing a sudden slowdown and creating a potential rear-end collision hazard. A second similar incident occurred
... a few weeks later while slowly pulling into a Target Drive-Up parking space, where the vehicle again unexpectedly braked without driver command. The issue appears possibly related to the automatic emergency braking/forward collision avoidance system, although the exact cause is currently UNKNOWN. No collision occurred, but the unexpected braking created a significant safety concern for vehicle occupants and surrounding traffic. The vehicle has also experienced ongoing electrical-related issues, including repeated “No Key Detected” warnings despite prior dealership reprogramming/rekeying attempts involving both the keys and vehicle system. The Bluetooth/radio system has also repeatedly malfunctioned despite dealership updates and/or repairs. To date, the issues appear intermittent and progressively worsening. The vehicle has been serviced previously by dealership personnel for some of the electrical/key-related concerns. The exact root cause has not yet been identified or confirmed. The brake rotors on my 2023 Chrysler 300C failed prematurely at 25,000 miles. The vehicle is equipped with a factory-installed Brembo four-piston high-performance brake system. The issue was confirmed by my authorized Chrysler dealership, however warranty coverage was denied and the failure was classified as wear and tear. This complaint is consistent with NHTSA Complaint ID Number 11661039, filed May 14, 2025, which documents an identical failure on a Chrysler 300 equipped with the same factory Brembo brake system, with rotor warping reported at just 5,260 miles under normal driving conditions. There has been an open recall on my vehicle for over 2 YEARS ! even the recall states "...may cause a vehicle crash without prior warning." This has negatively affected and is a safety issue which involves: 1) Electronic Stability Control - turns off and on - doesn't work 2) Cruise control - cannot use, turns off on on on it's own 3) Steering - affects the steering wheel when turning the wheel,

I have on multiple occasions contacted FCA/ Chrysler/ and the dealership about the issue, opened numerous cases about the unresolved issues and attempted to get a status with no remedy or timeline provided by the manufacturer. On May 9, 2026, while pulling into a parking garage parking space at low speed (below 5 MPH), the brake pedal was pressed but failed to engage or slow the vehicle. The pedal was pressed completely to the floor with no resistance, and the vehicle continued moving forward until it struck a wall, causing damage to the vehicle. Earlier the same day, the brakes produced an abnormal hissing sound whil
... e pulling out of a parking space. No other symptoms or abnormalities were present prior to failure. The vehicle may also have recently received a software update, although it is unknown whether that is related to the incident. The failure appears to involve the brake system and the driver safety assistance systems equipped on the vehicle like forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, and Dynamic Brake Support systems. The exact failed component is currently unknown and remains under inspection by a Chevrolet dealership. No warning lights, messages, or audible alerts appeared before, during, or after the incident. The automatic braking/collision avoidance system also did not activate. Because the vehicle had no braking capability at the time of the incident, the occupants and nearby pedestrians were placed at risk of serious injury. On May 10, 2026, the vehicle was taken to a Chevrolet dealership for inspection. The dealership has been unable to reproduce the issue, and no mechanical defects or diagnostic trouble codes related to the incident were identified. On May 13, 2026, the issue was escalated to the GM Technical Assistance Center (TAC) for further review, and the vehicle remains at the dealership awaiting a response to the TAC case. The dealership acknowledges similar brake-loss concerns referenced in GM service bulletins involving the 2025 Chevy Equinox and other models, including bulletin N24471431, although they stated the bulletin does not apply to this specific VIN.Read more

While driving on the highway, I first noticed the vehicle becoming difficult to steer. The steering felt unusually heavy and sluggish, as if power steering assistance was reduced or failing. Shortly after this began, multiple warning lights illuminated across the dashboard. At that point, braking performance also became severely compromised. The brake pedal felt soft and traveled nearly to the fl

The combination of reduced steering assist and severely degraded braking performance made the vehicle difficult to control and presented a significant safety risk. I was able to bring the vehicle to a stop and it was later towed to a dealership. At the time of inspection, the battery was found to be dead. I had recently returned from a 5-day trip and the vehicle required a jump start before this driving event. The dealership replaced the battery and stated the vehicle was operating normally after repair. However, the incident involved progressive loss of steering assist followed by significant loss of braking performance at highway speed. I am reporting this as a serious safety concern because multiple critical vehicle control systems were affected while driving. I am concerned about potential recurrence of this issue and the risk it presents to driver and public safety. The vehicle is available for inspection.Read more

I purchased my 2015 Jeep Wrangler approximately a year and a half ago. At the time of purchase, the ABS, Traction Control, and Brake warning lights were illuminated on the dashboard. The dealership told me these lights were caused by a simple sensor issue that was on backorder and would be resolved later. About two weeks ago, while driving, my Jeep suddenly went into limp mode. I had two independ
... ent mechanics inspect the vehicle, and both confirmed that the diagnostic codes pointed to a failed ABS Module. I then contacted the dealership where I purchased the vehicle. They acknowledged that the ABS Module is still on backorder but claimed they did not believe the module was the issue, despite the diagnostic results from two separate mechanics. The ABS Module has now completely failed, and the vehicle is unsafe to drive. The ABS, Traction Control, and Brake systems are not functioning, and the Jeep cannot be operated normally. I am unable to drive my vehicle due to this safety‑critical failure. This appears to be a widespread issue with ABS Modules on this model year, and replacement parts are unavailable. I am submitting this report so NHTSA can investigate whether this ABS Module failure represents a broader safety defect that requires action.Read more

On two occasions I've attempted to have this recall work done at a Ford dealership. Today after holding the vehicle for the entire day, the service department at Koons Ford in Falls Church returned the vehicle without performing the recall replacement. Further, they did not notify me the work was not done leaving it to me to call to inquire as to whether the work was done. This is the second attem

Ford states that the replacement parts are not available and that FORDMOCO parts can only be used and only FORDMOCO parts will be used in correcting the recall by the local Ford service dept. OEM Aftermarket replacement parts are in stock at my local Autozone store. I am not going to take a chance having a brake system failure and accident while I wait for Ford to obtain the brake lines and sched

I will purchase and have the brake lines replaced by an ANSI certified mechanic and then I will file suit against Ford to recover my costs to do the repair and cover legal fees. I refuse to be subjected to an anxiety factor with the fear of a brake failure and a crash for a year, because of a manufacture's negligence and a failure to honor its warranty.Read more

... and for Buyback To the Representatives of CarMax Corporate and NHTSA, I am writing to formally report a severe safety incident and a gross failure of the CarMax Certified Quality Inspection process. The negligence displayed by the CarMax Orlando staff not only violated the terms of our purchase contract but actively endangered my life and the lives of others on the road. 1. Timeline of Events and Staff Negligence On 04/30/2026, I purchased the above-referenced vehicle from CarMax Orlando. Upon attempting a test drive, I was denied by sales consultant Boris Iniquez, who stated the vehicle could not be driven until it was cleaned. On 05/01/2026, I took delivery and immediately noticed the brakes were non-responsive and emitting a loud "air brake" sound. I returned to the dealership on 05/02/2026. Mr. Iniquez performed a ride-along, personally witnessed the brake malfunction, and was informed of my immediate need to drive 450 miles to Atlanta, GA, for my role as a Site Inspector. Rather than providing a safe loaner or grounded vehicle, Mr. Iniquez and the acting manager explicitly instructed me to drive the vehicle to Atlanta, asserting that the car had "passed all inspections." 2. Mechanical Safety Failure Upon reaching Atlanta, the vehicle's condition became untenable. On 05/07/2026, CarMax GA inspected the vehicle and found: - Total failure of all four brake pads. - Front rotors requiring immediate replacement. It is mathematically and mechanically impossible for a vehicle with metal-on-metal rotors and failing pads to have passed a legitimate 125+ INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FRead more
