The vehicle was towed to a dealer to be diagnosed; however, the diagnosis was unknown. The contact mentioned the dealer, and insurance deemed the vehicle a total loss. The vehicle was not repaired. I used all of my strength to push against the brake to keep the car from moving ahead. There are other instances of this identified online if you search for it. He kept it for four days and examined it thoroughly but could not find anything wrong with the car and could not get it to replicate this behavior. The issue appears to be related to the seat's electrical control system or memory setting malfunction. The dealership has inspected the vehicle but was unable to determine the cause of the problem. I am deeply concerned that this may happen again and could cause a serious injury or major traffic accident. The vehicle has approximately 2200 miles and was purchased new in March 2025. Incident # 1. June 2025 Vehicle has approximately 3400 miles on it. I was driving southbound on I 35 freeway in the Lakeville Minnesota area. ... wed rapidly and came to an abrupt stop from 65 miles an hour. I had no ability to get the car to go. The gas pedal had no effect as this car came to a rapid stop. I found myself stopped in the center lane of the freeway frantically looking around to see what cars were coming, can I find the four way flashers. A car passed me in the right lane and a car passed me in the left lane. Then I was able to limp over to the shoulder out of the traffic lanes. I shut the car off immediately and tried to compose myself. After a moment or two, I turned the engine back on and the car operated normally. At the dealership they fixed some things but they said they didn’t find anything that was directly related to the unexpected rapid braking. Incident #2. July 2025 Vehicle has approximately 4300 miles I was driving northbound on 35E taking the entrance ramp to eastbound Highway 36. I was driving on the entrance ramp beginning to accelerate to highway speed. there were no vehicles in front of me, not on the ramp, or on the highway. As I neared the end of the ramp the vehicle suddenly broke hard thrusting me forward again. It came to a complete stop. Fortunately, for the second time, there was no one behind me. This was the second time the vehicle engaged the brakes in an emergency stop for no reason. The Dealership said they couldn’t find anything cause of the incident. ... ol module got wet and needed to be replaced. This is Recall 90S9 from 2021 that was “repaired” in March 2022 by covering the module with a plastic bag. This proved an insufficient repair backed up by a class action lawsuit filed in January 2022 titled Gioffe, et al. v. Volkswagen Group of America, Inc., et al. (Case No. 1:22-cv-00193). I reached out to Audi USA to request a Goodwill repair which was my only available recourse given that the recall had been completed and closed. After 5 days the Regional Manager denied my request even after I emphasized the safety risk associated with this catastrophic failure as well as the recall in 2021 and class action suit filed in 2022. I paid $1485.33 to re-repair the recall. Driving home from repair my vehicle alerted me to the following messages: Vehicle starting system: malfunction! Please contact Service, and Audi pre-sense: currently limited. See owner’s manual. An OBD scan alerted 7 more codes: 1. Steering Assistance ID 44 (Terminal 30 Open circuit), 2. Central Electrics ID 09 (Garage door opener transmitter no communication), 3. Gateway ID 19 Control module for emergency call module and communication unit no communication, 4. Ethernet Notrufmodul keine Kommunikation, 5. Ethernet databus branch 1 No communication, 6. Multimedia ID SF Function restriction due to communication interruption, 7. Driver Assistance ID A5 Dynamic calibration Function limitation due to limit value exceedance.I reached out to the dealership that performed the service and was told that those are “ghost codes” and nothing to do with the work performed.Read more

The contact's husband, brother, and friend also experienced emotional distress. The vehicle's fender was slightly detached due to the incident. Someone assisted them with tying the fender to the vehicle with a rope before driving the vehicle home at approximately 10 MPH. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed. The dealer replaced the front bumper, grille, front lamps, radiator support, mount tie bar, fender, and electrical components, as well as other unknown parts. The dealer confirmed that there were no remedies available for the recalls. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. They replaced the system and that was resolved, but the sensors continue acting strange. It's now turning on the camera and telling me to check my surroundings when I'm stopped at a red light. There is nothing happening around me. The problem that is ongoing and has yet to be resolved is my brakes. It's an intermittent issue, but when I go over rough surfaces and hit the brakes I get a crunching/grinding noise that sounds like it's grinding rocks. This happens intermittently. The dealer was eventually able to replicate it and is saying it's the ABS system and that it's normal, but cannot do anything to repair it. However, it is not normal for ABS to come on going over a bump and it shouldn't sound like that. When this happens, the brakes don't seem to respond properly and as quickly as it should. I have not gotten any warning lights for the brake issue. It does put the parking brake on at times for no reason when I'm on a completely flat surface. The car was out of service for 21 days in a month and a half of owning it. I have a car that I don't feel safe in and I don't trust what it's going to do. I’m quite shocked because I was told that this isn’t covered under warranty and that I’m responsible for the cost. I’ve owned or leased at least five Range Rover sports in the past, and I’ve never experienced such rapid wear and tear. I took my traverse in on Wednesday afternoon and never heard back from them. on Monday October 6 I called and they advised me that my car needed a master cylinder and it was on back order. They said they could not give me an ETA because they have no idea when it will be available. Randomly when braking the vehicle will "lurch" forward causing you to immediately reapply the brakes hard to stop. The dealer claims they have no knowledge of this but when you Google "Toyota Highlander hybrid brake issues" there are numerous reports of the same occurrences.
