When having to slow down or stop quickly, the van starts to jerk back and forth and shake a lot and the car becomes very difficult to control. This is especially noticeable when going down hills such as I-70 in Colorado, I-15 in eastern California or mountain passes in the Sierra Nevadas, but also when coming around a corner on a freeway and the traffic is stopped. It would be very serious if dr

I have had to replace brake and strut parts and bearings multiple times. (gratefully the struts were still under warranty, so I only had to pay for labor the ensuing times.)Read more

On three occasions my car has initiated automatic emergency braking while I was driving across the same grated bridge deck (Montlake Bridge in Seattle). In each instance there was no potential for collision and my car slammed on brakes and jammed on my seatbelt with varying levels of discomfort and terror. This also created a safety risk because I could have been rear ended as there was so reason
... to suddenly stop and certainly was shocked to have my car brake urgently and restrain me suddenly with seatbelt. My best guess is that this related to boats traveling under the bridge as this happened three times during higher boat traffic. I reported incident to Volvo and was told a case would be opened and that I would be contacted. I was not contacted. I scheduled a service appointment to address this and other issues with the EX90 that are unrelated but for the third time my appointment was cancelled as the Volvo dealership is refusing to service the ex90s they have been selling.Read more

I was pulling up behind a vehicle that was entering the highway when I noticed that the driver had to yield to oncoming traffic and did not continue driving. PLEASE SEE ATTACHED LETTER This complaint is being submitted due to gross negligence in recall communication and manufacturer accountability. ... rd: cxh05566445w6s6x2 My vehicle has four unresolved safety recalls, two of which directly caused two accident that could—and should—have been prevented had I been notified of the known safety risks. I did not receive recall notices until after both of the accidents occurred, which demonstrates a systemic failure by the manufacturer, Ford. This negligence is not only irresponsible—it violates basic safety obligations to consumers and the public. I request immediate action from NHTSA to investigate this matter and enforce compliance. A description of the incidents and associated recalls that have incurred are described on the following page. Additionally, just last week while driving on a rural road, my vehicle’s transmission unexpectedly shifted from standard Drive into Sport mode (“S”) on its own without any input from me. This sudden and uncommanded gear change created a dangerous driving situation, and I strongly believe this may be another serious safety defect that has yet to be acknowledged or recalled by the manufacturer. 1. I am filing this complaint regarding a serious and ongoing safety defect in my 2015 Ram 1500 involving the failure of the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) module (Part No. 68228991AD). This failure completely disables the ABS, significantly reducing the vehicle’s braking performance and increasing the risk of loss of control or collision during emergency braking situations. This is a well-documente
... d and widespread issue among Ram 1500 owners. Chrysler has discontinued the manufacture and supply of the affected ABS module, leaving owners without a viable means to restore this critical safety system. I have been placed on a waiting list for over two years for a replacement part, yet I have been informed repeatedly that there is no assurance one will ever become available. The dealership has even advised me to “buy a new truck” if I wish to have properly functioning anti-lock brakes. This situation is not only unreasonable—it is dangerous. The lack of a functioning ABS system places my family, my passengers, and others on the road at significant risk. The inability to obtain a replacement for a vital safety component effectively renders the vehicle unsafe for operation. I am aware that Ram recently issued a recall affecting approximately 1.5 million trucks for the same ABS defect. However, my model year has been excluded, despite exhibiting the identical failure. This selective recall leaves hundreds of affected consumers without recourse or protection. I respectfully request that Chrysler and the relevant regulatory authorities investigate this matter, extend the existing recall to include the 2015 Ram 1500, and compel the manufacturer to resume production and distribution of the necessary replacement parts to remedy this critical safety defect.Read more

My 2024 Volkswagen Atlas SE began collecting visible moisture inside the rear tail light assembly less than 18 months after purchase. Over time, this led to intermittent lighting failure, sometimes the lights function, sometimes they don’t. This is a safety concern, especially at night or in poor weather. After researching the issue, I found that this is a widely reported problem among VW Atlas
... owners and has even been referenced in VW’s own Technical Service Bulletin 94-22-01, which is published in the NHTSA database. The bulletin calls this “normal condensation,” but this is beyond that there is visible water pooling and electrical malfunction and I know of others who report the same thing. VW is down playing this to avoid the recall. Despite being under extended warranty, this is not covered because VW considers it cosmetic unless there’s proven seal failure. The vehicle is available for inspection and has been evaluated by a certified VW service center. Volkswagen needs to address this as a design or sealing defect, especially when it affects vehicle safety systems like brake and signal lights.Read more

While driving at approximately 15–20 mph, my vehicle suddenly started beeping and displayed a quick warning message on the dashboard before the brakes locked up on their own. The incident lasted only a few seconds, but it was extremely alarming. This same issue has now happened twice, both times in the exact same location on the same road, driving at about the same speed. The first incident was
... roughly around [XXX], the second incident was [XXX]. On both occasions, I had my [XXX] twin daughters in the car with me, and it frightened all of us. Thankfully, there were no vehicles directly behind me either time, otherwise it could have resulted in a rear-end collision. I believe there were cars ahead of me, but they were far enough away that I don’t think they triggered the sensors. Both times it was sunny, dry weather, and the road conditions were normal—no rain, no slick surfaces, and no obstacles in front of me. I am not sure if sunlight could have affected a sensor, but it appears to be related to the vehicle’s automatic emergency braking system or another electronic braking malfunction. The problem has not yet been inspected or confirmed by a dealer, but I plan to have it checked as soon as possible. Dodge has a "safety" feature to keep the vehicle from driving off if the driver exits the vehicle with it in gear. If someone gets out of the vehicle while it is in Drive, the parking brake is automatically applied, the engine put in park then powered off. My problem is this "safety" mechanism has

While driving normally at highway speed on I-880 South, the braking system failed to decelerate the vehicle. Three days before the incident, the vehicle had a scheduled maintenance and recall service at a Mazda dealer, including a brake inspection and air-bag recall repair. The vehicle was declared a total loss by the insurance company and is currently stored at Copart Hayward, CA. The problem has not been inspected by Mazda yet, but a formal safety review is requested. I turned into a restaurant’s parking lot, found a spot and slowly drove into the lot, I eased off the gas pedal and gently applying the brake as the lot has a slight downward slope. Luckily, all occupants were unhurt, airbag was not deployed. I inspected the car after parking properly, there didn’t seem any visible damage to the vehicle, although I couldn’t see the chassis system which I believed must had a few scratches on the underside. The technician failed to update/recalibrate the on-board warning system since last time I had the serviced at dealer, mainly for oil change on 3/14/2025. So, every time I turned on the engine, there is a warning message displayed as: "Maintenance Required Visit Your Dealer". This happened since the day after oil change. After restarting and beginning forward motion, a clicking noise could be heard that corresponded with wheel revolution (as wheel moved faster, clicking noise quickened). After beginning to pick up speed the ABS error light would appear and clicking noise would stop. Bike was taken to a Triumph dealer in S Dakota, mechanic reported something looked to have gotten into the rear brake assembly damaging the ABS pulse ring, caliper bracket, & rotor. Bike is currently at Fort Wayne Triumph (owners home town) and they report that bike also appears to have a damaged chain sprocket. I heard one employee tell another, "What is going on with these cars and their brake hoses?" This time I had to pay over $1,000 to get it fixed. I'm warning everyone I know NOT to buy this car! My 3 experiences have been so horrid that it absolutely has made me realize that Ford is just not for me or my family!Read more

Clicking that the dealer stated was normal. It was not loud knocking saying that is how the high flow fuel pump worked. Safety braking did not work at all. And there was a water intrusion in the trunk.

We were notified of a recall in Nov 2024 with a first quarter of 2025 fix. We are now 1 year later and still no fix, clearly a safety issue and I cannot trade in or sell legally without the fix. I am stuck with a vehicle with known safety issues and Chrysler is being allowed to just ignore it.

When slowing to a stop the vehicle is unsmooth and unpredictable, there is also a sudden release when braking downhill (not sure if they are related). There’s been occasions where the car lurched when coming to a stop almost resulting in me rear ending the vehicle in front of me. The unsmooth/unpredictable stopping only happens at speeds under 10mph when approaching a stop like with city driving
... . I’ve had it to the dealership two times for this. They’ve had trouble reproducing it, but acknowledged it is unsmooth and said that’s just the way the regenerative braking was designed. The holding back and release when braking downhill is completely random.Read more

While driving on the highway, the brakes on my rental truck began to feel mushy, and the pedal eventually went all the way to the floor. I was unable to stop and had to use the emergency brake to avoid a collision. The truck was rented from Budget Truck Rental (Serrato Enterprises Inc., 7680 Bandera Road, San Antonio, TX 78238). Upon inspection, I discovered brake fluid leaking from the left rear
... tire and an empty master cylinder reservoir under the hood. I made my first call to Budget Customer Service at 2:00 PM but was not towed to Abilene until 1:00 AM—leaving my family stranded for nearly two days. The next day, the repair mechanic from Rocky Mountain Truck inspected the braking system and told me this vehicle should never have been on the road due to the severe deterioration of the brake rotor and pads on both sides of the truck (photo attached). He provided me with the damaged rotor and brake pad as physical evidence of neglect and told me the vehicle would not pass any sort of inspection, also warning me to never rent from Budget again if this is how they give customers vehicles. Inside the cab, there is a maintenance log showing no service for over 20,000 miles beyond the last recorded entry at 99,000 miles, even though previous maintenance had been logged every 4,000 miles. This clearly shows a failure in standard maintenance and safety practices. The fact that my wife’s and my safety was jeopardized—and that Budget’s customer service treated this with such disregard—is unacceptable. It is alarming that only a catastrophic accident could have brought attention to such negligence in vehicle maintenance and safety oversight. I am going to these lengths due to the fact that Budget values milking a few extra miles out of a vehicle's lifespan rather than addressing the most common wear-and-tear items on a vehicle. I'm reaching out because of Budget’s failure to acknowledge the importance of vehicle safety. I was driving my car and came to a near stop. when I attempted to drive the car again the vehicle displayed a message to shift to park and then restart the vehicle. I did that and was able to drive another 30 miles home. The next day, I drove the car 20 miles to get an oil change. When I drove a mile away from the oil change location the car displayed a shift to park and restart message again. Aft
... er that, I was able to drive the car 20 miles home. About an hour later, I drove 1/2 mile up the road and the car again displayed a shift to park message and restart as I was driving up to 50 mph on the highway. I was able to get the car home, but the message displayed again twice. The car shuts off if you do not follow the instructions so as I was driving up to 50 mph the car lost power creating a very dangerous driving scenario.Read more

I was traveling on [XXX] in Nashville. There was a motorcycle speed trap on the right shoulder so I moved over to the left.
