while driving the 2013 Prius hybrid , the ABS , brake light, and traction control lights came on. The brake was rock hard and the car would not stop at the light, causing me to swerve away from the cars in front of me and pull into a nearby parking lot. The brake would not work. There is a constant beeping noise in the car , which is a brake warning. I looked up the problem and just like many othe
... r Prius owners, there is a brake booster and brake accumulator issue and Toyota is not owning up to this problem. Many Toyota Prius owners are complaining of this loss of brakes issue. How long until NHTSA forces Toyota to do a proper recall about this very dangerous loss of brakes issue ??? They recalled a few vehicles, but the recall does not seem to cover many Prius vehicle owners that are complaining. Mine has 140 000 miles now, but this part is failing even on cars with 40 000 miles. Toyota knows very well that they have a big serious issue costing upwards of $4000 to fix. They are just refusing to recall this issue. NHTSA has to address this issue please. They are many complaints about this loss of brakes issue.Read more

I was sitting at an exit from a store waiting to pull out into an intersection. Full foot on the brake, and I know for certain I wasn't accidentally hitting the accelerator because on the first "jump" I checked to make sure. It lurched through the brakes multiple times bucking like a cammed car would. Then threw all these warning lights, turtle icon came up saying speed limited, and the collision
... lights came on as well as traction control was disabled. Shut off and wouldn't power back on for a few minutes leaving the entire front half of my car sitting in oncoming traffic. I've had this issue since day one. At first I thought it was from having the seats back in the furthest most position, but after testing its not. One of my friends legs got caught when trying to get out causing him to fall. Another's entire body was pinched because they cant get out in under 5 seconds.. If you have children do NOT put them in the back if you are having this issue. There is no safety mechanism in place and you have to way for the seat to go back all the way and reset the setback to get it to move forward again. Quickest solution I've found to get someone out in this situation is to allow it to fully adjust back, and manually adjusting the seat forward. I have not been able to charge the vehicle consistently at any stations since purchase in 8/28. I would get nonstop errors, having to un-plug and re-plug in the vehicle every 5-10%, sometimes not even working at all. I've been left stranded with less than 5% left and when I returned to the dealership to get an emergency charge just to get home they called the police on me and trespassed me from their lot.. I've only been able to get it to work at a tesla charger once. I've used multiple different adapters from Amazon including the Dewalt and Lectron adapters. The only one that's worked so far is the charger in Easton, MD with the magic dock connector already installed.Read more

There is an issue with the brake booster and brake booster pump assemblies that causes this vehicle to brake poorly. These parts are known to malfunction in Lexus CT 200h models and recognized by Lexus/Toyota. This issue needs to be extended into a recall for the vehicle due to the danger it poses while braking. Lexus/Toyota have acknowledged the issue via their letter: Customer Support Program 21
... LE01. The original publication of this program was issued on May 20, 2021. Within the letter they recognize that these parts will commonly break down. They issued a brief coverage on vehicles affected. A primary coverage on vehicles prior to November 30, 2022, and a secondary coverage on vehicles within 10 years of operation and 150,000 miles. With the secondary coverage applying to whichever came first. As a secondary owner of this vehicle, I had no idea this letter had been sent out. I had purchased this car late 2022. Had there been a recall notice on these vehicles, I would have been able to speak to a service representative about getting this issue remedied. Seeing as my vehicle is at 143,273 miles and 14 years in use, I am no longer covered through the Customer Support Program 21LE01. During my years of operating this vehicle I have experienced issues when braking. While driving and braking over bumpy roads the vehicle's braking would feel less effective. A week before my vehicle's Brake, Brake System, ABS, and Traction Control lights came on, I nearly experienced a collision with another vehicle while turning at a street light. The brakes should have been more than enough to have stopped the vehicle in the moment, and the ABS should have kicked in when it sensed me attempting to come to a harsh stop. Once I had diagnosed the dashboard lights I received OBD2 code C1391. Indicating an issue with the Power Brake Booster. Seeing as the issue is recognized by Lexus/Toyota, and this issue posing danger while operating the vehicle, there should be a recall imposed.Read more

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The vehicle’s collision avoidance automatic braking system is malfunctioning. It engages unexpectedly while the vehicle is moving with normal traffic flow. The system is still installed and fully available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The au
... tomatic braking system activates suddenly and without cause while I am driving at typical speeds (approximately 40–60 mph) with the flow of traffic. This unexpected braking creates a serious risk of rear-end collisions, both endangering me and putting other drivers at risk of crashing into my vehicle from behind. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? I have reported the issue to the dealer, but they have been unable to replicate the problem during their inspections. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? No, the vehicle and its braking system have not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, law enforcement, insurance representatives, or any other third parties. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning lights, messages, or other indicators were present before the issue occurred. I purchased the vehicle last month, and the problem with the collision avoidance braking system has been present consistently since then.Read more

My brakes locked up suddenly on the rear end causing me to get stuck in the middle of the road and unable to move it, even to tow it. I had to take 2 days almost to fix it in the middle of the road, since yesterday morning. They also began locking up suddenly on the front end, the wheel bearing, CV Joint, Tie Rods, CV Axles, CV Boots, and sway bars began failing out of nowhere as well. The brakes
... may or may not be able to be replicated, as they are partially fixed and yes my entire front end can be replicated. The danger is my brakes locked up as I was driving, in the middle of the road at that. I have not been able to get the front end fixed as it is expensive, however the danger of this is the tires falling off or the front end failing all together. ALL of the other people who drive these that I have talked to and met have had the same problem and yes they are factory parts! Even the people who have only 30 to 60000 miles on their 2011 Ford Flex Titaniums have these issues! Not only this but also the sensors go bad almost immediately off the lot, which can cause the car to brake without warning, stop running out of nowhere, make the power steering module fail, make your vehicle stutter because ALL of the sensors are bad. These vehicles need to be recalled and fixed, or recalled and replaced with better vehicles (from $60,000 up to $95,000) with any mileage any year. Please recall these and please help! On May 16, 2024, Plaintiff [XXX] was in urgent need of replacing the front passenger side tire on his vehicle. Subject: Urgent Safety Concern – Immediate Attention Required Dear To Whom it may Concern, I am writing to urgently express serious safety concerns with the vehicle I recently [purchased/test drove/had serviced]. Alignment Problem: The vehicle is veering aggressively to the right during normal driving, which indicates a serious alignment or suspension issue. During the test drive, I was told the alignment would be addressed before delivery. However, the vehicle still exhibits unsafe behavior. Additionally, the braking condition does not align with the claim that the brakes are at 90%. These are critical safety issues that must be addressed immediately. My 2021 Toyota Highlander Hybrid has a braking issue identified in Toyota Service Bulletin T-SB-0059-23, Hybrid Regenerative Brake Transition Feeling Improvement. When going downhill and applying the brake, the vehicle lurches forward temporarily as the braking system transitions from regenerative to hydraulic braking. The first time my vehicle did this, it was very alarming and I had to take addi
... tional measures to slow my vehicle as I was driving downhill. My vehicle frequently demonstrates this problem, however, I did not report it to my local Toyota dealer because I read in an online chat group that it was a characteristic of this vehicle. Although the TSB recommends a Reprogram of the Brake Actuator Assembly Control Module, the repair is only covered under the Toyota Basic Warranty which is in effect for 36 months or 36k miles, whichever occurs first. My vehicle is past the warranty limit, and because I did not report it to my dealer previously, this repair is not covered under the TSB or the Toyota Basic Warranty. Toyota Highlander Hybrid model years 2020-2022 are affected. The Technical Service Bulletin was issued August 29, 2023, so if a 2020 model Highlander Hybrid has this problem, 2020 models would have already passed the warranty limit by the time the TSB was issued and thus would not be covered. This is a safety risk as drivers can lose control of the vehicle when braking, particularly when going downhill. The Warranty should be extended, or this problem should be elevated to a RECALL so that older affected vehicles, or those with higher mileage can be covered under warranty. Drivers should not have to pay for a recognized problem that affects the safety of this vehicle and has been identified in a Technical Service Bulletin. This problem puts drivers at risk of losing control of the vehicle and the problem can be mediated with a software reprogram. T-SB-0059.23 should be elevated to a RECALL, or extended regardless of age or mileage.Read more
