While making a left turn at approximately 10 mph in light snow conditions, braking became severely impaired with pedal pressure present but vehicle failing to decelerate, and steering became significantly resistant and insufficient to redirect the vehicle away from the obstacle. Vehicle continued toward a tree despite brake pedal input and steering input away from the tree. Slippery road warning l
... ight activated before and during the incident. Multiple additional warning lights activated during and after impact. Airbags did not deploy despite collision. Post-incident, steering required significant opposite steering input to drive straight for approximately 1.7 miles to reach a safe parking location, consistent with front-end damage affecting steering alignment. Prior to this incident, I experienced multiple separate occasions where braking felt abnormal and insufficient in conditions requiring higher traction including rain and snow. I verbally reported this concern once to an authorized Nissan dealer in December 2025 and was told this was normal AEB system behavior. No documentation was created for this verbal complaint. Vehicle had a prior manufacturer recall performed at an authorized Nissan dealer on June 1, 2024 reconfiguring the IPDM/USM — the module controlling electronic steering column lock and CAN bus safety system communications. At that same visit, the Nissan technician documented abnormally dirty brake fluid at only 14,410 miles on this 2023 vehicle. A second manufacturer recall reprogramming the ECM was performed at an authorized Nissan dealer on December 4, 2025, approximately two months before this incident. The vehicle is available for inspection. No independent or dealer post-incident inspection has occurred. An insurance claim has been opened. Incident occurred within the 3-year/36,000-mile manufacturer warranty period at under 31,000 miles.Read more

I am a disabled veteran reporting a failed recall remedy and a dangerous safety defect in a 2024 Dodge Hornet GT. This vehicle was previously serviced under NHTSA Recall 25V246000 (Rear Visibility System), where the display module was reportedly replaced/updated. On January 17, 2026, while driving at slow speeds, the center infotainment screen suffered a total failure and went blank. This failure
... resulted in the immediate loss of the rearview camera and all primary safety/vehicle interfaces, which is a direct violation of FMVSS No. 111. I provided video evidence of the total screen failure to the service department at Southern Dodge Jeep Ram Alfa Romeo in Norfolk Virginia. While they confirmed the failure occurred based on my footage, they stated they could not replicate the issue during their inspection and informed me there was "nothing they could do." They refused to keep me in a safe loaner vehicle, forcing me to choose between driving a fundamentally unsafe vehicle with my young child or incurring massive personal expense for a rental. Due to the manufacturer’s inability to provide a permanent remedy for a federally recalled safety defect, I was forced to sell the vehicle at a significant loss. I am filing this to urge an investigation into the effectiveness of the current remedy for Recall 25V246000.Read more

The brakes squeal when reversing and sometimes when you’re driving forward coming to a stop. It has done this since the day I picked it up at the dealership. The dealership says there’s no remedy for it yet. The next thing is the front fog lights also draw moisture just like the rear reverse lights. Dealership says there’s no remedy for it or fix for it. I’ve had to have the radiator rep
... laced twice in this vehicle and it only has 44,000 miles on it. The dealership says it’s a factory defect. Not sure if that’s true or not. It was not covered under warranty so I had to spend $200 to use my extended warranty. I do not think that is right it should’ve been covered under the manufacturers warning, especially if it was a manufacturer defect. The last but most important thing is the lag when you give it gas. This happens from a complete stop or also like if you’re trying to accelerate to get on the highway you can press it nice and slow and it won’t takeoff or you can mash on it all the way to the floor and it still takes a few seconds and then kind of vibrates and pops like it’s trying to skip gears before it takes off and goes. Dealership also says there’s nothing wrong with it. I believe it is a factory defect or some kind of wiring problem. The reason why I think it is a computer or wiring issue is that if you put the vehicle in sport mode, it will not do it coming from a complete stop. It does do it when you’re getting on the highway even in sport mode. I am on a few Facebook forums and I see this problem where people report this problem all the time and ask how to fix it. I would like information on how to get Toyota to buy my vehicle back. These trucks have had so many issues with engine recalls, engine replacement, and other issues that are an actual safety concern and I do not feel like it is a safe vehicle to be traveling with my family. In those 5 days, twice while driving on the highway (at 5-10 mph under the posted speed limit due to heavy traffic, dry and clear weather), I found it necessary to brake hard due to other vehicle traffic braking hard in front of me. Had the vehicle behind me not been able to stop in time, there would have been an accident, and because the brakes were locked by the computer, I could not have done anything to prevent it. After the second incident (on 2-15-2026), I looked through the vehicle setup information and found it is possible to disable the "forward safety" feature to prevent additional incidents, however, that setting can only be changed then the vehicle is stationary, and it automatically turns back on every time you start the vehicle.Read more

I am submitting this complaint about Safety Recall C4B / NHTSA 24V‑896 for my 2018 Ram 2500 (VIN: [XXX] ). I am active‑duty military living in Virginia; the truck is registered in Tennessee. FCA’s recall notice says the brake hydraulic control unit (HCU) may fail, causing intermittent then permanent loss of ABS, ESC, and traction control, and that this “may cause a vehicle crash without p
... rior warning.” My truck shows as affected, but I have been unable to get the recall repair. The notice also states that the remedy is “not currently available” and that FCA will contact me when it is. As of February 2026, more than a year after the recall was initiated, I am still being told that parts are unavailable and there is no firm ETA for when the repair can be performed. In the meantime, I continue to drive with a known safety defect FCA has already acknowledged. My truck’s ABS and ESC lights cycle on and off while driving, consistent with the defect description. This creates real concern about whether ABS/ESC will function during emergency braking or low‑traction conditions, especially given that I use the truck for commuting and towing. I am also aware that FCA is reimbursing owners who have already paid out of pocket to replace failed HCUs, which suggests that replacing the HCU is the recognized fix, even as owners like me are told there is “no remedy available” under the recall. This appears to leave many vehicles on the road with a known safety defect and no timely, practical way to obtain the promised free repair. I respectfully request that NHTSA review FCA’s handling of Recall 24V‑896, evaluate whether FCA is providing a remedy within a reasonable time, and consider any enforcement or additional oversight needed to ensure parts are supplied and repairs completed promptly for all affected vehicles. Suspected Causes (based on symptoms and similar reports): • Possible ESC (electronic stability control) or yaw sensor failure. • ABS/traction control pulsing/locking wheels unexpectedly in reverse. • Electronic power steering (EPS) glitch—wheel felt “fighting” or unresponsive during the event. • No fault codes pulled by dealer yet, but similar low-speed reverse spin-outs reported in 2025-2026 Corollas (e.g., NHTSA complaints on “ABS ghosting” or “rear-end slide”). Additional Info: • Dealer (Toyota of Hollywood, 6920 W Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA) has the vehicle awaiting inspector. • Demand letter sent/hand-delivered today (February 21, 2026) under Song-Beverly Act—safety defect, one occurrence. • No insurance claim filed—this is manufacturer liability, not driver error. • Photos of skid marks/collision available if requested. I am filing a formal safety complaint regarding my 2017 Ram 1500. The Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) module has been non-functional for approximately one year. I have been informed the replacement part has been on national backorder for nearly two years, with no clear timeline for repair. The ABS system is a critical safety component designed to prevent wheel lock-up, maintain steering control du
... ring emergency braking, and reduce stopping distances in wet or icy conditions. Without a functioning ABS module, the vehicle is at increased risk of skidding, loss of steering control, and extended stopping distances. In a full-size pickup truck, this creates a substantial risk of serious injury or death to occupants and others on the road. Additionally, related systems such as traction control and electronic stability control may be compromised. Online owner forums indicate this is an ongoing issue affecting many Stellantis-built vehicles, including Ram 1500 models. While recalls have been issued for other model years for braking-related defects, no recall has been issued for the 2017 model year despite similar failures. It is unacceptable for a manufacturer to leave owners operating vehicles with a known safety defect while critical braking components remain unavailable for extended periods. If a safety system cannot be repaired within a reasonable timeframe, regulatory intervention is warranted. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this matter and determine whether a recall is necessary. Should an accident, injury, or fatality occur due to this unresolved ABS defect, the manufacturer should be held accountable.Read more
