My Honda CRV EX-L traveling roughly 40 mph along a straight and clear road did a sudden hard break once it reached an intersection that had a green signal light. I leased a 2023 Ioniq 6 electric car on September 2023. Since leasing the vehicle, the vehicle has been towed four times for the same problem, the parking brake malfunctions rendering the vehicle unusable. I have multiple photos and videos documenting this. This has happened either after parking the vehicle and attempting to turn it off, or after turning on the car after being parked. The first t
... hree times this happened the vehicle remained in neutral and would not change into any other gear. The car would not turn off or lock. The last time it happened again the car stayed in neutral and would not change gears, but I was still able to turn it off and lock it. Below is a summary of all the times the car was towed and how many days it was in the dealer. 1.December 12, 2025 (towed to dealership #1) to December 19, 2025: 8 days, no action taken, unable to find the cause of the problem 2.December 20, 2025 (towed to dealership #1) to December 29, 2025: 10 days, no action taken, unable to find the cause of the problem. Note the car failed again the day after it was returned to me on December 19. 3.January 2, 2026 (towed to dealership #2) to January 13, 2026: 12 days. Changed the 12V battery and replaced the VCU, vehicle control unit as an educated guess based on conversations with the Hyundai engineering team as the initial diagnostic scan failed to pinpoint the problem. 4.March 12, 2026 (towed to dealership #2). As of tMarch 15, 2026 the car is in the dealership for repairs for the same problem. Since this problem is likely related to the electric car’s electronics, it has been both challenging to diagnose, and extremely unpredictable and dangerous when it happens without any previous actionable warnings. The fact that the parking brake malfunctions and cannot engage, and that in addition the car gets stuck in neutral, is an extremely serious safety concern that could result in an accident, injury or death.Read more

I've noticed periodically when the car is braking at start stop traffic in autopilot mode, the brake is very jerky and I can actually hear the pedal jerking and engaging. I wrote it off at the time in my head as normal operation of the car. I have brake pressure offset codes and brake booster mia codes. Sometimes I've noticed when I brake, randomly the pedal is super stiff and it feels like the ca
... r is driving on ice, as if the brakes aren't working or slowing me down at all, but I thought nothing of it at the time. Today on the 14th, I got into an accident at a relatively slow speed that in any other scenario I should have been able to stop. Yet I hit a parked car because as I was braking, I felt the pedal go very very stiff and unresponsive, and I carried the same speed as when I started braking right until impact, it seems as if I didn't slow down one bit. The brakes did not respond as they did mere seconds before and I hit a parked car. I understand teslas may throw codes left and right in service mode that may mean nothing, but I am worried about the brake booster code and wonder if maybe it caused the accident I was involved in. My friends told me they heard about tesla brake issues and that I should look into it and when I went to go check the codes hours later there they were.Read more

The first component to fail was the brake booster module which controls the ABS, forward collision, adaptive braking, adaptive cruise, traction control system, etc. The malfunction started when the forward collision assist activated to prevent me from hitting a deer in the road. We avoided hitting the deer but all of those lights came on immediately. We contact Friendship Chevrolet the dealer we b
... ought the car from had us bring it in to be checked. They confirmed the defective Module and said that it was a reported issue that GM had it's engineers looking at. They said they would have to wait for the part to arrive, advised that we could continue to drive the car even though there was a major malfunction with the critical braking systems. did not offer any type of loaner to ensure my family's safety. We had to wait for more than 30 days for them to receive the part and complete the repair still driving this unsafe vehicle because we had no other choice considering how high the MSRP & payment is on the vehicle. Once the repair was finally completed we immediately began to notice that the brakes were consistently screeching when in slow moving traffic like car rider pick up line. I reported the issue to the dealership and they gave me the answer that it was due to a more abrasive brake pad being used due to it being a passenger vehicle and it's weight. We continued to deal with the squeaking for months then we noticed a coolant leak. Dealership again said had to wait for part. After they did not contact me back I contacted GM and opened a case. When they got it in I also had them change the brakes out of my own pocket. Now the brakes squeak anytime pressure is applied and when coming to a complete stop they grind so loud you can hear and feel them digging in. GM still says nothing is wrong and brakes are a maintenance charge and are not covered for any reason. I feel the vehicle is still extremely unsafe and my family is at risk of possible crash.Read more

The component that failed is the Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) Control Module in a 2013 Jeep Wrangler. Diagnostic code C2200 (“ABS Control Module Internal Failure”) was retrieved during a scan, indicating an internal electronic failure within the ABS module. The component remains installed in the vehicle and is available for inspection upon request. When the failure occurs, the vehicle’s A
... BS, traction control, and stability control systems become disabled. The dashboard displays warning lights for the ABS, traction control, and brake system. While the base braking system continues to function, the loss of these electronic safety systems could increase the risk of reduced vehicle control during emergency braking or low-traction conditions such as wet or slippery roads. The issue has been confirmed through diagnostic scanning by a service center, which produced code C2200 indicating an internal failure of the ABS control module. The condition is repeatable: the warning lights appear after approximately 10 minutes of driving, and if the vehicle is turned off and allowed to sit for a period of time (such as overnight), the lights reset but return again after driving. The replacement ABS control module is currently extremely difficult to obtain. According to a Jeep dealership parts department, the module is on significant backorder, with hundreds of outstanding orders that were expected to be filled earlier in 2026 but remain unfulfilled. The part is widely reported within the Jeep owner community to be a common failure for this vehicle generation, yet no recall or official remedy has been issued.Read more

At ~20,300 miles, severe chassis and steering wheel vibration occurred during high-speed highway descents while braking. Safety risk: reduced steering control at highway speed. The vehicle was inspected by a franchised Chevrolet dealer in Lakewood, CO. The technician's written service notes document rear rotor Lateral Runout (LRO) of 0.006 inches against GM's maximum allowable specification of 0.
... 002 inches per GM Service Bulletin 00-05-22-002 — 3x the engineering limit. The defect was confirmed in dealer documentation and is available for inspection. After I identified this discrepancy, the Service Manager claimed the technician meant 0.006 mm (metric). Photographic evidence from the dealer's own diagnostic video shows a dial indicator clearly labeled in 0.001-inch increments with the needle resting on the 6th tick mark. A metric reading of 0.0002 inches is physically impossible to display as 6 full divisions on this tool. GM Customer Assistance denied the warranty claim, classifying it as maintenance. Lateral Runout is a geometric specification, not a wear measurement. A rotor 3x out of tolerance at 20,300 miles is a material or assembly defect. No warning lamps appeared. The safety concern remains unresolved.Read more

While reversing into a parking space, the parking sensor system repeatedly indicated an obstacle on the left side of the vehicle even though no object was present. The system displayed a red warning on the left side and automatically applied the brakes very suddenly, causing the vehicle to jerk to a stop. I exited the vehicle to check the area and confirmed there was nothing on the ground or near
... the vehicle that would explain the warning. The surface was flat and clear. Because the system continued to detect a phantom obstacle on the left side, it repeatedly interfered with maneuvering the vehicle while reversing. During this situation the vehicle ultimately made contact with a pole behind the car, which I did not initially realize because the braking intervention was so abrupt. The parking sensor was damaged in the impact. The vehicle was inspected by a BMW dealership, and they stated diagnostics showed no malfunction prior to the collision, only that the sensor malfunctioned after the impact. However, this was not the first time the vehicle’s parking system has falsely detected an obstacle and locked the brakes while reversing, which raises concerns about the reliability of the parking-assist automatic braking feature. The sudden braking and false obstacle detection create a potential safety risk, particularly if the system unexpectedly stops the vehicle or interferes with maneuvering in tight spaces. I am reporting this incident so it can be investigated as a possible defect in the parking sensor or automatic braking system.Read more

The brake warning light remains illuminated on the dashboard even when the parking brake is fully disengaged and while the vehicle is in motion. Same when the car is on or turned off. The brake warning light remain on continuously. Because this warning light is associated with the braking system, it creates uncertainty about whether the braking system and related safety systems are functioning p
... roperly while the vehicle is being driven. This raises safety concerns. The vehicle currently has approximately 50,000 miles and has been regularly maintained. The vehicle was inspected by a Honda dealership. After evaluation, the dealership indicated the issue may be related to the VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist) modulator. However, they stated they cannot confirm with certainty that replacing this component will resolve the issue. This will be an expensive repair with no warranty that’s the issue. All other possible issues with pads brake system, wires…were discarded and no code showed on the initial test. Since this warning involves a critical safety system and the cause has not been clearly identified, I am concerned this may represent a potential defect or premature failure of a braking system component.Read more

I received a safety recall notice in September 2025 regarding my vehicle's rear flexible brake hose possibly having a leak. I have called on several occasions, to several Ford dealerships, since Se
... ptember 2025 to follow up on this safety issue and schedule a repair only to be told there are still no parts available. A leaking rear flexible break hose causes a huge safety concern and should be addressed in a more timely manner by the car company. It is now six months with no resolve. This type of fix does not entail creative engineering, it simply involves replacing a common car part. I believe this delay in repair has become negligent and needs to be documented for when there is a poor outcome due to delayed braking.Read more

I had two codes on my 2022 Forester over last two weeks. First one u0284 was for the Active Grill Shutter. This happened because for some reason Subaru decided to put the fog lights on the same fuse as the AGS. Fog light blew, shorted out blew the fuse, this caused every safety system in the car to turn off. By default these are open so why does loosing 1-2MPG, or longer time to warm up a

Had lane assist on , adaptive cruise, etc. Check engine went on and car start to rapidly decelerate, and again all safety features where turned off for something that is not fixed would potential cause reduce MPG, damage the catalytic converter, cause black smoke. None of this should require all safety features to be turned off. This is going to kill someone. I know your not suppose to have your hands off the wheel when using lane assist but people do it. I was in bumper to bumper traffic on 40 going 65 MPH. Not only would I have been at risk but everyone around me. Worse case is I do not have my hands on the wheel, the o2 sensor fails, car pulls into the car beside me and someone dies because Subaru wants money more than safety.Read more

I am looking to receive a little bit more assistance regarding my daughter's first car that she worked very hard for. It is a 2006 Toyota Prius. It was garage-kept and owned by an older couple who only put 85,000 miles on it. It is really a gem of a car. Soon after we registered the car, my daughter was out driving with her father. While going through a 4-way stop, she found that the brakes had f

Upon further investigation, we learned that there was a recall on the Brake Actuator Assembly in 2016. Which is the part that has failed and almost caused my 16 year old daughter to crash the car she worked hard for. I contacted the Toyota Brand Engagement Center. It was stated to me that the recall has expired, however, I feel that the fact that a recall was issued means that it was recognized by Toyota that the vehicle was sold with a faulty brake system. This, in and of itself, is a hazard and could be fatal. This should be addressed and the brake system should be replaced as it is no fault to any owner regardless of the recall expiry date. We look forward to your timely response on how we can remedy this very serious safety issue. Breaks went out on car.started out only when I hit a bump I’d loose them… turn car off and pump them back… now they are just gone! Replaced pads rotors calipers, now changing master cylinder.. from what I’ve read that won’t help but have to try! They should really put a recall out for this!

The brake booster vacuum pump, in the words of Meineke, massive failure. The pump locked up and exploded, there are parts of at least under the valve cover. The failure resulted in the ruining of the camshaft, as this pump is controlled by the camshaft. The end of my camshaft looks like a mushroom head. This failure is currently in the investigation part of a class action law suit in which I am ad
... ding my name to the hat. My wife was driving at the time and fortunately was not injured during this catastrophic failure with what seems like planned obsolescence. I am also glad the kids weren’t in the car when this happened. We had just crossed 100k miles.Read more

Vehicle experienced a catastrophic mechanical failure characterized by a percussive "shotgun blast" noise from the rear chassis, followed by an immediate, total loss of braking power (pedal to the floor) and a violent loss of directional stability. This incident represents an aggravated safety failure of known GMT900 platform defects. The technical chain of causality began with the factory exhaust
... manifold fasteners suffering a metallurgical shear, a universal defect documented under GM Bulletins 19-NA-218, PIP5075, and PIP4701. This shear created a high-velocity, high-heat exhaust leak directed at the brake master cylinder and vacuum assembly. This "heat soak" event compromised the engine-mounted mechanical Brake Vacuum Pump (Recall N192268490 / NHTSA 19V645) and destroyed the internal seals of the Master Cylinder (Special Coverage 15143 / NHTSA 11V599), resulting in total depletion of vacuum assist and hydraulic pressure. Simultaneously, the "shotgun blast" and violent swerve were caused by structural failure consistent with Rear Brake Caliper Bolt Fracture (GM 13247 / NHTSA 13V342) and Rear Axle Shaft/Pin Fracture (GM 14892 / NHTSA 14V819). This mechanical collapse caused the caliper to strike the wheel, resulting in a catastrophic rim blowout and immediate loss of tire pressure. Despite the vehicle having aftermarket long-tube headers installed, the root cause of the heat-related brake failure was the failure of the OEM GM manifold fasteners which snapped off in the cylinder head, as documented in the aforementioned bulletins. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, the manufacturer remains liable for these pre-existing safety-critical defects. The vehicle is at Glenn Polk Chevrolet for a 901-series Product Allegation Investigation (Case #90199492). This report is filed to demand federal oversight into these life-threatening defects. The combo of failed fasteners, rim blowout, and compromised braking created a vehicle that was both unable to be steered or stoppedRead more

I purchased a 2025 Chevy Equinox EV last year out of the local Chevy dealership It is my first brand new vehicle and I’m the only owner, I have only had this vehicle for a few months and it has already showed me significant issues with the Electronic components Main issues I’ve experienced are: Randomly shutting off Randomly phantom braking On star capabilities not working No access to W
... iFi or any apps on the touch screen I.e. maps, music, settings, volume, radio etc. A/C/heating unit not working won’t get cold or hot just blowing air Issues with charging (almost left me stranded multiple times) not fast charging Issues with my Chevy app Took the vehicle to the dealership to get looked at they have had it for a week already and have not given me any update except that I will need a new onstar module. The vehicle is not safe to drive and I’m afraid that it will shut off while I’m driving at a higher speed I.e. on the freeway or that it will phantom brake while I’m on the highway which can cause a life threatening injury This vehicle has not been in any accident No warning lights came on except one message that said service emergency calling No warning messages prior to any of these eventsRead more

The vehicle was delivered with a critical safety defect in the braking system and inoperable safety software (GPS/FSD/Navigation). Upon further inspection by the dealer's own technician, it was confirmed that the vehicle had 'EXTREMELY POOR BRAKE FEEL' and 'EXTREME RUST BUILD UP' on all pads and rotors, which violated Tesla’s 6mm minimum safety standard for used vehicles. Additionally, a physica
... lly damaged windshield harness caused the failure of GPS and FSD features. These defects posed a significant safety risk to myself and my family during operation. The dealer has documented and confirmed these safety issues but is now refusing a buyback and is retaliating with storage fees for my rejection of the unsafe product. No warning lights appeared prior to the technician's discovery of the brake defects.Read more

The vehicle has been virtually trouble-free for many years. Recently, it began to have some issues. The vehicle is covered under a lifetime warranty from Chrysler and has been serviced by the local Jeep dealer. We brought the vehicle in to service in November, 2025. One of the issues that had just occurred was that the brake warning lights came on. The dealer said they were not able to replace the
... AntiLock Brake module because they were backordered. They said the vehicle would be safe to drive. We waited a month and still no part. I reached out to the manufacturer, and they said the part was not in stock and I would be notified when they would be able to send it to the dealer. It is no about 5 months later and still no part. The part(s) show as available from the Manufacturer online, however they continue to say there are none available for our vehicle. The Dealer service department said this is not unique to us, that it is a constant problem for them to get this part from the manufacturer. We need the vehicle for transportation and are worried that the defective part may lead to brake failure and an accident.Read more

Crash
Incident date: Mar 9, 2026
This car is a very well-maintained, low-use vehicle with regular oil changes and routine maintenance performed on schedule. Early in this drive, I noticed an unusual hissing sound as I approached a stop. When I tried to brake, I realized my brakes didn't seem to be responding. I pressed the brake pedal harder and realized that with 50-100 pounds of pressure (guess), I could slow the car down.
... As I came to a stop, the engine died. I restarted the car, and it died again immediately. After the following restart, I realized I could manually keep the RPM up in neutral while at stops, and press with significant force to get the car to stop. Had I not been comfortable two foot driving or understood the issue, this surely would have resulted in a crash of some sort. The car indicated a check engine light, loss of traction control, a flashing BRAKE light, and a flashing cruise control light. I took the car immediately to a local shop where they identified the problem as a vacuum leak at the brake booster. The plastic piece that the hose clamps onto had cracked off, leading to this problem. This make and model does not seem to have a check valve downstream of this component.Read more

My jeep wrangler Abs module has failed and needs to be replaced. But Jeep decided not to make this part anymore and now me and a LOT of others can’t get a new abs Module. My jeep is way too dangerous to drive now. When accelerating from a stop the vehicle barely kicks in like the tires don’t know what direction to move. When I’m coming to a stop the breaks don’t work right due to the ABS
... module. This is a big safety concern and jeep needs to be held accountable and fix this issue. This is a major issue and needs to addressed before people get into accidents. I’m sure some people already have.Read more
