At speeds of 65-75, both with the adaptive cruise control enabled and disabled, I accelerated a little bit to pick up speed and pass another vehicle. The vehicle responded initially by gaining speed, then it feels like I hit something and the front brakes lock up for 1-2 seconds and the tires start screeching from sliding, then everything resumes to normal. I was very shocked during a recent roadt

March 5th purchased a battery from Autozone Z net Fit Match that caused cascading electrical and life -safety risk while traveling from hewitt, TX to Washington DC for our families spring break trip including 4 minor children. Component: 12-Volt Battery / Electrical System / Power Steering / Service Brakes Summary: Vehicle suffered catastrophic failure of Power Steering and Braking systems while
... in motion due to the installation of an incompatible lead-acid battery recommended by AutoZone’s 'Z-Net' catalog. Despite Toyota Technical Service Bulletin T-TT-0523-19 (Jan 2019) stating this VIN requires an Enhanced Flooded Battery (EFB/AGM) for its Stop-Start system, the retailer’s database continues to misidentify standard batteries as compatible. This mismatch causes a voltage drop that disables critical safety modules ('Limp Mode'). I have video evidence of the catalog error. This is a systemic misrepresentation affecting 2017+ Toyota Highlander safety compliance.Read more

Vehicle: MINI Cooper Clubman (Model R55) VIN: [XXX] Recall: NHTSA 23V-337 Dealer: Flow MINI of Raleigh, NC 1. COMPONENT FAILED: The Junction Box Electronics (JBE) failed due to moisture/water intrusion, producing electrical fault codes across all core systems including airbags, brakes, and a JBE communication fault. The vehicle is located at Flow MINI of Raleigh and is available for inspection.
... 2. SAFETY RISK: Recall 23V-337 identifies that moisture intrusion into the JBE can lead to corrosion, short circuit, and in rare cases a thermal event (fire). My vehicle's carpet is wet, confirming active water intrusion into the footwell where the JBE is installed. Airbag and brake faults appear exclusively when it rains or when the vehicle is washed, directly and unambiguously linking all symptoms to water intrusion. The vehicle is currently unsafe to operate. 3. DEALER CONFIRMATION: Flow MINI of Raleigh confirmed moisture/water intrusion is causing the JBE faults — directly reproducing the failure during a dealer-performed wash. The dealer declined the recall repair solely because [XXX] is not listed among covered states. 4. MANUFACTURER RESPONSE: MINI USA denied coverage exclusively on the basis that North Carolina is not included in the recall's geographic region. The defect itself has not been disputed. 5. BASIS FOR COMPLAINT: The recall's geographic restriction was established based on road salt usage. North Carolina roads do receive road salt treatment during winter weather events. The recall documentation (RCRIT-23V337-7125.pdf, Page 4, Item 12) explicitly names the JBE as a covered component. I request that NHTSA: (1) treat this as urgent given confirmed airbag and brake faults, (2) review whether NC should be included in the recall's geographic scope, and (3) compel MINI USA to perform the recall repair on VIN [XXX] at no cost. On March 20, 2026, while my 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron (VIN: [XXX] ) was parked in my private garage at approximately 98% battery charge, I attempted to start the vehicle and experienced a complete electrical system failure. All electronic systems failed simultaneously, including: brake system (Brake System Failure warning displayed), parking brake sensor, traffic/charging system, power windows, and side
... view mirrors. The vehicle could not be placed into neutral. AAA was dispatched and the vehicle required a jump-start to the 12-volt auxiliary system before it could be moved. The vehicle was towed to Audi Beverly Hills for inspection. The dealership diagnosed the fault as: Control Module Main Processor Performance, Symptom Code 20079, per Technical Service Bulletin TSB 2074484/3. Per that TSB, the dealer was instructed by Audi of America to create a PSS (Pending Service Solution) record, erase the fault memory, and release the vehicle to me with no repair performed. The stated guidance from Audi of America to the dealer was to inform me that this is "an extremely infrequent fault" that is "being reviewed." No fix exists. No timeline for a fix has been provided. The vehicle was released to me with the underlying defect unresolved. This is a known, manufacturer-acknowledged defect with no current remedy. As a fully electric vehicle, the Q4 e-tron's braking and all safety systems are electronically dependent. A recurrence of this fault while driving presents an unreasonable safety risk. I am requesting NHTSA investigate whether TSB XXX /3 and Symptom Code 20079 warrant a formal safety recall. I am filing this complaint regarding the inadequacy of American Honda's recall remedy under NHTSA Campaign 25V-859 (Acura Campaign RN5) for my 2016 Acura ILX (109,000 miles). This recall addresses a defective brake master cylinder that can reduce braking performance and increase stopping distances, posing an unreasonable risk of crash or injury. Despite this acknowledged safety defect, American H
... onda is refusing to perform the recall repair, stating that parts are limited and repairs are being prioritized only for vehicles already exhibiting symptoms of failure. My case (#16165247) has been closed with no remedy provided. I have contacted American Honda approximately five times over the past two months and receive the same answer. No repair, no loaner vehicle, no interim safety guidance, and no timeline for parts availability has been offered. Their guidance was "we can prioritize your repair once you notice your brakes begin to fail." My local Acura dealer was uncooperative, stating they have no parts and telling me to get American Honda to provide parts, placing the burden of obtaining them on me as the consumer. The defect symptoms (degraded braking and increased stopping distances) mean the vehicle is already unsafe by the time failure is detectable. Requiring owners to continue operating vehicles with a known braking defect until failure occurs exposes my family, including young children, to the exact crash risk this recall was issued to prevent. It's negligent and endangers the consumer due to failure of the manufacturer. I am requesting that NHTSA open a Recall Query into Honda's handling of 25V-859 and exercise its authority under the Safety Act to compel American Honda to either expedite the recall repair on my vehicle or provide a manufacturer-funded replacement vehicle or rental until the remedy is completed. The recall remedy is not being provided within a reasonable time, and no adequate interim safety measures have been offered.Read more

I own a 2018 Honda Accord equipped with Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS). The vehicle has experienced multiple instances of false collision warnings and phantom braking. The issue occasionally occurs when approaching overhead interstate signs. In most cases, the system flashes brake warnings briefly and then clears. However, on one occasion during rainy conditions a few years ago, the v
... ehicle unexpectedly applied the brakes at highway speed with no obstacle present. The vehicle has undergone multiple camera calibrations (this may have also included the radar), but the problem persists. This creates a serious safety hazard, particularly at highway speeds where sudden braking could result in a rear-end collision. The issue appears to be related to false object detection by the ADAS system, potentially involving radar or sensor misinterpretation.Read more

Battery was at 47%, confirming this is not a charge issue. The vehicle lost all drivetrain function without warning and could not be driven. This is a safety-critical defect - complete loss of propulsion and the inability to hold the vehicle in gear creates a risk of the vehicle rolling and a stranding hazard. The dealer has been unable to resolve the issue after three service visits. The problem has been confirmed and inspected by the authorized Stellantis dealer.Read more

While operating my 2024 Audi Q8 e-tron at 30 mph, I attempted to slow the vehicle to make a turn. Even as a secondary safety measure, the hydraulic brakes failed to provide adequate stopping power. This resulted in a significantly extended deceleration distance that nearly caused a collision. No warning lights appeared on the dashboard prior to this event, making the failure sudden and unpredictable. Please note that this happened shortly after driving 10 miles on a very hilly road and extensively using paddle shifters while driving downhill to force battery charging. Vehicle: 2024 Nissan Pathfinder Rock Creek 4WD VIN: [XXX] Mileage at failure: approximately 26,000 miles Component: Service brakes Description: Rear brake pads completely worn at 26,000 miles. Front brake pads remain in good condition with normal wear. Vehicle is driven under normal conditions — no towing, no off-road use, no aggressive driving. Rear brake pad part number D4060-6TA5B is the sam
... e part used across 2022-2025 Pathfinders. This pad cross-references to the Nissan Altima, a sedan weighing approximately 3,400 lbs. The 2024 Pathfinder Rock Creek weighs over 4,600 lbs and is rated to tow 6,000 lbs. The pad is not engineered for this vehicle’s weight or intended use. The fact that front brakes show normal wear while rears are completely gone proves this is not a driving behavior issue. The rear brake system is receiving disproportionate braking force relative to the capacity of the pads installed. This is a known pattern across the 2022-2024 Pathfinder lineup. A class action lawsuit has been filed: [XXX] v. Nissan North America, Inc., Case No. 3:25-cv-01183, [XXX] , filed 10/13/2025. NHTSA has received multiple prior complaints documenting identical rear brake failure on 2022-2024 Pathfinders at mileages as low as 12,000 miles. Dealer (Peters Nissan of Nashua, [XXX] ) declined warranty repair. Nissan Consumer Affairs notified, Case #XXX. Nissan classifies this as “normal wear and tear” despite failure occurring well within the 3-year/36,000-mile warranty period and despite front brakes showing no comparable wear. This is a safety defect. Premature rear brake failure without warning reduces stopping ability and puts the driver, passengers, and other motorists at risk. The rear braking system failed due to a sticking/seizing brake caliper. An independent inspection confirmed a severe thickness discrepancy: the outer pad was worn down to 3mm, while the inner pad remained at 7mm. This occurred at only 7,343 miles. I have the physical brake pads provided by the dealer; however, I have photographic proof that the dealer provided fraudulent, evenly worn pads upon veh
... icle pickup to tamper with evidence. Both the fraudulent pads and the original photos of the defective pads are available for inspection. The sticking caliper causes uneven braking force, increased stopping distances, and premature brake failure. This is a severe safety risk that could lead to a loss of vehicle control or a collision, especially under emergency braking conditions. Furthermore, the dealership's attempt to conceal this defect by swapping parts prevents proper safety documentation and potential recall actions. An independent service center (certified technician) confirmed the 3mm/7mm wear delta on March 19, 2026. The dealer (Northstar Mitsubishi) also initially confirmed the defect and processed it as a $0.00 warranty repair (Invoice #6048308) before rescinding the coverage and demanding payment. The vehicle was inspected by the authorized dealer (Northstar Mitsubishi) and an independent repair facility. I am currently requesting a formal inspection by Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) corporate. There were no dashboard warning lamps. The primary symptom was an excessive amount of brake dust accumulating on the rear wheels compared to the front, and a noticeable physical thickness difference between the inner and outer brake pads. These symptoms were first observed around 7,000 miles during a routine inspection. The defect was confirmed by an independent technician's measurement of 3mm (outer) vs 7mm (inner).Read more

All trailer connections were securely installed, free from any damage, and had functioned flawlessly for days prior. I was forced to continue to my destination without trailer brakes or trailer lights despite being stuck in a substantially strong thunderstorm with heavy rain and low visibility. When I reached my destination, I called my selling dealership to report the issue. I was told by the service advisor that they had "hundreds" of trucks on a wait list and that Ram was only sending them one repair part per week. He also stated that they hadn't recently received any parts and had no idea when more would become available. Their only suggestion was to "call and complain" to corporate, and that there was nothing more they could do. This incident with truck occurred on March 20th 2026. I am the original owner of a 2025 Hyundai Sonata purchased new in 2025. The vehicle currently has fewer than 4,000 miles on the odometer. Since early in my ownership, I have experienced a persistent and recurring squealing noise that occurs specifically when releasing the brake pedal after a short stop, and when transitioning from braking to acceleration. This is not an intermittent or weather/hum
... idity-related issue. The noise has been consistent and ongoing throughout my ownership and has not resolved on its own--I was thinking it might since new cars take some time to adjust. At under 4,000 miles, brake components on this vehicle should be essentially new. Brake pads are engineered to last between 30,000 and 70,000 miles under normal driving conditions. A persistent brake noise at this mileage cannot reasonably be attributed to normal wear and tear and is indicative of a manufacturing defect, defective OEM brake pad compound, or a sticking/dragging brake caliper that fails to fully release after braking. I note that NHTSA has previously investigated Hyundai Sonata brake behavior, including a technical bulletin concerning rear brake pads remaining in contact with rotors after a diagnostic self-check cycle, causing a dragging condition in the next drive cycle. My symptoms are consistent with this type of brake drag behavior. Multiple Hyundai Sonata owners have documented the same persistent squeal-on-release pattern on Hyundai owner forums, with some reporting the issue beginning within the first year of new vehicle ownership and dealers being unable to diagnose or resolve it. I have formally reported this issue to Hyundai Motor America Consumer Affairs prior to filing this complaint and have requested warranty coverage. Incident Description: On multiple occasions in January and February 2026, while operating a 2024 Mazda CX-5 in reverse on low-friction surfaces (snow/ice) with a slight incline, the vehicle suffered a total systemic failure. System Failures: While reversing at low speeds, the engine spontaneously shut off without warning. This resulted in an immediate loss of power braking and power steering. Si
... multaneously, the electronic gear selector (shifter) became non-functional, preventing the vehicle from being placed into 'Park' to stop the uncontrolled rearward slide. Safety Risk: The vehicle became a "runaway" object on several occasions. In one instance, the vehicle narrowly avoided crushing a pedestrian against another parked car, stopping only when the tires reached a different surface texture. In a separate incident, the vehicle slid uncontrolled down a residential hill, striking snowbanks. There is a grave concern regarding whether the Supplemental Restraint System (airbags) remains functional during these engine-stall events, as the dealer could not confirm occupant protection status during a total power loss. Inspection & Reproduction: The vehicle was presented to an authorized Mazda dealer on March 3, 2026. The service department attempted to replicate the issue by reversing over soapy water on a gravel surface. However, due to the high friction of the gravel, they were unable to induce the specific tire-slip/low-traction conditions required to trigger the malfunction. No error codes were found during an informal scan, and no warning lamps or messages appeared prior to or during the failures. Component for Inspection: The vehicle is available for inspection. I believe the failure is rooted in the traction control or engine management software, which appears to improperly shut down the powertrain when it detects specific wheel-spin patterns in reverse, subsequently disabling critical safety systems including brakes and transmission locks.Read more

03/15/26 Tried to start the car but it did not start. The display said Low Brake Power. This happened to brand new car. Called the Lexus 24/7 assistance, they jump start the car. Similar incident happened once again on 03/22/26. Called assistance they jump start the car again. The concern here is that it is happening to brand new car ran for only 2000-2400 miles. As the battery dies it becomes le

While driving for approximately 2 1/2 hours with cruise set at 78. I did need to brake on occasion and then resume speed. For no apparent reason the car suddenly braked. Speed dropped to about 50 and then immediately resumed speed. No one was hurt. Things in the back seat pushed forward. I don’t know if it has anything to do with that incident but from them until I returned home, about 1 hour

At the end of a downhill cloverleaf coming coming on and off a highway, the car slowed to a crawl but would not stop. It was going slowly as if "creeping" like when in B mode but was not in B mode. The brakes would not stop it. I was able to shift gears from Drive to N to P but no response, car continued to creep forward until it gently bumped into the back of an 18 wheeler. There was no collision
... alarm at the time. I turned the car on and off, and powering down seemed to re set the issue, but the collision alarm went off like 10 minutes later when there was nothing to set it off (seemed like it was just delayed). No error code came up, nothing. I submitted my claim to Volvo, esp since there are similar recalls so I thought it was a known thing, but apparently not reported on my exact make and model (there were not very many made). I did not know there was damage to my vehicle, and the truck driver and myself did not even get out, he didn't feel me, and I assumed the bumper just bumped him so no police report. This was an intermittant failure and after I re booted the vehicle I slowly drove home after brakes seemed to be working after power on/off. I did not know that it was my HOOD that bumped the truck. I did not know there was damage until I got home. If this car's make and model were NOT included in the recall, they should be. TERRIFYING. And volvo did not acknowledge or reassure. requested documentation on what they inspected, and did not receive.Read more

I had my foot on the brake, opened the garage door with my garage door opener, and before I took my foot off the brake the car surged, jumped, and smashed into the brick wall next to the garage. I did not put my foot on the gas.

Truck suffers problem associated with NHTSA 22V-150 but is not included in the recall. This occurs on highway driving while on cruise control. This can occur within just a few minutes of driving or extended period. Vehicle brake warning on dash occurs and says "Check Brake System", the brake pedal becomes very stiff and reduces braking of the vehicle. The brake light remains on until vehicle i

Subject: Brake Booster/Pump Assembly Failure – Toyota Program ZJB / 23TE07 Description of Incident: I am reporting a failure of the brake booster and pump assembly on my 3rd Generation Prius (82,000 miles). While the vehicle is 11.3 years old, it is well under the 150,000-mile threshold of Toyota’s Customer Support Program ZJB. The brake pump began cycling every 13 seconds, indicating an int
... ernal pressure leak in the accumulator. This is a documented precursor to a total loss of power-assist braking. Despite the clear mechanical failure, no warning lamps or Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) were triggered, creating a safety hazard where the system could fail without prior electronic notification. Repair and Cost Details: Because the vehicle was 1.3 years past the arbitrary 10-year "Secondary Coverage" window, I was forced to pay $3,461.18 out-of-pocket for a known manufacturing defect. I would like to highlight a discrepancy in labor billing: while Toyota’s own technical bulletins (ZJB/23TE07) state the repair should take approximately 5.3 hours, the dealership charged 8.9 hours of labor for the same procedure. Safety Concern: By limiting coverage to 10 years, Toyota has left many low-mileage owners with a critical safety defect that degrades over time regardless of mileage. I request that the NHTSA transition this from a "Customer Support Program" to a formal Safety Recall to ensure all affected vehicles are repaired and owners are reimbursed, regardless of the vehicle's age.Read more

I was driving in the evening on 2/7/26. The red brake light came on in the dash and seconds later the car went into limp mode. An alarm went off indicating that the hybrid system was not functioning. The braking performance decreased significantly. The car slowed down immediately and could not exceed 15 mph. My safety was extremely compromised. Luckily i was not on a high speed road or interst
... ate and was able to pull off onto a side road. If i had been on a busier road, I believe that i would have been in an accident. This could have seriously injured myself or others. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop. The braking pump was replaced and that rectified the problem so far. The old part has been disposed of. The problem was reproduced by the repair facility.Read more

I own a 2022 Audi e-tron Sportback that experienced multiple serious issues involving the high-voltage battery system. During service at Audi South Atlanta, the dealership documented diagnostic trouble code P29FF00 – Hybrid/EV Battery Thermal Runaway Detected. This code is related to battery overheating and potential thermal runaway, which is a critical safety condition in electric vehicles. D
... espite identifying this safety-related fault, the dealership did not perform any repair or replace any components. Instead, they cleared the fault codes and returned the vehicle to me stating it is operating as designed. Prior to and during this issue, the vehicle experienced: •Severe range reduction (approximately 60 miles at 60% charge) •Charging interruptions and warning messages •Regenerative braking malfunction •Abnormal energy consumption •Mechanical drag and braking irregularities These issues are consistent with a high-voltage battery or power system defect. The dealership’s decision to reset the fault code without addressing the underlying cause raises serious safety concerns. A thermal runaway-related fault should not be cleared and ignored, as it may indicate a risk of battery failure or fire. I am concerned that this vehicle may be unsafe to operate and that the defect was not properly diagnosed or repaired.Read more

I bought the car with 9 miles on it, and when I tried to use the windshield washer, it didn't work! I took it to the dealer, and they refused to fix it! They said the car was infested with mice and that it was my problem!!! The car is made with defective materials! All hoses and foam in the car are made from soy beans!! That is rat and mouse food!!!
