This first began when we went to Oregon from dry Central Valley in California and hit rain. Multiple error messages appeared: Service Advance Trac, Check 4x4, Hill Assist Not Available, ABS, Steering Assist Fault, etc. Power steering assist was lost and is now intermittent which creates a dangerous situation. The ABS brakes made load groaning noises. I went to O’Reilley’s and used their OBD2 s
... canner. It showed codes: U1012-00, U0212-00, U0121-00, P062C-00, all being communication errors. I got a new battery and had a shop scan it. The clockspring was bad so it was replaced with an OEM from Sunrise Ford. He can’t get any communication with any of the other modules. I researched the issues and disconnected the battery while I cleaned the ABS controller connection with electrical contact cleaner. I checked some of the grounding points that weren’t checked by the shop. All of the error messages are now gone except the STEERING ASSIST FAULT. My research showed that this may be related to a wheel speed sensor or the front hub that contains the sensor. It also might be the ABS controller. I entered Engineering Test Mode and have the following continuous DTCs: C40182, C12100, C41582, C42082, C15100, C21200, C42982, C10200. Since they all end in 00 or 82 I think they are likely related. I was told in an online forum that they are communication errors. I think that might apply to the 00 errors, but don’t know about the 82 errors. The truck has under 28,000 miles and the extended warranty expired in May 2024.Read more

The check engine light came on and we brought it to the shop where they said the code is for the electronic brake system modulator. It is also causing the ABS to malfunction and be hypersensitive. There is a recall for the same make/model/year of vehicle, except the month before her car was manufactured. I believe this is a safety issue that needs to be looked into and that her car should also be

On Thursday [XXX] I was driving my new 1500 Big horn ram truck. I only had it for 6 days at that point. I started noticing a noise coming from inside the dashboard and the check engine light came on. I kept driving as usual because i figured the light would go off. All of a sudden a big metal ring the size of my palm fell on my shoe and all the warning lights came on the dash ( the brake failure l
... ight, adaptive cruise control unavailable light, parking sensor failure light, check engine light, traction control malfunction light, brake system light, abs failure light). When i tried to brake, the brakes went all the way down and felt very spongy. I had to pump the brakes just so it would stop. So I pulled over into a parking spot turned off the truck and started it back up. The truck started up, but all the lights were still on. I tried to shift into drive but it wouldn't go in gear. I think is because the brake weren't going far enough to push whatever sensor allows the shifter to shift. I tried pumping the brakes and shifting and it worked. So i drove the truck home very carefully and parked it in my driveway. The next morning I called my sales man and left him a msg. He called me later that evening and asked me to bring it in on Monday morning. I did not use the truck during the weekend because it felt very unsafe to drive. On Monday morning i drove it to the dealership and left it there. They did give me a loaner vehicle. 2 days later I got a call from Dave the service manager and he let me know that the ring that fell on my foot holds a brake pedal in place and that they were going to replace the entire brake pedal assembly, the abs module, the brake booster and some ecm (i didn't understand which one). This truck has been unusable now for 7 days and I've only owned it for 13 days. It's been in the shop for 5 days now. I experienced an incident related to the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) yesterday afternoon. I was driving on a highway at ~40mph and as I went through a (clear) intersection, my car suddenly decelerated, jerking me forward. Thankfully, I was wearing my seat belt and the car behind me left enough room between us, so there was no impact.

After leaving the supercharger (car charged to 92%) I came to a stop light. The car was NOT in autopilot. I took my foot off the accelerator pedal. I turned the car to try to avoid hitting the car in front of me while pressing on the brake. B
... rakes still would not work and I slammed into the car in front of me. I believe that the car was not able to put the energy from the acceleration back into the battery (regenerative braking technology) and therefore pushed it back into acceleration mode. I also believe this caused the brakes to not work. I know there have been many recalls in China and other complaints of the same issue. I've had the car for 2 years and had never had this problem before. Another note when the accident happened the screen was showing a software update that wanted to be installed. This was a very disturbing and rattling happening and I'm not worried to drive the car after a super charge.Read more

While driving approximately 40mph down straight roadway without anything around, the vehicle has unexpectedly slammed on the brakes. This has happened four times to date (11/13/24 - 12/25/24). During two of the instance's lights flashed on the dashboard and indicated the front right corner sensor of vehicle. During the other two occurrences, lights flashed on the dashboard and indicated the sensor
... at the rear right corner of vehicle, even though the vehicle was again traveling forward at approx. 40mph. In each case the brakes were unexpectedly applied very hard for several seconds before returning to normal. There were no other vehicles around and no dirt or other obstructions to the sensors. Vehicle was brought into dealer for diagnostics and was told they could not duplicate the concern. I asked the dealership to contact Kia for support and they refused. I then contacted Kia directly asking for assistance in getting this resolved. They responded that they rely on diagnostics from the dealership and only if the dealership can duplicate the issue will anything be done. This is an extremely dangerous drivability issue of which the dealer agrees. But since they have not witnessed it firsthand, no further action is being taken to attempt to find and/or replace whatever part is malfunctioning. In searching the NHTSA website, I see several complaints where individuals have experienced strikingly similar complaints (NHTSA # 11538285, 11485486, 11457515, 11457281, 11589381) with this vehicle.Read more

I started to hear a grinding noise from the center-underside of my car about 4 months ago. I did some research and found that many BMW customers had experienced the same noise and the diagnosis was a parking brake line that drops on the main driveshaft after breaking free of the plastic support that is supposed to hold it in place. A video with sound of of the problem can been seen/heard here -
... [XXX] I had my BMW dealer look into the problem and his diagnosis was the same. The plastic clip that holds the parking brake cable in place had broken. And when the cable drops it rubs on the driveshaft making the grinding noise. A copy of the estimate to repair is attached. So far this failure has not caused any problems with either the parking or drivability of the car. The concern that I have is that the clip failure could lead to either a brake failure or a failure of the driveshaft. The problem seems to occur for a number of BMWs and it appears to be a significant safety problem that should be addressed by BMW. New car making 65-75 db loud constant clunking noises when turning steering at stopped. 1st dealer visit, it said it’s normal because they have other of same model making same noises. 2nd visit, dealer said it’s noises from brake binding and it’s normal and showed me another car of same model making same noises. Problem is not resolved. When brake pedal is pressed, there shouldn’t be bind
... ing on new car. Binding means brake pad is slightly touching the rotor when brake pedal is released. When pressed, pads should firmly grip the rotor. Not gripping firmly means the caliper is pushing the pad against the rotor. Uneven brake pad shouldn’t be causing it either since it brand new. And it’s not brake bedding-in either. It’s now at 1944 miles. Brake binding is what the dealer say but could potentially be suspension problem and there are more of this model making same noises. No waning light. I have my traction control light show up on the dash. Took my truck to a mechanic thinking it might be my ABS Sensors. The code came up showing I am in need of the ABS Control Module. On our drive back from Yosemite, we began descending from Groveland, CA after leaving the Rivian charging station. Due to heavy rain, the car ahead of me was moving cautiously, limiting my speed to about 20 mph while maintaining a safe distance during the descent to Moccasin, CA. Thanks to the regenerative braking, I didn’t need to apply the brakes, as the car automatically slowed when I wasn’
... t pressing the throttle. However, my windows started to fog up, so I turned on the defoggers. Shortly after, I noticed the car’s door locks repeatedly unlocking and locking by themselves. As we neared the bottom of the descent, I began to smell something burning from the vents. This prompted me to step on the brake pedal for the first time, but it felt unusually stiff, with little travel. The car didn’t slow down, and the burning smell intensified. I pressed the brake pedal repeatedly, but it felt stuck, and the car did not decelerate. Eventually, I was able to roll to a stop. I pulled over to a side street where the issue persisted. I turned off the defogger and contacted Rivian via SOS. We were able to replicate the brake issue on the side street: as I maneuvered the car, the brake pedal sank on its own when the defogger was on. Once I turned it off, the pedal returned to normal. There were no warning lights or alerts from the car system. When I got out of the car, the burning smell was strong near the front wheels. It was clear that my family’s safety was at risk, including 3 young children. The car was towed to a service center, where it’s being inspected. Rivian hasn’t been able to reproduce the issue yet. I believe the regenerative brakes weren’t working properly, causing the car to rely on the regular brakes for the entire descent. This likely led to brake failure at the bottom, with the burning smell originating from overheated brakes. I also suspect that the overheating caused other electrical issues, which could explain why the door locks kept cycling on and off.Read more

... nt left driver side of the vehicle then struck the jersey barrier and vehicle did continue to spin and then struck passenger rear side of the vehicle on the jersey barrier. currently has $17k in damages to the vehicle. I was not injured at the time but currently experiencing lower back pain. there was no lights or warnings on dash until immediately after the collision. I had the ABS HBU replaced a few months back and was told the new unit was part of the old stock and would most likely fail. which it did. unfortunately i am one of the people in this world who could not afford to not drive my vehicle as the truck was $70k new and i still am currently driving it due to not being able to afford to replace it of park it and rent a vehicle. The HBU has been a known issue in these trucks for the passed year and they just issued a recall on 12/08/2024. this problem was first noticed on 05/08/2024. was taken to dealer shortly afterward and was told that these are known to fail and currently no remedy to the issue. as of 01/07/2025 there is still no remedy or time on when parts are available for replacement.Read more

The brake booster and vacuum pump keep failing. I’ve replaced the booster 3 times and the pump 2 times the first time the pump went it broke off and broken pieces of metal had to be taken out of the engine. I’m making payments on a vehicle that is in the shop repairing the same issue every 3 to four months.

The front brakes prematurely failed at 5,000 miles and this is a brand new vehicle. We had 3 miles or so at purchase (purchase date: August 7, 2024). By January 4, 2025 or so, the front brakes began making grinding noises. We had a licensed, independent shop inspect this and then replace the worn brakes on January 6, 2025. We have driven the vehicle as we have driven other vehicles and we have ne
... ver seen brand new brakes wear out after 5,000 miles with standard driving. We believe it could be due to the driver assistance technology and would like this to be thoroughly reviewed. Hopefully, Kia can reimburse us with some discount on other routine maintenance as this is a cost we did not expect so soon with a brand new vehicle.Read more

Brakes grab hard at 4 MPH. I've had to software updates from a Ford dealer. It helps for about 100 miles then comes back. Initially, the software was put in because the brakes were grabbing dangerously at a fast speed and I would often hear a loud bang. But the software got rid of that issue and now left me with the current brake issue at 4 MPH. It sometimes causes a "hard stop". I have recently b
... rought it into two different Ford dealerships to be checked out. One said, "cannot duplicate the issue" and the other one said, "it seems find. It's typical for a Ford Maverick". I did my own research and there's plenty of others with the same issue. It can be dangerous in some situations.Read more

Car seems to be having issues with its brake function, especially in traffic or when coming to a complete stop from a distance. Also I am in fear that the issue will emerge while I am driving and I will not use the car with my 10 month old daughter.

We have taken our 2013 Honda Odyssey several times to the shop because the brakes don’t feel safe. They seem to work fine but the brakes pedal is spongy. Keeping the brake pedal slightly pressed with the engine running, the pedal continues to sink almost to the floor. So far we have spent over $1000 for a new brake booster, new master cylinder, brake fluid flush and brake bleeding. The shop bled
