I am deeply concerned and appalled about the safety issue with the 2017 Toyota Camry, which rolled back while it was parked in the driveway of my parents’ house, and resulted in my mother’s foot being crushed. She is currently hospitalized and has been dealing with complications and damages related to this injury. At the time of incident, my father called 911 and paramedics arrived to the scen
... e, and took my mom to the emergency room. I do not have a police report. This dangerous malfunction, which caused the vehicle to move despite being in a parked position, poses serious risks to driver and passenger safety. It is unacceptable that a vehicle of this nature could fail to securely hold its position, leading to injury. We are seeking a thorough investigation into this issue to prevent further harm to others. The vehicle is available for inspection upon your request.Read more

Service parking brake comes on, steering reduced. Problem reoccurring often, but intermittently. Actuators malfunctioning causing many sensors to fail off and on. Huge safety concern for myself, my riders, and anyone else on the road. When this happens my car has to “think” to move unless you clear the pop up message. Check engine light comes off and on at its leisure. When steering reduced co
... mes on the car will not move until ready. This is clearly affecting electrical things as when I shut power off to other supplies it sometimes becomes more frequent as well as less frequent. The car does not understand what to do as its computers are confused at what the problem is, as the problem does not consistently happen. I have print outs of one time I caught it with failing actuators. I refuse to go to the dealership as I’m told “oh the problem isn’t happening now.” Which negates safety of all people on the roadways. You’re more than welcome to inspect. Though I will be present as I refuse to be told there’s no problem. As previously stated this happens when it wants to happen, but again I’ve caught the issue and can supply information.Read more

When I was at work and driving in the parking lot the brake pedal went to the floor. I realized that I didn't have any brakes so I used my emergency brakes to stop. I checked and looked to find the problem: the pressure brake line was leaking under the car before the gas tank. I got my vehicle towed home by AAA. The next day I called the local dealership for the part and they didn't have one and s
... aid they could not get one. I waited for the snow to clear here in NC and for the weather to warm up before attempting to replace the line, my next option was the vehicle recycling center (Junk Yard). When I went to look at same-year models and vehicles, they were all rusted in the same place. Please look into this problem before someone gets killed.Read more

I took my Jeep in to be serviced by my mechanic due to the ABS, brake and traction control lights being on. The issue is the ABS module is faulty. I was told I could drive it but use caution in rain and ice. I was also told by my mechanic he had another customer with the same issue and it took the customer several months to find the part. Now, I need to begin the hunt for a dealership that has an
... ABS module and be charged about $2000 including labor costs. Why is this happening to the ABS modules? Is the ABS module faulty to begin with? My Jeep has about 62,300 miles on it. Why am I having to replace a part that should last the life of the vehicle? Yes, many years ago vehicles did not have ABS. Now, modern vehicles do. When the ABS module fails it can cause too many issues for the vehicle plus it’s not only putting the occupants of the vehicle in danger but also others on the road. So then why are so many Jeep owners having to replace the ABS module when it should be a long-lasting component?Read more

Driving on a regular paved road following the speed limit (35 miles per hour) when the automatic emergency braking system engaged randomly; the car speed went from 35 miles to a near and sudden stop and almost caused a rear-end collision. Phantom braking. This is the second time this has happened with no visible reason in terms of road conditions or flying birds, blowing trash, etc. that could exp
... lain this. I am afraid to drive the car out of fear that Phantom Braking will cause an accident/potential injuries. I cannot imagine this happening on a freeway at higher speed—distater. I was driving on a viaduct (on the top level with car traffic below and on the first occasion, with a river running below). Could it be that the safety features such as camera sensors are misfiring and putting people in real danger. It makes no sense for safety features such as are making driving more dangerous than without them. I am going to have to spend $250 for Honda mechanic to diagnose and who knows how much to repair it, but it is clearly an engineering/mechanical problem created by Honda. This vehicle also fewer than 40K miles on it despite being a 2018 model. Please, please require Honda to issue a recall before something tragic happens.Read more

On [XXX], while driving, the brakes on my vehicle unexpectedly seized, causing all four wheels to catch fire. This incident resulted in significant damage, including the burning of the brake lines. The vehicle was promptly towed to Wide World BMW in Spring Valley, NY, for repairs, as it is covered under the bumper-to-bumper warranty. Following the incident, I was informed that a team from BMW Nor
... th America would inspect the vehicle due to the severity of the malfunction. I have since been advised that BMW North America is denying liability, claiming that third-party work may have been performed on the brake system. However, both Wide World BMW and I categorically refute this assertion. All maintenance on my vehicle has been exclusively performed by authorized BMW service centers, and there is no evidence to suggest that any third-party work was done. The damage being attributed to third-party work is, in reality, a direct result of the fire caused by the brake system malfunction. Wide World BMW has reviewed the case and agrees that BMW North America should assume responsibility for addressing this issue. On or about [XXX] my Ram 3500 showed a check engine light indicating to service the HCU/ABS system. After researching this I discovered there was a problem with the HCU/ABS in the Ram 3500. At the time there was no recall for the part. I found the part and replaced the part. On or about 1/25 I received a recall notice from the manufacturer. I proceeded to their website and submitted the requ
... ired documents for reimbursement. I was promptly denied reimbursement: "Dear Mr. [XXX] , Good day! We understand that this was not the decision that you were hoping for, and we apologize for that, but that is the decision of the company based on the information provided. There is no installation cited and it is not eligible for reimbursement. We look forward to the chance to assist you in the future, and we thank you for being a Ram customer. Regards, Therie Ram Customer Care " I called and talked to several representatives, however, they still will not reimburse for the part. I explained to the representative that I did the work myself and indicated this on the reimbursement form (did the work myself was a selection). I explained this repair was a safety issue, dealers were charging $1500-$2000 to do the repair, and the time of this issue the replacement part was on a nationwide shortage. The dealer could give me no timeframe on when they could secure the part. Due to these reasons I kept looking until I finally found the part and did the repair myself. I provided proof of purchase from the dealer, credit card statement showing payment and offered to take a picture of the old part and installed part side by side as I still have the old part. They still denied reimbursement. Is there anything you can do? It doesn't seem fair that the manufacturer of a defective part gets to make the rules for reimbursement and can deny any disputes the consumer has with their decisions. It seems the NHTSA should have a say in this. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

While driving at a high speed in the left lane of a 2 lane interstate a car in the right lane merged into me. While driving on the interstate, the "brake", "TCS", and "ABS" lamps lit up. The brake pedal was stiff and couldn't be depressed. The vehicle initially did not decelerate while attempting to push down on the brake pedal. While maneuvering off the interstate on to the exit lane, the pedal remained stiff however, the vehicle did begin to decelerate. Critically, the amount of time needed to bring the
... vehicle to a stop was significantly longer than normal. This brake failure could have resulted in a catastrophic, life threatening and/or deadly accident. The DTC associated with this brake booster and pump failure is C1391 which is referenced in TSB-0024-19. This is a known problem that exists in Priuses manufactured between 2010-2015 and addressed by Toyota with CSP(s). The CSP takes a reactive approach to this serious safety concern as owners who "have not experienced the condition described" were informed that "there is no action necessary at this time". The extended warranty of 10 years or 150,000 miles is not applicable to countless drivers who are experiencing this failure caused by "internal malfunctions" outside of this arbitrary time/mileage frame. A letter was sent to the NHTSA on 9/19/19 by the president of Claremont and Capistrano Toyota to petition for the initiation of a Defect Investigation regarding this issue. The letter notes that this brake defect is "causing crashes that are injuring people- and Toyota is mishandling it". The advisor assigned to this repair estimated that they see this issue 1-2 times a month and increasingly, drivers are not covered by the CSP. Toyota is failing to take a proactive approach to this dangerous safety issue by telling owners to essentially wait and see if they experience this failure and then failing to take responsibility for said costly failure should it occur outside of their arbitrary time/mileage frame. This approach to safety is egregious, irresponsible, and unethical and it is putting countless lives at risk.Read more

After a quick search online, I have found several cases of the ABS module malfunctioning on this vehicle requiring a new module and programming.
