This is a 2014 Jeep Cherokee, this model DOES have a recall for water leaking in through the truck. That causes the electronic parking break module to short out and lock the parking brake in as engaged. My jeeps vin however is not a part of the recall for some reason, this part was replaced on 4/16/22. Today 3/9/2023 the parking brake engaged and was locked on when we put the car in park. The sp

I bought my 2022 KIA Soul September 2021. in 2022, I brought my car to KIA in Clifton NJ because it shut down suddenly without warning while in drive, the battery, oil and engine lights came on. I would put my car in park, turn it off and on again for the car to start. by doing so, all the lights disappear and my car would drive like normal. KIA said the couldn't find the issue. I brought it back
... to KIA again in October of 2024 because my car did the very same thing as it did in 2022. Once again, KIA stated they couldn't find the issue. March 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th, 2025, my car started shutting down on me every 10 minutes while in drive, my car would then start reversing while in drive and the breaks would become very stiff. In order for my car to stop, I had to put my car in park, turn it completely off and then on again for it to drive. My car is now at KIA dealership in Clifton NJ, once again, they keep telling me they don't know what's wrong with my car. I am afraid I may get on the highway with my car and get into a terrible accident and thats when they will find the issue. I am afraid for my daughter and my life at this point. I am now driving a rental that KIA refuse to pay for until they figure out the issue. I was told, they would only pay for a rental if the issue is covered under my warranty. I have been complaining about this issue to KIA since year 2022 and nothing has been resolved. I need help resoling this issue with KIA, I called corporate and they were no help.Read more

I own a manual transmission MK8 Golf R, the ‘hill assist’ system cannot be turned off. The brakes will hold for 2-5 seconds after being released even on very slight inclines. I unfortunately upgraded from a 2017 MK7 Golf R manual that was damaged in an accident (I was not at fault). In that model VW the hill assist or ‘auto hold’ was able to be turned off with a button. The new models ‘a

The brake actuator has stopped functioning properly in my 2013 Toyota Prius that has 124,000 miles. NHTSA is welcome to inspect my car. I took my car to a Toyota Service Center because of a noise that cycles every 15 seconds. The mechanic said the noise "is in fact coming from the accumulator of the brake boosters." He said it's kind of like a battery--it may go out tomorrow or next year and it
... would be $3,957 for the job, but recommended to wait until it completely goes out. I was shocked he said this when I later read online this is a very dangerous problem that should not be ignored and should be fixed right away. I learned that Toyota issued an extended warranty for this known problem yet my car is not eligible because it's been more than 10 years. No warning lamps or messages have appeared. I'm afraid to drive my car and would never have bought it if I'd known how frequently this happens in this generation of Prius. I can't even sell it in its current state because no one will want to pay a $4,000 repair cost.Read more

Incident date: Mar 1, 2025
My 2020 GMC Terrain (under 100K miles) was running great until one day, after starting the vehicle, I shifted into reverse and felt soft brakes before the engine suddenly shut off. A licensed mechanic diagnosed the issue, pointing to Technical Service Bulletin #PIP5835, which identifies a defective brake vacuum pump. This failure caused damage to the exhaust camshaft and timing belt, ultimately l

They advised me to pay for their diagnostics and repairs, then file for a "Goodwill Repair," which they admitted was unlikely to be approved. Meanwhile, GM has since replaced this defective vacuum pump with an electric version, acknowledging the flaw—yet leaving owners like me to cover the cost. I believe GM should stand behind their product and take responsibility for this engineering failure, instead of forcing customers to absorb the expense.Read more

The vehicles emergency brake engages itself while the vehicle is in drive. I’ve reported this to my dealership, they say they’ve never heard of this issue. I’ve reported the issue twice. This is an obvious safety issue because the vehicle is randomly braking and coming to a complete stop while it is in drive. The brake signal comes on and there is no way to regain control of the vehicle unl
... ess you put the car in park and turn it off and on again. The emergency brake button also does not work during this time. This often happens when driving after a stop light. The vehicle begins to move and suddenly the brake engages itself, and the car stops this has almost gotten me rear ended on several occasions. I’m forced to throw on my hazards and rush to regain control of the vehicle . All the while holding up traffic, cars honking and trying to get past me. This issue was not confirmed to me by the dealer. They seem to act as if they haven’t heard of this issue. I’ve researched online and other Jeep brand owners are experiencing the same exact issue. My vehicle was purchased brand new and hadn’t been in any accidents before this problem began. It started the year I purchased and still happens till this day. I’ve tried to get to the bottom of the issue but I’ve been quoted $1000 to change both batteries without promise that this will resolve the issue. I don’t want to pay out of pocket for an indefinite resolution that the company should take care of because they sold the vehicle to me with this safety issue. I’ve looked for recalls that depict my exact issue for my make and model and I haven’t seen any. This needs to be investigated because many people bought their cars with this same safety hazard so why isn’t Jeep taking accountability!Read more

I took my 2019 Ram 1500 to a Ram dealer on 10/21/2024 for the Anti-lock Breaking System Module Configuration Mismatch safety recall 75B/NHTSA 24V-653. There were no warning lights on in my vehicle when it was dropped off. When the dealership attempted to apply the safety recall it caused something in the ABS module to fail, and they then said I needed a new ABS module that will cost $500-$700 to r
... eplace. This failure has disabled traction control, antilock braking, and auto start/stop. The dealer said they did not have the ABS module and had no ETA as to when it would be in stock. The ABS module has been out of stock nationally for months with no estimated time of availability. Now, there are warning lamps and messages for the ABS and Traction Control. Now, I am unsure if the vehicle is safe to drive in adverse conditions where ABS and traction control would likely be needed. At the very least, a major part like an ABS Module should be available for a fairly late model vehicle. This defect "repair" has obviously caused the ABS Module failure. The dealer tried to say there was already something wrong with the ABS Module before the repairs were attempted, but neither I nor they noted any warning lamps or messages before the repairs were attempted. If the module had already failed but did not produce any warnings, that sounds like another defect that they should be required to repair.Read more

submitting a formal complaint to NHTSA regarding unresolved safety defects in my 2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. Despite Safety Recall 251 issued in December 2023 for an ABS fire hazard, my vehicle continues to experience sudden loss of acceleration, engine shutdowns, and persistent dashboard warnings. Failed Recall Repairs & Lack of Transparency Since receiving the recall notice, my vehicle has bee
... n serviced multiple times at Thompson Hyundai in Dundalk, MD, yet the defects persist. When I requested service records to verify recall repairs, I was told that Thompson Hyundai’s acquisition by Heritage prevents them from providing full documentation—only three edited records missing key details. This raises concerns about: 1.Whether recall repairs are actually resolving safety defects. 2.Hyundai’s failure to maintain proper repair documentation. 3.The risk that other Hyundai vehicles remain unsafe due to incomplete recall fixes. Life-Threatening Breakdowns & Financial Hardship Since Hyundai’s supposed “fix,” my vehicle has broken down at least eight times, including major highways and intersections. On [XXX], on [XXX], my car suddenly lost power in heavy traffic, nearly causing a multi-vehicle accident. As a result: •I lost my job due to missed work from repeated breakdowns. •I suffered severe emotional distress, including PTSD-like symptoms and asthma attacks requiring medical attention. •I am facing financial instability from lost income and costly rental vehicles. Request for NHTSA Investigation Given Hyundai’s failure to resolve these defects, I urge NHTSA to: 1.Investigate whether Hyundai’s recall repairs fully resolve the defect. 2.Review dealerships’ recall documentation practices. 3.Determine if further regulatory action is needed to protect consumers. I am pursuing direct resolution with Hyundai but am bringing this to NHTSA in the interest of public safety. I appreciate your review and look forward to your response. We have had several issues with our vehicle from early ownership, such as, (1) signal light goes from very fast blinking to working. We have taken it to the dealership and are told they cannot duplicate the issue. It seems to correct itself when you turn off the truck and turn it back on. (2) the digital screen about the steering wheel where all all your gauges are have gone completely black.
... I took it to the dealership and was told that they had to keep the truck until they could duplicate the issue, but again, turning off and then turning it back on seemed to help. Sometimes it works on the first restart, and others it takes a few times and longer times between restarts. (3) OnStar has stopped communicating with my vehicle about a year, year and half in. (4) Google maps has never worked. (5) Remote starts works sometimes. (6) Auto-shut off works sometimes. (7) Air Conditioner started having issues last summer. We have to turn off and on the vehicle or rev up the engine so that it will kick in. This works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. (7) ESC and traction control lights came on, the truck starts shaking, and brakes locked. Truck had to be towed to nearest dealership. The truck only had 12K miles when this happened. (8) Around the same mileage, an injector had to be replaced. (9) Now at 52K miles, we have the ESC, traction control, and check engine light again. Truck is shaking, feels like the gears are slipping when you press on gas, and has white smoke coming from the mufflers. These issues have been report to both local dealership and GM corporate office. these issues have left us stranded 300 miles from home and has left us without air conditioner in 3-digit weather when we had our grandbaby with us.Read more

I sent following to Tesla I had an accident at around 6:30 PM on Sunday, March 2nd with my Tesla Model 3 and asking to see if you can conduct a diagnostic check into this incident. I was coming home at that time with the Tesla and about 100 yards from my house, I experienced a sudden acceleration with the car going from about 20mph to, I think, over 40 mph and crashed into the garage area of
... my house. Around the time I started experiencing that unwanted acceleration, I heard a whining sound. As it started that sudden acceleration, I checked below to make sure my right foot was pressing on the brake pedal and it was. Since I have the regenerative braking with my tesla, the car should have decelerated but, instead, it sped up. I continued to press the brake pedal but I could not mitigate my car’s continual acceleration. It eventually crashed through the lowered garage door and went through the right side of the garage wall about half way out and came to the stop. I was driving myself and not engaged in self-driving feature. I like to see if the Tesla has any resources available to retrace last few seconds and be able to glean more information of why that sudden acceleration might have happened. The car is still located in my garage but currently the car is disabled and powered off. The car’s power was on and it automatically turned on emergency light for about 30 minutes after the accident before it eventually powering off. I am also curious to know why none of the airbags were deployed in this accident. I have many photos available of the accident. The fire department and police came and assisted. I do not know if this matters but the couple of nights before the car had one of those over the air updates by Tesla and also about couple of minutes before the accident I drove through about a minute of hard rain in otherwise light rainy drive. I also wonder why auto-braking did not engage against the house.Read more
