I was driving on the highway yesterday when all of a sudden several errors flashed on my dashboard, and my gas pedal stopped working. When I pulled over, I noticed an error code that read: "Brake System Problem. Brake performance may be reduced". Not only did I lose all acceleration control, but the error codes tell me there are brake issues. After researching online it seems like many others have

Brake on driver side front became super hot and started dragging causing the steering wheel to shake. Dealership stated calipers are fine need pins replaced. Pins on back order. In the meantime they cleaned the pins and re-lubed them and said I was good to go until the parts come in. 5 days later same exact thing. Now my tire is discolored (brownish)and my rotor is also discolored and rusted and

I own a 2015 Toyota prius, purchased new and put in service December 4th, 2014. Car is well maintained. On May 10th, 2025 The Brake booster pump and assembly failed. Has internal leak. Toyota issued instead of a recall, which would have been the right thing to due considering its long history of these over multiple years failing, just a customer service letter. 10 years or 150,000 miles, which ever comes first. Mine failed at 10 1/2 years. Now I am stuck with a $3,000 bill which I can not afford, to replace the Brake booster pump and assembly. It is not clear which rear brake component is failing. It seems to be either the master cylinder or the ABS control module, but nothing seems to be conclusive. Very common problem it appears as there are several forum post from other accord owners 2013 and above that have all reported dash lights up with traction control, tire pressure, power steering, ABS and some instances Brake will illuminate on the dash board, and some have reported a combination of these lights or all of them. The culprit is a broken solder on the ABS module from my understanding
... and its something Honda is aware of but have not recalled. The part itself costs $1500, just for the part and does not include labor. This is a common issue that should be taken care of by honda as its a huge safety issue with the ABS, Traction control, power steering, tire pressure monitoring and brake not working when needed in an emergency situation. Once inside the vehicle I confirmed that the parking brake had been released. I was ultimately able to get the truck started and driving in a normal condition. The parking brake has not malfunctioned since. The key fob / truck connection continues to malfunction to various degrees. Sometimes no response, sometimes no remote start, sometimes the truck will be running and display a dashboard message indicating the key fob is not present leaving the truck running but “locked” in park. During this parking brake incident the vehicle was parked and locked with the parking brake set as normal (on or about May 10 , 2025). It was on level ground in a parking lot. No other vehicles were parked near mine. It was morning time, the truck was “cold” after being parked all night. No other unusual condition were noted. Weather conditions were dry and mild (50 degree temperatures). The remote connection issues have been going on about 6-8 months. I have replaced the battery in the remote 2x with no improvement. The vehicle has been inspected by the selling dealer once for the fob with no results (April 17, 2025). I have an appointment for the latest issues on June 2 2025. The braking system of my 2023 Genesis GV70 has exhibited recurring failures, specifically the brake pedal and the ABS module. Since February 2025, the vehicle had ongoing brake pedal issues that required approximately 30 days of repair, during which the ABS module was replaced on April 24, 2025. The vehicle remains available for inspection in its current “as-is” condition as per manufacturer i
... nstructions until the Event Data Recorder (EDR) data is retrieved. On May 4, 2025—just 10 days after the ABS module replacement—the vehicle was involved in an accident. The unresolved braking issues likely contributed to the crash, directly endangering driver safety and that of others on the road. The dealer addressed the brake pedal and ABS issues during repairs, but no definitive resolution or independent confirmation has been made regarding the root cause. The problem persists as a potential safety hazard. The vehicle has been inspected by Progressive Insurance representatives. Initially, Genesis verbally approved my insurer’s certified third-party expert to retrieve the EDR data. However, Genesis reversed this approval and now insists that only their internal vendor may access the data, which could take 6–8 weeks—delaying independent investigation and resolution. This restrictive approach obstructs transparency and raises concerns about the integrity of the investigation. It has been three weeks since the accident and Genesis has yet to take steps to have the vehicle inspected or scheduled inspection. The police were involved at the time of the accident. Warning signs related to the brake pedal and ABS system appeared from February 2025, prompting the repair period and ABS module replacement. No new warnings appeared immediately before the accident, but the ongoing brake system issues clearly signaled a safety concern. Genesis has made no progress or scheduling effort, deliberately delaying while blocking my insurer from hiring a third party for timely investigation.Read more

Obviously the problem was not fixed for Ford Fusion manufactured after the 7/15/2009. I have seen many similar complaints on the net and some have indicated that they have filed NHSTA complaints for the same issue. Complaint: 2016 Ram 1500 - Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) Module Failure Vehicle Information: Make: Ram Model: 1500 Year: 2016 Current Odometer Reading: Approximately 48,000 miles Incident Description: My 2016 Ram 1500 truck has experienced a failure of the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) module. This failure has resulted in the deactivation of several critical safety systems, including: Anti-l
... ock Braking System (ABS) Traction Control System Cruise Control Electronic Stability Control (ESC) Consequences of Failure: The complete shutdown of these safety systems, particularly the ABS, poses a significant and immediate safety risk. Without a functional ABS, the vehicle's braking performance is severely compromised, increasing the likelihood of wheel lock-up during sudden braking and significantly elevating the risk of an accident or complete brake failure, especially under adverse road conditions. Dealer Response & Lack of Resolution: I contacted an authorized Ram dealership to address this critical issue. Unfortunately, the dealership informed me that they currently have no replacement parts for the ABS module and have received no guidance or support from Chrysler (Stellantis) regarding a resolution. This lack of parts and technical support leaves me with a vehicle that is, in my opinion, unsafe to operate and susceptible to an accident due to a known, unaddressed safety defect. Request for Action: I am submitting this complaint to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to report this serious safety defect. I urge the NHTSA to investigate this widespread issue and compel Ram/Chrysler to provide an immediate remedy for this ABS module failure, including the availability of necessary replacement parts and a clear repair protocol. The current situation leaves me with a vehicle that has compromised safety features, putting lives at risk.Read more

Issues where the breaks are ineffective. Usually at slower speeds going over brick road, uneven surface. Told hyundai about first incident when they did oil change on December 27th (at which time it had occurred twice) and they stated no issues with breaks. Has happened now more often (averaging one time a month or more). Took my vehicle in again on May 20th, 2025, they said they couldn't repl
... icate the issue so I went back to the dealership on May 21st, 2025 and did a ride with a tech where we got the issue to trigger multiple times. Dealership had not provided an update until a few minutes ago. They stated they called their tech service line and that "they could not advise them on a repair" - service manager said that's the first time he's heard that and the car is with his manager and who will be trying to call their local area rep. Said if they cannot advise on a repair, it may not be an approved under warranty repair.Read more

Vehicle: 2024 Volkswagen Taos SEL Approx. Mileage: 40,000 Dealership: Tom Bush Volkswagen, Jacksonville, FL Component Affected: Service Brakes, Hydraulic – Foundation Components – Disc – Pads Complaint: I’m reporting a serious issue with the rear brakes on my 2024 Volkswagen Taos SEL. At the 30,000-mile service, Tom Bush Volkswagen in Jacksonville, FL documented the rear brake pads at 7m
... m. At 40,000 miles, they measured 1mm, while the front brake pads—still original—remain at 10mm. This represents excessive and uneven wear on the rear brakes in just 10,000 miles. It is not consistent with standard wear patterns, as the front brakes normally wear faster due to handling the majority of braking force. My vehicle has been driven normally and the tire wear is even at 7/32", showing no signs of abuse or hard braking. Volkswagen issued TSB VWP-22-18 acknowledging premature rear brake wear on Taos models, yet both the dealership and VW customer support claim this is “normal” wear and have refused warranty or goodwill coverage. This is not consistent with vehicle design norms or owner expectations. This may indicate a defect in the braking system, such as caliper drag or electronic parking brake malfunction. The rapid wear of rear brakes—compared to nearly untouched fronts—poses a potential safety risk, especially if the issue goes unnoticed. I am requesting NHTSA investigate this issue for potential brake system defects or improper brake bias that could compromise safe operation.Read more
