I purchased a 2019 Nissan Sentra SR (VIN: [XXX] ) as a certified pre-owned vehicle from Star Nissan in Bayside, NY on [XXX]. Since the day of purchase, I have experienced repeated failures when trying to start the vehicle using the push-button ignition. Specifically, when pressing the brake pedal to start the car, nothing happens — the brake does not register, and the engine will not start. Thi
... s issue directly matches the symptoms outlined in NHTSA Recall 21V135 (Nissan Campaign PM971), which addresses a known brake lamp switch defect in 2016–2019 Nissan Sentra models. I was not the original owner and was never notified of this recall. The selling dealership, who had custody of the car when the recall was issued, did not confirm or perform the required repair before reselling the vehicle to me. Nissan Consumer Affairs now claims there are “no open recalls” on my VIN, but the part in question — the brake switch — has never been replaced, and my Nissan service history confirms that it was not repaired. Instead, unrelated components like the brake booster were replaced multiple times, which did not resolve the issue. This defect has created multiple unsafe situations where I was stranded with my child in unsafe areas due to the car failing to start. The car’s brake system is critical to safe operation and starting function, and failure of this component puts both myself and my child at risk. I believe the recall was never performed and was falsely marked as completed or was never properly associated with my VIN. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate why this VIN is not being flagged for an active recall, despite clear matching symptoms and lack of documented repair. I also request that Nissan be required to fulfill the safety repair free of charge under the recall. Hi I recently brought my car in for recall repairs involving the ABS fuse and brake pedal stopper. Right after the service, my traction control light came on, and the car struggled to move forward. While driving on the interstate I went to slow down to merge and my brakes failed. The following warning lights came on: Master Warning Light (yellow), Brake System Warning Light, Brake System warning light (red), ABS Warning Light, and the Slip Indicator light. My vehicle was towed to a Toyota Dealership and after running a diagnostic test, they confirmed that it was the "Break booster with acc
... umulator c1391 stored internal leak of accumulator and need immediate attention" which they quoted at $4,295.68 to fix. After researching the issue saw A Customer Support Program 20TE07 was issued taking responsibility for the faulty Brake Booster Pump Assembly however only covered the repair for a two-year period and only if it was one of the identified diagnostic trouble codes listed in the CSP issued by Toyota but expired in Feb 2022. The code pulled from my vehicle 3 days ago was listed in this document, but the coverage only covers until Feb 2022. This is not a normal wear and tear issue, it is a faulty part that Toyota identified as a life and death safety concern but refuses to do anything about because mine didn't show an issue within their 2-year CSP timeframe. Toyota identified that there are roughly 118,950 2012-2014 model year prius V with a production period of late September 2010 to mid-November 2014 vehicles that this faulty part affects along with everyone else on the road with these vehicles as it causes failure of the brake booster pump assembly, which leads to a loss of braking assist and the deactivation of the Vehicle Stability Control system. For the safety and lives of the owners of these vehicles and all of the other lives of the drivers on the road that this could affect in the case of this faulty part should there be a catastrophic accident, like mine could have been, a nationwide recall on this part MUST be issued.Read more

To Whom It May Concern, I am filing a complaint against Volvo Car USA for unresolved defects in my 2023 Volvo XC90 T8 Recharge, purchased in Indiana. The vehicle’s control systems—infotainment, climate control, navigation, backup camera, and reverse braking—are defective, impairing its use, value, and safety, despite maintenance and updates. Study and searches on owner forums and social med
... ia discovered that those issues are widespread among the 2023 model year of Volvo XC-90 T8. Issues: Backup camera often shows “unavailable” when reversing, posing safety risks. -Volvo did a software recall in May, 2025. The issue seemed largely resolved. Automatic reverse braking (ARB) falsely triggers, causing abrupt stops. No permanent adjustment exists. -The issue persists even after multiple software updates including the recall mentioned above. The false ARB activations made drivers and passengers traumatized and panicked for "hitting or being hit by other vehicles or objects. Infotainment and climate control system lags (5+ minutes to respond), displays errors, and is unreliable. That became a bigger problem during inclement weather that driver and passengers may suffer injury from the extreme cold or hot conditions for a long period of time. This is even more dangerous when there are elderlies, pregnant women, or children in the vehicle. This issue was not resolved even after multiple software updates. Further research indicated the issue was not only from software but also from hardware (including but not limited to the CPU chips, RAM, etc. LTE connection is unstable 50% of the time, affecting navigation or emergency assistance. Volvo uses safety and emergency assistance as one of the selling points for its vehicles. However, the instability of its LTE connection makes the "SOS call" unreliable or not functional when customers are in danger. Even after multiple visits of Volvo dealer and contact of Volvo customer care, there is no solution.Read more

For the second time in a year, I was pulling into a parking space and when I applied the brake, the car accelerated, seemed to be airborne and lurched forward. Though I firmly had my foot on the break, it would not stop until it hit a brick post about three feet away. This exact same scenario happened in July of last year. Then, I hit a stand of shrubs. Someone said, your foot must have slipped

I said, “I don’t think so.” Yet, I took the blame for the accident, for I could not believe it was a car malfunction, nothing close to this had happened to me since I owned the car. Everything was the same in the last crash as in the first. This time, as soon as the car accelerated, I checked, and my foot was firmly on the break. There is definitely a malfunction in the car. January of 2025 the vehicle was put in drive and the vehicle shut down. "Power steering low egine stopped" message appeared. I Put the vehicle in park and started the car back up. A few months later the vehicle was brought in due to multiple braking events either when pulling forward with no acceleration (nothing was around the vehicle) or putting the vehicle into reverse with no acceleration (nothing behind the vehicle). During these events the car made a loud grinding sound and displayed BRAKE across the dash. The 3rd time at the dealership was due to the car shutting down when put into park and braking when reversing out of a parking spot. The code "epb stopped Incompletely" and the BRAKE message appeared. The dealership checked for codes but the car didn't have any saved. They can't recreate it. They had a feild tech come out but I'm unsure of what was found because they haven't released it. As of June 22, 2025 I was driving and the car braked on me while going 40 mph. I am filing this complaint regarding an unresolved safety recall for the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) on my 2017 Dodge Ram 3500, VIN ending in [XXX] , under Recall Number C4B/NHTSA 24V-896. We received the recall notification months ago and have been waiting ever since for further instructions or a remedy from FCA US LLC. After more than six months, we still have no resolution. Recently, the vehi
... cle was towed to Patterson Dodge in Tyler, TX, where it was inspected by the dealership. They confirmed that there is currently no remedy available for the HCU issue and stated they have no idea when a fix will be provided. This is not just a matter of inconvenience — this is a critical safety concern. FCA's own recall notice clearly states: “The loss of ABS/ESC/Traction control may cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.” We purchased this truck specifically to tow our 5th wheel camper, which we now cannot safely operate due to the safety risk posed by this unresolved recall. Without proper braking and stability control systems, towing a heavy load would be incredibly dangerous, not only to us but to everyone else on the road. We understand that vehicle recalls can take time to resolve. However, it is extremely concerning that: FCA has offered no timeline or remedy after many months. The vehicle remains inoperable for its intended purpose due to the unresolved recall. We were never proactively contacted with updates and had to follow up on our own. The dealership confirmed the part is not only unavailable but with no estimated time of arrival. We respectfully request that NHTSA investigate whether FCA is meeting its obligations under the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act to provide a timely and effective recall remedy. A known safety defect has been identified, but the remedy is indefinitely delayed, and the manufacturer is not offering alternative solutions (loaner vehicle, buyback, etc.) while we are left with a vehicle we cannot safely use. Incident Summary: While relocating from northern to southern Alabama, I experienced a sudden and concerning failure in the vehicle’s braking system. While driving, multiple dashboard warning indicators were triggered simultaneously, including: •Brake warning light •ABS light •VSC (Vehicle Stability Control) light •Additional system fault alerts This happened unexpectedly and severely im
... pacted my ability to drive the vehicle safely. Given the nature of these warnings and the critical systems they pertain to, I immediately took the vehicle to a certified Toyota dealership for diagnostics and repair. Following inspection, I was informed that the ABS actuator and related components had failed and would require replacement at an estimated cost of nearly $3,000. I was further advised that while this issue had been part of a previous recall or customer support program, that program is no longer active. Rationale for Cost Coverage Request: 1) Known Safety Issue: This ABS/VSC failure aligns with prior technical service bulletins and recall actions issued by Toyota for Prius models of this era. The abrupt system failure while driving raises significant safety concerns. 2) Purchased from Certified Dealership: The vehicle was purchased from an authorized Toyota dealership. I trusted that all known recall issues would have been properly addressed prior to sale. 3) Recall Program Timing & Fairness: The original recall or warranty enhancement was tied to a timeframe or mileage limit, but given that this issue has not been resolved and is now manifesting as a serious failure, I believe an exception should be made—especially since it was known to affect vehicles like mine. 4) Customer Loyalty and Safety Assurance: I have maintained this vehicle responsibly and expect Toyota, as a brand committed to quality and safety, to assist with this issue in good faith. Request: I respectfully request that Toyota cover the full cost of diagnosing and repairing the ABS system issue.Read more

A leaking rear brake caliper can reduce braking performance and increase the risk of brake failure, putting my safety and the safety of others at risk. This issue was confirmed by the independent shop during the third replacement. The first two replacements were done at an authorized dealer, but the caliper defect was not detected then. There were no warning lights or messages. The only sign was the unusually frequent need to replace the rear brakes three times in a short period, which may have been caused by an early defect in the caliper. I purchased a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee on [XXX] unaware that the vehicle was subject to a federal safety recall and stop-sale order. The recall (NHTSA 24V-838 / Manufacturer 94B) was issued on November 7, 2024, for a defect in the ABS control module that may disable the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and cause unintended vehicle movement even while stationary.
... A stop-sale order (VIR 2024-11-14) was issued by Stellantis on November 14, 2024, prohibiting the sale or delivery of affected vehicles until repaired. Despite this, the dealership sold me the vehicle while the recall was still open and unrepaired. In the months following my purchase, I began experiencing issues with the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC). On June 15, 2025, I paid $770 out-of-pocket for ETC sensor repairs after a loss of throttle response. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, but this defect may be linked to the broader electronic issues cited in the recall. No warning lights appeared in advance. I have been driving this vehicle daily without knowing it could malfunction in a way that puts myself and others at risk. I only learned of the recall on June 22, 2025, when I searched the VIN through NHTSA’s database. ... erate faster finally when it got up to 95 mph the only thing I could think to do was turn the ignition off and kill the power, which is exactly what I did after. I turned it off I quickly turned it back on, and the cruise control was shut off and was back to normal…. after checking out the brake system, I found out that my brake lights weren’t working. The problem was I had a bad brake light switch under the brake pedal, which was the cause of this whole cruise control extremely dangerous malfunction…. After installing the new General motors brake light switch the problem was resolved…. obviously, this is some kind of software problem in the power control unit, but there needs to be a warning issued to all owners of these vehicles that this could potentially happen and to state to them the emergency instructions as to what to do if it does and that is too quickly cycle, the ignition switch power on and off, and that kills the malfunction and then take the vehicle to the repair shop and have the brake switch checked out and if necessary replaced…Best Regards, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

My 2025 BMW X5e was repaired under recall 24V‑104 for the integrated brake system. Before this recall, the vehicle did NOT have any braking hesitation or drag issues. After the recall repair was done (replacement and reprogramming), the vehicle now shows hesitation to move forward after releasing the brake pedal from a complete stop, as if the brakes are still dragging. This creates a safety con

The forward collision warming sign just activated when there is no danger. The car will suddenly apply sharp brakes when you are even on the high with a speed over 65 miles per hour. It is very dangerous and scary and can lead to accidents. My car false alarms get activated more than three times a day. I hope Hyundai will recall this and fix this issue.

Either the brake calipers or the soft brake lines feeding the calipers are sticking/collapsing internally causing the brakes to drag/lock up. This has drastically decreased the driveability of the vehicle as brakes dragging is dangerous. Based on internet searches and forums this appears to be a consistent problem with these pickups as this is the most common issue mentioned. Ford needs to address

I was driving my Polestar 3 2025 Performance into a gated garage. The car was on one pedal mode, I slowed down to come to a stop to open the gate. When the clicker for the garage door was clicked the car lunged forward and full speed rammed into the opening gate. Realizing the car is not stopping I pressed harder on the brakes, lifted my foot up and looked down to insure that I was pressing on the

While towing my fifth wheel trailer, the truck intermittently disconnects the trailer brakes while in motion. This results in a sudden loss of roughly 75% of my braking capability, creating an extremely dangerous situation. I have a professional driving background, which has helped me avoid an accident so far, but this issue could easily result in a collision, especially under emergency braking or
... downhill conditions Service Attempt: On June 17, 2025, I brought the vehicle to Madras Chevrolet in Oregon. The dealership acknowledged the issue but stated the truck is “within GM parameters,” so no repairs were made. They claimed the problem might be with the trailer, but I’ve confirmed the trailer works properly with other tow vehicles. This appears to be a systemic electrical or control issue with the truck. Safety Concern: No vehicle should be allowed to disable trailer brakes while moving. This is a clear design or control system fault. I am concerned that other GMC or GM truck owners may be at similar risk and urge the NHTSA to investigate this problem before it results in serious injury or death. PS. On social media most owners say this is happening to themRead more
