While test driving a 2017 RAM 3500 6.7L Cummins diesel at Cherry Hill Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, both the check engine light and the regen warning light came on simultaneously. I returned to the dealership, looked up the regen warning, then retrieved my BlueDriver OBD2 scanner from my own vehicle. I scanned the truck on-site and ran live data. The scan confirmed the diese
... l particulate filter (DPF) was 100% full, and the regeneration system was not functioning. Permanent fault code P242F was stored, and the exhaust backpressure reading was over 25 PSI at idle — indicating a severely blocked system. These faults were not disclosed by the dealership, and no inspection or documentation from a diesel technician was available. I later discovered the truck also has an open safety recall (Manufacturer Recall Number: C4B / NHTSA Recall Number: 24V-896) for a potential failure of the Brake Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). This recall involves the loss of ABS, Electronic Stability Control, and Traction Control, and the recall status is listed as incomplete with no remedy available as of the test date. I offered to purchase the truck for $35,000 out-the-door on the condition that the emissions system was repaired and certified. The salesperson spoke with the manager, then returned and told me the vehicle was no longer for sale. I then overheard the manager say they planned to wholesale the vehicle, likely without disclosing these active safety and emissions system failures. I am filing this report to ensure the vehicle is flagged for unresolved safety and emissions violations before it is sold or auctioned in its current condition. I have full diagnostic scan data, photographs, and written communication from the visit available upon request.Read more

My wife was driving the vehicle and was pulling into a parking lot. The brakes failed and would not stop the vehicle. She pressed on the brakes very hard, multiple times, for several seconds, before the vehicle finally came to stop. She then proceeded into a parking spot where the brakes again failed to stop the vehicle promptly. Several lights illuminated and a “System Brake Failure 43 MPH Top

They are telling me that they reset the codes and that the codes are not returning. 1.) The component/system that failed/malfunctioned is the brakes and/or anti-lock braking system. 2.) My safety and that of the people in front of the vehicle is placed at risk because the vehicle's braking system fails, allowing the vehicle to surge forward for a split second, temporarily out of control. 3.) While the problem has occurred many times with various drivers, the Toyota service techni
... cian said they were unable to reproduce the issue. However, with the information (date/time) I have provided, they confirmed the computer indicates the ABS system was triggered each time. 4.) The vehicle has been inspected by the Toyota service center representatives. 5.) There were no warnings, messages or other symptoms prior to the brakes failing. The problem is the braking ability is failing for a split second, when the car hits a bump. The size of the bump can be as small as the crack in the asphalt where two roads meet. The problem occurs when I am driving at slow speeds and riding the brake because I am in a situation like being in slow-moving bumper-to-bumper traffic, approaching an intersection requiring a stop, or coasting down hill. On numerous occasions, the brakes release, allowing the car to surge forward for a split second, before re-engaging. Toyota has told me it is the ABS working as intended. To be clear, the braking failure is happening at slow speeds and on dry pavement. This is not how ABS normally works. I have driven numerous makes and models of cars for 40 years and I have never experienced this type of situation triggering an ABS system. I report this to Toyota each time I bring my car in for regular maintenance. During the last visit, my regular service technician told me that they have now seen at least 5 or 6 other cars doing what I have described above. I don't have a specific date of the incidence because it happens frequently and has done so since I bought the car (10/01/23), so below, I am just listing the last time I reported it to Toyota.Read more

I have repeatedly asked the manufacturer and the dealership for a resolution to the antilock brake system failure on this vehicle. This issue has been on going for months and I have no resolution. This is Ram case management # 93024671. My last correspondence is as follows: Dear Stellantis Case Management Team, I am writing to express my profound dissatisfaction and serious safety concerns re
... garding my vehicle, 2018 RAM 2500. This letter follows a delayed response to my initial inquiry about the safety of my vehicle and family, which I find unacceptable. Firstly, I request an immediate and definitive anticipated release date for the crucial part that is pending. The continued uncertainty around this essential component is directly impacting my peace of mind and the perceived safety of my vehicle, my family and the general public. Secondly, I demand a thorough explanation regarding the active fault code on a manufacturer safety device within my vehicle, which your company has inexplicably deemed "normal" and stated the truck is "able to be driven." This assessment is illogical and deeply concerning. If a safety device, such as the anti-lock braking system (ABS) or a similar critical component, registers a fault code, its integrity and intended function are compromised. My fundamental question remains unanswered: If a safety system with a fault code is considered "normal" and safe, then why are such sophisticated safety features like anti-lock brakes installed in the first place? If their compromised state is acceptable, why not simply remove the entire system? This reasoning fundamentally contradicts the purpose of vehicle safety design and creates an unacceptable risk for myself and my family. I gave them 7 business days to respond- there has been no movement.Read more

When decelerating, particularly on hills or into corners, there is an intermittent surge that occurs after the brake pedal has been depressed. It feels as though there is a release of the braking action, this is unsettling as if you are starting to approach a vehicle or pedestrian, this sudden "delay" of braking could result in contact with other objects. We have changed our driving behavior as a

Toyota has released as of last year a TSB related to programming and we are going to pay out of pocket $300 this week to get that TSB applied. This doesn't seem fair to consumers. I was referred to the dealership in Halifax. • The Halifax dealership has been unable to diagnose or repair the issue to date. • Despite the unresolved nature of this problem, the dealership has recently asked to charge me diagnostic fees for the same issue, one that remains unsolved and is clearly a manufacturer-level safety defect. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The braking system appears to have failed. When I attempted to slow down for a stop sign, the brake pedal went straight to the floor and did not respond as expected. I began pumping the brakes out of panic, but they only engaged at the last moment—approximately one foot or less from the vehicle in
... front of me. The vehicle is currently totaled, but I believe the braking system could still be inspected upon request, pending insurance and tow yard access. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? My safety was significantly at risk. I had no control over stopping the vehicle despite repeated brake attempts. To avoid a direct collision, I was forced to swerve at the last second, hitting the rear edge of the truck ahead and deploying my airbag. Had I not swerved, the impact could have been more severe and potentially endangered the other driver. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Not yet. My insurance is working to determine whether an inspection is possible due to the extent of the damage. I intend to have the braking system inspected to confirm the failure if it can be safely accessed. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? The accident has been reported to my insurance, and they are aware that I believe the brakes failed. I’m waiting to hear whether an inspection by their representatives or a third party will be conducted. To my knowledge, the manufacturer has not inspected the vehicle. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No brake-related warning lights or messages appeared before or during the failure. However, the forward collision alert did pop up—but it only appeared a couple of seconds before the impact, far too late to help avoid.Read more

Safety issue is this usually happens when accelerating to get on freeway or passing someone and then I need to back off gas pedal to get it to change gears 2) Anti collision warning goes on for no reason - has not engaged brakes. Safety issue is both ti
... mes I hit the brakes thinking i was going to hit something but there was nothing in front of me.- will talk with dealer service manager this week 3) Anti lock brakes engaged at a normal stop - this could have caused an accident. I was able to stop car going into intersection by slamming breaks on - this has happened twice. Huge safety issue as I was entering a intersection and had trouble stopping the car. will talk with dealer service manager this weekRead more

My vehicle was one that was showing symptoms of the current recall. It was still under investigation for recall at the time. That was in February, I have not been able to drive the vehicle due to the brake lights illuminating and never giving correct readings to other drivers. With small kids I do not want to cause a crash. There is still no solution or remedy for the recall while I have a car I c

I have a 2018 RAM 1500 that keeps flashing for the code for the ABS module. This malfunction has completely disabled the ABS system. My mechanic feels that this is a genuine safety hazard and the module needs to be replaced. RAM says the parts have been on back order for over a year. I'm on several different RAM/DOGE message boards and there are plenty of trucks that are having this issue and ar

The Body Control Module does not work. A new BCM was installed in my car in April 2025. Since then I am having multiple issues, but the safety related issue is with the trailer braking system. It is available for inspection upon request. The dealership is unwilling to try another BCM without it costing me $600 for labor. If I am unable to use my brakes, then I put myself and others on the road
... at risk. The problem started with a Tire Monitor System. I was told I needed a BCM to fix the problem so the car would not throw codes. Now, I am being told the problems with the brakes are not comiing from the BCM. THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY car until I took it to this dealership for a new key faub and a tire pressure monitor error. The Body Control Module in a 2018 Chevy Tahoe Premier does play a role in controlling the sunroof. More specifically, the sunroof system is supplied power through a fuse located in the driver-side fuse box which is connected to the BCM. The sunroof switches communicate with the BCM via a serial data circuit, and the BCM then commands the sunroof to open or close. Therefore, the BCM acts a central hub in the electrical system of the vehicle and communicates with the sunroof control module to operate it. I learned this from two other dealerships. One dealership in West Virginia and another dealership in Texas told me this information about the BCM controlling the sunroof and many other electrical parts of the 2018 Chevy Tahoe Premier. To make it simple, the BCM was replaced. The vehicle is now having serious issues. I consider an unintended activation of the braking on the wheel which causes the vehicle to pull to one side puts me at risk of a crash. Is this yet another failed sensor or part due to the negligence of the service department at Smith Buick when replacing the BCM and programming a key faub?Read more

Unknown. In a span of 15 minutes, I encountered 3 events in traffic where accidents could've occurred. I was in the middle turning lane, completely stopped. I tried to accelerate and start left turn when the car shut down, all lights on dashboard lit up. There's an alert saying push P (park) and restart engine. It took 2 or 3 times of trying to get the car to start. Once started the engine and oil
... lights came on. They went off soon after. Luckily, the car stopped before the turn started or there may have been an accident. I continue my drive down the street, come to an intersection where I slowly brake, the front passenger tire hit a pothole and the car slid into intersection (my foot still on the brake) instead of coming to a compete stop before the intersection. Again, accident avoided only because the oncoming traffic passed before car slid forward. Lastly, trying to get home safely and shaken badly, I come to another intersection. I'm the first car with 4 cars behind me. I'm completely stopped at a red light. The light turns green, I attempt to accelerate to move through light and the car shuts down again. All lights on dashboard light up, the emergency brake is automatically engaged and I spend the light cycle trying to get the car to restart. I had to release the emergency parking brake, put car in park, try to push start button. Last steps repeated more than once. Thank goodness the cars behind me were paying attention and didn't drive based on the light being green. There was no warning for any of these events. It was extremely scary and I don't trust the car to drive it further. I'm having it towed to the dealership for inspection. This is a 2025 with 636 miles on it and about 8 incidents regarding safety since purchased less than 2 months ago.Read more
