Year: 2015 •Make: Harley-Davidson •Model: V-Rod Muscle (VRSCF) •VIN: [XXX] •Mileage: 5000 ⸻ Complaint Description: While riding my 2015 Harley-Davidson V-Rod Muscle (VRSCF), the ABS warning light illuminated, and braking became erratic—soft one moment, abrupt the next. Diagnostics revealed a failure in the ABS Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU), part number 40664-08A. This component is u
... sed across multiple V-Rod models from 2009–2015, including the Night Rod and VRSCDX, suggesting a widespread vulnerability. Similar owner-reported incidents highlight this isn’t isolated: •A V-Rod Muscle owner posted on Facebook: “the ABS is frozen!!!… front brake handle hard as a rock!!!” indicating a seized hydraulic unit. •In a 2012 Night Rod, repeated ABS light faults were traced to a short sensor harness that caused an open circuit when the rear suspension compressed—highlighting potential design or routing flaws in the system. Why this matters: A failing ABS HCU can severely impair braking safety, especially in emergencies or poor weather. Repair costs are steep—estimated over $1,000—and there is currently no recall addressing this known issue. I urge NHTSA to investigate whether a safety defect exists and determine if a recall is warranted. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

Vehicle Identification Number (VIN): [XXX] Make: Hyundai Model: Santa Fe Year: 2024 Description of the issue: •Component or system that failed: The vehicle’s brake system, including the emergency braking system, failed to slow or stop the vehicle at low speeds. The problem is available for inspection upon request. •Safety risk: This failure endangered my safety and others. While driving sl
... owly in traffic, I fully pressed the brake pedal, and the emergency braking system activated, but the vehicle did not slow or stop, causing a minor collision with another vehicle. •Reproduction or confirmation: Prior to the incident, on two separate occasions, I noticed the brake pedal felt loose or like it “released” at low speeds, forcing me to press harder for the vehicle to slow. These issues were not previously inspected or documented. I was planning to have the brake issue inspected along with a current recall and other concerns, including a stiff seatbelt buckle and a door that was difficult to open, as soon as I had the chance. I have not received any formal recall notice by mail or email. I learned about the recall during routine maintenance at the dealership. •Inspections: The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer but I plan to take it to an authorized Hyundai dealership asap for inspection. The accident has not been reported to the police or insurance yet but it will be first thing tomorrow. •Warning lamps or symptoms: No warning lights appeared, but there unusual brake behavior was noted on two occasions about two weeks before the crash. Thought this time was significantly worse, and by worse this I mean the vehicle didn’t brake. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

Took my 2022 VW Taos in for its 20,000 mile service. Upon picking up the vehicle I was told everything looks great and I'm going to want to watch my rear brakes, the pads are worn 50%. I inquired as to wear on the front, near new at 11. I had also asked if they could check on the sluggish or jack rabbit take offs. They said that had been corrected thru a computer update at a previous visit. I said
... it was minimally improved? and had hoped VW had figured out the cause. I dwellled on the rear brake issue overnight, discussed the situation with my BIL, and called my service advisor in the am to say we believe the sluggish/rapid acceleration isn't brake related, but rather the brakes aren't completely releasing during stop to acceleration. He said he suspected that also and discussed it with his service manager who agreed. He said they submitted an inquiry and are asking VW to look in to this and as my rearbrakes are out if warranty by my "in service date", to see if VW will waive the pad replacement for low odometer. I've complained about and filed a NTHSA report for the acceleration problem a couple years ago. This is still a serious safety issue and abuse of the paying public.VW needs to step up before someone has to die. Brakes are nothing you wanting failing doing 70 mphs on I-90 thru mountain passes. Please follow-up and seek a resolution from VW. In the meantime I saw someone posted VW has a new brake pad as if May 2025. Guess I'll be paying for the replacement. P.S. I still don't have 20,000 mile on it. Ridiculous to be replacing rear pads!Read more

The vehicle has ongoing acceleration delay and jerking under normal driving, along with repeated premature rear brake wear and a major coolant leak that required head gasket replacement. The most recent incident occurred on August 8, 2025, immediately after picking up the vehicle from a service visit for the acceleration concern. Two separate throttle delays with a sudden jerk forward occurred at
... approximately 5:47 PM and 5:50 PM in moderate city traffic at 79°F. These incidents put my safety and the safety of other drivers at risk, as delayed acceleration can prevent safe merging, crossing, or passing. Within the first 25,000 miles of ownership, the vehicle has also required one rear brake replacement and a second replacement was recommended due to premature wear, which could reduce braking performance and stopping distance. Additionally, a coolant leak ultimately required head gasket replacement. Suspension components, including a knuckle, have also been replaced under warranty. The acceleration problem has been reported to authorized Volkswagen dealers, but was documented as “could not reproduce” despite occurring minutes after pickup. Coolant leak and brake issues have been confirmed and repaired or recommended for repair by dealers. There were no warning lights or error messages prior to the acceleration incidents.Read more

I purchased this 2024 f350 from Auto Park Ford in Laporte, IN on [XXX] with 94 miles on the truck. It was shipped directly to me and arrived July 21st 2025. These safety defects in manufacturing materials, workmanship, improper storage by the selling dealer, and selling of a defective vehicle to me has put myself and my family in an unsafe vehicle. The vehicle has been at the local Ford service center since July 22nd 2025 with the service department stating there is no fix for these issues and is a known issue by Ford. My safety and my family's safety has been put at risk by the vehicle's loss of power, random braking applications, and rusty engine components. These issues were confirmed by Pierre Ford of Lynnwood service department. The repair report states "VERIFIED WARNING FAULTS PRESENT. SELF TEST NUMEROUS DTC'S PRESENT IN ABS MOD. C0051 PPT Q Q1 YES, Q2 NO YO23A FOUND SSM 53892 STIIDING THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE WITH NO FIX CURRENTLY. I asked them to keep the truck as it's a major safety concern for myself and my family to operate this truck with all the safety faults, loss of power, random braking, etc. The vehicle will have been at the dealer 21 days by Monday 8/11/25. I have contacted Ford about this issue and requested a buyback, vehicle replacement, a fix, and have gotten no where. When going over an uneven surface (railroad track/cobblestone/pothole) at a low speed, specifically while braking, the car starts violently shaking and prevents me from stopping the car. It has caused my car to go an extra 15-20 ft and even had to narrowly miss being T-boned twice (thank goodness the people coming saw me!) From what I’ve seen it is the ABS that is sensitive, but I’m not cert
... ain. I just know that it is dangerous and concerns me with children in the car. Dealer could not reproduce and told me it was “normal” over uneven surfaces- even asked why I was braking over the tracks (there is usually a stoplight or stop sign right after!). I pulled up to a red light in a protected left turn lane. My car is set to use regenerative braking and hold/not roll once stopped. I felt my car roll forward a bit, which shouldn't happen when these settings are on. I quickly checked my rearview mirror, assuming someone had hit me from behind to cause me to roll forward. No one was behind me. I hit my brake and the car suddenly accelerated at ful
... l throttle speed, I would guess, into the intersection, despite the light being red for me. I quickly glanced down at my foot to confirm that it was on the brake pedal and it definitely was. I continued to repeatedly push the brake pedal down to no avail. I was steering and tried to navigate my way through 4 lanes of moving traffic because they had a green light. I hit the front end of a car, which didn't slow my car at all. I went on to hit another car's front end, which didn't slow my car at all either. My car then charged out of control to hit the curb on the opposite side of the street facing traffic. Hitting the curb stopped my car finally. I noticed that the airbags on the right side of my car were deployed. Components that failed/malfunctioned: brakes, fuel/propulsion system, speed control, automatic emergency braking, collision warning/avoidance, traffic signal detection Tesla Insurance has deemed the car a total loss. I also reported the malfunction to their Vehicle Support but haven't gotten the report or the data report from the car that I requested yet. I was told that the report would be complete by 8/7/25. The car was placed on a hold for the investigation, so it should be available for inspection. I do have the dashcam videos and photos of my car, if needed. This incident was terrifying because I had zero control of my vehicle due to the sudden unintended acceleration (SUA). I see on the internet that SUA is a problem with Tesla that has been reported repeatedly. It is a miracle that no one was hurt or killed. Tesla needs to address this immediately!Read more

While driving with my small children in the vehicle, my 2022 Acura MDX suddenly displayed multiple simultaneous system failures without warning and the steering wheel locked and the car slowed and the brakes didn't work well: •Brake System Problem – warning that braking performance may be reduced •Electric Power Steering Problem – “Do Not Drive” warning •Vehicle Stability Assist Prob

If this had occurred at highway speeds or in a location without space to maneuver, it could have caused a severe crash and even death. The vehicle was towed to the dealer immediately. The tow truck driver stated that he had transported another 2022 Acura MDX with identical failures earlier the same day, suggesting this may be a widespread defect. The dealer found no recalls and attributed the issue to a steering angle sensor malfunction. Given the severity and the risk of injury or death, I am reporting this to NHTSA. While driving on the Belt Parkway towards Coney Island in stop-and-go traffic at approximately 25–35 mph, the vehicle in front slowed and came to a stop. The distance to the vehicle ahead was more than two car lengths. The brake pedal was fully depressed, but the vehicle did not decelerate adequately to come to a complete stop. The driver's record is clear of any car accident All forward collisi
... on warning alerts were sounding, but the ABS and automatic emergency braking (AEB) did not activate. There was no tire screech or pulsation from the brakes. The vehicle slowed but continued to move forward, resulting in a low-speed frontal collision. After the collision, the vehicle refused to move until the engine had been turned off for several minutes. Airbags did not deploy. This incident happened on a brand-new vehicle with only 318 miles on the odometer. We immediately contacted Jeep Corporate and opened a safety case. However, the first authorized dealer we visited, as was told by the Jeep advisor at 111 58th St., Brooklyn, NY 11220, refused to inspect the brake, ABS, or AEB systems under warranty, after we said that we have case number from Jeep and we need to read the computer while it still has information about the acident in the memory. Also were refused to provide a written denial, and directed us to a collision center instead, which repairs only the body but doesn't have equipment to read the car's faults. Due to this refusal, Jeep Corporate initially closed our case without resolution or notification; we had to insist on having it reopened, as the issue wasn't investigated. We are aware that Jeep models from 2024–2025 (though not exactly this trim) have had recalls for ABS, brake module, and electronic stability control issues, and these systems share similar or identical computer modules across model lines. Given these known issues and the seriousness of a complete brake system failure on a new vehicle, I believe this warrants immediate investigation by NHTSA.Read more

My vehicle comes to an abrupt stop while driving or when I’m pulling off at an intersection. This has happened on 4 different occasions in which I’ve injured my knee due to the vehicle stopping at random while I’m driving or pulling off. The third time it happened I was told it was because the transmission was about to go out. Landers replaced the transmission. The advisor stated it should fix the problem. This was about a month ago. Today on 08/08/2025 it happened again and I also hit my knee injuring it even more than more. I’m still in a brace and now have to re-evaluated to see if the abrupt stop caused more injury.
