The original transmission was replaced due to hard shifting from 1-2 gear 3-4 gear when slowing down. I purchased a ford certified refurbished transmission and had the same issue with shifting from 1-2 and 3-4 gear. Ford replaced the parts under warranty. On both occasions I felt unsafe with staying in gear.

Rear differential lock rings broke and caused leaking fluid, as reported to me by a dealer service department. This could lead to handling problems and even total system failure. No warning lights, messages, or noticeable symptoms. Upon an internet search, I found that this seems to be a COMMON issue with Jeep Cherokee's - therefore, I'm not sure why it isn't already a recall.

I am submitting this complaint regarding a serious transmission defect on my 2018 Acura RDX that materially worsened after an Acura-authorized warranty repair addressing a known torque converter defect. Acura issued a warranty extension / service campaign for the torque converter on certain 2017–2018 RDX vehicles. Prior to this repair, my vehicle did not exhibit any severe jerking, slipping, or
... unsafe shifting behavior. After the Acura dealer replaced the torque converter under this program, the vehicle immediately began experiencing violent and unpredictable jerking during gear changes, worsening over time. These behaviors create an unsafe driving condition, particularly in stop-and-go traffic, intersections, and merging situations. I returned the vehicle to the dealer multiple times after the repair. As the problem worsened, I provided video documentation clearly showing the abnormal transmission behavior. After further evaluation, the dealer acknowledged the issue and determined that the transmission requires replacement. Acura Corporate declined coverage, stating the vehicle was no longer under standard warranty, despite: -The issue beginning immediately after Acura’s warranty repair -The torque converter being an integral component of the transmission system -The vehicle being in a worse and unsafe condition after Acura’s work I am requesting that NHTSA: -Review whether Acura’s torque converter warranty extension repair fails to adequately address associated transmission damage -Determine whether Acura vehicles repaired under this program are being returned to consumers in an unsafe operating condition -Assess whether Acura is improperly denying responsibility for post-repair transmission failures directly related to related to the covered defectRead more

My pickup is a 2015 F-150 4WD Supercrew (5.0/6 speed auto). I was driving on an Interstate and pulling a loaded flatbed trailer. The transmission was in the “towing” mode. While leaving a rest area my truck would not shift up from first gear. I turned the truck off and re-started it and it seemed to work for a short time, but as soon as I got back to speed on the Interstate the pickup SUDDENLY
... shifted into a lower gear. There was no warning at all. This made the truck's engine momentarily overspeed and I felt like I was going to crash because it went from high speed to low in a very short distance. Fortunately, I was wearing a seatbelt, there was light traffic, and the roadway was slightly wet from rain. After this incident I was able to slowly "limp" it off the Interstate. It was taken to an independent transmission shop that said this was caused by a "lead frame" failure and that it was a known issue but Ford would only warranty it if it was a 2014 or older. They told me that the “speed sensor” is part of that component. They were able to repair it for me by replacing the "lead frame" - it did not appear to damage the engine or other parts of the transmission and the truck seems fine now. I do have a post warranty service contract, service contract agent said they do not specifically cover "shift plates" in their policy and it cost me over a thousand dollars out of my own pocket.Read more

While operating my 2024 Kia EV6, the vehicle began displaying repeated warnings related to the power system and 12-volt battery. The instrument cluster first showed a “Power limited” message, followed shortly by a “Stop vehicle and check power supply” warning. At the same time, the vehicle indicated that the 12-volt battery was low, despite the high-voltage traction battery being at or nea
... r full charge. Shortly thereafter, the 12-volt battery became fully depleted, resulting in a complete loss of low-voltage electrical power. I was unable to electronically unlock the doors, and the vehicle could not be started or shifted into gear. The vehicle became immobilized and inoperable, requiring towing. This failure occurred without warning and created a safety concern, as loss of power could potentially occur while driving or leave occupants stranded and unable to access the vehicle. The vehicle had previously been serviced at a Kia dealership for known power system concerns related to the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). During that visit, the dealership applied a firmware update only and did not replace the ICCU hardware. The current failure occurred after that firmware update, suggesting the issue was not resolved. This incident represents a loss of motive power and loss of vehicle electrical systems, which could present a serious safety risk if it occurs while the vehicle is in motion or in unsafe environments. The inability to unlock doors or start the vehicle due to complete 12-volt battery depletion is particularly concerning. When roadside assistance arrived to tow the vehicle to the dealership, the vehicle’s 12-volt battery was completely depleted, preventing normal recovery procedures. A portable jump starter was temporarily connected, but the vehicle would not remain powered on long enough to complete the steps required to place the vehicle into neutral or tow mode.Read more

The transmission on the vehicle has gone bad twice since we purchased it used. The car has 34,400 miles on it. Kia just keeps replacing these parts with more defective parts. I have videos if you want them.

The vehicle experienced a catalytic converter efficiency failure that was confirmed by an authorized dealership in January 2025. The dealer indicated the catalytic converter required replacement; however, the replacement was not performed, and the vehicle was returned to service with an unresolved emissions defect. Less than one year later, the vehicle developed recurring emissions system failure
... , loss of power, drivability issues, and repeated warning indicators. The vehicle is currently out of service while additional components, including oxygen sensors and spark plugs, are reported to be affected. The manufacturer is declining to replace the catalytic converter and is attributing the condition to oil consumption despite the prior unresolved emissions failure. The issue has been confirmed by dealership diagnostics and has resulted in prolonged loss of use of the vehicle. This appears to be a continuing engine and exhaust/emissions system defect that was not properly remedied when first identified and may affect safe operation of the vehicle.Read more

The vehicle is being operated in winter conditions without all-wheel drive, increasing the risk of loss of control. The high-voltage charging flap assembly (Part 4KE810001) has failed, preventing the charge door from latching. Notably, this failure (DTC P31D000) occurred within 7 days of the vehicle being serviced at Audi Burlingame for a high-voltage battery software recall. This presents three safety hazards: 1. Driver Distraction: Triggers a continuous auditory chime and 'Warning! Please check the charging
... unit cover' message every 10 seconds. It cannot be silenced, creating a severe, persistent distraction. 2. Unintended Deployment: At highway speeds, the unlatched flap opens/flaps due to aerodynamics, creating a visual obstruction and distraction for the driver and traffic. 3. Moisture Ingress: Failure to seal the port exposes the high-voltage interface to pressurized rain/road spray. Per NHTSA 19V434 (Recall 93E8) regarding moisture ingress in this system, this failure represents a recurrence of a known safety risk. Evidence of Defect: Audi has iterated through three versions of this part (4KE810001, B, and C), confirming an inherent design flaw. This component is specifically identified in Service Campaign 93H6 for proactive replacement. Despite this, and the failure occurring immediately after recall service 93V2 on October 1st 2025, Audi Burlingame denied a 'goodwill' repair and quoted $1,100+ for a part already internally flagged as defective. Repair declined due to cost; safety hazard remains active. I am requesting that the NHTSA open an investigation into this component failure. Thank you,Read more

Despite the accelerator pedal being fully depressed, the vehicle would not accelerate beyond approximately 62 mph. Based on the symptoms and prior service history, the malfunction appears related to the fuel/propulsion system, engine, or powertrain. The vehicle is currently parked and available for inspection
... upon request. This failure placed the safety of the occupants and other motorists at risk. The vehicle was unable to safely accelerate, merge, pass, or respond to traffic conditions. Hazard lights were activated, and the vehicle was forced to remain in the slow lane of the highway for an extended period to avoid being struck by faster-moving traffic. The problem was reproducible and occurred repeatedly during the same trip. Acceleration was tested multiple times, and each attempt resulted in the same loss of power with no response to throttle input. The condition persisted for the entire drive. The vehicle has not yet been inspected following this incident. However, the vehicle previously received a manufacturer warranty repair involving replacement of the high-pressure fuel pump, and the manufacturer has issued a warranty extension for this component. The loss of motive power occurred after that repair. No warning lamps, alerts, or messages were observed prior to or during the failure. There were no warning symptoms immediately preceding the loss of motive power. This loss of propulsion at highway speed created a serious and immediate safety hazard due to the inability to maintain normal traffic speed or maneuver safely.Read more

At about 800 miles i noticed ticking from the engine and random and intermittent jerking. Some of which were very severe that felt like someone rear ended me. I took into the dealer with my complaints. They kept my vehicle for 2.5 days and didnt give me a loaner. The my were unable to reproduce the jerking and said the ticking was normal. They showed me the ticking and said its normal and will go
... away after it warms up. They did a vehicle update and said it will help. They said theres nothing else they will do. I knew something was still wrong but felt like they wouldnt do anything and I couldn't give up my vehicle for days at a time. I continued to drive it and was planning on taking it to a other dealer for a check up. But at about 3500 miles. One day the truck began squealing and grinding. I attempted to drive the truck home and the truck just died on the freeway. Luckily I knew something was wrong so I stayed in the slow lane so it was easy for me to get off. Thats the first time the check engine light came on but it was too late. I had it towed to the dealer and they checked and it was catastrophic engine failure.Read more
