I have a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado LT 1500 with only 19K Miles. When I brought this vehicle I was having problems with hearing a loud clunking noise coming from the rear of the Vehicle. Every Time I Stop at a red light, stop at a stop sign, yield at a yield sign, and slow down to turn in my driveway I can hear this clunking noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. If someone is riding in the back
... seat of the vehicle, they can feel the clunking noise every time I hit the brakes or slow down. After doing some research I honestly believe it’s the drive shaft that is on my vehicle that is causing this issue. Also, my vehicle does a hesitation when trying to accelerate on the gas pedal, which the drive shaft can cause this issue as well. There is a recall against this issue (Drive Shaft) but my Vin Number doesn’t call for a recall, I believe my vin number was missed in this recall. This is very dangerous because my Drive Shaft can drop beneath my vehicle while driving on the roads or highways and can cause my Truck to loose control and get into a serious accident or fatal accident. All I want is to have the Chevrolet Dealership to repair my Drive Shaft for free, because Chevrolet states that they will fixed all the drive shaft that is on recall on there time and the customer doesn’t have to pay anything. Please follow up on this serious matter. I don’t feel safe driving my truck anymore, so I keep it parked in my garage. PS : I took my truck in several times to three Chevrolet Dealership when I had full warranty’s and each Dealership told me that my truck is fine, I just have to drive it because it’s still new and this is not a problem at all.Read more

Good morning, While driving and starting my Chevy Silverado 1500 with 3.0 durmax it will suddenly go into a “limp mode” reducing speed and power. All the characteristics of the coverage seem to fit the model and issues I have. It’s the same year, model, engine, etc. I’ve attached a DOT report of the special coverage. I’m hoping this will help fix my vehicle and others with this same issue. Although it’s not specifically listed as a safety recall, I feel the cause of the sudden power reduction is known by Gm and warranty issued and the problem should be resolved for all vehicles with this issue. While driving, the vehicle repeatedly hesitated during gear changes, lost power, and then abruptly jerked back into gear. This occurred intermittently for over a month without any warning messages, creating unpredictable and unsafe driving conditions. As the issue worsened, the vehicle began losing power more frequently. The most serious event occurred at highway speed, where the vehicle suddenly
... lost propulsion in the middle of active traffic, nearly causing a stall. This created an immediate safety hazard for myself and surrounding drivers. After several seconds, the vehicle violently re-engaged into gear and surged forward. Only at this point did the vehicle display a warning: “Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power.” I scanned the vehicle and retrieved DTC P0734 – Gear 4 Incorrect Ratio, a code associated with internal transmission faults. A dealership inspected the vehicle and reported that the CDF drum had failed. They stated they could not guarantee that replacing the drum would resolve all issues and provided two estimates: $5,600 for a partial internal repair/$8,700 for full transmission replacement. The 10R80 transmission has a documented history of failures, including harsh shifting, slipping, unexpected gear disengagement, and internal component defects. These issues are addressed in multiple Ford Technical Service Bulletins involving P0734, harsh/failed shifts, and failures related to the CDF clutch cylinder/drum. Many vehicles of the same make and model are covered under related recalls or service actions for similar problems; however, my VIN is not included, and Lincoln declined to honor the existing recall. This defect presents a serious safety risk due to: Sudden loss of power while driving, including at highway speeds, Unpredictable re-engagement and violent surging, Loss of propulsion without warning, leading to near-stall conditions. This powertrain malfunction is a known, unsafe, repeat issue among these vehicles equipped w/this transmission.Read more

We were driving on the interstate and suddenly the truck increased RPMs rapidly with no acceleration when pressing the gas. The vehicle began to decelerate quickly on its own. I wanted to report this concern because I’m now aware there are many reported issues with this 10-speed transmission, and the sudden complete loss of power as we were driving was extremely dangerous for us and the people around us. My 2018 Ford F-150 experiences harsh, erratic, and unpredictable transmission shifting. The truck frequently hesitates during acceleration, followed by sudden and violent gear engagement. It also makes abrupt downshifts while driving, causing unexpected deceleration that can be dangerous in traffic. The truck will shift from 8th, 9th, or 10th gear down to 1st at highway speeds. This causes abrupt
... deceleration and significant loss of speed on the highway. On multiple occasions, the transmission has delayed engagement when shifting from a stop, creating hesitation when entering intersections or merging, followed by a sudden surge of power. This creates an unsafe driving condition and increases the risk of rear-end collision or loss of control. The shifting behavior is inconsistent and unpredictable, occurring during both in traffic and highway driving. The problem is worsening over time. Given the frequency and severity of these events, I believe this transmission behavior represents a significant safety defect that should be investigated for potential recall or corrective action.Read more

I am writing about my 2021 Toyota Highlander XLE AWD VIN # [XXX] . I purchased this vehicle brand new on 3/29/2021 at ‘Koons Easton Toyota’ in Easton, MD. In October 2025 I started hearing whining noise from the engine compartment. It was audible only when accelerating the vehicle and would go away if I took my foot off the accelerator. On 10/22/2025, I took the vehicle for inspection to ‘O
... urisman Toyota 40’ dealership in Edgewood, MD. The technician told me that this is a known issue in this model/year and recommended to replace transmission as there was no other fix. He gave me a $9,995 estimate for transmission replacement. I subsequently learned that there was technical service bulletin on this exact defect released by Toyota on 2/9/2021. It said that models with UA80F transmission will make whining noise and then fail. The only remedy was to replace the transmission with brand new transmission part number 30500-0E160. This bulletin was posted on NHTSA website also. [XXX] This bulletin was released 50 days before I purchased the brand-new vehicle on 3/29/2021. My frustration and disappointment came from the fact that Toyota had known about this issue for 50 days and still proceeded to sell this vehicle to me. This is unacceptable as there should have been a recall on this defect or Toyota should have pulled the vehicle from the market. This is not about the powertrain warranty running out as that would apply to unforeseen issues that neither manufacturer nor buyer knew about in advance. It is about knowingly selling the customer a defective product even after disclosing the major defect publicly. Transmission failure can be a serious safety issue because it could have caused sudden loss of power and difficulty controlling speed. I request NHTSA to investigate these widespread Highlander transmission issues the same way Ford F150 transmission issues are being investigated. ... asions for mechanical issues, including—but not limited to—cooling system failures, thermostat defects, persistent check-engine warnings, and abnormal vehicle operation. Service records confirm repeated interventions, temporary fixes, and diagnostic acknowledgments without meaningful long-term resolution. More alarming, however, is the dealership’s failure to appropriately address and disclose known transmission recalls and other safety recalls applicable to this vehicle. Despite GM’s documented awareness of widespread transmission issues affecting similarly situated vehicles, the dealership elected to either minimize, ignore, or defer corrective action—placing convenience and cost avoidance above consumer safety. This conduct raises serious concerns, including: •Failure to act on known manufacturer defects •Failure to honor GM’s recall and safety obligations •Repeated return of a vehicle to service despite unresolved defects •A pattern of repairs that suggests systemic failure, not isolated incidents •Improper shifting of financial responsibility to the consumer for manufacturer-caused defects Consumers do not purchase Cadillac vehicles with the expectation of serving as unpaid beta testers for unresolved engineering flaws. Nor should they be forced to navigate a maze of denials and deflections when defects arise that GM already knows exist. This is not a maintenance issue—it is a manufacturer and dealer accountability issue.
