I am reporting a recurring transmission/drivability issue with my 2024 Mercedes-Benz S580. The vehicle has been experiencing a harsh, abnormal shift between approximately 3rd and 4th gear at around 25–35 mph during normal acceleration. The shift feels like a sudden jerk or hesitation and does not feel consistent with normal operation. The vehicle has been taken to an authorized Mercedes-Benz de
... alership multiple times for this issue. On a recent visit (February 9, 2026), a drive technician rode along and personally experienced the harsh shifting during a test drive. The dealership later confirmed in writing that the harsh shift was duplicated and documented on the repair order. Despite prior service visits, the problem continues to occur intermittently. It has happened again after the most recent service. In addition to the shifting concern, the vehicle has previously experienced power-related issues and steering/driver-assist warnings. There are not always warning lights before the harsh shift occurs. The vehicle remains available for inspection. Because the shifting happens during normal acceleration at city speeds, it feels unpredictable and concerning from a safety standpoint.Read more

The transmission failed in my 2015 Nissan Altima. The check engine light is currently on due to a defective transmission. My vehicle has only 83,800 miles and ha

Q: What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? A: ICCU failed - Not available for inspection (at least at this time, but willing to try and make it work). Q: How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? A: The ICCU (Integrated Charging Control Unit) is a safety-critical component subject to federal recalls 24V-204 and 24V-868. (
... My vehicle had all recalls performed prior to this failure.) The failure occurred while driving which was indicated by a “popping” sound. It is contextually important to note that the ICCU is responsible for charging the 12v battery, had the 12v battery failed during the duration of my drive I would have experienced a sudden loss of motive power. A sudden loss of motive power is an unacceptable risk to public safety. Q: Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? A: Yes, the problem has been reproduced and confirmed to be an ICCU failure by an official Hyundai service center. Q: Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? A: No. Q: Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? A: Symptoms first appeared February 14, 2026. The first symptom of failure was the signature “pop” sound that the ICCU failure is known for. Only after my drive and upon attempting L1/L2 charging did my dash warning indicate “Check Electric Vehicle System.” I also checked for codes with my OBDII scanner, and it showed no codes.Read more

Incident date: Jan 20, 2026
While in a parking lot, the clutch pedal suddenly lost all pressure and remained stuck to the floor, rendering the vehicle unable to shift gears. While this occurred at parked car , a sudden loss of gear engagement at highway speeds would have caused a catastrophic loss of motive power in high-speed traffic. Furthermore, this vehicle utilizes a shared reservoir for both clutch and brake fluid. A m
... ajor failure of the clutch slave cylinder seals can lead to rapid fluid loss or air ingestion into the shared hydraulic system, potentially compromising braking performance. The dealership confirmed the internal clutch slave cylinder failed prematurely at only 38,000 miles. Because the part is internal to the housing, a full transmission removal was required, resulting in a total repair cost of $5,600. Despite the safety implications of a shared hydraulic failure and the extremely low mileage, Toyota has refused to cover the full cost. No warning lights or symptoms appeared prior to this sudden failure.Read more

My Mazda3 began producing a chirp when shifting from 3rd to 4th gear (automatic transmission). The dealer stated that the car needed a new torque converter. Mazda has previously admitted to producing cars with faulty torque converters, as specified in Mazda TXXXXXX] ). While my car fit the description of
... both the problem and proposed fix, and also fell within the applicable models/VINs listed on the TSB, Mazda corporate HQ stated that my specific VIN was not covered by the TSB, and therefore the repair cost was my responsibility. Since the problem, solution, and general vehicle type are entirely as described in the TSB, it appears possible that the TSB was too narrowly scoped and omitted impacted vehicles, to the detriment of owners. ... r. The vehicle and diagnostic history are available for inspection upon request. The first incident occurred while driving around town. Although I was close to home, the reduced acceleration created concern because the vehicle could not respond normally to traffic. The second incident was significantly more dangerous and occurred in heavy traffic and on the freeway about 40 miles from home during heavy rain. The limited acceleration made merging and maintaining a safe traffic speed difficult, placing myself and others at risk. I have only been able to get the dealer to take the vehicle in one time, specifically for this issue, and that was because the warning lights were still on at arrival. Staff observed the warnings at check-in, but by the time the vehicle reached the service area, the lights had cleared. The dealer stated they could not perform repairs without active warnings, though stored codes reportedly indicated a low-voltage condition. Additionally, a clicking noise from the wheel area began about 1,500 miles ago and occurs consistently when turning, similar to a CV axle concern. During a separate visit, the dealer put in writing that they could not do anything about the noise and did not diagnose or inspect it, which left me uneasy about potential drivetrain safety. The intermittent high-voltage fault, reduced acceleration, charging limitation, loss of heat, and unresolved drivetrain noise create ongoing safety concerns due to the unpredictable nature of the failures.Read more
