I have a 2020 Nissan versa it only has 100,000 miles on it. That’s not really a lot since it had about 75000 miles on it. I noticed that the car started slightly jerking. I couldn’t figure out what was going wrong and neither could anybody else eventually at around 100,000 miles I took it into another mechanic and he found the problem. The transmission is slipping and it is completely ruined.
... The whole transaxle assembly needs to be replaced not only is this expensive but it’s also very dangerous sometimes when I try to move the car I put in gear I start to drive and it jerks so bad that it starts to stall when I contacted Nissan about this they refused to help with any Solution. The transmission costs anywhere from $8000-$12,000 for that price. I could buy a new 2020 Nissan versa.Read more

I am the original owner of a 2015 Nissan Rogue (VIN: [XXX] ) with approximately 63,000 miles. After driving for about 20–30 minutes, the engine will suddenly rev up but the vehicle will not accelerate or will barely move when I press the gas pedal. This has happened multiple times when trying to merge, climb hills, or cross intersections. The vehicle loses drive power even though the engine is r
... unning and revving. When this happens, I have to move over and wait until the vehicle cools down before it will drive normally again. My Nissan dealer has diagnosed the issue as a failing CVT transmission and quoted about $7,700 to replace it. This behavior creates a serious safety hazard because the car can lose power in traffic, leaving me unable to accelerate to highway speed, climb grades, or clear intersections. I am concerned this may be related to known Nissan CVT problems and believe it should be investigated as a safety‑related defect. Automatic 10 speed transmission has unpredictable shifting from 1st through 3 gears, offten with long lags between shifts, losing power temporarily, especially from 1st to 2nd gear, and harsh shifting. The hybrid system in my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe repeatedly fails, causing the vehicle to lose propulsion, drop out of electric mode, hesitate, and shut off while driving. These failures have occurred in traffic and at highway speeds. The vehicle has experienced multiple safety‑related power‑loss events, including on JR Allen Parkway and I‑185, where the hybrid system failed to transition betw
... een electric and gas modes and the vehicle began losing power. Beginning in April 2025, the vehicle generated repeated Jeep Connect alerts stating “Electric charging failed for your vehicle.” These alerts occurred dozens of times over many months, indicating an early hybrid‑system malfunction. The issue is not related to home charging equipment, as the alerts come from the vehicle’s telematics system and the hybrid system later failed while driving. On February 5, 2026, the dealership’s Service Director informed us that the defect was identified, no fix exists, and the vehicle is unsafe to drive. FCA has not provided a remedy. The vehicle cannot be safely operated in electric mode due to hybrid‑system failure, and it cannot be safely operated in gas mode due to engine‑related safety concerns. The vehicle is unsafe in all modes of operation. This defect creates a serious risk of collision due to sudden loss of propulsion, inability to accelerate, and unexpected shutdowns while driving.Read more

Component/System Failed: The vehicle’s CVT transmission and related transmission components. The transmission and associated components have been replaced multiple times by authorized Subaru dealerships. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Description of the Failure and Safety Risk: The vehicle has experienced repeated, intermittent transmission malfunctions, including warning
... lights, loss of power during acceleration, and sudden harsh re-engagement. Most recently, while accelerating through an intersection from a stop, the vehicle briefly lost power and then abruptly surged forward, causing a pronounced lurch strong enough to chirp the tires. This created a serious safety concern. A hesitation or loss of motive power in an active intersection exposes me to potential cross-traffic collisions, while the sudden re-engagement creates unpredictable acceleration and possible loss of control. The intermittent nature of the malfunction makes it impossible to anticipate when it will occur. Dealer/Manufacturer Involvement: The issue has been reported to and inspected by authorized Subaru dealerships multiple times. Because the malfunction is intermittent, dealers have stated they cannot fully diagnose the issue unless warning lights are active at the time of inspection. Subaru corporate customer advocacy has been involved in reviewing the case. Warning Lamps / Prior Symptoms: Intermittent transmission and check engine warning lights have appeared repeatedly over several months. The lights often illuminate while driving and then turn off after restarting the vehicle, despite the underlying issue not being resolved.Read more

Beginning in late October 2025, my 2016 Jeep Cherokee North Edition began experiencing a recurring electronic shifter and transmission malfunction. The vehicle displays a “Service Shifter” warning (with an A! with a circle arrow and the check engine light is on) and shakes violently upon shifting; it's straight up psychologically unnerving. This issue creates a significant safety hazard beca
... use the vehicle may not shift accordingly, consequently increasing the risk of unintended vehicular movement and ultimate loss of control. I previously brought the vehicle to a certified Chrysler/Jeep dealership (Big O’ Dodge Chrysler Jeep, Laurens Rd., Greenville, SC) approximately 13 months earlier for mechanical issues while under warranty. At that time, repairs were completed and I was told no additional mechanical concerns were present. The shifter malfunction began after my extended warranty expired (after 20,000 miles). Since the problem began, I have taken the vehicle to a mechanic multiple times. During each visit, a diagnostic scan tool indicated cylinder misfires: First visit: cylinder #1 misfire — I paid for repairs/replacement. Second visit: cylinder #2 misfire — I paid for additional repairs. Third visit: cylinder #3 misfire — I was advised further repairs would be costly and to consider replacing the vehicle. Despite having recently spent $1,500 on these repairs, the shifting malfunction and safety issues have persisted/have not been resolved. I have been unable to safely operate the vehicle for approximately four months due to the risk associated with the transmission/shifter malfunction. I have learned that similar (2014-2017) Jeep Cherokees have been recalled for similar electronic shifter defects. However, my VIN was not included in the recall. In April 2025 my vehicle had a recall (1: SC336 or 25V099), I brought it into a Kia dealership, they said it failed the test, and needed a new engine (i was without a vehicle for weeks, dealership said they did not have any loaners until after 14 days). They then call back weeks later saying the test was faulty, and i could have my car back. They said to keep an eye on it if there are any issues r
... egarding the recall to come back. One morning i started my car, and was driving luckily in a 30mph, my car started to shake, would not speed up/move much, the check engine light came on, almost coming to a complete stop in the middle of a busy road. I was able to move it to the side, turn it off for a bit, once turned back on it was fine. My father who has a background in automotive mechanics checked the oil and noticed there was barely in it- (although just having it been changed) which looks like the oil consumption is fast and going somewhere. I immediately took it to a Kia dealership and they said I would have to go through a whole oil consumption test but it would not be a guarantee fix for engine replacement due to me not going to a dealership, or oil change business. Although my father who changes it, has all the receipts of oil purchase and capability of changing it himself. My oil is changed always in the proper timeline/miles. Which i have a alert on my car to notify me of this. I have noticed the kia does not give an alert when there is "low" oil. I have to drive around with extra oil, and check it almost daily just incase. I am worried that it will stop again but on a busy highway and result in a accident. I am concerned that the recall test was faulty and is resulting in major car issues, for something that is not even that old. As of yesterday i turned my car on and it was shaking and the engine light came on. I have not turned it on since, i will be returning to the dealership today.Read more

Dear NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation, I am submitting this complaint to formally report a transmission failure involving a vehicle equipped with the 10R80 automatic transmission, which I believe represents a serious safety concern and may be part of a larger pattern of premature failures. The transmission began showing signs of failure at approximately 52,000 miles. Early symptoms included
... hesitation, harsh or delayed shifting, inconsistent engagement, and warning signs related to drivetrain or transmission performance. I sought service and diagnosis, but despite many similar failures being reported by other owners, no corrective action or goodwill repair was offered by the manufacturer or dealership. I was quoted approximately $9,000 by the dealership for a full transmission replacement. Due to the high cost, I continued operating the vehicle while monitoring the issue. Over time, the condition worsened significantly. As the transmission continued to fail, the vehicle would sometimes move forward and then suddenly stall or lose drive power while in traffic. This occurred while my family was in the vehicle and created a major safety concern, as the truck could unexpectedly lose movement in active traffic lanes, putting us at risk of a collision and leaving us unable to safely accelerate or clear intersections. On January 30, 2026, the transmission failed completely. The vehicle no longer moved when placed in gear, leaving it inoperable and unsafe to drive. Because assistance was denied and no recall or corrective action was available, I was forced to repair the vehicle at an independent repair shop at my own expense. The repair cost is approximately $7,000 out of pocket. This failure occurred at relatively low mileage for a major drivetrain component and appears consistent with numerous reports from other owners experiencing similar transmission issues. It is concerning that consumers are being required to absorb expensive repairs despite what appears tRead more

2024 Honda Prologue Elite AWD experiences severe drivetrain shudder, banging, and lurching when turning at or near full steering lock at low speeds (e.g., parking lots, U-turns, three-point turns). Severity increases significantly in cold ambient temperatures (below approximately 32°F). The front axle feels as though it is binding and releasing repeatedly, causing the entire vehicle to lurch vi
... olently. The condition is present from cold start and does not fully resolve even after the drivetrain warms up after several minutes of driving. The vehicle has been to an authorized Honda dealer three times in approximately one month for this same condition, all under warranty, between approximately 7,660–7,675 miles: Visit 1: Dealer verified failed outer CV joint on left front half shaft. Left front half shaft assembly replaced. Visit 2: Right front half shaft outer CV joint diagnosed as failing. Right front half shaft assembly replaced. Visit 3: Binding and lurching returned in both directions. Both left and right front half shaft assemblies replaced again. Vehicle held approximately two weeks waiting for parts. In total, four front half shaft assemblies have been replaced across three warranty repairs using the same GM part number. The condition returned immediately upon picking up the vehicle after the third repair. While severity is somewhat reduced, the shudder, binding, and lurching during turning persists. This is not a minor clicking noise as some owners have reported — the vehicle lurches and bangs enough to affect steering control. During a test drive, the foreman acknowledged this was clearly a safety issue. The violent lurching during low-speed turns reduces driver control and steering predictability in parking lots, intersections, and residential areas where pedestrians are present. The abrupt jolting could cause a driver to instinctively brake or overcorrect. No warning lamps or DTCs were present during any failure. Symptoms are purely mechanical.Read more

After a stop sign, I turned right onto a busy street. With foot on the accelerator, vehicle would not accelerate, and I had to quickly turn off into the right of way to avoid a collision. Fortunately there wasn’t a curb there. The vehicle was in “D”. I believe the transmission is faulty. It has happened multiple times. Also, the vehicle occasionally will not go into Park, more evidence
... of a faulty transmission. I believe Ford should recall and replace the transmission before it causes a serious accident.Read more

Clutch started slipping all of a sudden. Check to see if it was under warranty said the warranty had expired because the car was over 36,000 MI did not know about the extended clutch warranty at the time that Honda was extending it due to defective parts so we replaced it ourselves. Upon tear down it was discovered that the clutch disc was only about 30% worn down there were no hot spots in the fl
... ywheel or the clutch cover so the problem was related to the holding force of the clutch cover have we continued to drive the car the way it was it would have burnt it up because it would barely move. I've been in Autotech for 50 years never seen a clutch slipping with this much material left on it and the parts in this condition it is obviously a defect with the part and I submitted a claim to Honda and they denied it had I had known Honda would have taken care of it I would have brought it to them.Read more

Component: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING Summary: The turbocharger on my 2019 Audi Q5 failed prematurely. The initial check engine light and loss of performance began at approximately 48,000 miles, which is within Audi’s 4-year/50,000-mile powertrain warranty. The condition progressively worsened and the vehicle became difficult to drive safely in traffic due to reduced power and hesitation durin
... g acceleration. The turbocharger ultimately required complete replacement at 50,334 miles at a cost of $ 2511.20 This appears to be a premature failure of a major engine component. A sudden loss of power while merging or crossing intersections creates a safety concern. The vehicle has been properly maintained, is completely stock, and has never been modified. No warning was provided prior to the check engine light and rapid performance degradation. I am submitting this complaint because similar turbocharger wastegate failures have been documented in other Volkswagen/Audi vehicles using related engines, and a failure at this mileage should not occur in a properly maintained vehicle. Safety Risk: Reduced engine power and hesitation during acceleration creates a hazardous condition when merging into traffic or crossing intersections. Repair: Turbocharger replacement Repair cost: $ 2511.20 Mileage at repair: 50,334Read more

The vehicle shows a Driver Assistance System Warning randomly. Then the vehicle is unable to accelerate past ~30MPH. We almost got hit when this happened. The warning does not show up in notifications nor does it show up in diagnostics. It gets reverts back to normal when the vehicle is turned off then turned back on. It seems to reset.

The first sign of trouble with my 2016 Ford F-150 was that the blind spot sensor failure light came on while driving. Then the engine warning light came on and the gear indicator on the dash went blank. Also, while the truck was in forward driving motion, it lost throttle control. After stopping the truck and shutting it off, it would not restart. The check engine codes were 0706 and 0707. After c
... learing these codes, the truck started again, but repeated the same issues three more times in one week. The truck was taken to the Ford dealership and confirmed that the lead frame needs to be replaced.Read more
