. I bought this truck for my husband as a birthday present & it has been a nightmare. My husband is a [XXX] & I wanted a vehicle that he would be comfortable in to take him to his numerous medical appointments. The first indication was the check engine light came on. I took to to O'Reillys & they scanned the vehicle & no issue was detected. I then had several instances where the vehicle would not
... start & one instance when it would not go into reverse & the truck was making a noise from the underbody. The windshield washer unit also was not working. I then took it back to the Ford dealership where it was purchased. They ran a scan at the dealership & said there was nothing wrong. They then indicated that I should take it to a Chevy dealer which I did. They stated that Chevy has a special scan that the previous scans cannot access. I documented all the issues and the Chevy dealership found 8 issues including the transmission, holes in the struts, software issues, washer pump, grille shutter & loose battery cables. The Ford dealership agreed to fix the struts & the washer pump as well as the diagnostic testing. I thought we were going to be able to resolve the transmission and the grille shutter issue but that has not happened. The defective grille shutter is what is activating the check engine light. The Ford dealership charged me for fixing the battery cables and yet they were needed to be done again. They also told me that the grille shutter was not necessary as I could drive with it but I would never know when I had an actual problem. They wanted to replace the torque converter. I submitted a request to Carvana & they offered me 5,000 and I paid double that plus. I don't feel safe driving the vehicle and GM is well aware of the issues with this make and Model. On [XXX] at approximately [XXX] PDT, a 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 450+ caught fire at an intersection in Irvine, California. The vehicle was being driven normally. It was NOT charging. It was NOT in a collision. It was stopped at the intersection when the fire began. There was no warning. Four occupants were inside: the driver (age [XXX] ), two minor children (ages [XXX] and [XXX] ), and one eld
... erly passenger (age [XXX] ). All four escaped, but narrowly — the rear child safety locks barely released in time for the children to exit. The vehicle sustained catastrophic cabin burn-through and is a total loss. Smoke and flames appeared to originate from beneath the vehicle, consistent with a thermal event in the under-floor high-voltage lithium-ion battery pack, pending expert investigation. This vehicle is within the population of NHTSA Recall 24V-372 (Mercedes-Benz battery management system software defect, 14,912 2023-2025 EQE/EQS units, including 551 units of the 2024 EQS SUV 450+). Mercedes documented in its Part 573 report that it received field reports of this defect in October 2023 and waited approximately seven months before filing the recall. Mercedes acknowledged fire risk in the EQS platform in NHTSA Recall 24V-115, stating "a risk of fire cannot be ruled out." In February 2026, Recall 26V-073 ordered full battery replacement in EQB vehicles after Mercedes admitted prior software remedies were failed remedies. On [XXX], a Mercedes EQE caught fire spontaneously in a parking garage in Incheon, South Korea while parked and not charging, damaging 140 vehicles. The fire in this vehicle occurred at zero mph with two young children and an elderly grandmother trapped behind child-locked rear doors. The fire department and police responded. The vehicle is preserved pending expert inspection. I request NHTSA ODI open a formal investigation into spontaneous battery fire risk in the Mercedes EQ platform. I have the video BUT I AM UNSURE how to upload or share Incident Description: The vehicle is experiencing intermittent, complete engine stalls while in motion at highway speeds. The failure has occurred four times. Initial Symptom: The issue first manifested as "stuttering" and erratic behavior from the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) which I thought it was. Escalation: The vehicle has
... since progressed to a total loss of power. During these incidents, I was forced to pull over on high-speed corridors (Hwy 46 and Hwy 5) to restart the vehicle. Recurring Pattern: Most recently, after a stall and restart, the vehicle stalled again within a few blocks. I have captured video evidence of the stall occurring immediately after the vehicle was "reset" and put back into motion. Safety Concern: This is a life-threatening defect. The vehicle loses propulsion without warning in high-speed traffic. The manufacturer’s service department (Hyundai) has been unable to identify a diagnostic fault code, citing "No Problem Found," and has only attempted a software/values reset, which has failed to correct the physical stalling.Read more

The collision alert warning lights have been coming on since the DAY I drove out of the dealership! They tried to dismiss it as my fault - I got too close to something (I was simply passing another car). This has been a constant issue and I’ve told the dealership every time I’ve had it serviced. I’ve had about four times that I’ve been driving at high speeds and the vehicle suddenly slams
... on the brakes because it’s “thinking I’m gonna hit something.” Usually it’s if I’m passing another car, but it’s also happened when there is nothing near at all. This past week was the last straw!! I was going 70 mph down the highway, had just passed a semi, and all hell broke loose. Jerked me from side to side, the brakes engaged and were jolting me, smoking, grinding, and screeching horribly because they would not give up in trying to stop me. Oil dumped all over and a burning smell, shaking and jerking, couldn’t steer, etc.. during this scary time, the service 4WD light and crash alert lights all come on. Thankfully the semi I was passing was paying attention and did not hit me. I was two hours from home so the Jeep was towed to the nearest dealership. I later learned there is a service recall that JUST came out early March 2026. It’s called 12D and is a software update related to all these codes it’s been throwing and how myJeep has been behaving for TWO years. Software needs to be updated or can have all this stuff that happened to me… because the systems don’t know what to do?? There is also a service bulletin out there that service techs SHOULD be aware of that addresses known issues with the PTU (power transfer unit). I just learned from the dealership that has my Jeep - the PTU is shot!! Imagine that! They have a PTU unit ordered but will not know what else is damaged until they tear into it. It shouldn’t take an injury or death to get notices out there when there are known issues. Thank you! This dealership where my Jeep is finally seems to know what they are doing!Read more

I am writing to you as a deeply loyal Toyota customer who is facing a distressing and financially significant situation with my 2019 Toyota Highlander. Our family has been committed Toyota owners for several decades. Over the years, we have owned a Toyota Corolla, Camry, and multiple Highlanders — and we currently drive two Toyota vehicles. We have consistently chosen Toyota over other brands b
... ecause of the trust we place in your engineering, reliability, and the value Toyota stands behind. We even replaced all of our Honda vehicles with Toyotas because of that trust. We purchased our 2019 Toyota Highlander during the COVID-19 pandemic, paying above market value because we believed in the Toyota brand and its long-standing reputation for durability. We have never regretted that decision — until now. At approximately 95,000 miles, our Highlander began exhibiting a high-pitched humming noise and gear slippage. We brought the vehicle to our Toyota dealership, who diagnosed the issue as a complete transmission failure. The repair estimate provided was $17,000. We were also informed that this repair would not be covered under any existing warranty. We are not only shocked by the severity and cost of this failure on a well-maintained, 7-year-old vehicle — we are also deeply concerned by what we discovered in our research. There appear to be hundreds of complaints from other Toyota Highlander owners reporting the exact same transmission issue, across the same model years, suggesting this may be a widespread and systemic defect rather than an isolated incident. Given this context, we respectfully ask Toyota to consider the following: 1. A goodwill warranty exception or partial/full coverage of the transmission repair cost, in recognition of our long-standing loyalty and the apparent prevalence of this issue across multiple vehicles. 2. An acknowledgment of the reported pattern of transmission failures in the 2019 Highlander, and whether Toyota is investigating or planRead more

My family and I were merging onto the highway when without warning, the automatic transmission bucked, making a loud thump sound, then it lost power nearly causing a severe accident. The transmission then began to hunt for gears, seemingly confused. It even cycled through 1st gear, my heart dropped, but luckily it did not engage 1st gear since that would have caused havoc at highway speeds. After
... wards, the vehicle regained some power but was suddenly limited to only two gears (5th and 9th). I immediately drove home, when entering my driveway the transmission could not engage reverse. Therefore I had to roll it in using forward momentum. I just had the vehicle serviced a few days ago because this issue happened before (not as severe). However, I was told the vehicle was operating fine and a leaky transmission pan was the culprit. After the transmission pan was replaced, I picked up the vehicle just yesterday (4/11/26), and this incident occurred today,(4/12/26). Please help, this transmission was rebuilt by Ford under warranty (60k mile powertrain warranty) just two years ago due to the notorious defects that have been ongoing. I contacted Ford corporate but they've refused to provide any help. This problem was confirmed by Ford corporate and the dealer, which led to the initial transmission rebuild (in 2024). However I fear this defect may not be repairable since the issue has returned and is more severe. I believe Ford was aware of this defect and did not disclose this information to me prior to buying. If I had known, I wouldn't have purchased this vehicle. Thank you for any support you could provide on this matter.Read more

Incident date: Apr 5, 2026
The component at issue is the engine, which suffered a sudden and catastrophic failure due to unknown causes. At no time prior to this incident were there any warnings, symptoms, or indications of an underlying mechanical defect that would have allowed for preventative action. While operating the vehicle on the highway with my family present, multiple warning indicators activated simultaneously,
... including a blinking check engine light, traction control light, ESC warning, and a forward collision warning. Immediately thereafter, the vehicle experienced a rapid and significant loss of power accompanied by a loud and persistent engine knocking noise, rendering the vehicle unsafe to operate and placing the occupants at risk. It is important to emphasize that traction control and ESC systems are not causally related to an engine misfire condition, further supporting that this event was abrupt and not part of a progressive or diagnosable issue. A diagnostic scan performed at that time identified a misfire in cylinder 1. Upon delivery of the vehicle to the dealership for inspection, it was determined that the engine had suffered complete internal failure and was deemed “blown.” This finding confirms the occurrence of a catastrophic mechanical breakdown. Based on the sudden onset, absence of prior warning, and severity of the failure, there is no reasonable basis to attribute this condition to normal wear and tear, operator misuse, or neglect. Rather, the facts support the conclusion that this was the result of a latent defect or internal mechanical failure beyond the operator’s control. Accordingly, this matter should be addressed under applicable warranty coverage or consumer protection standards.Read more

I am writing to formally notify the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that Mercedes-Benz USA has failed to remedy a known safety defect within a reasonable amount of time, pursuant to 49 U.S.C. § 30120. This notification is submitted in relation to the recall issued under the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act regarding the high-voltage battery cells in the 2023 EQ
... B. The manufacturer has acknowledged that an internal short circuit within the battery cells may lead to a vehicle fire while driving or parked. Despite this, a timely and effective remedy has not been provided, leaving me to manage the following severe burdens: • Safety and Psychological Distress: Every time I operate this vehicle, I experience significant anxiety. My primary concern is the safety of my grandchildren; I am constantly haunted by the question of whether I could safely extricate them from the vehicle should it ignite while in motion. • Property and Liability Concerns: I am currently forced to park the vehicle away from other cars and structures to mitigate the risk of a conflagration. I am deeply concerned about my legal and financial obligations should the vehicle ignite and cause damage to third-party property or result in personal injury. • Diminished Performance: The vehicle currently exhibits a decreased mileage range, failing to meet the performance specifications promised at the time of lease. • Breach of Lease Terms: I am required to make full monthly lease payments as per my agreement. However, Mercedes-Benz is failing to uphold their portion of the contract by providing a vehicle that is safe, functional, and fit for its intended purpose. I request that the NHTSA investigate Mercedes-Benz’s delay in providing a definitive remedy and hold the manufacturer accountable for the loss of use and the inherent dangers posed by this defect. I took it again as it has happened more often and now they tell me it requires a full transmission replacement. *Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? -The issue first appeared last year, I took it and told them that it had a suttle jerk and asked them to inspect and if there were any recalls. No warning lights. *I am seriously concerned for my safety, it is my only good vehicle and worried it can cause an accident with my kids in the vehicle.Read more

For a year I have had my car to the shop multiple times due to a musty smell inside my car. I have never been able to find any fluids or moisture inside the car, however, the inside of my windshield tends to get a weird film on it, I am constantly cleaning to keep visibility especially at night. None of the mechanics that I have taken it to were able to figure it out, and most of them could not sm
... ell The musky smell that I smelled. The car had approximately 40,000 mi on it when this started about a year ago, Maybe 8 months. Recently I have noticed that the coolant in my car is disappearing, I have kept a constant check on it and about once a week have had to add fluids to keep it from getting too low. I have had the coolant system checked out. I've had it flushed. They pressure tested the coolant tank and all tests passed and they could find no issues. However, when my father came to town he checked it out and there is coolant fluid leaking inside my car under the dash and it is dripping slowly on to the underpad of the carpeting and I assume drying up before it gets to a point where it is making a wet spot in the floor. Obviously after more research my father has told me that this has been a known issue with this model of car, however, there is not a recall that I can find with my VIN number. Obviously being stuck in a hot car in Florida, breathing in the fumes from a poisonous liquid is not healthy for me or anyone in my car. This is a safety issue not only for the fumes that I have been breathing, but foggy residue that collects on my windshield creates visual issues especially at night. This could cause me to have a major accident and possibly lose my life. I should not be struggling with a car that I treat like my baby. I have read that this is a design flaw due to the plastic connectors on the hoses, I would like Chevy to stand behind their vehicle and fix this issue for me. I never use the heater, because I live in Florida!Read more

A recall for the possibility that sand may have entered the engine during casting has been in place since November 2025. To date, Stellantis has not provided a remedy that, in my opinion, should require a complete engine replacement. I am required to travel extensively, often hundreds of miles at a time, for work, and this is my only vehicle. I am frequently on freeways with a speed limit of 65-7
... 0 mph. Knowing there is a chance my vehicle could suddenly suffer a catastrophic engine failure and fire at these speeds is absolutely terrifying, not only for me and any injuries that I might suffer, but also for the drivers sharing the road with me.Read more

I took the vehicle in for recall last year and it would not work within 5 months and I saw a transmission warning something about tcm or tsm. I called the dealership and the mfg and both would not pay for the tow and the car sat in my parking lot over the winter. About 4 weeks ago , I jumped the car battery and placed it into drive and within maybe 5 feet it stopped in the middle of the parking
... lot and i saw a warning that said something like no gear found or detected. I turned off the car and turned it back on and safely put it into reverse and quickly back into the parking spot otherwise it would have been stuck in the middle of the parking lot . I restarted the car and saw the same no gear found or detected warning message on my dash and when i put the car in drive the car would not move into any gear . The car is completely inoperable and EXTREMELY UNSAFE and this is due to the SECOND recall that has NO CURRENT FIX. When i contacted the mfg about the two recalls last year, they said that the second recall has no fix and nothing they could do. i can not afford a tow and owe payments. I am reporting an unresolved safety recall (NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V-674, Manufacturer Recall Number: A0C) for my [year/make/model]. The recall was issued on October 9, 2025, and remains listed as “remedy not yet available.” My vehicle is now inoperable due to the defect identified in this recall, resulting in a complete loss of use. Despite the severity of this safety issue, the manufacturer has not provided a repair, interim solution, transportation assistance, or a timeline for when a remedy will be available. This represents an unreasonable delay in addressing a known safety defect, and I am being forced to go without a functioning vehicle because of it. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this matter and require the manufacturer to provide an immediate remedy or appropriate consumer relief. PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS SEVERE ISSUE . I AND MY FAMILY ARE NOT SAFE IN THIS CARRead more

While stopped in heavy traffic at a traffic signal, the engine stopped and would not restart. This was due to the AIS system. The car became disabled in heavy traffic. The first problem began at approximately 5,000 miles. After refueling, the vehicle’s transmission would slip severely. The slipping continued to occur intermittently after that point. I brought the vehicle to a dealership Initially, I was told that nothing was wrong with the vehicle. After further testing, the dealership identified a transmission issue related to Technical Service Bulletin 25-NA
... -211 and stated that the repair was completed. At approximately 8,000 miles, an additional issue occurred where the check engine light illuminated and a warning appeared indicating that the brakes had stopped working. This was extremely concerning and created a serious safety risk. Following the transmission repair, a new and more dangerous issue developed. The vehicle now fails to accelerate properly from a complete stop. When attempting to accelerate, it becomes stuck at approximately 1 mph for around 45 seconds before finally moving. This happens intermittently and creates a high risk of collision when entering traffic or crossing intersections. These issues—transmission slipping, brake warning alerts, and failure to accelerate—pose a serious safety hazard to myself and others on the road. The vehicle has been taken in for service, but the problems have not been fully resolved. I am requesting that this issue be investigated as a potential defect affecting this vehicle.Read more
