There has been a NHTSA recall for AWD module on 2021 and some newer Bronco sports. The letter in reference to this problem dates 4/9/2021 to include only certain VIN at the time based on manufacturing sites. I feel there has been an underestimation of vehicles/parts affected on this recall based on the fact that it included very limited vehicles only 4 month into production. There have been sever
... al more known to be experiencing this same exact issues as evidenced by many reviews online by bronco sport owners experiencing the same problem. Specifically detailing the triggering of same codes (mentioned in this letter) leading to faulty AWD module diagnosis and replacement at the owners cost. I have reached out to Ford North America to file a claim and have been told my VIN is not included, without even comparing with specific part serial number. In addition, I have found the part #LX6Z-7P238-AANP as replacement referred in the letter has now recently been replaced with a newer more expensive version with a different name and part number M1PZ*7P238*C. I also find it significant that the old part is still for sale at a now discounted price on ford OEM website as of today. I believe this indicates there are known problems with this original part causing need for an updated replacement. Given this evidence l, I feel it is only fair that Ford acknowledges vehicles with the same problem/part are experiencing these issues and be willing to extend the recall. I have reached out to North American Ford and have a claim #Cxh-07823745-c2n6y4. In hopes that they will do what’s right for this customer and replace at no charge, aware that it is defective. My vehicle is currently at the dealership and I am hoping for a fair resolution. Thank you for your time and attention.Read more

Vehicle Information: 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe Mileage at failure: approximately 109,000 miles Manufacturer: Hyundai Motor Company The vehicle experienced a complete failure of the automatic transmission system. The failed component is available for inspection upon request. At approximately 98,000 miles, the vehicle’s check engine light illuminated. I brought the vehicle to an authorized Hyundai de
... alership for diagnosis while it was still within the 100,000-mile powertrain warranty period. The dealership inspected the vehicle and advised that no issue was found, and no repairs were performed at that time. Approximately 11,000 miles later, the vehicle experienced severe transmission problems, which progressed to complete transmission failure at approximately 109,000 miles. Safety Risk: The transmission failure resulted in a sudden loss of power and reduced vehicle operability while driving. This condition presents a potential safety risk to the driver and surrounding traffic, particularly during normal roadway and highway use. Prior Inspection / Diagnosis: The issue was not identified or reproduced during the dealership inspection at approximately 98,000 miles when the check engine light was present. Other Inspections: The vehicle was inspected by a Hyundai dealership at approximately 98,000 miles. No inspection by police, insurance representatives, or manufacturer engineering personnel has occurred since the transmission failure. I am writing to formally raise a concern regarding the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) on my Jeep Cherokee, which currently has approximately 123,000 miles and has been driven fewer than 10,000 miles per year. Despite what I would consider normal usage, the PTU appears to be failing—an issue I understand is not uncommon for this vehicle. I have been informed that replacement PTU units are currently o
... n extended backorder, with dealerships reportedly facing a backlog of hundreds of pending repairs. This raises serious concerns, not only about parts availability but also about the apparent frequency of this failure. More importantly, I am concerned about the risk of continued operation while awaiting replacement. Based on my understanding, a failing PTU can place additional strain on the transmission and drivetrain, potentially leading to more extensive damage, overheating, or even sudden mechanical failure. Given that the part is unavailable for an extended period, I am left in a position where continued use of the vehicle may result in further costly damage and possible safety risks. I would appreciate clarification on the following: What steps can be taken to mitigate further damage while the PTU is on backorder? Whether there are any alternative repair options, including temporary solutions or access to remanufactured or used parts Whether any goodwill assistance, extended warranty consideration, or manufacturer support is available given the known issues and current supply constraints I rely on my vehicle for regular transportation and am concerned about both safety and the potential for escalating repair costs due to circumstances beyond my control. I would appreciate a prompt and thorough response outlining available options. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

Incident date: Apr 9, 2026
My vehicle originally underwent an engine replacement performed by the dealership under a manufacturer recall. The engine was replaced at no cost to me. However, only two days after receiving the vehicle back from the dealership, the transmission failed. The dealership has since stated that they cannot determine whether the transmission was already failing or whether damage may have occurred duri
... ng the engine replacement process. Specifically, they indicated there is uncertainty surrounding whether work performed during the engine installation may have contributed to a wiring harness melting, which may have affected transmission operation. Despite acknowledging that fault cannot be determined, Nissan Corporate has offered to cover only 50% of the transmission replacement cost, leaving me responsible for $3,112. This partial payment offer was communicated through Walker Jones Nissan. I do not believe it is reasonable for me to bear half of this expense under the circumstances for the following reasons: • The transmission failure occurred only two days after a major recall repair performed by the dealership. • Prior to the engine replacement, the vehicle was operating without transmission failure. • The dealership has admitted uncertainty as to whether their repair work contributed to the issue. • I have been without my vehicle for approximately two months while this situation remains unresolved. • During this time, I have continued making loan payments and maintaining insurance coverage despite having no use of the vehicle. Given the timing of the failure immediately following recall service and the dealership’s inability to rule out repair-related causes, I respectfully believe full coverage of the transmission repair is warranted as a matter of fairness and customer responsibility.Read more

This created a dangerous safety risk, especially while driving in traffic and at intersections. The vehicle has been maintained regularly, and this issue occurred unexpectedly. I believe this transmission defect may affect other vehicles of the same make and model and should be investigated for consumer safety. The dealership attributed the issue to wrong fuel, but I am concerned the actual issue involves transmission failure. The vehicle gets stuck in gear or "limp mode" and will then suddenly fix itself and switch into the correct gear intermittently. There is often a delay when the vehicle goes into limp mode and the service engine wrench light coming on, so you don't know it's happened until you lose the ability to accelerate. I was almost t-boned when this issue first appeared as I did not realize the vehicle was
... stuck in 4th gear. I was at a flashing yellow light waiting to turn left across traffic. When I saw a gap in the oncoming traffic I proceeded to make my turn only to realize the vehicle had very little acceleration. Because it was stuck in 4th gear it had virtually no acceleration from a stop. Thankfully the oncoming vehicles were paying attention and noticed my vehicle crawling through the turn otherwise I would have been hit. It also can get stuck in lower gears and not shift up, so when accelerating to get onto the highway it will remain stuck in 1st or 2nd gear and as a result drive very poorly at highway speeds. I brought this to a Ford dealership and they had the truck for 3 weeks and told me they couldn't reproduce it and bring it back to them when it was more consistent since it is a very intermittent issue. Even though I showed them my Ford app with over 100+ notifications that stated the issue and they were able to see the vehicle codes they told me there was nothing they could do. I took it to another dealer and their recommendations were: Replacement of Trans Internal Wiring Harness (Molded Leadframe) & Pan Gasket & Filter, Transmission Flush The many notifications in the Ford app that I presented to the dealerships stated: "Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power - The transmission control module has detected that one of the transmission sensors is not sending its information to the module. Bring to authorized dealer as soon as possible" This issue has manifested itself many times for me and I have been going back and forth with Ford about it for months.Read more

I bought my car in 2024 and while it was through a private party i have had transmission issues since the day i bought it. It surges very frequently and has since the day I bought it. Today I noticed it has now started surging at idle without. It does it in park and when I put it in drive it surges forward on its own without me having to push in the gas. This is a huge safety issue not only for my

Being broke down on the side of the road is not something I want to have to do which I understand happens but I feel like not only have I heard terrible things about this year of edges but I’ve experienced it with owning one. I had a few different salesmen tell me at Ford dealerships that the 2020 edges were poorly made and they’ve had complaint after complaint about this very car.Read more

Systemic Hydraulic Defect & Safety Recall Circumvention I am reporting a critical safety defect in the clutch hydraulic system of my 2013 Fiat 500 Abarth, which directly mirrors the failures described in NHTSA Recalls 16V-302 and 20V-124. Diagnostic measurements confirm a 1.23mm hydraulic over-travel in the clutch release bearing/slave cylinder assembly. This over-travel causes the diaphragm spr
... ing to be over-extended, leading to the catastrophic failure of the pressure plate and subsequent inability to disengage the clutch. This poses an immediate safety risk of vehicle surge or inability to shift gears while in motion. Despite this objective engineering data, Stellantis (FCA US, LLC) Executive offices (specifically Mike Macdonald) have formally refused to perform the safety recall repair, citing my status as the "5th owner" as a justification for exclusion. This represents a willful circumvention of a federal safety recall, as the hydraulic over-travel is a latent design defect present since manufacture and is entirely unrelated to ownership history or vehicle maintenance. The vehicle is currently available for inspection to verify these measurements.Read more

Transmission failure at 75k miles. It downshifted from 10th gear into 4th at highway speeds and started throwing transmission codes. Almost caused me to get rid as I was on the interstate in traffic at a speed of roughly 65-70 mph. Vehicle is currently being gone over by a Ford dealership who advises a complete transmission overhaul at the cost of 7,000 or total transmission replacement.

on my way home Friday evening from work. After exiting the expressway , I made a right turn on the street going towards my house. My steering wheel locked to the right and almost caused me to run into another car. If I had not be driving slow than the speed limit or still on the expressway, this would have been a very bad accident, if not fatal! This is after the dealership made repairs on my v

The vehicle generated an error message "Plug In Charging System Malfunction" warning on the dash. The remedy is a Toyota T-SB-0021-21 which requires a software upgrade to fix the air fan sensor reading to the charging unit. This is only considered part of the 60 month/60,000 mile power train warranty despite it being part of the battery charging system which has a 150,000 mile warranty. It is also
... presumably caused by a software error Toyota has made. They should fix this at no cost to the customer, instead I was charged $215 plus tax.Read more

This vehicle safety complaint is regarding my 2019 Toyota Highlander XLE, VIN [XXX] . A Toyota-authorized dealership, Sansone Toyota in Avenel, New Jersey, documented that the front driver axle is prone to freezing in the differential. This is a serious safety concern because if the axle seizes while the vehicle is in motion, it could cause sudden loss of control. This vehicle is used regularly a
... s our family vehicle, including to transport our family of 6 with our young children. I am extremely concerned about continued operation of the vehicle while this documented condition remains unresolved. In addition to this safety-related axle issue, this vehicle has a broader history of serious mechanical problems. On May 13, 2022, after a recent service visit at DCH Brunswick Toyota, I reported that when I pressed the gas the vehicle was making an unusual noise like an old car, that the car delayed to speed when I pressed the gas, that I had to press the gas all the way in order for the car to move faster, and that it was not like this prior to service. At approximately 25,000 miles, I also asked that the brakes be checked because when we drove the vehicle and used the brakes, the car made a startling sound. In 2023, I also reported hard/heavy steering and jerking while driving. I reported transmission-related abnormal noises and drivability concerns while the vehicle was still within Toyota’s powertrain warranty period, but the condition was not properly diagnosed at that time. The transmission has since been confirmed by authorized Toyota dealerships to require full replacement. The vehicle also has a documented engine oil leak, leaking shock absorber, and prior recall history involving a stalling condition. I've filed this complaint with NHTSA due to the axle-related safety risk. Toyota is now on written notice of that condition. Mileage: approximately 101,000 Documenting safety issue: Sansone Toyota, Avenel, NJ Please review this potential safety defect. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATIONRead more

Symptoms of failure was present prior to complete failure. At highway speed, vehicle sometimes resisted steering input. At 20-30mph, steering wanders side to side and fights my steering inputs. When complete failure occurred, steering became difficult at low speed, parking situations. No warning or error message on dash. Vehicle was towed to dealer where they determined the electric motor on the
... steering rack suffered an internal failure. When disconnected from power, the steering rack was smooth, albeit unassisted. When connected to power, the steering rack was stiff and difficult to turn. It was determined that the electric motor resisted steering input rather than assist. Steering racks used by a range of Jaguar Land Rover products in this period also suffered similar internal failures.Read more
