We started to notice a rough idle when starting the vehicle, the check engine light came on. The rough idle continued to get worse. We took it to a Certified Mechanic to have it inspected. Based upon the check engine status, they did further diagnosis through various tests. They determined that the coolant appeared to be seeping into the #1 cylinder. They checked the Ford website for any recalls
... and found a TSB ( Technical Service Bulletin} # 19-2346 regarding the 2.0L Eco-Boost engine. Ford's TSP says to replace the engine block, but does not indicate at who's expense. If this is defective and Ford knows, the consumer should not be responsible to pay for this major expense. What do we do? Within the ;next couple weeks we plan to take the car into a Ford Dealership to do their own diagnosis.Read more

I have a 2018 Toyota C-HR. I fully paid it off several years ago. I’ve noticed a low whirring noise a few times and after maintenance checks they’ve gone away. It started probably around 45/50k miles but around 80k the noise gradually got louder. At my 90k inspection Toyota told me that the noise what coming from my transmission and they didn’t want to complete the transmission flush due to
... the issue. They said I needed to replace the transmission and it would cost roughly $10k. The service provider said he could refer me to an auto body shop down the street but it would still be between $6-8k for a used transmission. He also told me my car is still drivable but he recommended I get it replaced as soon as possible. I paid the car off fully trusting Toyota’s reliability. This complaint concerns my 2016 Mini Cooper Countryman S, All-Wheel Drive. About four months ago, I began experiencing wobbling and noise when making turns at low speed. I took the vehicle to multiple repair shops for diagnosis. The first shop recommended replacing the clutch pack assembly ($2,626 + tax). The second shop suggested replacing the transfer case (~$2,928 + tax). Based on that, I pu
... rchased a used transfer case ($407) and had a third shop install it ($580), but the issue persisted. I then went to a fourth shop, which again insisted it was a transfer case problem. However, since my vehicle is relatively new with low mileage, they recommended reinstalling the original transfer case. After doing so, I noticed only minor improvement, and soon the same wobbling and noise returned. So far, I have spent the following on unsuccessful repairs: $108 diagnostic fee $407 for a compatible used transfer case (purchased from eBay) $580 for the installation of the used transfer case $1,058 to replace the rear differential fluid and reinstall the original transfer case This totals $2,153 in expenses, yet the wobbling and noise issue remains unresolved.Read more

2017 Toyota Highlander XLE Why hasn’t Toyota issued a recall?! My transmission failed at 2AM on the Florida turnpike 140 miles from home, after a physically and emotionally exhausting day moving my daughter to college. ... old me they wouldn’t be able to look at it until Monday. Pointless to pay 2 nights at a hotel, so I got an Uber to get a rental to get home. It wasn’t bad enough when I found out the cost to replace the transmission on a car with 96k miles (my Camry had 300k when I sold it), but even if I agreed to pay, the transmission is backordered, and it could be months. Months! I had to pay the diagnostic fee - completely understandable - and I needed it moved to avoid a $75 per day storage fee. AAA would tow it 100 miles, then $7.00 per mile. When I asked to speak with someone because I had the upgraded membership that provided 200 miles, I was told they wouldn’t cover any part of the tow because it was already at an auto shop. The least expensive option was to get a transport company ($300) to pickup and deliver the car to the local Toyota dealership. They’re anticipating at least 3 months, but they’ll pay for a rental if I agree to have them do the repair. Has Toyota fixed the issue, or will the new transmission likely to have the same problem?Read more

I purchased a 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid (VIN [XXX] ) that was represented as having only an airbag replacement. A certified Honda dealer inspection has revealed multiple serious safety defects: •Driver seat belt buckle malfunction (DTC B0050-F0): The seat belt does not function properly and cannot be repaired without replacing the floor harness. This violates FMVSS 209 (seat belt safety standards).
... •Rear differential/ESC fault (DTC C1851-18): The differential shows signs of prior impact damage, metal shavings were found in the fluid, and the gearbox must be replaced. This affects AWD and electronic stability control (ESC), which is federally required under FMVSS 126. These issues were not disclosed by the selling dealer. The vehicle was sold “as-is,” but selling a car with a defective seat belt and ESC system creates a major safety hazard. Repairs are estimated at $8,692.92 on a vehicle with less than 2,000 miles. This vehicle is unsafe to drive and should never have been sold in this condition. The vehicle was purchased from Central Autohaus, Dallas, TX, on [XXX]. My transmission needed to be overhauled at 65,000 miles, at a cost of $7147 at a Ford dealer. I have all documentation. Symptoms of a power train problems started much earlier than 65,000 miles, possibly around 60,000 miles in summer of 2024. The car was 'pulsing' and losing power when accelerating onto a highway, and in other situations where maneuverability was important. My regular mechanic t
... hought it likely due was misfiring cylinders, and he changed the spark plugs. I asked about the transmission, and he said it was highly unlikely due to the low mileage. But the change in spark plugs did not help the situation. I had no engine warning lights to indicate any transmission problems. The pulsing remained. Late spring 2025, I was getting a new engine light on in the car that I did not recognize. In July, I felt the power drop out (twice) completely during moderate highway traffic traveling from Maine back to Massachusetts in July, which prevented me from keep with the flow of traffic for those instances. Prior to going to the dealer, I went to an independent shop who confirmed my suspicion of the transmission issue through a test drive and with a diagnostic code reader. The shop owner said he had seen this in Ford Escapes before, but mine was the first Edge has had seen. He speculated that since the 2019 cars were now coming of age with similar mileage, he would be seeing a lot more of these issues. He estimated that it would definitely be over $6000 to fix. I chose to have the dealer fix the transmission (higher cost out of pocket) in case of any future recalls where I could be reimbursed. Based on research on the web, this appears to be a common problem with Ford vehicles of this type, built in this timeframe with the 8 speed automatic transmission. I'm surprised there has not been a recall for these transmissions yet. It seems like a poor design that has impacted many consumers. This should be investigated.Read more

My 2014 Honda Pilot has intermittent engine misfires (DTCs P0301–P0304) caused by piston ring failure. The defect leads to rough running, sudden loss of power, and unsafe driving conditions. On October 24, 2024, Crown Motors Honda in Holland, MI confirmed piston ring failure on cylinders 1–3, with oil wash and fouled spark plugs. The vehicle had to be towed when my wife was driving due to loss
... of power. This vehicle is driven daily by my two high-school sons, often with my youngest as a passenger. The misfire and power loss create dangerous situations when merging, accelerating, or driving in traffic. Honda has refused to perform warranty repair unless the check engine light (MIL) is currently illuminated, even though their own Technical Service Bulletin 25-060 explains that stored codes and spark plug inspection are sufficient for diagnosis. Waiting for the CEL to reappear puts my children at risk of sudden failure. The defect has been confirmed by a Honda dealer, and is consistent with known issues covered by Honda warranty extensions and the Soto v. American Honda settlement. The problem is reproducible, poses an ongoing safety hazard, and remains unresolved.Read more

I purchased a 2021 Chrysler Voyager in August 2024 from Apple Autos in Shakopee MN. When we purchased the car, there has always been a rough idle and were assured that this was due to the automatic start/engine. Around July 2025, I began experiencing engine issues that have persisted for over two months. Initial issues were a significant rough idle and car dying. We brought the car in and repaired
... both batteries and replaced all the spark plugs. The issues have persisted. Symptoms include overheating, coolant loss, and misfires on cylinder 3. Diagnostics suggest a head gasket failure. This issue poses a safety risk, especially if the engine fails while driving. I’ve attempted repairs, but the problem remains unresolved. I’m concerned this may be a premature failure affecting other vehicles of the same model and engine type. There is no official recall for head gasket failure on the 2021 Chrysler Voyager, but there are numerous owner reports and forum discussions suggesting that early engine failure and head gasket issues are a concern—especially for vehicles that were former rentals or have the 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine, which is shared with the Chrysler Pacifica. Several Voyager owners have reported head gasket failures around 50,000–70,000 miles. These issues often appear shortly after warranty expiration, leading to costly repairs. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue and consider whether a recall or manufacturer intervention is warranted.Read more
