A dealership has confirmed that the transmission in my 2020 Toyota Highlander is bad. It has 101k miles on it currently. The contact owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact received an NHTSA recall email alert for NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V422000 (POWER TRAIN). After contacting the dealer, who confirmed the VIN inclusion in the recall, an appointment was scheduled. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair; however, upon inspection, the dealer determined that the driveshaft did not require replacement.
... The contact disagreed with the assessment, stating that the driveshaft was visibly corroded. The contact had taken pictures both before and after the appointment. Despite waiting at the dealer for over two hours, no work was performed on the vehicle. The contact notified the manufacturer about the decision of the dealer not to replace the driveshaft. The manufacturer opened a case and stated that a regional technician would be contacted. The contact sent photos to the manufacturer's case associate, who then communicated with both the dealer and the regional technician and confirmed the dealer's initial assessment that the driveshaft did not need to be replaced. The car has been having a chemical smell when it starts. I recently was driving from San Antonio, Texas to Austin, Texas and received a warning that my car was overheating. The warning went off immediately and I continued driving it. A few days later, I got an oil change and was told that I had no coolant in the vehicle. They filled the coolant for me. I continued driving the car. This week,
... the car was shaking pretty violently when I turned on the ignition. I proceeded to drive it and it drove normally. The following day, a check engine light came on. I took it in to see a mechanic that day and they confirmed that I had a coolant intrusion problem caused by the 2.0L Eco boost engine which is defective and allows coolant to escape into the engine injectors. Ford is not taking any responsibility for this and says that it is not under warranty so there's no programs they can offer me. Ford should issue a recall of this defective product to avoid injuries or accidents.Read more

While working out of town for work my engine light started flashing and the dash lights went nuts. My brakes were nonexistent and were hard as a rock. I had zero warning as to what happened. My Mazda CX90 consistently has a hard delay before jerking my car forward, especially when shifting between 2nd and 3rd gear. This is most common at slow speeds and accelerating from a stop. On top of generally rough shifting, there have been four separate instances where my car blatantly stopped accelerating and slowed my car from 70-80 mph down to 40-45 mph. Once driving up a hill, and the res
... t on a flat interstate. I tried flooring the gas each time and the rpms would go up to approx 6000, but the car simply would not respond. After multiple attempts to let off of the gas and re-engage the vehicle, my car suddenly began accelerating again and continued as if nothing happened. I have been able to safely move out of traffic's way each time, but this presents a great threat to myself and others as I have no control over my speed and can easily get into a collision. As if uncontrollable stopping on the freeway isn't enough, my vehicle also accelerates on its own and jolts itself forward when driving at slow speeds through parking lots and stand-still traffic. These accelerations have occurred at idle with the breaks both on and off. The vehicle only propels itself forward by a couple of feet, but the issue seems to be getting more severe each time it occurs. Luckily I have been able to control the car and stop myself from hitting others so far, but I am afraid this may cause harm to pedestrians or people in nearby vehicles. I have mentioned these issues to my local Mazda dealership on multiple occasions, but they dismissed my concerns each time and told me my vehicle is in safe operating conditions. They claim they have not been able to replicate any accelerating/ decelerating instances, and they say the car's shifting is within spec. My car has never thrown any codes or displayed warning lights on the dash. I have taken the vehicle in for all recalls and maintained it well. I recently hit 15000 miles, though these issues have been presenting since 5000.Read more

The Mercedes GLE450 was stopped at a red light. When the light turned green, the driver entered the intersection. The automatic braking system engaged without reason (there was open road ahead), bringing the car to a sudden standstill. The driver accelerated again, but this time the car went backwards into the car behind him. The driver had not shifted into reverse. So the car both slammed on
... the brakes, and switched the transmission into reverse, without driver input. Mercedes-Benz USA conducted an investigation and produced data showing that the car shifted into reverse while it was driving forward; they claimed this was driver error. However, the dealer (and our own experience) says it is impossible to shift the car into reverse when it is driving forward; the car must be stopped before it can shift into reverse. We have asked them to explain this seeming incoherence in their explanation, but they have not responded. Our conclusion is that the car malfunctioned. We still have the dashcam footage recorded during the incident, if that is needed.Read more

The component/system that is malfunctioning is coding P-0826. Dealership says replace Transmission.Based on my experience with the vehicle, the transmission is not the main issue. There are symptoms of an electrical issue that is causing the vehicle to lose power, rough shift, stutter and hard shift. This situation began when traveling back from GA to NC. After having stopped at a rest stop, I pro
... ceeded to get back on the highway and the vehicle hesitated to accelerate as I merged on to the highway. There were no warming lights, dashboard signaling or anything that happened prior to this to warm of this unsafe issue. With traffic behind me already at speeds of 70mph+, this situation could potentially have caused an accident in which I would have been unable to avoid because the car decelerated, hesitated and did not leave me with anyway to maneuver out of the lane. I fortunately was in the merge lane, which I had to constantly tap on the accelerator in order to get the vehicle to shift into the next gear and finally surpass 40 mph so that I could get back on the highway, potentially being able to maintain a safe speed. The vehicle then jolted after reaching 40mph and then after tapping the accelerator again, I was able to increase my speed. Upon returning to NC, I sought mechanical services from the dealership. They had last serviced the vehicle in October 2024, an oil change and put an additive in the engine. The dealership not only was not helpful, but they were unable to diagnose an issue because the vehicle had no check engine light or any dashboard warnings during the entirety of this issue. It was suggested that I get the spark plugs changed, since they considered it may be a misfire within the system. The spark plug change made it worse, eventually the car shook violently while at a red light and the dashboard lights came on and the car did not exceed 15mph. The car was serviced again and the coils were replaced. The problem still persists.Read more

My 2017 Audi Q7 Prestige 3.0T 6Cyl GAS CREC Supercharged has experienced repeated, serious failures involving the engine, powertrain, and fuel system. - At 72,000 miles, the vehicle developed coolant leaks under the supercharger, a failed water pump, and soaked drive belts. Repairs included multiple hoses, gaskets, and thermostat replacement. -Shortly after, repeated PCV/Oil system failures cause
... d oil leaks, warning lights, and engine shaking. Repairs included PCV system, oil separator, valve cover gasket, breather pipes, and new spark plugs. - at 111,000 miles, the low-pressure fuel pump and relay failed, causing the vehicle to stall and lose all power while driving- a major safety risk. -Most recently, the engine developed a severe misfire in cylinder #4. Compression testing confirmed abnormally low compression (15 psi) due to a suspected cracked valve seat. The vehicle cannot be repaired without a complete engine replacement, quoted at ~$20,000. Safety Impact: - Vehicle has stalled suddenly in traffic due to fuel and engine failures, risking crash or injury. - Coolant and oil leaks present a potential fire hazard. - Loss of power and shaking while driving put my family and others at risk. Inspection/Confirmation: -All problems have been repeatedly confirmed and repaired by an independent Audi specialty service center (S&S Auto Repair). - Numerous invoices document coolant, oil, fuel, and engine failures. Warning Signs: - Multiple dashboard warning lights appeared either right before or during failure, including engine malfunction, coolant loss, and auto start/stop malfunction. These repeated failures at relatively low mileage suggest a design/manufacturing defect with the Audi 3.0T engine platform that compromises both safety and reliability. The issue seems to be widespread amongst other Audi owners with the same 3.0T engine- Per AudiWorld Forums.Read more

Upon commuting to work, the car failed to accelerate causing the car to almost suddenly stop while driving; at the same time of the failure warning lights and beeping occurred. No warnings prior to failure. By God’s grace, I was not yet on the expressway and avoided what would have been a horrible accident jeopardizing not only my life but the lives of anyone that would have been behind me. T
... he gasket failed (cylinder #3) and is available for inspection upon request. It was a significant safety issue as the failure occurred without warning causing the car to stop no warning. Yes, the dealer has confirmed the failure and I was quoted a $5800 repair cost in spite of a owning a lifetime power train warranty. No, the vehicle or component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance. I did place a call to American Honda and we were given a case #15822812 (but this case has since been closed without action.) No warnings occurred before the failure. (Beeping and messages occurred at the time of failure.) Had the failure occurred at a high rate of speed, on an expressway, loss of life could have occurred and no one would know what caused the accident since cars are usually towed away and declared “totaled.” Fortunately, I was on a road of 35mph but in just a few more minutes would have been at a speed of 65mph. There is a further safety concern that the dealer admits that there is a known problem with the OEM component but plans to continue to replace with the same product. Note: this car has a superior care record and only 110,000 miles which means the failure is likely to occur again with the same parts. Internet searches are confirming this is a known product failure with no recall.Read more

While driving my 2022 Kia sorento on the interstate a sudden check engine light illuminated and the car totally stalled out with a severe decrease in power causing me to almost be rear ended by interstate traffic before I could get off the road safely. After taking the vehicle to the dealership for diagnostics I was informed there was a P1C2D03 trouble code which is associated with the 8 speed du

Upon further investigation we find out this code was associated with a safety recall that went out for this particular Kia model and transmission. The original owner took this car in to have the recall repaired back in 2023 without the fault code showing or any issue presenting from the vehicle. They were simply taking it in to clear the recall they were sent. While it was at the dealership they flashed the system like they were supposed to do according to the campaign instruction and sent them on their way. Fast forward to now and I am getting this same fault that the recall was sent out for but I have the code which according to the campaign instructions Kia was supposed to replace the transmission due to a mfg defect. I am writing to report a serious safety concern involving my '22 Subaru Forester, which is equipped with the Auto Start/Stop feature. This issue created a dangerous driving situation that could have resulted in severe injury or death to myself, my family, or other drivers on the road. While driving on the highway, our Forester's Auto Start/Stop system malfunctioned causing the engine to shut off c
... ompletely while the vehicle. Specifically, the vehicle shut down in the left lane of traffic and failed to restart immediately leaving us unexpectedly immobile. Fortunately, my husband remained calm and immediately placed his foot back on the brake, placed the vehicle in park and restarted the vehicle manually by pressing the ignition button. However, had he hesitated during the confusion by not placing his foot back on the brake we could have been rear-ended, possibly by a large semi-truck which would have propelled us into the vehicle in front of us. Our dealer said the Auto Start/Stop system failing to restart the vehicle due to a weakening battery—for which there is no warning. The fact that a non-critical feature like fuel-saving Start/Stop is allowed to override the engine's operability based on battery voltage is deeply concerning. Batteries degrade over time. But a degraded battery should not be allowed to disable a moving vehicle.Having spoken directly with Subaru of America about this issue, they acknowledged and documented my case however I was told that it would be used as data for potential future action if other similar cases arise. In the meantime, no corrective action is being taken by Subaru, with me as an owner or proactively with the feature design.I respectfully urge the NHTSA to investigate this matter as a potential safety defect. The Auto Start/Stop system, as implemented in certainSubaru models (specifically the 2022 Forester in my case) may compromise safe vehicle operation when battery voltage drops below a certain threshold which is a safety flaw.Read more

... ions, this has nearly caused me to lose control and creates a high risk of being rear-ended by other drivers who are not expecting the sudden slowdown. Yes. Autonation Ford of North Canton, Ohio, confirmed the issue on August 13, 2025. Yes. Autonation Ford of North Canton inspected the transmission and stated it was likely due to worn CDF drum clutches. There were no warning lamps or messages. The symptoms began before August 2025 when the transmission started slipping, shifting hard, and then downshifting unexpectedly. The issue occurred just one month after the warranty expired. The dealer quoted me approximately $7,000 to repair it. I have read that Ford has replaced the old pressed bushings in this part with welded ones to prevent this failure, which suggests this may be a known defect in the original design.Read more

I am filing a complaint against Ford Motor Company for their refusal to honor Recall 15B22 (Customer Satisfaction Program) related to the transmission issues on my 2014 Ford Fusion Hatchback. We purchased this vehicle as the second owners, and it currently has only 140,000 miles. Despite the recall still being in effect, Ford has denied coverage and is demanding nearly $2,000 to repair the transm
... ission, stating that it needs a new computer. This has caused significant hardship for my family. The vehicle is my son’s first car, purchased with the last of our savings, and it has been stuttering horribly, making it unsafe and unreliable to drive. What should have been an exciting and empowering first-car experience has turned into a stressful financial and emotional burden. Recalls exist to correct known defects that compromise safety and vehicle reliability. Ownership status should not be grounds for denying repairs. Ford’s refusal to perform the repair under Recall 15B22 violates the spirit and intent of consumer protection laws and leaves families like mine without recourse. I respectfully request that your office investigate this matter and require Ford to cover the transmission repair under the recall, as they are obligated to do. I am happy to provide additional documentation, including my vehicle information, service denial, and any related correspondence. Thank you for your time and attention. I look forward to your assistance in resolving this matter fairly and promptlyRead more
