Noticed 2021 Toyota highlander start whining around 85000 miles. Did some research on the sound and found that Toyota UA80F transmissions have all had the same issue and issued a tsb to their dealerships but not people who purchased the car. Summary: Sudden loss of engine power while driving due to lifter failure. Details: While driving my 2022 Chevrolet Suburban equipped with the 5.3L V8 (RPO L84), the engine suddenly lost power without warning. The vehicle began misfiring and lost propulsion in traffic, creating a hazardous situation. I was unable to maintain normal speed and had to maneuver to safety while the truck rapidly lost p
... ower. The dealer later diagnosed the problem as a collapsed lifter/valvetrain failure — an issue that GM has already documented in service bulletins (PIP5776G, 23-NA-043) and a service update (N212353840). These bulletins show GM has long been aware of defective lifters in 5.3L engines. This is not just a drivability concern. A sudden engine failure and loss of propulsion while driving poses a clear safety risk, especially when merging, crossing intersections, or towing. I maintained the vehicle properly and have all service records. I request NHTSA investigate these widespread lifter failures in GM’s 5.3L V8 engines as a safety defect, since they can and do cause sudden loss of power in motion.Read more

After a heavy rainstorm in [XXX] , my 2005 Land Rover LR3 experienced catastrophic water intrusion through the A-pillar design flaw documented in Land Rover’s own TSB LA501-007. When I opened the passenger door, ~1.5 inches of water poured out. Immediately afterward, the vehicle developed multiple failures: flickering lights, radio inoperative, driver’s window stuck, ABS warning lights illumin
... ated, “Transmission Fault” error displayed, and the air suspension automatically lowered into its fail-safe mode. This is not wear and tear. Land Rover has acknowledged the defect internally (A-pillar locator holes allowing water ingress into the footwell), but never issued a recall or owner notification. Flooding the footwell shorts the electrical/fuse boxes, causing cascading failures in braking, suspension, powertrain, and electrical systems. This presents a serious safety hazard as the vehicle may lose proper braking, suspension height, or drivetrain function simply from exposure to rain. Problems began on 11/27/2024, less than 3,000 miles after I purchased the vehicle, and have been ongoing ever since, including prior emergency towing events due to similar safety issues. Kia’s repeated failures to provide a lasting fix or safe remedy have left me without reliable transportation and have put both myself and other drivers at risk. After safety recall 73B was performed on my 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid on 08/25/2025, the vehicle's check engine light illuminated on 09/09/2025. I was inundated with multiple failure lights including; check engine, service electronic throttle control, service hybrid electric vehicle system, blind spot alert, and I felt like I lost power steering. I was unsure if the van was safe to drive
... , but was able to get it to the dealership. They were able to pull multiple codes. Including the one for the check engine light. They decided that the problem was related to the ABS control module. They replaced it and the van has been fine so far. It seems these error codes are widespread after performing recall 73B. Many other customers are complaining of the same thing. I believe these errors are from the testing to the High Voltage battery, and their 'software fix'. It's not safe to lose your power steering while driving. It's not safe to have multiple error codes continuously going off while operating the car. It's not safe to have a family car that we have been told twice to not park in the garage, charge, or park near a structure. This is their second attempt at 73B, and overall the second fire recall. My van and high voltage battery are definitely available for inspection.Read more

Steering the vehicle in a low gear causes the vehicle to tremble or shudder. The dealership identified the problem to be the transfer case fluid. In manufacturing, BMW put a fluid which did not meet the specifications of the vehicle. The transfer case fluid is documented in the manual of BMW X5 M50i (2021) to be something which does not require replacement in the lifetime of the vehicle. I raised
... this issue when the vehicle was under warranty, but the dealership ignored the issue. After the warranty period was over (62,000 miles), the dealer recommended that I replace the fluid to fix the shudder issue. It is a very well known issue, and there is a service bulletin issued to the dealerships to deal with this particular case (SIB 27 02 20). After the fluid replacement, the issue went away. This issue is widely known by the dealership, and it is a safety issue. I had to pay for the fluid replacement, and I believe BMW should have recalled this issue to replace the fluid for ALL X5s manufactured in 2020 and 2021. This is a safety issue.Read more

Over the past nine months, I’ve been experiencing ongoing issues with my 2018 Hyundai Tucson engine and transmission. After four consumption tests and a flush confirming that the engine is burning between 0.8 and 0.3 liters of oil for every 1,000, I was informed Hyundai refuses to either repair the issue or conduct testing to determine the cause. The timeline is summarized below: •February 2
... 025 – I was told by [XXX] my vehicle simply did not have enough oil after the last oil change; •March 2025 – I was informed an initial consumption test needed to be completed; •May 2025 – a second consumption test revealed the engine was burning more than 1 liter per 1000 and a flush was completed; •July 2025 – a third consumption test was completed, revealing that while the engine was excessively burning oil, it was not currently at 1 liter per 1000 based on that test; August 2025 – the oil light came on & I was instructed to put a liter of oil into my vehicle to make it to the certified dealer for next steps. The next steps were another consumption test. Unfortunately, because I was told to add oil to make it to the dealership, I was then informed that this added oil would alter the testing, and we had to start over. •September 2025 – I am now awaiting the results of the fourth consumption test. I have receipts for every 6 months or 7,500 of service since purchasing the vehicle., Despite the engine and transmission being under warranty, the dealership has refused to conduct testing to determine the cause of the issue or remedy the excessive consumption. 1am filing this complaint regarding my 2016 Ford Edge (VIN: [XXX] ), which has experienced a severe and dangerous failure. Ford has acknowledged a defect in the flexplate at the transmission bellhousing area under Customer Satisfaction Program (CSP) 22N12. This defect causes rattling noises and eventually results in flexplate cracks that can lead to sudden loss of power while driving. My vehicle
... is currently undrivable due to this defect. I have documentation from February 2025 (A&M Auto Repair, Invoice #[XXX]) showing that a technician identified noise from the rear of the engine/front of the transmission area and suspected flexplate cracks at that time. Despite this, my vehicle never received the CSP repair. Ford is refusing to cover the repair because my vehicle has exceeded the 120,000-mile cutoff for CSP coverage. However, this is not acceptable because: •The defect was documented earlier and existed within the coverage period. •More importantly, this is a serious safety defect that can cause sudden power loss while driving, creating a high risk of accidents. •Ford has incorrectly limited the remedy under a CSP with a mileage cutoff, instead of issuing a proper safety recall without mileage limits. Requested Action: I am requesting NHTSA to investigate and require Ford to: 1.Treat the flexplate defect as a recall, not a CSP. 2.Provide full repair coverage for affected vehicles regardless of mileage. 3.Ensure consumer safety is not compromised by arbitrary mileage cutoffs. In addition, my vehicle has also experienced repeated brake warning lights, which aligns with Ford’s brake hose recall (NHTSA Recall 25V544). The combination of braking issues and flexplate failure creates an extremely unsafe condition. Thank you for your attention to this urgent safety matter. Component Failed: Water pump (engine cooling system) - Part has been superseded by BMW with upgraded version, indicating manufacturer awareness of defect. Failed component retained and available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: Complete water pump failure at 56,611 miles created immediate risk of catastrophic engine overheating and potential engine seizure while driving. BMW-certified mec
... hanic warned that driving vehicle even short distances could result in total engine failure, creating risk of: Sudden loss of power on highways/intersections Engine fire from overheating Being stranded in dangerous locations/conditions Complete loss of steering assist if engine stops Confirmation: BMW-certified independent mechanic (formerly employed by BMW) confirmed water pump failure and identified it as "common B58 engine issue." BMW dealer (Silver Spring) immediately quoted exact repair cost of $2,300, indicating familiarity with this failure pattern. Mechanic documented that BMW has superseded the original part with an upgraded design, suggesting manufacturer acknowledgment of defect. Inspection Status: Failed part preserved by mechanic with full documentation including BMW's superseded part number from their system. Vehicle not inspected by BMW due to dealer network failure - three dealers failed to respond, one took 5+ hours to return call, none could provide service in reasonable timeframe. Warning Signs: No prior warning symptoms. Failure was sudden and catastrophic. Temperature gauge spiked without warning during normal driving conditions. No previous cooling system issues or warning lights. Regular maintenance performed per BMW specifications. A Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power light showed up on my 2024 Ford F150 4x4 (9700 miles) [XXX] and again [XXX] and several other times including today. I immediately took it to Ford of Columbia in Columbia TN, and the diagnoses that there was an issue with the Gear Shift Lever Module (Part #RL3Z7210AD) and it was ordered. I did a follow-up with Ford of Columbia Sept on Sept 16, 2025 and said t

The code clears itself after setting for a short time, but when idling or driving at low, medium or high speed, the light on the dash (shape of a Wrench) comes on. I have not yet lost power as this Issue occurs, but the Dealer, both Ford of Columbia (TN) and Reiselman Ford in Dickson (TN) said not to drive it long distances as the Truck could lose power causing an accident or stranding us on the road. Evidently, both dealerships have indicated that Ford Manufacturing or the Gear Shift Lever module are trying to come up with a remedy, but so far, the part is still on backorder and no one seems to know when it will arrive.
