It started appearing to be electrical and ended in some type of engine/system emergency! I rented this vehicle through Avis and the first few days everything appeared ok, regarding the functionality vehicle. Mid-day on 10-4-25, I attempted to put groceries in the trunk, wouldn’t open. After 4 minutes, I gave up, assuming I’m doing something wrong. That evening, the gas mileage hadn’t moved re
... mained at (90), the battery light, oil pan, mph:stuck on 23, and the rev stuck on 1.2, and the Odometer hasn’t changed. When I removed the key the dash board remained on and once I hit the lock button it turned off.10-5-25, I put gas in the car and the indicator marker never moved. I called to report these issues because my vehicle was not inspected before I left the lot. We canceled our paid trip and headed back to TX. While driving, the gas and oil pan light would turn on (2-3 min) then go off. While on the freeway, suddenly, the car shuts off. The best way I can describe it during the process is (sitting in a parked car with the ACC position) everything is working but the car isn’t “on”. Due to MPH being stuck at 23, I can say I was literally going the speed limit (60-65, flow of traffic) to 0! The phones were still charging, lights, and dashboard stayed lit, hazards light worked, and we literally rolled until the car stopped! Since this is a rental by law it should have been checked before handing me the keys. The employee handed me the keys and pointed to the car from his computer. As soon as I was aware it was a problem I called multiple times to report this. When the situation was not properly handled by Avis the first 4 times, I called the police. I requested to file a report and the officer did not show, however, Harris County sent a tow truck. I will be filling a police report in the morning. Although there is not a recall, I see there are social groups with similar issues in the Kia 2024 Sol! This was a lemon rental and the experience was traumatic!Read more

I was called and told they were unable to reproduce the problem and that I could come pick up the car. I was told by your service advisor that the problem "could be rats or rodents in my garage". I was greatly taken back by that suggestion because I live in an upscale neighborhood, with a highly secured finished garage and have never had any rodent problems. I mentioned that to the service advisor, and she said "You'd be surprised how many people tell us they don't and we find out they had a rodent in their garage". I couldn't believe I was having a conversation of such sorts. I laughed it off and took the vehicle home, quite disgusted that it was suggested that this hard shifting might be "My problem because of rodents". For nearly a year, I have been unable to drive my vehicle due to a serious safety recall involving the HCU/ABS module. Despite the known risks — including false brake light illumination, disabled ABS and Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and the ability to start and shift out of park without pressing the brake pedal — the manufacturer has failed to provide a remedy or even a timeline for rep
... air. This delay is not only unacceptable, it is dangerous. I am a veteran who needs to drive to appointments frequently and have been having a lack of proper care because of this as well. The safety risks outlined in the recall are not hypothetical. They represent real, daily threats to myself, my family, and others on the road. A vehicle that can move without brake input poses a hazard even when parked. A disabled ABS and ESC system compromises control in emergency situations. And brake lights that activate erroneously can mislead other drivers, increasing the likelihood of a collision. These are not minor inconveniences — they are critical failures that could result in injury or death. What makes this situation even more urgent is that I am expecting a child. I cannot afford to gamble with safety, especially when the risks persist even while the vehicle is stationary. The fact that I’ve been unable to use my car for almost a year has disrupted my life and left me without reliable transportation during a time when I need it most. The manufacturer’s lack of action — no repair, no interim solution/refund, no meaningful communication — reflects a failure to prioritize customer safety and well-being. This recall has not been handled in a timely or responsible manner. I am calling on NHTSA to take immediate steps to resolve this issue, provide a safe and functional vehicle or refund to ensure that no other families are left vulnerable due to inaction.Read more

Drove it home with barely any power. Got it towed to the dealer and transmission was blown and they will not cover it because it’s past warranty of 5 yrs (2nd owner). The car is a 2019 with 53k miles. It should not need a new transmission. Apparently this car is now having many transmission issues. There was a service campaign issued by Kia back in 2018, 2020, and 2022 for this exact problem. Clearly there is an ongoing issue with their transmission. But since it is not a recall, the consumer has no way of know this until after it’s too late. When a transmission just shuts down without any warning, this is a MAJOR safety issue as you no longer are able to properly drive the vehicle. This should be a RECALL. Not an in-house technical bulletin announcement. There’s an abundance of safety concerns associated with this. Let’s not wait for somone to get killed in a car crash because it’s not being corrected by doing a recall on these transmissions that is a continual ongoing issue.Read more

The car had less than 350 miles on it at the time of failure. This incident is extremely concerning for a brand-new vehicle and raises questions about potential safety and manufacturing defects in the 2025 Jetta model line. Vehicle has just over 62,000 miles on it and is just out of warranty. On [XXX] I was driving home from Colorado and the 10r80 transmission hesitated downshifting for a few seconds when climbing a hill and let out a very loud banging sound which shook the whole truck. Shortly after, the transmission tried to downshift and upshift on it's own repeatedly and would not transfer power at all. I quickly
... shifted it into neutral and pulled to the side of the road. This was really sudden and happened with no warning at full highway speeds(75 mph) on [XXX] southbound. If my wife would have been driving, I am not sure she would have been able to react as quickly. She wouldn't have realized what was happening. This could have easily resulted in a serious or life threatening accident. The leaking fluid also caused a sigificant amount of smoke on the underside of the vehicle as it dripped on the exhaust system. I quickly shut the vehicle off realizing it could catch on fire, but someone may not realize this as a possibility in the moment. I currently have the vehicle at a local transmission shop who has rebuilt several of these Ford 10r80 transmissions. His opinion, which will be verified by the teardown process as he rebuilds it, is that there are several common failure points which should have already been recalled by Ford in these transmissions. #1. The CDF drum which holds the clutch packs is machined in a way which allows the seal to slip and cause falure. #2. The valve body is know to wear prematurely which causes movement and leakage contributing to failure. #3. The high pressure pump is also a known failure point which can cause downstream shift issues and failure.
