CDF Drum Failure is a known issue to Ford. They have issued a technical service bulletin (TSB 22-2428) to replace poorly designed components that have since been redesigned. The failure mode can cause violent gear shifts (from gear 10 to gear 1) at high speeds, which is a significant safety concern. While driving on the highway, the transmission would not shift between gears and the car lurched. C
... heck engine light came on and I exited the highway immediately. I took my vehicle to be looked at, and they diagnosed the problem as CDF Drum failure. Ford needs to take responsibility for their problematic design in these vehicles.Read more

Last year I received a message, letter and perhaps an email related to my jeep and recall for the clutch plate assembly. The recall was performed twice because first was incorrect. Transmission had to be replaced a few weeks later. Since then, I've had numerous visits to dealership, and had several incidents this week traveling across country to clear "Service Transmission messages: on the displa
... y, and two incidents where the jeep went into "limp mode" at high speeds. Four more stops have not fixed the problem. Now I am at a place who has found that the transmission was not installed properly, the software wasn't properly flashed and things were left hanging (connectors and cables) without being properly secured. The transmission was replaced under warranty, which has run out, but these messages have been appearing since the original recall. Now, I am going to have to pay a large fee (over 3000 dollars) to get Jeep back. Plus paying 100 to another dealership in Kansas to have them look at the jeep without a remedy. (See:Jeep Recall 19A / NHTSA Campaign 23V116, NHTSA Recall 24V-572, NHTSA Recall 21V-028 / Jeep Recall Y01 ) - my Jeep is listed as "0 recalls" but the dealership has not reported any work on my vehicle to CarFax. The repair shop is working with me to collect evidence (Photos, documentation, and data about the Jeep's issues. ALL of this began immediately after the first recall last year, and these problems have not been remedied, and the Jeep has become dangerous when on the highway. (Limp mode multiple times: 17 Feb2026, 13 May 26, 13 May 26 all at highway speeds). This should have been covered under warranty, and I should not be subjected to "No repair" because a dealership "Doesn't see a problem" - the computer doesn't keep any codes for these incidents, thus they will not dig into the problem, and now warranty has expired so they can charge whatever they wish.Read more

The vehicle’s rear differential has developed significant internal "play" (excessive clearance between gears). This defect manifests as abnormal vibration and inconsistent power delivery to the wheels. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized BMW Technician at Passport BMW . Although I reported hitting a curb (low-speed impact), the official diagnostic report from the BMW Technician explicitl
... y stated that the curb impact did not cause the differential failure. The technician identified the issue as a failure of the internal differential components, which is consistent with numerous reports of drivetrain defects in the B MW X5. Despite the vehicle being well under the 50,000-mile warranty threshold and the technician’s own finding that external damage was not the cause, BMW is currently refusing to honor the warranty repair for this critical mechanical component. as i come to a stop and go to accelerate my transmission stutters and sometimes slips,i went to gm website and there is a recall on the 2018 chevy traverse transmission but my vin isnt included. i have all the symptons of the recall as described on the gm website but again my vin isnt included in the recall. it only has 61k miles i been having issue since around 30k i been in and out of dealership

I am submitting this complaint regarding my 2022 Acura MDX Advance, currently with 71,007 miles. After completing the standard transmission fluid service around the 60,000-mile maintenance interval, I began noticing abnormal drivetrain/transmission behavior that was not present before. At times, the vehicle feels as if the transmission is slipping, hesitating, or failing to transfer power smoothly
... . Acceleration can feel delayed, uneven, or weaker than normal, and on some occasions the vehicle seems to surge or accelerate slightly in a way that does not feel consistent with normal pedal input. This is a safety concern because the vehicle may not respond predictably when accelerating from a stop, merging, passing, or driving at highway speeds. A delay, slip, surge, or loss of expected acceleration could increase the risk of a crash, especially in traffic. The symptoms appear to involve the transmission, drivetrain, torque converter, transfer case, software calibration, or related components, but I am requesting a proper investigation to determine the actual cause. My concern is that this issue could worsen or affect other 2022 Acura MDX vehicles if it reflects a broader defect. I am requesting that NHTSA document this complaint and review whether 2022 Acura MDX models may have a safety-related issue that can cause slipping, hesitation, surging, delayed acceleration, or loss of expected power after normal maintenance. Acura should evaluate whether owners need inspection, repair, software updates, or other corrective action.Read more

I purchased this vehicle brand new. From day one I have had constant transmission related issues that make it feel unsafe and unreliable. When it was still under the factory warranty it was brought back to dealer multiple times. Each time I was told it's a normal characteristic of that transmission or that a simple fluid flush would fix it. It was flushed a couple of times and it would "help" for
... a short while. Software for the transmission control module was updated by dealer. Nothing that was done ever actually fixed the issues. The transmission bucks, jerks, clunks when up & down shifting. Lunges forward when almost to a complete stop. Shudders at higher speeds above 45-50 mph. Occasionally if I slow down from cruising speed and press accelerator to speed back up, it doesn't accelerate because it won't shift down from the higher gear it was in.Read more

In the second year of ownership I noticed that occasionally I would get no throttle response from the gas pedal when trying to accelerate. After several occurrences I began to pay close attention as to when this was occurring. I found that this occurs mostly, not exclusively, when I am slowing the vehicle to a near stop, not a full stop and then accelerating to continue, like slowing to round a
... corner on a green light and getting into traffic. For example, I was exiting a Home Depot parking lot, the driveway exits to the roadway. As I approached the driveway to enter the roadway I slowed, preparing to stop. Seeing no traffic on the roadway I then pushed the accelerator to enter the roadway. The pedal was dead, I got absolutely no acceleration. I pushed the pedal down slowly, nothing. I pushed the pedal to the floor, nothing. The truck rolled out onto the road, I coasted to the side of the road. Had there been traffic I'd have been hit. This has happened 20 times in two years and 80K miles. The most recent event was this week with my wife present, very scary, dead pedal, not throttle response. If you research "Dead Pedal" on GOOGLE, you will get the following response: The "dead pedal" in the Ford F-150 PowerBoost—a dangerous lag or total loss of throttle response—is a widely reported issue, particularly when accelerating from low speeds, turning, or right after starting. [1, 2, 3] The cause can range from a software glitch to transmission issues or failing sensors. Ford said there was a TSB, however the work performed had no effect on the dead pedal on my truck. Invoice attached from March 2026, it just occurred again this week. I am going to trade the vehicle in but I doubt that Ford will disclose this flaw to the next buyer, it will be their's to discover, hopefully not by "accident". I am going to trade this vehicle in and I'm sure the new buyer will have no idea of this potentially deadly flaw.Read more

For the past several years, this vehicle has experienced a recurring and unresolved engine malfunction that creates a safety hazard. ... tion performance during normal driving • Vehicle becomes difficult to control safely The malfunction occurs intermittently but follows a consistent pattern. This is not an isolated incident but a recurring defect that has persisted for years. Multiple diagnostic and repair attempts have been unsuccessful: • Coconut Creek Hyundai service center - unable to diagnose [DATE(S)] • Independent mechanics - unable to resolve [DATE(S)] • Issue remains unresolved despite multiple service visits Despite multiple attempts by qualified technicians, the root cause has not been identified and the defect has not been corrected. This malfunction creates a significant safety hazard: • Unintended acceleration increases risk of collision • Reduced acceleration capability limits ability to merge or accelerate safely • Check engine light indicates undiagnosed system failure • Problem is intermittent and unpredictable, making it unsafe to drive I am concerned this may represent a defect pattern affecting multiple 2019 Sonata vehicles. NHTSA should: 1. Investigate whether this represents a defect pattern in 2019 Hyundai Sonata vehicles 2. Determine if a safety recall is warranted 3. I am experiencing a severe safety hazard with my 2018 F-150's 10R80 transmission. While accelerating, the transmission unexpectedly drops into neutral during the 2nd-to-3rd gear shift. The engine revs to the redline, then violently slams into gear, causing the truck to jerk forward unpredictably. This creates a terrifying, uncontrollable moment in traffic. A mechanic diagnosed the issue and stated
... it requires a complete transmission replacement using the newly updated, redesigned parts to prevent a recurrence. I am the second owner and the previous owner did a transmission flush and filter at 120k miles, currently at 140k miles and the transmission has failed. The previous owner had a detailed service history thats why I bought the vehicle because it was in such good shape.Read more

Our Hyundai has a powertrain problem that is intermittent and random, and manifests itself in a couple of ways: 1) It drops out of gear while you are driving; there is no forward propulsion at all; the engine will rev when you press the gas, but no forward movement at all. You have to coast to a stop (or panic stop if the traffic allows), put it in reverse, drive backwards, then the transmission w
... ill “chunk” back into gear, then you can put it back in drive and continue forward again. This is life-threatening on a busy road or highway. Traffic has to flow around you like water around a rock in a stream while you try to use what’s left of your forward momentum to pull to the side of the road. Absolutely terrifying!!! The dash has also gone completely blank during some of these episodes. Nothing changes the situation: pressing “D”, shifting the paddles, nothing gets the vehicle back in gear. We have video taped these events twice, and provided those videos to our Hyundai Service Center, and to the Hyundai National Consumer Affairs team. They claim that they can’t reproduce it on demand, so they have done NOTHING. We are scared to drive the car. 2) As you start accelerating from a stop, the powertrain will miss the next gear. The engine revs, but you are not in gear, then it will catch a gear and continue to accelerate. These events happen often, but seemingly randomly. After several episodes last year, and no Service Center resolution, we reached out to the Hyundai National Consumer Affairs team, and have continued to be in contact with them, but they have not helped in any way to resolve this. They have assigned numerous Case numbers and Reps, and have emailed me over 20 times instructing me that I should go AGAIN to the Service Center, and then that they have no updates. We are terrified to drive this vehicle, and it is the only one we have. With these issues, we are in danger every time we leave home for our Dr. appointments and necessary trips.Read more
