While traveling on the interstate at 10:30p, 6 hours into a highway trip, the vehicle shuttered violently and lost propulsion and powered systems control. We were traveling at 75 mph on cruise control and immediately had to take evasive action to avoid other vehicles traveling at highway speed as our vehicle rapidly decelerated to a stop. We were barely able to get to the shoulder of the highway b
... efore the vehicle came to a complete stop and all dashboard lights illuminated. There was no warning or indication of immanent failure or engine issue. The catastrophic engine failure did not allow for the attempted restart. After opening the engine bay we noted that the coolant reservoir was empty but there was no indication of any leaking fluid in the engine bay or on the ground. The coolant levels were normal at the trip start. We were stranded on the side of the busy interstate for approximately 2 hours awaiting OnStar assistance and were forced to exit the vehicle due to its proximity to the edge of an active lane, leaving us exposed and without any protection for 2 hours, in the middle of the night, until assistance arrived. It was a harrowing experience and we are lucky that we were not injured or killed. The vehicle could not be disengaged from park and had to be dragged onto the flatbed. It was taken to the local GMC dealership and left for diagnosis. It was determined that the #2 piston rod broke, smashed valves and sent metal into all engine systems. Bothe the engine and coolant system were replaced. In addition, the torque converter locked up and had to be removed during servicing. All parts were retained by GM.Read more

An issue has surfaced with my car that it turns off while driving. Obviously this is a serious safety hazard and likely to result in an accident. Now that it has happened, it is continuing and frequently happening. I reached out to Subaru as I saw there was a recall for my car's make and model that is causing the same issue. The issue is listed as NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID: 19V297000, described as "The en

When I reached out to Subaru, they dismissed it saying it did not apply to my car and they were not willing to investigate. I believe this poses a grave risk to many people given that it will cause an accident and the severity of the defect.Read more

The issue first appeared during my initial test drive before purchase in 2019. The salesman stated it was a low-battery issue from the car sitting on the lot. Since then, the same problem has recurred multiple times. The vehicle displays multiple warning lights — “Electric Powertrain Fault,” Check Engine, EPS, and VSA — with reduced power, jerky acceleration, and temporary loss of throttl

Diagnostic codes retrieved include U0401-68 (ECM/Electric Powertrain Communication Failure), U0416-68 (VSA/EPS System Malfunction), and P0302 (Cylinder #2 Misfire). These faults have occurred despite replacement of spark plugs, ignition coils, and fuel injectors (all OEM Honda parts). Dealerships have not been able to permanently correct the issue. The problem appears related to the ECM or communication network between the powertrain and stability systems. The sudden loss of power and unpredictable throttle response during normal driving creates a serious safety hazard.Read more

Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Failed Recall Repair and Improper Diagnostics Charges - Jeep Recall No. 23V116 (Manual Transmission Clutch Overheating) & Violation of 49 U.S.C. Section 30120 Dear Sir or Madam, I am submitting this complaint regarding an unresolved safety defect and improper repair charges related to an official recall performed on my 2020 Jeep Wrangler (manual transmission).
... The issue concerns Recall No. 23V116 and superseding Recall 21V028, which addresses clutch overheating and associated software logic. Prior to the recall work performed, my Jeep had approximately 23,000 miles on it, and I never had any issues with the manual transmission or transmission related warning codes. In May, I received letters informing me that I needed to take my Jeep to the dealership as soon as possible to have the above recall work performed to avoid potential overheating and fire hazards related to my clutch plate. In June 2025, I brought my vehicle to Don White's Jeep dealership on York Rd. in Cockeysville, MD. The dealership replaced the clutch hardware and performed a software update as required. I did not drive the Jeep for a couple of months due to weather and frequent rainfall during June, July & August. Upon driving the Jeep in August, the "Service Transmission" light came on, and I immediately notified the dealership, and they performed a software update to fix the warning light, admitting they did not realize the software update was required the first time. Two days later, the "Service Transmission" light came on again, and I immediately notified the dealership and dropped the Jeep off to be serviced. The dealership has now had the Jeep for more than a month and has not been able to resolve the "Service Transmission" issue. They are now refusing to perform any additional work unless I pay them approx. $1,000 in diagnostics fees. I opened a case with Jeep Customer Care and they also refused coverage and are demanding payment.Read more

When driving I experienced the loss of power when trying to accelerate. My Jeep began to exhibit a loud noise and vibration which sounded like a "Jack Hammer" being used. There was a smell like something was burning, there was jerking, grinding, making clunking noises and happened each time I was making a turn or trying to accelerate. This put my safety and other drivers safety at risk because i
... t could have caused an accident especially with the loss of power. My wheels can lock up and this will cause me not be able to steer or have control over my vehicle. This can cause harm to myself and others which can include death of either party. I do have fluid that leaks from under the vehicle and the burning smell comes through the car vents. The problem has been reported to a confirmed Jeep dealership, Fred Frederick with no resolution because they are still unable to obtain the parts. I contacted them as soon as I was notified of the recall which was January 23, 2025. My AWD light does come on and off but I am uncertain of the dates. My Jeep Cherokee has the 2.4L Turbo engine. I also notice that the FCW does not operate properly as before and since this incident, I am not able to drive my vehicle due the unexpected loss of motion/power while driving and to prevent further damage.Read more

Vehicle rear locker light flashing indicating the rear locker was turned on when, leaving a retail shop, and the rear locker engaged in 2WD on its own! Any attempts to drive were met with severe jumping and jerking of the vehicle with loud metal banging noises. Tried b
... oth reverse and forward as well as putting it in 4WD and then back to 2WD to disengage the locker. Not successful. Vehicle towed to Jeep dealership. Luckily I was in a parking lot and not on the main road. If this happened on the main road at speed, I fear I may have lost control of the vehicle as it was jerking and jumping and the vehicle was uncontrollable which would have put other drivers at risk of collision and possible injury. Dealership has confirmed the issue, replaced the rear locker and sensors in the axle, and the symptoms persist for them too. They are currently looking into the electrical system and computer as the root cause. Chrysler is recommending the dealer replace the rear axle as the only means of fixing the issue. Apparently this is a growing issue that Chrysler has been aware of for several years. Vehicle is currently in the shop at the dealership for troubleshooting.Read more

While driving my 2024 Mercedes-Benz S580, I have experienced multiple serious safety issues affecting both the power train and the wheels/tires. 1.Power Train / Transmission Failure: On two separate occasions at freeway speeds, the vehicle suddenly lost all power and came to a complete stop in the middle of the lane. I could not accelerate, steer to safety, or coast to the shoulder. The car was c
... ompletely unresponsive while traffic was passing at high speed around me. I repeatedly turned the car off and back on, but it would not move for several minutes. This was extremely dangerous and created a serious risk of a rear-end collision. •The issue has been inspected and documented by Fletcher Jones Motorcars (authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer) but has not been permanently resolved. •No warning lights or messages appeared before the loss of power. •The vehicle remains available for inspection. 2.Wheels / Tires / Suspension Defect: The factory 21-inch AMG V-multispoke wheels with Pirelli MO-spec tires have experienced repeated blowouts and rapid pressure loss—approximately 6 incidents over the past 18 months of me owning this car. These occurred during normal driving and required multiple replacements at Mercedes-Benz dealerships and an independent repair shop. •The problem has been confirmed by Fletcher Jones Motorcars and Doza Garage (independent service center). •The vehicle is available for inspection. •Warning messages such as “Check Tires” and “Tire Malfunction” appeared after pressure loss was already occurring, not beforehand. •Mercedes-Benz has not identified or provided a permanent remedy. Both defects pose severe safety risks to occupants and other drivers. The transmission failures caused complete power loss in live freeway traffic, and the repeated tire malfunctions continue despite multiple replacements. The vehicle remains unsafe to operate, and all related records are available upon request.Read more

My 2018 Silverado z71crew cab LT , 5.3L engine was having issues with hold Freon in AC unit. We took to dealer to be fixed in June 2025. They added Freon and it was running good for a week then once again blew but no cold air. So took back second time 7/3/25 and they started the die test and machine went down in middle of doing it. So could not finish fixing . We took back on 07/20/25 and they com
... pleted the test needed condenser . So few days later we took to our local mechanic to have the condenser replaced and all is well with the AC unit now. Everything was fine from mid July 2025 till Oct 14 th 2025 , when it started shaking and was running rough and engine light was on so I had it checked for codes to see what it needed. Came back as bad injector. So we took to local mechanic to have injector replaced and tuneup and coils replaced . After this was completed was running much rougher then before we even had that injector and tuneup done. So mechanic suggested for him to keep it and let him dive deeper into what was wrong and why it was running rougher than before, so we let him do that.. after two days, he came back and told us that there was a crack in the engine and that is why it was running rough and that it probably was going to have an engine failure and might be and must be replaced. So I looked up my VIN number to see if there’s any recalls for my particular truck and engine size which is a 5.3 L and it doesn’t show my particular truck but it does show my year of a Silverado and the 3.6 L engine has had the same issues so I was wondering if this recall should be extended to the 5.3 L 2018 seems to be the same problem with the engine block.Read more

The idle stop system is malfunctioning. I had it inspected once previously and now trying to get it inspected again for the same occurring issue. The dealership continues to tell me to turn off the idle stop feature on the vehicle. My safety was put at risk because of the vehicle stalling and not kicking back on while being stopped at a redlight on a busy 4 lane highway multiple times now. The fir
... st time, I was by myself. The second time, my 8-month-old was in the vehicle with me. This causes a lot of panic as there are impatient drivers around me since I am unable to move my vehicle. I fear that this could happen on a freeway if there was construction, an accident or even while trying to turn in an intersection and getting hit because I can’t move my vehicle and often have my two small children with me. The first time the idle stop stalled, it occurred twice in a week. The first time was rather quick, and the engine kicked over quickly so I did not think anything more of it. The second time which happened a few days later (9/17/25), took about 5 minutes to get the engine going again and moving on the road (4 lane highway). I took it back to my local Honda dealership where they performed a diagnostic test and discovered the battery had dipped down to 7.22V when trying to restart, the battery failed the battery test and ended up being replaced with a new battery. The idle stop issue has now happened for a third time (10/21/25), with the same issues occurring and I am waiting to be able to get back into Honda. The vehicle has only been looked at by my local Honda dealership. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other notifications prior to the failure. I received a warning on the dashboard after the events occurred on how to start the vehicle. This is very disappointing as a new Honda owner. My husband and I decided on Honda over other car companies due to their reliability and this has now become a constant worry.Read more

For the past few months now my 2018 Chevy Traverse has had a weird shimmy when changing lower gears. Got it looked at and they said one of the 9 clutches are going out and needs to be replaced for a total of $6664.63. After doing my own research, this is a common problem with the 2018 Chevy Traverse after reading all the complaints on Social Media and a few Chevy enthusiasts websites. I’ve calle
... d the dealership and they refuse to help out at all with the pricing or do anything without a recall issued. If I’d had to calculate the amount of cars effected that already had work done and cars that haven’t had work done yet due to the insane cost, I’d say at least 30-40% of these vehicles have these issues right now that people know about or have already had fixed. The transmission place I sent our vehicle to said he does work on all these Chevys constantly with the same issue. I tried to call corporate and they gave me this site to go ahead and log a safety concern about this problem because it truly is a safety concern. The constant shim and rough feel when switching between lower gears makes it difficult when needing to pull out into traffic unless your lucky enough to get no traffic in your lane. I’ve also noted the start stop problem when it starts back up at a red light it sometimes has issues shifting in between 2nd, 3rd, & 4th gear like it doesn’t want to do it in that order. Feels more like it wants to skip 2nd and 3rd gear which may be fine but it definitely has a shimmy/ grinding feeling. Not sure if the transmission clutch can cause all these problems but after witnessing these issues, I’m definitely rethinking purchasing Silverado 2500’s for my family owned plumbing business. I am filing a complaint regarding a known issue with the CVT transmission in my 2014 Subaru Impreza, currently at approximately 80,000 miles. The CVT has started making a loud whining noise while driving. A licensed, independent repair shop diagnosed this as a likely early sign of internal CVT failure, advising that failure is imminent without repair or replacement. After researching the issue, I
... discovered that Subaru issued an extended warranty (WQA-86) specifically covering this known CVT defect. However, I was never notified of this extension or any service campaign. I learned about it only after experiencing symptoms and conducting my own research. By that time, the extended warranty had expired in February 2024 , only a few months before I began experiencing problems, despite my vehicle being well under the mileage limit for coverage. I maintain a service history with full documentation from licensed repair facilities. I submitted a goodwill assistance request to Subaru to cover the inspection and repair or replacement of the CVT based on this known defect and the professional assessment from my mechanic. Subaru denied the request solely because the extended warranty had expired by time, despite the fact that: I was never notified of the warranty extension or technical service bulletin (TSB). The issue is well documented and acknowledged by Subaru. My vehicle is still under the mileage limit. A qualified mechanic has confirmed early signs of failure. This is a serious safety concern, as CVT failure can lead to sudden loss of power or acceleration while driving. Subaru should be held accountable for notifying all affected owners about extended coverage related to known defects. I am requesting that Subaru be required to provide goodwill coverage or cost assistance for this repair, as the failure is directly related to a known manufacturer defect and the lack of notification prevented me from taking timely action.Read more

I was able to record a video of the dash and it is clear to see that it is shiting from 1st to 8th gear which brings the truck to a complet stop as that part of the driveway is uphill. I am concerned that if I was pulling out at an intersection and this happend I could get stuck in the intersection and hit by cross-traffic.Read more

At random the power steering and traction control turn off making it difficult to drive.. This happens randomly and has become unable to steer. Once the vehicle is turned off for a period of time you can start it up and the steering returns. The issue was reported in the 2015 models. That recall needs to extend into the 2016 models since most of the parts were most likely manufactured tot eh same
... specs as the 2015. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent repair shop. The dealership wanted $200 for just the diagnostics. Every time this happens it becomes very difficult to drive and is a safety issue. The issue first appeared 2 months ago and after the restart stopped. Then all of a sudden it seems to occur daily.Read more

Purchased a 2025 Ram 1500 Rebel X ($82k MSRP, fully loaded) in May 2025 for family use and towing horse trailers in remote areas (solo female driver). At ~8,000 miles, it has had repeated electrical failures under warranty, creating safety hazards (shift lock, stranding risks, public safety impact). No Stellantis fix; Q4 2025 software promised. Video of Oct 10 incident available. Timeline: • M
... ay 2025: Took delivery. Used for errands, remote towing. • Sept 10, 2025 (~7,500 miles): Truck non-responsive in driveway (no fob/locks/dash/start). Blocked spouse’s SWAT vehicle, delaying emergency response (public safety hazard). Towed to dealer via Stellantis Customer Care. • Sept 11-12, 2025 (Visit #1, 2 days out): ‘Dead battery’ diagnosed; replaced. Issues continued to occur. • Sept 12 - Oct 10, 2025: Electrical issues impaired use: slow Uconnect screens (distraction); stuck radio volume; ‘Illumination Alert Unavailable’ (headlight issues); settings not saving (HUD/seats); locks cycling unprompted; proximity key unreliable (stranding risk). Lost trust for towing. • Oct 10, 2025 (~7,900 miles): In remote pasture after dark, cluster went black (no gauges); engine started but transmission locked in Park (‘D’ flashing). Stranded solo female driver (no cell service; tow inaccessible—severe safety risk). Restarts failed; sat 10 min, self-resolved. Video available. Drove home cautiously. • Oct 11, 2025 - Present Oct 14, 2025 (Visit #2, 10+ days): At dealer for cluster/shift/BCM issues. Prior issues noted. No ETA; no contact since Oct 14. Base-trim loaner inadequate. Electrical faults cause no-start, shift lock, stranding—risking emergencies. SWAT vehicle blockage was a major public safety hazard. No crashes/injuries, but repeated risks for female driver. Request NHTSA investigation/recall for 2025 Ram electrical systems.Read more

The vehicle lost powertrain upon accelaration. Merging onto a freeway and accelerating my vehicle was as if it was in Neutral. Same with starting out at a stop sign, coming to a turn lane and accerlerating to cross traffic, NO POWERTRAIN... just neutral. This issue was also reported by my mechanic when I brought it in as he test drove it. He contacted the local dealership and they inspected as
... well. Both came to the same conclusion as to what the issue was. The dealership mentioned having repaired over 30 vehicles with the same issue outside of warranty. This issue is very intermittent, which makes it even more dangerous and harder to diagnose until it starts to happen more often as my vehicle put on more miles. No warning lights or messages of failure. I was almost hit broadside at an intersection and nearly rearended on the interstate at 65 mph. My life was seriously in jeopardy as I panic stricken to get power entering the interstate with my vehicle basically in neutral. I had to pull over and shift to park and then to Drive again. According the local dealership and many forums, Jeep is aware of this issue and has had NO RECALL since the majority are out of warranty by the time they are diagnosed. I am beyond frustrated at the sheer danger this has. I am lucky I didn't get hit, someone else may not be. This should have been a recall before the warranty expired. I am now out thousands of dollars on repair and looking for resolution.Read more

The contact owns a 2015 Kia Sorento. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked and shifted into park(P), the gear shifter failed to shift into the intended gear. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the gear shifter had seized in park(P). In addition, the contact stated that the failure had occurred while at the drive-thru picking up lunch. The vehicle was towed to the

While driving up hill in low gear, the vehicle suddenly will jerk, a service light will come on, and a powertrain warning will occur. When this happens, it warns that the pre-collision assist is unavailable, as well as the exhaust mode selection. Once this occurs, the vehicle becomes much more difficult to drive as the rev match no longer occurs, the vehicle no longer increases revs as you sta
... rt releasing the clutch, and when in gear it becomes more jerky as you are driving along. I don't have the experience but I suspect it is essentially in a low power mode with minimal computer aid. After being able to pull off and turn the car off for a number of minutes (not off and on as that does not resolve it), the vehicle returns to normal. This has happened twice now while driving on the same section of roadway in almost the exact same spot. I previously called the dealer after the first time and they told me if it happens again to bring it in. They did not seem interested in looking at it. I will be hopefully doing that tomorrow. I am not sure if it is related, but the vehicle did seem like it was running rich earlier in the day (a slight smell of gas when driving by).Read more
