My vehicle makes a rattling sound, especially when accelerating, and it seems to be coming from the engine compartment or front drive train. The recall (25V-437) has something to do with engine bearings. I'm afraid that the engine might shutdown, which is a possible risk cited by Nissan. The pending remedy is 4 months in the making, but still nothing as of this writing. What gives??

I dropped my car for a service appointment on October 25, 2025 because the car was running loud at highway speeds and felt as though something was grinding. I was told that the recommendation is to replace the PTU. I was unfamiliar with the term and guessed, "Power Takeoff Unit" and the service technician agreed with me. He then informed me that there was an issue with the part and it would be
... 45-days before the part would be available. He told me that other shops were contacted and there was no shop in the area that was willing to part with the PTU, and I would need to wait 45-days for the repair. I asked if it was safe to drive the vehicle until the repair and he informed me it was. He appeared to be a new team member, so I clarified again, "I just want to be clear it is safe to drive the car". He responded it was, and then said he would check with his manager. After checking with the manager, he came back and said it was okay to drive the car but it may lead to further damage. Following the call I Googled PTU and learned that there was a recall on Jeep Cherokee's, due to defective PTUs which could cause a loss of power when the vehicle is in motion - leading to a crash, prevent the driver from putting the vehicle in park, or causing the vehicle to come out of park. Given the large number of vehicles involved in the recall, 660K + it is not surprising that the part is on back-order. It is frustrating that this is a voluntary recall, and that the scope of the recall has grown from 2016/2017 to now include 2017/2019 but not yet 2020. Please consider including the cars manufactured in 2020, and changing this from a voluntary recall.Read more

My 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 is experiencing serious and unpredictable transmission behavior related to the valve body and shifting mechanism. The transmission sometimes fails to engage Park, shifts on its own without driver input or attempts to engage Reverse unexpectedly. On multiple occasions the vehicle has moved or rolled after being placed in Park and once it appeared to shift itself toward
... Reverse. This behavior is a clear safety risk as the vehicle can suddenly lose control or move unexpectedly. It happens intermittently, without any dashboard warnings and often resets temporarily after restarting the car. According to multiple owners posting on Mercedes-Benz forums (including MBWorld, BenzWorld, and Mercedes-Benz Owners Club discussions), this issue is common among GLS and other Mercedes models using the same transmission. Many owners report identical symptoms: transmission slipping into Neutral or Reverse, failure to engage Park or erratic shifting caused by a malfunctioning valve body, defective solenoids or Transmission Control Module (TCM) faults. Some have shared diagnostic codes such as P073E and P07B7 that point to reverse and park circuit errors. Mercedes technicians and independent repair specialists who have posted on these forums frequently identify the valve body assembly as the source of the issue. Common explanations include internal hydraulic pressure faults, electrical connector leaks or sensor failures inside the valve body. Owners have been quoted thousands of dollars for valve body replacements as i was billed $2300+. This problem is not isolated to my vehicle and appears to be a recurring design or manufacturing defect that affects multiple model years and platforms sharing this transmission. Because the vehicle can unexpectedly shift or fail to hold Park, it creates an immediate safety concern for both drivers and bystanders. I have video of this dangerous issueRead more

NHTSA Complaint Update : Final Submission Subject: AMENDMENT for 2015 Land Rover Range Rover Rollaway: Confirmed CAN Bus Communication Failure & Pattern Consistent with Recall 16V-368 I am submitting this update to my original complaint regarding a life-threatening rollaway incident on April 4, 2025, involving my 2015 Land Rover Range Rover (VIN: [XXX] .) New Critical Information: Diagnostic
... Confirmation: During evaluation by Jaguar Land Rover North America (JLRNA), the vehicle registered the fault code: “High Speed CAN Communication Bus Missing Message.” JLRNA’s engineer confirmed this indicates the rotary gear selector failed to communicate with the transmission, meaning the vehicle could display “Park” while remaining in gear. Prior Malfunction: Days before the rollaway, the gear selector became stuck in Reverse, requiring a battery disconnect to reset the system demonstrating a repeatable electronic instability in the shift-by-wire system. Severe Injury: The rollaway resulted in the vehicle striking and rolling over me, causing crush trauma and rhabdomyolysis with CPK levels of 10,000 U/L a near- fatal medical emergency. Safety Concern: This failure mode false Park indication due to electronic shifter communication loss is functionally identical to the defect addressed in NHTSA Recall 16V-368 (FCA, 2016), which cited rollaways, injuries and death due to rotary shifters that “do not provide clear indication of actual gear position.” Jaguar Land Rover uses a similar monostable rotary shifter design with no mechanical feedback. Given the severity of this incident and the confirmed communication fault, I urge NHTSA to investigate whether this represents a broader safety defect affecting JLR vehicles. The vehicle remains in JLRNA’s custody. I have formally requested preservation of all electronic data and components. Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. My 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe recently displayed a warning message that said “Service Transmission – May Not Be Able to Shift Soon.” The message appeared at approximately 132,754 miles. I have not yet received a confirmed diagnosis, but I’ve seen that many other 2021 Tahoe's and similar GM vehicles have experienced the same transmission problem and were included in recalls. My vehicle’s symptoms match those reports, though my VIN was not included. This situation makes me nervous because I drive with my four children daily. Even though the vehicle hasn’t completely lost the ability to shift, a sudden failure while driving could put my family and others on the road at risk. The warning itself suggests a potential failure is coming soon. The vehicle has been properly maintained and has not had prior transmission work. I’m reporting this because it appears to be part of a larger pattern that should be investigated to determine if more vehicles need to be included in GM’s existing transmission recall.Read more

While driving the engine shut off without any warning lights which could have caused a serious accident causing bodily harm or property damages as I was unaware of the issue and was going 50mph at the time - this occurred on 10/23 I noticed a ticking and brought the vehicle to the dealer for inspection on 10/20, at the time of this inspection the technician said that they could not replicate the
... sound and I explained that this was happening at 3000 RPM. The technician said that I would need to bring the vehicle back and they would need to start to take apart my engine piece by piece and I said the ticking is part of the known lifter problem and the technician shrugged his shoulders offering no other options. That same day I took my vehicle to another independent shop and he confirmed the ticking is a known issue that occurs prior to the lifter collapsing. After the vehicle shut itself off, and I was able to restart the vehicle, many warning lights appeared on my dash, there were none there before, one of the codes that was flashing was ESC and the vehicle began to lurch and downshift. I called my mechanic who said the code was to do with the electronic stability control system but I should be okay to drive until I could get to him for him to look at the codes. On 10/24 I took the vehicle to the mechanic and another code was for Cylinder 3 misfire which he stated could be the collapse of the lifter and the codes will not clear. I am reporting a recurring “Shift to Park” malfunction with my 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer. When I shift the vehicle into Park and attempt to turn it off, the dashboard displays a “Shift to Park” message, and the vehicle remains in Accessory Mode rather than shutting down completely. The vehicle continues drawing electrical power and the battery drains overnight. This condition poses sever

I understand this issue has been widely reported by owners of late-model GM vehicles, and appears related to a defective park/position switch or shifter assembly. Despite being up-to-date on recalls for this vehicle intended to address failures with the integrated charging control unit (ICCU), I still experienced an ICCU failure. I had the vehicle towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed as an ICCU failure. The vehicle was last charged ~15 hours before the failure on a level 2 charger at a peak rate of 6 kw. The vehicle was driven for about an hour after charging, sat overnight, before being driven when the failure occurred. The vehicle is primarily charged using level 1 and 2 charging, typically not exceeding 6.3 kw. Only a handful of times has level 2 charging rates exceeded 6.3 kw. While driving, I began noticing a high-pitched whining or buzzing noise when pressing the accelerator, particularly at low speeds. The sound resembles an electric or remote-control car and rises in pitch with engine RPMs. The noise disappears when I release the gas pedal. A mechanic initially suspected a wheel bearing, but after further inspection, it appears the noise is coming from the transmis
... sion or drivetrain. I later discovered that this issue is widespread among 2017–2020 Toyota Highlander models equipped with the UA80E/UA80F 8-speed automatic transmission, which has been associated with internal gear and pump whine. Toyota has issued Customer Support Program POL19-04 and Technical Service Bulletin T-SB-0008-21 addressing similar transmission whine and gear damage, but my vehicle is outside the standard 5-year/60,000-mile warranty and was not included in the extended coverage list, even though the symptoms match exactly. The problem appears to be a design or component defect within the UA80-series transmission, leading to premature wear and potential failure. This can affect drivability, safety during acceleration, and could result in transmission failure without warning.Read more

Major issue found with engine cylinder head in various models with 2.0 Liter Turbo charged engines (Engine code M260 or M264). Mercedes-Benz had improved cylinder head design to mitigate this issue, thus proving that they knew it was their product qu

While driving my 2022 Kia K5 LXS, the vehicle began shaking violently and lost acceleration. The check-engine light came on, showing code P0301 (cylinder 1 misfire). The issue caused unsafe driving conditions, especially with my child in the car. Kia Roseville incorrectly documented the repair, while Kia Folsom later confirmed the issue was engine-related. The vehicle has also been subject to fuel

On October 3, 2023, I purchased a used 2018 Subaru Forester (VIN: [XXX] ) from Hengxin Auto Group, 210 39th St, Brooklyn, NY 11232, for about $19,500 including tax and fees. The dealer stated the mileage was 65,800 and printed that number on the contract. However, both the official NY DMV Title Record and the Carfax report showed 86,588 miles at the time of sale. This clear discrepancy proves the
... dealership intentionally rolled back or misrepresented the odometer reading. Later, the title was branded “mileage unknown.” After purchase, many severe issues appeared: chassis instability, transmission jerking, loud engine noise, high oil consumption, A/C malfunction, battery failure (replaced at my own cost), and worn tires that left me stranded. The dealer had advertised the vehicle as “excellent condition, only minor scratches,” which was completely false. I repeatedly contacted the dealer, but they only made partial chassis repairs and ignored all other problems. I paid significant repair expenses and eventually had to trade in the car on April 29, 2024, at Romano Toyota for $12,530.24, while still owing $13,705.58, resulting in a direct loss of about $9,283.78, not including additional repair and transportation costs. On October 2, 2025, I sent a formal demand letter to Hengxin Auto Group requesting compensation for odometer fraud and vehicle misrepresentation. The letter was received on October 9, but no response or resolution has been offered. The dealer’s conduct involves clear odometer fraud and nondisclosure of safety-related defects. I respectfully request NHTSA to investigate this case and take appropriate action to prevent similar consumer deception and safety risks. Incident Description: On April 4, 2025, after placing the vehicle in "Park," it suddenly and rapidly began reversing without driver input. The open door struck me, knocking me to the ground and the vehicle rolled over my legs, groin and arm before stopping after colliding with a dirt pile. This resulted in severe injuries and hospitalization. The vehicle’s gear selector is the rotary dial type.
... Post incident diagnostic reports showed communication faults between the shifter assembly and transmission control. Jaguar Land Rover North America (JLRNA) currently has the vehicle under extended diagnostic evaluation but has not provided a confirmed root cause. The malfunction may relate to electronic gear-shift or transmission control failures. I am reporting this incident for federal safety review, as this defect presents a potential risk of uncommanded vehicle movement and serious bodily harm. Additional Information: The vehicle remains in JLRNA custody. Original diagnostic codes were recorded by their engineer. I have experienced significant injury and loss of use. I request NHTSA’s review and tracking of this defect for other potential affected vehicles.Read more

Was driving my truck on 55 mph road, when truck started rough shifting and becoming unresponsive to the accelerator pedal, which cause my car to quickly decelerate on the road and become hazardous to others as my brake lights were not on (since I wasn’t actually braking). Another time at a stop light, I started trying to drive, and transmission stopped responding in the middle of the intersectio
... n, barely made it through before light turned red… had a child in the car with me too. Brought truck into Ford dealership to diagnose the issue, they said it was the CDF in the transmission, and this is a known and not uncommon issue. Seems crazy that this isn’t an issue Ford is fixing on the affected vehicles if it can cause people to get stuck in intersections with no way to move out of harms way, especially if this is a relatively common issue? No warning lights or anything indicating this was a problem prior to the issue. I had actually just had my truck at the dealership for 90k mile maintenance less than 1000 miles before this happened, and Ford gave me a “green checkmark” on my transmission being good at that appointment.Read more

Good evening, My 2020 Toyota C-HR’s transmission broke down today while I was driving my kids to school. The car was last serviced on September 27, 2025, and at that time, no issues were mentioned regarding the transmission. I paid $269.19 for the service and $597.65 for the brake pad replacement. I was not expecting such a serious issue, especially with a relatively new car. The repair estima

I kindly ask that Toyota review my case for possible goodwill assistance or partial coverage, given that the car has been regularly maintained and is only slightly past the warranty limit.
