On October 11, 2025, while traveling approximately 50 mph, my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe suddenly and without warning lost motive power. The vehicle rapidly decelerated to around 10 mph. Thankfully, no vehicle was immediately behind me; had there been, a rear-end crash likely would have occurred. I was able to pull to the shoulder and had to completely shut down and restart the vehicle to temporarily
... restore power. I drove the vehicle directly to the authorized Jeep dealership after the incident, and it has remained there since that date. A recall related to this exact failure was issued afterward. My VIN is confirmed as included, and NHTSA status currently shows “Recall Incomplete — Remedy Not Yet Available.” Despite the safety failure already occurring and no remedy existing, Jeep Customer Care closed my case prematurely. I do not feel safe operating this vehicle until a repair is defined and completed. I am reporting this because the hazard remains unresolved, and owner support and protection feel inadequate. This defect occurred before the recall announcement and represents a confirmed loss-of-power safety event that could have resulted in a serious crash.Read more

On 7/22/2025 Luther Ford, When asked to drive the vehicle into the service area, the car would not go in to drive. It would not move at all. The service advisor stated we need to have the transmission taken out and taken apart to see what the issue is. He said that the transmission was needing to be replaced, and with the transmission, it is mostly because of an issue with the motor as well, but t
... his cannot be diagnosed until the transmission issue is corrected. The vehicle is still at Luther Ford in Fargo waiting on repair. Ford offered limited financial assistance for this. With myself still owing $5758.38. There have been multiple times that I have requested the dealership drive the vehicle because of the vehicle shifting hard or cutting out when stepping on the gas. On 3/3/2023 20,991 miles I had taken the vehicle in to RM Stoudt in Jamestown, ND because the car was shifting hard, and was cutting out while in low gear/speeds. I do have documentation of this. Nothing was done at this time by the dealership. 10/3/2024 46,277 miles I had the bronco into Devils Lake Cars for an issue with the CV Shaft and warranty work. I also asked them to drive the vehicle because it is STILL not driving correctly and is not shifting correctly and wanted it to be corrected before warranty was up. Nothing was done at the dealership. Before 60,000 I called Devils Lake Cars. I stated that the vehicle is still having issues. I was not going to be able to get to the dealership as I live in a remote area, until after it goes over the 5/27/25 62,354 miles I finally got an appointment and the vehicle in at Devils Lake Cars, they documented thatthey drove the vehicle and there were NO issues. I requested the next time that we are in, that we ride with the service agent so we can prove the issues we are constantly having. 7/22/25 2500 miles later, the car is no longer able to even be put into drive and this brings us to the current situation and the transmission is needing to be replacedRead more

Car started running rough then white smoke was coming out the exhaust. Took it in to have it checked out by Ford and they said it was coolant intrusion into the cylinders. My 2013 Ford Escape had safety recall 22S43 (NHTSA 22V413000) completed by a Ford dealer in January 2023. That recall was supposed to fix a defect in which the shift cable bushing can detach from the transmission, potentially allowing the transmission to remain in gear even when the shifter shows “Park.” After the recall repair, the same issue has occurred again — the bushing has disconnect
... ed from the transmission lever, creating the same roll-away risk that the recall was intended to correct. When this happens, the gear selector shows “Park,” but the vehicle can still move. Ford Motor Company Customer Service told me that because more than 12 months or 12,000 miles have passed since the recall repair, they will not cover it again. However, this is the same safety defect reoccurring after the recall remedy. It appears that the recall repair did not permanently correct the problem, and the part may still be defective or the cable end may have worn prematurely. I am submitting this report because the defect has returned after the recall was supposedly completed, and I believe other owners may also experience repeat failures that pose a roll-away safety risk.Read more

I have come to find that this vehicle suffers from premature slave cylinder failure, there are roughly 62,000 miles on the vehicle. Typical failure is reported to Ford between 70,000 and 80,000 miles. First symptoms appeared at roughly 58,000 miles. As I am a single father and a full time communications worker, I was not able to address this issue immediately upon discovering the initial symptoms
... as it would need further diagnosis. Clutch hydraulic fluids appear to be well sealed and clean. The design flaw with this system should be relatively obvious to a major automobile manufacturer such as Ford. The excessive temperatures caused by the transmission can and will affect any hydraulic systems severely. There are no avenues in which the temperatures can escape due to the bell housing of the transmission encasing the slave cylinder. In my experience as a prior automotive technician, most manual transmission automobiles place the cylinder in a more reasonable location, for example, beside the break booster in a 1991 Dodge Stealth. When observing the firewall in this location on this model of vehicle I can confidently say there is enough room to place a clutch slave cylinder in this location. The current placement appears to be for no other reason then planned obsolescence. Vehicle has stalled in traffic multiple times, cannot complete shifts due to clutch pedal sticking to floor. Inability to properly operate transmission as expected per mileage with a manual vehicle is a safety hazard. This is a safety concern due to limited ability to engage warning lights being that the shifter needs to be operated as well as the vehicle needing to be steered. Inability to depress the clutch to mechanical certainty limits the drivers ability to confidently navigate to a safe area to assess the vehicle's possible malfunctions. This limits the ability to warn other motorists on the roadways, which can cause accidents that may also cause injury/fatality depending on the speeds driven.Read more

The vehicle enters 'limp mode' without any warning indicators (dash lights or chimes) and it's not immediately clear why the vehicle does so or that the vehicle is, in fact, in limp mode. This has happened several times with the most recent case (October 18th) being extremely dangerous. I was highway driving in the Colorado mountains with limited exits available and speed limits that far exceeded
... my maximum 'limp mode' speed while traveling up hill. In addition to all the trucking traffic and hills, this created an extremely dangerous scenario. I read online that the poor design/manufacture of these Rogues caused them to be potentially prone to overheating, but that poor design shouldn't have precluded warning indicators (at the very least) and potentially a recall. The ambient temps on that Saturday were in the 40-50 degree range. Hardly highway driving conditions that you'd even guess an overheat would happen to 'highway-worthy' vehicle. I felt unsafe between the much faster traveling and accelerating traffic and had to exit the highway as soon as practical for my safety and the safety of other motorists. I have reported this to Boulder Nissan & Nissan Corporate and they speciously/dubiously told me that I need a new transmission (which effectively totals this vehicle).Read more

The vehicle intermittently loses power and displayed “Engine Malfunction/ Service Now” warnings beginning several months ago. Diagnostic code U0652 (Lost Communication with EGR System) was recorded. This failure was later confirmed by a Nissan dealer, who identified a faulty EGR valve and differential-pressure sensor, with low coolant and internal coolant loss (no external leaks). During revi
... ew with Nissan’s regional case manager, engine contamination was noted as a factor, yet this information was never disclosed to me by the dealership. The EGR valve, cooler, and sensors share coolant and exhaust pathways with the engine, meaning contamination within those circuits can block sensors and cause drivability loss or limp-mode events — exactly what occurred. Despite these findings, Nissan classified the issue as “unrelated” to Recall R25A8, which involves internal bearing debris and coolant contamination capable of circulating through those same systems. Nissan offered to cover only 50% of repair costs and refused to provide their decision in writing. Nissan’s recall inspection procedure requires removal of the oil pan and inspection for debris, which was never performed. I was provided an oil sample after diagnosis - proof that the pan was not dropped. This raises concerns that Nissan failed to follow the prescribed recall diagnostic process. Additionally, I have been forced to personally pay hundreds of dollars for a rental vehicle because Nissan stated rental reimbursement would not be provided until the repair is completed, despite the vehicle being undrivable due to the recall-related defect. I do not feel comfortable proceeding with the repair or continuing to drive the vehicle in its current condition, as the underlying recall issue has not been properly addressed or resolved. This defect poses a serious safety risk due to potential engine failure, sudden power loss, and internal coolant contamination that could lead to further mechanical damage or fire.Read more

Because it would not un‑stow, I could not select a gear and the vehicle was effectively inoperable. I pressed the shifter stow/un‑stow button multiple times, cycled the vehicle power off/on several times, and had multiple drivers attempt to operate it. The shifter remained stuck each time. This appears consistent with Ford CSP 25B09 (Gear Shift Module failure to stow/unstow) and related TSB 25‑2045 for Lightning models describing symptoms such as “shifter will not stow/unstow” or “will not shift out of gear.” After abandoning the vehicle for several hours in the not running state and then returning, I was able to unstow the shifter by pressing the button and drive away normally. I bought my 2018 Ford F-150 with the 3.5L EcoBoost, 4x4, and 10R80 transmission as a Ford Blue Certified truck from a Ford dealer at about 92,000 miles. Putting the truck into gear to pull out of the parking spot it "clunked" into drive, which I mentioned to the salesperson who was with me shrugged it off as "it's probably because it's been sitting for a while." The problems started shortly after
... purchase and have gotten way worse over the next 34,000 miles. It jerks hard shifting in and out of 3rd, 5th, and 8th gears. Oftentimes it skips 2nd and 4th gear. In 7th gear it feels like a "false neutral" where the engine revs with no power before slamming into a higher gear. The worst of the safety concerns are that on the highway in 9th or 10th gear it will suddenly downshift to 1st causing sudden deceleration and pegging the RPMs to the top end of the gauge, and when decelerating to a full stop the transmission will stay stuck in 7th gear leaving me unable to accelerate into traffic, until it decides to slam back into 1st gear after a few moments. The wrench light also comes on. This is a huge safety risk, and many other have experienced serious near-miss incidents or accidents such as rear-end collisions or losing control and their vehicle ending up off the road. I took the truck to the dealer initially and they programmed the transmission for an "adaptive drive cycle" relearn which masked the underlying issues for a little while that ended up returning much worse. Their latest diagnoses quoted me $5,071 to replace the CDF drum / clutch cylinder for the known root cause of a faulty design of the inner sleeve shifting out of place - which has since been redesigned. Ford has issued TSBs about this issue (22-2428, 23-2250). This matches NHTSA investigation PE22015 on 1.3 million F-150s for downshifts and lockups with over 138 complaints to date. We urgently need a full RECALL for this design flaw - it is endangering lives on the road and costing Ford customers.Read more

On October 23rd at approximately 0900-0915 hours I arrived at a friends house located at [XXX] . As I normally do, I pulled up into the driveway which has a pretty significant incline. I shifted the column shifter into park, and turned off the vehicle via the push button ignition switch. The parking brake/hill brake system automatically engaged as per normal operation. I exited the vehicle and be
... fore I could shut the door, the vehicle began to roll backwards. The driver's side door hit me in the right shoulder which pushed me to my left and caused me to roll my left ankle due to the down slope of the driver way. While I felt immense pain in my right ankle, I was able to jump back into the truck and slam on the brakes, causing both rear wheels to lock up and skid in the driveway. I then turned back on the vehicle, noting that the transmission position was still in park, and the parking brake/hill brake was still engaged. I had to disengage the push button parking brake/hill-brake, shift the vehicle from park into drive to move back up the driveway. This time I ensured that the vehicle did not move after following the exact same steps. My truck under went an approximately 30 minute software "upgrade" approximately 2.5 weeks ago. I believe there was an issue where the park sensor did not fully engage, leading the vehicle to believe it was still in an operational gear, however it does not explain how it was able to not only over-ride the parking/hill-brake itself, as well as allow me to shut the vehicle off and exit the vehicle. This safety hazard has caused me an injury that has already caused me to miss 48 hours of work (I am a federal firefighter) and will require more missed time should surgery be required. To whom it may concern, I am writing to express my deep frustration regarding a serious issue with my Ford vehicle. My vehicle recently displayed code P0302 – Misfire Cylinder 2, which has been diagnosed as coolant intrusion into the cylinder. The recommended repair is a replacement long block, along with new hardware and seals. This is a known issue with certain Ford engines — one that Ford
... previously covered under warranty or service campaigns prior to 2023. My vehicle has fewer than 60,000 miles, yet it has suffered a major engine failure clearly tied to a manufacturing defect. Ford and even U.S. government agencies are aware of this widespread issue. Unfortunately, Ford is now refusing to take responsibility for a defect they have long known about. It’s extremely disappointing to see such disregard for loyal customers. This experience has completely eroded my trust in Ford. It’s clear why so many Americans are turning to foreign manufacturers — companies that take accountability and fix known problems instead of ignoring them. I will never purchase a Ford again, and I will be sharing my experience so that others are aware of how these issues are being handled.Read more

The transmission failed at 116000 miles. Initially it was due to low oil level, never checked at the dealership in all the services I've had done. I added a quart to bring up to the property level. Had the fluid and filter changed the next day, and techs didn't say anything about what they found during the test drive they did. Ford then went straight to me needing a new transmission at $11000 fo
... r parts and labor. An independent technician that is Ford certified also looked at the vehicle and transmission and confirmed it's most likely the CDF clutch cylinder and the "Trashcan" as it's called. These are both known issues and it's why Ford updated the design after several failures at low miles. The independent mechanic quoted me at $7,000 for parts and labor and it's the same updated transmission.Read more

We have had the vehicle inspected by 2 different mechanics, both confirming our PTU is failing. My wife and I have a toddler and this is our only vehicle; while we’re driving the vehicle to and from work, and going to get groceries sometimes the car will start flashing “ESC off” and will stop while we’re driving. Almost like the car has slammed on its breaks. This has happened while we’r
... e going 10mph and happened going 40mph. Of course this puts not only us as risk of serious harm or death, but the other drivers on the road if our car decides to slam on its breaks and someone hits since this happens out of nowhere. Again, this issue has been confirmed my two separate independent service centers and two separate dates. The vehicle has not been inspected by manufacturer, insurance representatives, or police except for the two separate mechanics we took our vehicle to. 1 week before this issue began the ESC off button started flashing which we immediately took it to the repair shop a few days later and was diagnosed with a failing PTU. This car is incredibly dangerous to drive and each time we drive it — it feels like a death sentence.Read more

Vehicle Information Make: GMC Model: Yukon XL Denali Year: 2021 VIN: [XXX] 1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The engine failed due to defective lifters and camshaft components, along with excessive oil consumption. These issues rendered the vehicle inoperable and required over $10,000 in repairs. The failed components are avail
... able for inspection upon request. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The engine failure occurred while the vehicle was in motion, creating a dangerous situation for my family and other drivers. Sudden loss of engine power could have led to a collision or left us stranded in unsafe conditions. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. The issue was diagnosed and confirmed by DeFouw GMC in Lafayette, Indiana. GMC has acknowledged the defect and agreed to cover all but $2,000 of the repair costs. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The vehicle has been inspected by DeFouw GMC. GMC is aware of the issue under Case #[XXX]. No inspections have been conducted by police or insurance representatives. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No, it all happened at once. The vehicle was extremely well cared for, and GM has all of the oil change records. Additional Comments: We have been without our family vehicle since [XXX], and GMC has not provided an estimated arrival date for the replacement engine. We are now entering month four without a vehicle, which has severely impacted our family’s mobility and safety. This delay is unacceptable and reflects poorly on GMC’s commitment to customer safety and service. Has also cost us over $10,000 out of pocket, which I will seek reimbursement for legally, if I must. My car does have a similar transmission as the one that was recall in Siannas, and Camrys. I have experience the same serious transmission issues—including high-pitched whining, erratic shifting, clunks, hesitation, and premature failure. These vehicles are equipped with the UA80F (AWD) and UA80E (FWD) 8-speed automatic transmissions.

The vehicle has ~51K miles. It has been maintained according to the manufacturer's recommended repair schedule. At low speeds (<10 mph) or when coming from a full stop the vehicle hard shifts. When driving up inclines at low speeds (<10 mph), the vehicle shakes and stutters on the verge of shutting off. This happened twice on [XXX].
