My 2020 Chevy Silverado needs a torque converter replacement. My truck is at 90k miles and out of drivetrain warranty. Truck was purchased Aug 2024 During first few months, I felt a shudder/vibration when either holding speed and/or slightly accelerating between 30-45 mph, usually at 1100-1300 RPM. Current Odometer 33,995 In the last month the truck has began to vibrate worse. I have a "Rumblestrip" feeling when at the same speeds. More noticeable on surface roads when following behind traffic at 30-45 mph. Gene
... rally the shudder is felt at approx. 1100-1300 RPM. Took the truck to the dealer yesterday, and they performed a quick roadtest. Service Tech was able to feel the rumble strip shudder multiple times, however their diagnostic tool only indicated a TCC Slip 2 times during a 20 min drive. The shudder/vibration happens when in "D". It is not present in "L9", or in "Tow Mode". The shudder feels worse in 4WD. If the shudder/vibration is happening, I am able to hold the speed and RPM at the current spot, the sensation is continuous and does not go away unless I accelerate or decelerate. I tend to feel it more when on an incline, and decelerating. As or right now the data has been sent to GM for diagnostic viewing. The safety hazard began with a pattern of ignored warnings by the authorized dealer network. On Aug 15, 2025, I brought the vehicle to Luther Kia of Bloomington for a Check Engine Light. The dealer simply cleared the code without diagnosis, failing to catch early signs of engine trouble. On Sept 22, 2025, the engine failed again. I drove the vehicle in unsafe "limp mode" to Luther Nissan Kia [XX
... X] ). They found the engine was "4 quarts low on oil" (severe starvation just 37 days after a dealer oil change). Despite this catastrophic finding, they failed to diagnose the root cause and released the unsafe vehicle to me after selling only a spark plug replacement. On Sept 26, when I attempted to pick up the vehicle, the Check Engine Light was flashing immediately at handover. I refused to take the unsafe vehicle. The dealer then replaced an Oil Control Valve (OCV) and released the vehicle to me again later that day. After this second "repair," I drove the vehicle for only a few miles before the engine failed again with a Check Engine Light. The dealer has since admitted in writing (BBB complaint #XXX) that the engine was "deprived of lubrication" due to the initial low oil condition. By ignoring early warnings and releasing a vehicle with a dying engine twice, the dealer put me and other motorists at risk of a sudden loss of power at highway speeds. I am submitting this complaint regarding Safety Recall 34J6, which is listed as INCOMPLETE for my 2013 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid. I brought my vehicle to Volkswagen of Murfreesboro, Tennessee to have this recall performed. The dealership refused to complete the repair, claiming it was “too old” — a statement that is factually and legally incorrect. Federal law and NHTSA regulations require ma
... nufacturers and their dealerships to repair open safety recalls at no cost, with no expiration. The dealership’s refusal is a direct violation of these requirements and represents a serious safety risk to me and potentially to other drivers. I have already contacted Volkswagen Customer CARE, but the dealership has refused to perform the recall despite clear evidence that it remains open. Their inaction demonstrates noncompliance with federal safety regulations and unlawful denial of a mandated repair. I request that NHTSA investigate Volkswagen of Murfreesboro for refusal to perform a federally required recall, ensure that my vehicle receives the required repair immediately, and take appropriate enforcement action to prevent further violations. This behavior is unacceptable and poses a significant public safety risk.Read more

While driving my 2019 Jeep Cherokee, the engine randomly shuts off without warning. This has happened multiple times at different speeds. The specific component causing the failure is unknown, but it seems related to the electrical

I had a diagnostic scan done at AutoZone and no trouble codes were found. There were no symptoms or warning lamps prior to each incident ,the engine simply shuts off while the vehicle is in motion. The main water pump on my 2018 Porsche Panamera 4S failed prematurely. This is not a simple external coolant leak; the internal seal failed, allowing pressurized engine coolant to migrate into the vehicle's vacuum system. The coolant traveled through the vacuum lines and contaminated the vacuum solenoids and change-over valves. This failure mode presents a significant safety hazard because the va
... cuum system controls critical engine components, including turbocharger wastegates and exhaust flaps. Contamination of these components can lead to sudden loss of power, "limp mode" activation while driving at highway speeds, or unexpected engine behavior, increasing the risk of a crash. Cross-Reference to Known Defects: This vehicle utilizes the EA839 V6 engine platform, which is shared with Volkswagen and Audi vehicles (specifically the Audi S4, S5, SQ5, and Q7). Audi and Volkswagen have already acknowledged this specific manufacturing defect in the class action settlement Fiscina v. Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Case No. 2:21-cv-11251). Under that settlement, Audi extended the warranty on this water pump to 10 years/80,000+ miles for the exact same failure mode (coolant migration into the vacuum system). Despite my vehicle using the same engine and suffering the exact same mechanical failure, Porsche refuses to offer coverage or acknowledge the defect. I am requesting an investigation into why Porsche models equipped with the defective EA839 engine are excluded from the safety remedies and warranty extensions provided to Audi owners.Read more

2019 Ford Expedition Max with the 10R80 transmission experienced severe shifting issues shortly after PCM recall 24E13 was performed. My vehicle experienced a sudden and immediate loss of motive power due to a catastrophic internal engine failure, creating a severe road safety hazard. This unexpected loss of drive power made the vehicle unpredictable and unsafe to operate und

The dealer has confirmed and documented the following internal mechanical defects at only 86,000 miles: Compression loss in cylinder #2. Cylinder wall scoring and pitting. Evidence of blow-by and heavy carbon buildup in the combustion chamber. Misfire and rough idle. Oil consumption as a result of the cylinder failure. This failure is a premature mechanical defect, not normal wear. Failures of this nature (sudden loss of motive power due to internal engine defect) have been cited by NHTSA in other recalls and are known to increase the risk of a crash or fire. Since owning the vehicle, I have experienced a noticeable shutter/vibration at highway speeds, consistently between 70–75 mph, whether towing or not. The shutter feels like it is coming from the transmission or driveline, and it occurs on multiple road types and conditions. I reported this issue to Wilsonvi
... lle Chevrolet, but they told me they “could not duplicate” the problem and offered no repair. I then took the truck to Power Chevrolet in Corvallis, who stated the tires were out of balance and replaced them. This did not resolve the issue, and the shutter at highway speed remains exactly the same. I also contacted GM directly, but was redirected back to the dealership, resulting in no progress. At this point the issue has been reported multiple times, yet no root cause or repair has been provided. I am essentially being sent in circles without a solution. There appears to be a growing history of transmission-related issues with newer Chevrolet HD trucks equipped with the Allison 10-speed transmission, and this symptom seems consistent with those reports. A shutter at sustained highway speeds raises a significant safety concern, as a transmission failure at 70+ mph could lead to loss of control or power. In addition to the shutter, I have repeatedly noticed a strong “burning brake pad” smell coming from the rear of the truck. This happens randomly and has also been reported to the dealership, but no cause has been identified. I am unsure whether this is related to the transmission issue, but combined, these symptoms suggest a potential mechanical defect. Given the safety implications and the lack of resolution from authorized dealerships, I am requesting NHTSA’s assistance in investigating this issue.Read more
