I own a 2019 Hyundai Elantra Value Edition . 2.0L 1999CC L4. A few weeks ago we started with really cold/snowy weather and as I’m driving I’ve noticed weird knocking sound that sounds like a Ford F250 starting up. Today while stopped in traffic with the vehicle idling, the 2019 Hyundai Elantra cut off into the battery mode as if I just have my car running off of my battery (ex: roll windows u
... p) and all of the lights on the dash board on. I put my car on the break to turn my car off and it went back into drive mode, it didn’t shut off. I tried accelerating my car went no where, within a few minutes it did it multiple times. I called the local dealer and was informed that there were no recalls associated with the VIN. I let Hyundai Webb aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 197,000.Read more

After years of driving like a grandma, my transmission unexpectedly failed while travelling down the freeway at 70mph. There were no warning signs, no vibrations, and I changed my transmission fluid at the dealer-recommended intervals. Huge bummer, really. I use my truck for work, and because of the time of year, it is unlikely that I'll be able to get it repaired for a few weeks. Certainly not go

While driving ~70mph on I-80 in central Wyoming, my truck suddenly and unexpectedly downshifted to a low gear, causing RPMs to spike to 8000+ and making me swerve and nearly go off the road. No warning lights or cautions appeared. I pulled over, turned off the ignition, and checked my engine compartment to see if I could find any issues but everything appeared normal. I resumed driving and everyth
... ing felt normal. Approximately 100 miles later a check engine light appeared. No other cautions or messages appeared. My transmission and engine oil temperature gauges showed readings in the middle of the normal range. I was 10 miles from the nearest town and immediately stopped at a mechanic shop to diagnose the issue. After several days trying to diagnose the issue, they told me that my transmission had severely overheated, was near failure, and needed to be replaced. I had a regular transmission service less than 12 months prior at a Ford dealership and no issues were noted. I am writing this because I am aware of many other F-150 owners experiencing similar problems and I believe Ford needs to address this clearly systemic issue with the 10R80 transmission.Read more

The incident occurred while traveling at 75 mph on the interstate. The car felt like it tried to put itself in park and slammed forward violently, at that time it came up with a shift fault light on the display, it shifted to neutral so there was no movement of the vehicle it was free wheeling, then it slammed itself back in a low gear where the vehicle slammed hard and the car engine was redlined
... . The transmission then proceeded to shift back up into a higher gear. All this while traveling at 75 mph. My concern, if one of my kids were driving it, or the road conditions would have been wet or snowy we would of had a very different outcome. The vehicle was sent to a Ford dealer where they found a park shift failure and shift issues recommending a new transmission. Ford was not willing to warranty the transmission even with the issues experienced and forced me to pay 60 percent of the cost. I find this hard to believe since a family could've been severely injured or killed. Previous to this incident, there were no warnings, lights, or concerns, the issue came out of the blue.Read more

I moved my Genesis GV-70 to my home in Reno, NV. My complaint is in regard to my car becoming very dangerous! I'm giving you my move to Reno because its relevant to this complaint. I didn't need quick acceleration while I was living in Florida. In Reno, I have to merge onto Route 80 everywhere that I go. Acceleration during a merger is extremely important here in Reno. So what I've experienc
... ed in Reno is a VERY DANGEROUS situation with my Genesis. My GV-70 stops accelerating around 40MPH, or roughly 5,000 RPM. The transmission stalls out and the car revs at 5000 but does not respond. I've almost been rear ended by tractor trailers and other vehicles because of this dangerous situation. I have since found out that my recall for a ECM Software Update-P030X Misfire problem is the acceleration issue that I've described. Here is my complaint: My car should not be allowed to be driven in this current condition. Genesis has understated the severity of this issue dramatically and certainly the language in their recall letter didn't reference not being able to accelerate past 40 MPH/5,000 RPM. I didn't experience this issue while driving mostly local roads in Fort Myers Florida, but here in Reno, this car and it's condition is DANGEROUS! It has caused near misses with very catastrophic consequences. I am driving my car to Rocklin California (2 hours away) next week for service which includes the Misfire problem as well as other service issues. The Misfire recall should taken my car off the road, Genesis did not address the severity and dangerous possibilities of this issue.Read more

I was driving on a busy street with a speed limit of around 45 mph and my torque converter failed causing my transmission to fail and my truck to become disabled in the middle of a busy road. It blocked traffic causing a potential danger to surrounding motorists and required assistance to be moved to a nearby parkin lot and later to be towed to the Chevrolet Dealership. The dealership confirmed t
... hat the transmission had failed. I subsequently took it to a specialist transmission shop that dismantled it an indicated that the torque converter had failed (a known problem with this year and model transmission) and that the failure had led to catastrophic damage to the transmission. There were no warning signs other than a couple of hard shifts just prior to failure. I was lucky that this occurred on a dry level street and not on a narrow mountain pass while pulling a trailer where the results could have been much different.Read more

When driving at higher speeds (60-70mph) and needing to pass another vehicle the clutch slips which triggers the accelerator to shut down. Leaving you helpless in the passing lane. All you can do is hope there is space to safely pull off the road and shut the engine off. This puts it in limp mode.

After extensive research, this seems to be a very widespread issue spanning across many years of production. I am experiencing a very sharp/sudden jerk or lurch when accelerating at slower speeds. It has almost caused an accident I would have been claimed at fau

My 2019 Toyota Camry experienced a progressive transmission failure that created a safety concern. The issue began with intermittent loss of shifting on cold starts, where the vehicle became stuck in 3rd gear. Engine RPM would increase but the vehicle would not accelerate normally. Shifting into Park and back into Drive would temporarily restore operation. Over time, the condition worsened and the
... transmission became stuck in a higher gear (5th gear) and would no longer reset, even after parking and restarting the vehicle. Manual shift mode did not function. This caused delayed acceleration and unsafe driving conditions in traffic. A Toyota dealership diagnosed the vehicle and reported internal transmission failure, including pressure control solenoid faults and metal found in the transmission fluid, and recommended full transmission replacement. There were no warning lights when the issue first occurred, and the failure progressed over time. I believe this represents a potential safety-related defect in transmission durability.Read more

In early October 2025, the vehicle was taken to an independent dealership service department for a routine oil change. Several weeks later, the vehicle appeared to be leaking fluid and began experiencing loud knocking/clacking noises, significant vibration, and drivability concerns, especially during acceleration. On October 10, 2025, while parked at a family member’s residence, the vehicle wou
... ld not start. Due to safety concerns, the servicing dealership arranged for the vehicle to be towed for inspection. Technicians found a split transmission hose causing transmission fluid loss, which was repaired; however, the abnormal noises, vibration, and drivability issues persisted. Further inspection identified loud popping/clacking noises from the bell housing area. The technician physically inspected the flex plate and documented that the flex plate was cracked. The dealership advised that a cracked flex plate can worsen, cause severe vibration, damage related components, and lead to drivability issues or potential loss of propulsion. Because of the nature of the failure and symptoms, the vehicle was removed from regular use due to safety concerns. The vehicle was later taken to a manufacturer-authorized Ford dealership, which confirmed flex plate failure but stated the vehicle did not qualify for a customer satisfaction program due to engine variant. A goodwill/financial assistance request was submitted and denied. Technician diagnostic documentation from the manufacturer-authorized dealership was requested but not provided prior to filing this complaint. No crash or injury occurred; however, the failure created a risk of sudden inability to propel the vehicle while driving, including at highway speeds. The vehicle remains unrepaired and parked due to cost and safety concerns.Read more

Reporting a failure of the engine cooling system on my 2019 BMW X3 that developed over time despite repeated repair attempts and ultimately resulted in complete engine failure. These issues occurred during normal driving and created unsafe conditions, including the risk of sudden loss of power or breakdown in traffic.
