I am writing to formally report a serious and ongoing concern regarding the condition and safety of my Nissan vehicle. On 08 January 2026, during a routine oil change, the technician discovered a turbocharger leak after removing the plastic plate covering the oil pan. I immediately notified my local Nissan dealership and scheduled an inspection for 12 January 2026. This issue is especially alarmi
... ng given the vehicle’s history. My car is less than five years old with only 30,500 miles, yet it has already undergone a complete engine replacement (2024) due to the first recall for engine bearing failure. Additionally, a second engine-related recall was issued on 12 December 2025. Now, with the discovery of a turbo leak, it is evident that the vehicle continues to exhibit significant defects. Based on these repeated and severe powertrain failures, I believe Nissan sold me a defective vehicle that remains in a defective and unreliable condition. I am requesting immediate attention, a thorough investigation, and an appropriate resolution to ensure my safety and restore confidence in the vehicle.Read more

I had been driving my 2022 Toyota Highlander XLE with 46k miles that I just got for about two weeks, so about 10 days out of the 14 i actually drove it from home to work and back home. Within those 10 days driving the SUV, 8 mornings and one afternoon the highlander engine had issues accelerating and shifting gears. Basically when pulling out on to a highway from a side street coming down a hill w
... hen pressing the gas to enter the highway and flow of traffic the engine stuttered from zero to 20mph causing the entire SUV to jerk repeatedly and the gears would have issues shifting from first to second. I had to let my foot off the gas pedal then press again repeatedly as the SUV kept jerking trying to accelerate forward stuck no more than 20 mph for 30 seconds then started to even out and climb up after a minute. I have caught this on video twice. This has caused me to hold up traffic on the highway behind me with no where to pull off because my particular side street comes out from a gulch cliff side. No check engine lights came on each time. I took it to an auto shop that did a minor test drive and suggested it go directly to Servco Toyota as it should have powertrain warranty on it still and they believed it was a fuel pump issue. The issue did not happen with this auto shop but I showed them the video. I scheduled an appt at Toyota and it is with them now. They did 2 test drive but could not replicate the issue and could not see any codes coming up. I opted to leave the vehicle with them to do more test drives where the issue has happened as I do not feel safe driving it and the manager also said they did not feel safe having their techs drive it so the manager will do it. Without check engine light/code they are saying they cannot check the fuel pump or do anything else but will try to do more test drives to replicate the issue. I have seen numerous Reddit, facebook group posts, and a petition about this same issue but no official recall or word from Toyota.Read more

The owner reports that at slow, consistent speeds [approx. 1–10 mph] on an incline, including steep paved city roads and well-maintained alpine roads, the transmission/EV temperature increases quickly. Under similar low-speed inclines where speed fluctuates [approx. 1–25 mph], temperatures rise rapidly and result in overheating. This occurs both on-road and off-road. Once the transmission exc
... eeds normal operating temperatures, reverse, 1st & 2nd gears exhibit abnormally harsh engagement, often with an audible thud and a physical impact felt by the driver and passengers. Multiple diagnostic attempts have been made at the dealership level. The only confirmed finding was elevated transmission temperatures. Because the transmission has not fully failed, no diagnostic fault codes are stored and no warnings have been logged by the vehicle, including the overheating transmission alert, no repair or corrective action has been offered. The only recommendation has been to operate the transmission manually and use 4L during slow-speed driving. Attempts were also made at the corporate level, which resulted only in redirection back to the dealership with the same workaround having been advised. When the owner asked whether 4L should be used during stop-go traffic on an incline while on a freeway, a Toyota representative confirmed that it should. This guidance is considered misinformation, as it contradicts Toyota’s 4WD user manual and could result in catastrophic engine and transmission damage. The owner has remained in communication with the dealership; however, no meaningful efforts have been made to resolve the issue. As Toyota has stated there is no available fix, the owner has been advised to pursue arbitration.Read more

Summary of Safety Defect: While my 16 year old daughter was driving our 2014 Kia Soul in December 2025, the car suddenly lost power in traffic and would not go over 20 mph; the check engine light came on and the vehicle entered limp mode. The sudden drop in power created a high anxiety, hazardous situation for my daughter, who had only had her license for a week, during rush hour traffic. The vehi
... cle was unsafe to operate and had to be towed. Details of the Incident: Diagnostic trouble code P1326 (Knock Sensor Detection System) was confirmed by the Kia dealership. P1326 is part of Kia’s known engine defect population and is tied to safety related engine failures. The dealership documented oil consumption, oil fouled spark plugs, and compression readings below Kia’s minimum specification on all cylinders. The dealership concluded in writing that engine replacement is required. Despite this, Kia denied warranty coverage based solely on a bearing clearance test, without completing the full diagnostic process required under the KSDS settlement. The vehicle remains unsafe and inoperable. Why This Is a Safety Issue: The sudden loss of power and inability to accelerate above ~20 mph created a dangerous situation for my daughter and surrounding traffic. This is a known defect pattern in Kia vehicles covered under the KSDS program. The failure occurred without warning and could have resulted in a collision. Requested Action: I am reporting this because Kia has not responded to my two complaints nor properly addressed a safety related engine defect that is already part of a national settlement. The incomplete diagnostic process and denial of coverage leave the vehicle unsafe and unusable. I request that NHTSA review this incident as part of the ongoing safety concerns involving Kia GDI engines and P1326 related failures.Read more

Vehicle Information: Year: 2021 Make: Mercedes-Benz Model: GLC 300 Engine: M264 Mileage at time of failure: Approximately 65,000 miles Complaint Description: While driving, my 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 began experiencing repeated engine misfires and rough running, accompanied by a persistent check engine light. These symptoms began shortly after I purchased the vehicle and progressively worsene
... d over time. The vehicle exhibited reduced engine performance and hesitation while driving. The condition was intermittent at first but became more frequent, indicating a progressive mechanical issue rather than a sudden failure. At approximately 65,000 miles, the vehicle was evaluated by an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership and diagnosed with a catastrophic cylinder head failure, requiring full cylinder head replacement. The estimated repair cost is approximately $8,000. The vehicle has never been modified and has not undergone prior engine repairs. The failure occurred well before what would be considered normal wear for an engine component of this type. Based on the progression of symptoms, the dealer diagnosis, and similar reports from other owners of the same model and engine, this appears to be a systemic defect involving the cylinder head and valve train, rather than an isolated incident or maintenance-related issue. This condition presents a potential safety concern due to loss of engine performance, drivability issues, and the risk of reduced power while operating the vehicle.Read more

I am the original owner of this vehicle and the engine and controls have not been modified in any way. Yesterday while driving at approximately 30 mph on a surface street with dry road conditions in the “2H” setting on the Drive Modes Selection Dial my truck spontaneously shifted into four-wheel drive high and then attempted to switch into four-wheel-drive low – “Rock Crawl Mode.” The
... rear differential locked, speed was suddenly reduced, and the steering became more difficult. Luckily, I was able to safely pull over. I captured a video at this time documenting the control settings and display image. It took multiple attempts, even in Park and Neutral, to get out of 4WD and back into the 2H setting. Once back in 2H, the truck drove normally. I have had similar experiences at least twice before in this truck with months between them. In those cases, I wondered if I had accidentally bumped the dial control. I am certain that this was not the case yesterday, so this was a spontaneous event initiated by the truck’s computer and/or mechanical controls. I consider this to be a very serious safety hazard, as it dramatically and unexpectedly affected the speed and handling of my truck. I did some online searching today and found that multiple other Ranger Raptor owners have experienced this issue, suggesting that this may be a serious design flaw affecting multiple vehicles. All my service is done by the dealership, and I have never been given any indication that there was something wrong. However,After this happened, I have been researching and found that many of these vehicles with this transmission continue to have this problem. This is not normal wear and tear or normal mechanical failure. I have owned many vehicles and never felt as unsafe as I did in that moment, or had a vehicles transmission fail so abruptly. For me, and the research I have done, I can only hypothesize the materials and engineering involved with this transmission are inherently inferior, completely faulty, and a safety risk/hazard to anyone who owns or operates the vehicle. I consider myself lucky to walk away unscathed, other than the economic price that it is going to incur on my finances for repairs.I would hope that it doesn’t take something serious to happen before someone takes action and conducts a recall of this product. Hello - On [XXX], while travelling to visit family for the Christmas Holiday, a warning about a transmission system error came on. We contacted the dealership and dropped it off immediately on Monday morning only to find out that the transmission needed to be completely replaced. We obtained a second opinion with a local transmission shop who then proceeded to tell us that this was a known issue with this year of Honda Transmissions and that there are some well documented issues with this particular transmission and that this was unfortunately not the first case they had seen. We purchased our 2019 Honda Odyssey from O'Daniel Honda in Omaha, Nebraska through the Costco Auto Program in August 2019. We have regularly maintenance done on this vehicle as recommended at another local dealership closer to our home. At present time, my [XXX] Honda Odyssey with barely 100,000 miles on it now sits in a transmission shop awaiting a full transmission replacement. We bought this vehicle in the security and knowledge that it would be a solid, reliable vehicle for our growing family at the time with the reputation for exceeding 250,000 miles when properly maintained. For this transmission issue to be so well documented and known and for Honda to completely turn a blind eye to this and not stand behind their workmanship is absolutely appalling. We bought this truck new. When accelerating in “normal” transmission, mode, it would downshift and the turbos would kick in at the same time giving an unwanted surge of power. I found that driving in “sports” mode would give me more normal acceleration. Another issue I had as it got older was getting a big clank from the transmission when putting it in gear, especially in the morning when
... cold. I described it as hitting an anvil with a hammer. I took it to our local Ford dealer in Carthage, Missouri in early January 2025. The Service Rep said this was normal and I should let the truck warm up before shifting into gear. I told him I parked in the garage and that was not possible. He did not schedule an appointment to check it. About two weeks later on February 5, 2025 with 57,796 miles I returned to the dealer and insisted they check it before the warranty expired. They found nothing wrong. On the weekend from [XXX], I drove approximately 700 miles. During this weekend when accelerating to pass cars at highway speeds the truck would lose complete power like the transmission had shifted into neutral. This happened at least three times. I took the truck back to the Ford dealership on August 7, 2025 with mileage of 66,683. They said the transmission needed replaced. My cost was $9914.95. Vehicle has 54,250 miles. Vehicle has a rear differential bearing going out by hearing and feeling the grinding at all speeds and the transmission jerks shafting gears. Both could cause an accident if totally fail. Chevrolet has a service bulletin out from what my local garage says. Mechanic also says Chevrolet will not warranty the product. Vehicle is now being looked at by a Chevrolet dea
... ler. The vehicle is OUT OF WARRANTY. My son, who is [XXX] and not familiar with vehicles thought it was the tires causing the whining and vibration. Took the vehicle in several times to Chevy and they ignored the issue. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

GM has redesigned the gear shift of the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox to be placed on the steering wheel. That's fine except engineers put it in the exact spot of where the windshield wiper lever traditionally is AND made it look and act and move like a windshield wiper lever, which instinctively means you as a driver will hit that gear shift when it starts raining or when you want to trigger windshield
... wiper fluid. Doing so, as we experienced twice (once on a highway exit and another time on a major road) will cause the car to go into neutral since pulling the lever toward you (a movement that used to trigger fluid on the windshield) triggers the car to go into neutral. When you're driving on a major road, this is dangerous, slows the car, forces you to have to figure out how to get it back into drive and there's no obvious workaround for that. You can't come to a complete stop on a highway or a major busy road when in neutral and the car doesn't have easy/instinctive ways to send it back into drive. Numerous drivers have complained of this on Reddit and Facebook and presumably to GM. I sent a complaint to GM today. This is the first time in 40 years of car ownership that I've felt nervous driving a car because I'm worried I will cause a wreck because of poor design. There needs to be a workaround or alert to to this. Very dangerous.Read more

Car is making a clunking/whirring noise that speeds up with acceleration and slows with deceleration. Also beginning to have a vibration. No warning lights on the dashboard. Dealer states an entire new transmission is needed, more than $11,000. This is a large financial burden. I see reports online that there is a known issue with the CVT transmissions in C-HRs causing failure, and Toyota Canada
... has extended warranties to cover the problem. Toyota USA has not yet. As this is a known problem with this part, please initiate a recall or encourage a warranty extension, something to address this so that transmissions are not failing on the road - most owners do not have this amount of money to cover a sudden, expensive repair/replacement like this.Read more

Recently out 2020 Nissan Versa started "Shuddering" when accelerating at low speeds. I took it to the Nissan Dealership and they quoted me $7,000 saying the transmission had to be replaced. I conducted online reviews and found Nissan customers experience this same issue in concerning numbers. I found multiple Nissan Technical Bulletins about this very issue, with this vehicle. Not only is it conce
