Vehicle was started for the second time that day on 1/5/26 and the engine light was on. I drove the vehicle to an auto parts store to have them check it with an OBD-II scanner. It had code P050F. I had no idea how serious this issue could be at the time. I made an appt with the GMC dealership and dropped it off the evening of 1/6/26. They said there was a software anomaly in the engine control mod
... ule and needed to be reprogrammed. I paid the $200 diagnostic fee for them to reprogram it. I learned that this anomaly could have caused my brakes to not work while driving it. I had been driving the vehicle back and forth to work until I dropped it off. This issue could have caused serious harm or death to myself and others. While researching online, I've seen that other vehicles have had safety recalls and additional warranties added for these issues, but my vehicle isn't included in this.Read more

The vehicle experienced a sudden internal transmission failure (power train). While driving, the vehicle began making grinding noises during acceleration and lost propulsion. The vehicle then displayed multiple warning indicators, including a transmission warning and a blinking electric parking brake indicator. After stopping, the vehicle would not engage Drive and became inoperable, requiring tow
... ing. The transmission remains available for inspection at the dealership. This failure created a safety risk due to loss of propulsion and inability to move the vehicle under its own power, including the risk of being stranded in traffic or unable to safely clear a roadway. The problem was confirmed by an authorized Honda dealership, which diagnosed an internal transmission failure and recommended full transmission replacement. No prior transmission repairs had been performed by outside shops. The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized Honda dealership. The manufacturer has not physically inspected the vehicle beyond dealership diagnosis. Warning symptoms included intermittent grinding during acceleration and loss of power shortly before complete failure. Warning messages and indicators appeared at the time of failure.Read more

On October 31, 2020 (before our purchase of the van) the previous owner had to take the van to Chrysler for hesitation in the transmission shifting. On June 14, 2021 (only two weeks after purchase), we had to drop it off for intermittent shifting issues with what seemed like skipped gears. No engine light came on, and the van was returned stating an inability to reproduce the issue. On Februa
... ry 7, 2022 we brought the van to Chrysler after taking it in a few times to Carmax to resolve the the disabled "Start/ Stop" System. The light would intermittently come on indicating the system was unavailable, and shifting would be erratic. An inspection and recall work for the PCM was performed. In June of 2023, the UConnect System stopped working intermittently. The gears were still shifting roughly with the shift knob becoming increasingly more difficult to turn. An independent shop found no solution with an unknown timeframe on the delivery of a new transmission. In June of 2023 while driving, the van shut off completely while in motion. After a few minutes, it started up again and drove as if nothing was wrong. June 24, 2023, we took the van to Chrysler with the same issues. At the time there was still a back order of transmissions for the van. Upon contacting Chrysler, we found out that there was a recall effective on the new transmission and the company rush ordered the part to the shop. As well, the Uconnect system was also addressed. The issue was fixed. After a few years of reliable service, the van functioned normally with rough shifting and start/stop system failures still an issue. In January of 2024, the van would not start at first try. Often my wife was able to get it started after sitting for awhile. In other cases, changing the key fob helped. Changing the AUX battery repaired the issue temporarily. Now it won't start at all. The starter was misdiagnosed by an independent shop with Chrysler finding a failed transmission once again.Read more

My first incident with my 2019 Ford Escape happened when I had my [XXX] in the vehicle with me at a stop sign In November of 2024. As I proceeded to enter the intersection, the vehicle would not accelerate. I was able to reverse enough to get out of the intersection, but was still on the roadway, which is a safety hazard. While I waited for help, I was having to direct traffic around my vehicle, a
... nother safety hazard. The vehicle would not drive at all. The milage at the time of failure was approx. 112,000 miles. I was later informed the vehicle's transmission needed to be replaced and that they had found metal shavings in the transmission fluid. The Ford dealership stated my vehicle was financed used and there was no warranty on it. The dealership also informed me there was no recalls on my vehicle. I spent approx. $4,600 to have this repaired by a local mechanic shop. Now, a year later, I had pulled over to let a funeral procession pass and once I began to accelerate, my vehicle began to stall. I was able to drive it to a gas station that was nearby where I was unable to drive it any further. My 3 children were in the vehicle with me. I took it to the same mechanic shop that had initially repaired it to inquire about a warranty on the transmission. I was informed the warranty was through a third party and they would not fix it, claiming I had gone 500 miles past what warranty covered ( 1 year or 12,000 miles). They diagnosed it and confirmed the transmission had to be replaced. I have been told it would cost me approximately $3,500 (plus labor) to repair again with another year/12,000 mile warranty. I took the Escape to the Ford dealership to have them diagnose it and was informed the the transmission needed to be replaced, and they would do it for $8,500. I have read about plenty of 2019 Ford Escape Recalls on the transmission and this is definitely a safety issue. I have a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with the 5.3ltr V8. The vehicle has 44,500 miles and has zero accident history. On 01/12/2026, the oil cooler line broke while driving, leaving 8 qts of oil covering the underside of the vehicle (exhaust, suspension and tires) creating a fire hazard along with possible loss of control with the rear tires coated in oil. Additionally, the vehicle is undrivable
... almost immediately due to zero oil pressure. The local Chevrolet dealership diagnosed it as a oil line failure. There is a Chevrolet Customer service program N212326940 for only certain VIN for this vehicle for this specific problem, however it doesn't cover my vehicle. In reviewing different web forums, this is a commonly known failure point with some defect to the hose clamp. GM has not extended a recall and has stopped covering this known failure. I'm not sure if it's a vendor/supplier failure with the oil line or an installation problem. A full recall and/or 10yr/100k warranty coverage should be provided for all oil line failures due to thousands of prior similar failures with the same oil line.Read more

My 2022 Ram 1500 is experiencing a "lurching" or "bumping" forward and backwards when moving from park to drive or reverse. Have taken to dealer and been told this is "normal operation" but I refuse to accept it. Have been researching this a lot la
... tely and have found many instances of other trucks experiencing the same issue with no fix. Links to examples of others in the same situation below. [XXX] [XXX] The problem lies in the binding of drive shaft slip yoke. Either in the 2 piece driveshaft splines OR at the transfer case. Many are temporarily remedying the issue by applying grease to the splines and this prevents the binding for a temporary amount of time. I was trying to park my vehicle in my garage, where I need to get within 1-2" from the wall for the garage door to close. When I try to release the brake to creep towards the wall, the truck lurches as the binding releases and bumps into the wall. I received a letter from Honda regarding a warranty extension on the torque converter of my 2017 Honda Pilot. When I asked what conditions would need to take place for the code to pop up, they stated the torque converter would seize up while driving and cause the vehicle to be a hazard to those in the vehicle. When I explained this to Honda, they continued to deny the repair since the code did not populate. My 2018 Ford F150 only has 30,500 miles on it. There is a well known issue with the 2018-2022 Ford 10 speed transmissions, where the CDF drum fails and causes many transmission related issues. I started to show symptoms of this failure, very rough shifts from 1-3 gear, transmission would hesitate and not shift into the next gear, sometimes it would even aggressively downshift while just maintain
... ing vehicle speed. The symptoms quickly got worse. I ended up stuck at a light because after it turned green, my vehicle wouldnt move, and i notcied it was stuck in 7th gear. I tried to manually downshift, but it wouldnt, as cars behind me were honking at me as i held up traffic. Eventually i started to accelerate from a stop in 7th gear, and then the transmission slammed into 1st gear. I brought my truck to Ford the next morning and they diagnosed it as a failing transmission with internal issues that needed to be replaced for over $13,000 dollars, reduced to $9800. This is at just 30,000 miles. I called around to other transmission shops and found a shop that would rebuild the transmission for $5000. I picked the truck up from the dealer to bring the the transmission shop, and it was just plain dangerous to drive. It downshifted from 4th to 1st going around a turn overrevving the engine, constant delayed shifts and rough shifts. I felt very unsafe driving this vehicle in this condition. All of these symptoms are amplified when the weather is cold and the transmission is still warming up. Ford knows about this issue, and has many Technical service bulletins related to the issue and how to diagnose it. Most recent is 25-2126 which is from March 31st 2025, I actually found it on the NHTSA website. Surprisingly there were no warning lights or anything that showed up, but i know others with the same issue have received warning lights. Ford would not provide any asssistance with the repair as my vehicle was less than 2 months out of my extended warranty end date.Read more

Fuel purge valve is malfunctioning. Vehicle loses power and is sluggish. Idles very rough and sometimes has a loss of power. My car has been at Ford twice in the last six months and problem still isn't fixed. Complete engine was replaced about a year and a half ago due to recall issue which I don't want happening again. I do not feel safe driving this car. I made an appointment with Ford a month
... ago for tomorrow for same stalling issue. I went to drop off and explain I wanted the repairs done for the recall to see if that fixed the problem. I filled up my gas tank on Sunday. The car wouldn't start and engine light came on saying engine failure service now. I let it sit for about ten minutes and it hesitantly cranked and engine light went off but accelerates slower with loss of power. It keeps doing this intermittently and sometimes loses power, and struggles when idling. I cut off let sit and then is okay until I pump gas again. I told the service repair person what happened and handed him the key to drop off the vehicle. He said if the light was not on at the time he would not be able to fix it and they couldn't schedule my vehicle for any additional recalls that are greatly needed for the car. It is running terrible. It idles and intermittently loses power while driving. Evan at Ford (Greer) response was to wait until it got bad enough that the engine light came on and stayed on. This was at D&D Ford in Greer, SC. He said it was Ford's policy the light had to be on to replace under recall with no charge. I told him it is unsafe to drive if it gets any worse it could cause an accident. I have two children and his recommendation to wait until it gets worse was appalling. He kept backlashing Ford and stated he doesn't work for Ford he works for D&D and only represents Ford. I said to him he was not representing Ford very well and that it was highly unlikely they would agree with his statements. I asked for documation of this policy--it contradicts what he says.Read more

I am reporting a serious safety defect regarding my 2022 Kia Sorento Hybrid (Mileage: 91,661). The vehicle was diagnosed with an internal short in the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) Control Unit (Error codes P0404, P049D). Upon inspection, significant engine oil intrusion was found inside the EGR unit. The EGR system is designed to handle exhaust gases only; the presence of liquid engine oil ind
... icates a critical failure in the powertrain system (likely the PCV system or turbocharger seals) which is forcing oil into the intake/exhaust tract. Safety Risk: This defect causes the EGR system to short-circuit, which can lead to unpredictable engine performance, reduced power, or sudden engine stalling while driving. Any sudden loss of power on a highway poses a severe risk of a rear-end collision. Furthermore, oil intrusion into electrical components increases the risk of thermal incidents or localized fires within the engine bay. Despite the vehicle being within the 10-year/100,000-mile Powertrain Warranty, the dealership (Suntrup Kia South) is refusing coverage, claiming the EGR is not a powertrain component, while ignoring the fact that a powertrain failure (oil bypass) is the root cause of the damage. I request NHTSA to investigate this "oil intrusion into EGR" issue as it appears to be a systemic defect in Kia’s hybrid powertrain that compromises vehicle safety.Read more

Was never notified of the recall pertaining to my vehicle. Upon research I contacted the dealership to have the recall fixed. I contacted Ford service department and they said the same
... as its out of extended warranty. This is a safety concern as Ford is aware of the failing component and will not let me get the recall fixed. At the moment the vehicle is in limp mode still runs just fine but due to the recall it is not and cannot get any help from the dealership nor Ford. I was never notified that the vehicle had any recalls as we where dealing with the known harmonic balancer issue which caused the dealership to replace the engine with a new and still had to replace that balancer 3 times until it was right. Besides that distraction there was no issues occuring from the Molded Lead Frame. This is a safety concern. The vehicle mileage is about 160k engine mileage maybe 20-30k. Original recalled component still remains. I am able to repair this myself but need to know if this was something they should be fixing.Read more
