I was at a stop sign making a left turn across four lanes of travel. I had a gap in traffic with ample time to make the left turn so I pressed on the gas pedal to begin the turn. The vehicle did not move forward upon me pressing the gas pedal. After about one second the vehicle finally moved. At that point cross traffic was closing in so I pressed the gas pedal to the floor. The vehicle lurched fo
... rward and the rear end broke loose causing me to fishtail the vehicle while making the turn. This delay in acceleration put me and my family at risk of being struck by oncoming traffic. The delay in acceleration caused me to mismanage the throttle sending the vehicle into an out of control turn which could have resulted in a crash had I not been able to regain control. I presented this information to the dealership mechanic and they told me that’s just how the gas pedals work in the tundra. That is not an acceptable answer. I paid too much for this vehicle for it to not be safe to drive.Read more

In March 2025, my 2022 Kia Soul developed a check engine light and drivability problems that progressed to rough idle, loss of power, reduced power with limited speed and an unresponsive throttle, and stalling after continued driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealership, and the dealer performed a major timing related repair (camshaft and related timing/CVVT components) under on 03/07/2025. I
... n January 2026, the check engine light returned and the dealer’s printout shows timing correlation related codes again (P0014 shown as pending and P0017 stored as history). Because the prior event involved loss of power and stalling, I stopped driving the vehicle immediately and brought it in as soon as the dealer had an opening to avoid a repeat safety incident. The dealership has stated the condition is due to low oil or excessive oil consumption and has recommended either engine replacement or additional major timing/engine repairs to make the vehicle drivable. I am concerned this is a recurring engine timing or engine control condition that can lead to reduced power and stalling while driving. I am also aware of recalls or manufacturer campaigns reported for similar Kia Soul vehicles involving engine oil consumption or related engine damage concerns, but my VIN does not show as included. Given the repeat timing related codes and prior reduced power and stalling, I am requesting review of whether this condition warrants broader investigation beyond the current VIN scope.Read more

The vehicle has a transmission (powertrain) malfunction that first appeared in July 2025, a few weeks after I purchased the vehicle and after the warranty had expired. At the time the issue began, the vehicle had well under 80,000 miles. The transmission slips, fails to properly engage, and cannot provide sufficient power, particularly when accelerating or driving uphill. The vehicle struggles to
... move forward and behaves unpredictably during normal driving conditions. This defect has put my safety and the safety of others at risk. On one occasion, the transmission failed while I was driving and I became stuck in the middle of an intersection, unable to accelerate, creating a serious traffic hazard. The issue has been reproduced consistently and has persisted despite repeated transmission fluid services. Multiple mechanics have inspected the vehicle and have indicated that the problem is not due to lack of maintenance, but instead is likely caused by the transmission not being properly filled with transmission fluid at the time of manufacture. Despite servicing, the problem continues, indicating an internal or manufacturing-related defect. I have also been in contact with multiple owners of the same make and model vehicle who report the same transmission failure, suggesting this is a widespread issue rather than an isolated incident.Read more

While driving at normal speed, my Kia EV6 experienced a sudden and complete failure of the ICCU system with zero warning. The vehicle instantly lost all propulsion power and all 12V electrical power, rendering the car uncontrollable and unsafe. I was unable to accelerate, unable to place the vehicle in gear, and unable to activate hazard lights. This occurred despite the vehicle being at approxima
... tely 99% battery charge. This failure created an immediate and severe safety hazard, as the vehicle effectively became a dead object in traffic without warning to surrounding drivers. There was no prior alert, no dashboard warning, and no indication of impending failure. This defect is well-documented and pervasive across the Hyundai–Kia–Genesis E-GMP electric vehicle platform and has persisted despite multiple recalls spanning several model years. Kia has acknowledged the issue through recalls but does not have a reliable or permanent fix. Even newer model year vehicles that are claimed to address the issue have experienced the same failure. If this defect occurred in an internal combustion engine vehicle — for example, a random, complete engine shutdown or fuel system failure while driving — it is highly unlikely that regulators would permit the issue to persist across multiple model years without resolution. The fact that this is occurring in an electric vehicle should not lower the safety standard. A sudden total loss of propulsion and electrical power is equally dangerous regardless of drivetrain. Critically, there is no assurance that this failure will not recur, even after replacement of the ICCU or related components. Owners are effectively being returned vehicles that can lose all power again at any time, without warning. It is deeply concerning that this issue remains unresolved after multiple recalls and multiple model years. Continued operation of these vehicles without a verified, permanent fix places the public at ongoing risk.Read more

My vehicle has experienced repeated and unresolved software/firmware failures that cause loss of essential vehicle functionality and repeated vehicle immobilization. Since purchase, the vehicle has been taken out of service multiple times for software-related repairs, including firmware updates and system resets, yet the problems persist and the vehicle cannot be relied upon to operate normally.
... The failures are not cosmetic or infotainment-only; they affect core vehicle systems and overall operability. After service visits, the vehicle is often returned with the same or new software-related issues, requiring additional service visits and extended downtime. The cumulative time out of service now exceeds 30 days. An authorized Polestar dealer principal, who also serves on the brand’s national leadership board, explained to me that U.S.-spec vehicles are running materially different firmware than vehicles sold in other markets. According to this explanation, Chinese-developed firmware was removed for U.S. regulatory reasons and replaced with U.S.-developed firmware that was not fully validated at the time of sale. As a result, U.S. customers are effectively acting as beta testers for unstable software. Because modern EV software controls safety-critical vehicle functions, a vehicle that repeatedly fails, becomes immobilized, or cannot be reliably restored to service after software updates presents a safety and reliability concern. The vehicle’s unpredictable behavior and lack of dependable operation raise concerns beyond inconvenience and indicate a potential systemic defect affecting U.S.-spec vehicles.Read more

While driving with my family on a busy freeway at approximately 70 mph, our vehicle suddenly displayed a loud, urgent warning: “Hybrid System Warning – Safely Stop and Do Not Drive!” At the same moment, the car lost the ability to accelerate without any prior signs of trouble. We were extremely fortunate to have enough momentum to coast to the shoulder and shut the vehicle off, unsure of how
... serious the issue might be. Being stranded without warning on a high‑speed highway put my entire family in a dangerous situation. After a few minutes, we restarted the car to see if we could at least get it off the freeway. The warning had disappeared, and the vehicle drove normally, allowing us to take back roads home. The lack of any prior symptoms makes this even more concerning. Losing acceleration at highway speeds with no warning is a major safety hazard. We took the vehicle to a dealership immediately, but because the warning light was no longer active, they were unable to diagnose the problem. A few days later, the same warning appeared again—this time only a couple minutes from home. I turned around immediately for safety, parked the car, and once again the warning disappeared as soon as the vehicle was shut off. At this point, we have a car sitting in our driveway that we do not feel safe driving. The dealership cannot identify or repair the issue unless the warning is active, & even then, they cannot guarantee that a diagnostic code will appear. After researching this problem online, it’s clear that many other Hyundai owners are experiencing the same issue, often spending thousands of dollars without a definitive fix. Despite how common & dangerous this problem appears to be, there are no recalls & no consistent guidance from dealerships. This situation is unacceptable from a safety standpoint. A vehicle that can suddenly lose power at highway speeds—with no warning and no reliable way to diagnose the cause—poses a serious risk to EVERYONE and needs to be investigatedRead more
