My Acura service department notified me at my last oil change that they discovered (accidentally) my transmission / transfer case is damaged and is not transferring power to the rear wheels, rendering the vehicle as 2 wheel drive only. This requires a total replacement costing $16,000 +/-. My research indicates this is likely caused by a faulty splined shaft inside the transmission-transfer case a
... ssembly used in the early 2022 MDX vehicles. The dashboard info system for SH-AWD indicates that the car IS in All Wheel Drive and there are no messages indicating a problem with the All Wheel Drive. This has not been a problem during non-snow or other slippery conditions, but recent storms have made this a major safety problem for me. The fact that the car sensing system does not detect this problem could cause serious driving danger for unsuspecting drivers. This also prevents Acura/Honda from acting on this issue publicly as owners of this vehicle have no way of knowing the problem exists until it is too late.Read more

I am filing this complaint to report a catastrophic engine failure involving my 2017 GMC Terrain equipped with the 2.4L Ecotec engine, which I believe is the result of a known manufacturing defect related to excessive oil consumption and premature internal engine wear. At approximately 88,000 miles, my vehicle experienced severe engine failure, including excessive oil consumption, timing chain fa
... ilure, and complete engine failure, which has been confirmed in writing by a licensed repair facility. The shop determined that the engine failure was caused by oil starvation resulting from excessive oil consumption, leading to internal engine damage and timing chain failure. This failure occurred without warning and rendered the vehicle unsafe to operate. Sudden engine failure creates a serious safety risk, including loss of power while driving, inability to accelerate, and increased risk of collision. This engine failure matches a well-documented defect pattern involving General Motors’ 2.4L Ecotec engines, which have been the subject of class-action lawsuits, settlements, and jury verdicts related to premature piston ring wear, excessive oil consumption, and resulting engine damage or failure. These issues have been widely reported in Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain vehicles within my model year range. My vehicle was properly maintained, and this failure was not the result of neglect, misuse, or normal wear and tear, but rather a latent manufacturing defect that manifested after the warranty period but well within the reasonable life expectancy of the engine. I am requesting that NHTSA formally document and investigate this defect, as it presents a significant safety concern for drivers operating vehicles equipped with this engine. I also request that General Motors be required to address this defect to prevent additional engine failures and potential safety incidents.Read more

Code P1C2D03 is popping up on my 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe after the dealership "fixed" the recall in 2023. My car is going into limp mode, failing while driving, and unsafe. Dealership and corporate won't help me. The transmission was never replaced with the recall and they are claiming they aren't relatable and can't do anything unless a recall is reopened.

My vehicle started was burning oil having to add oil frequently. Then a knocking noise started coming from the engine (2.0 L MPI NU).It began to have trouble starting and was not accelerating properly and the check engine light came on . Within two days I brought my car to my mechanic and he stated that there was no sign of an oil leak and felt it was a deeper problem. I brought it to a Hyundai d

I feel that the lack of acceleration could have been a safety issue on the highway as it could have prevented me from passing in a timely fashion or just lose all power in traffic. I take my to the ford dealership one day for oil change. The mechanics do a full multi inspection and find some issues that needed to be fixed, nothing about the transmission and transmission fluid being low or being dark. So I requested to do oil change and a recommended Engine Tune-up. I get my car back. However, about a week or two later I start noticing some shuddering and vibrations in the ca
... r when I hit the gas pedal. I take the car back to the dealership. I tell them how I had been there a few weeks back for oil change but after that I started noticing weird movements in the car. So they take the car to do an inspection on it. Then the mechanic/advisor guy says the vehicle needs a new transmission due to a failed torque converter. And he said the new transmission will cost $8700. And he charged me again for the inspection of the car. The vehicle is a 2020 Ford Edge with just 85400 miles. How does a 6 yr old car with less mileage blow a transmission that fast.Read more

I bought this car used with about 100k miles, took it for a test drive around the block at the local dealership and didn't hear anything at the time. When I took it on the freeway for the first time I heard the Whining noise. It only happens when there is a load on the transmission and gets louder as the speed increases. On top of that, it seems like it starts out in second or third gear sometime
... s I can't move until it downshifts which is extremely dangerous considering I've been sticking out in the street and other cars are coming! This apparently was a new design starting in 2018 and many people have been cursed by this transmission the more I keep reading up on this. I've owned many toyotas in the past and I've never had any issues, especially with the transmission. I've been quoted anywhere from $6k to $10k to replace the transmission and I cannot even remotely be able to afford that at this time. I feel like I'm driving a ticking time bomb, I need to listen to music to not drive me nuts and I can still hear the whine! If it weren't for this problem I couldn't really have any other complaints, but unfortunately this is a Very Big problem. The more I read this was a first year design and it looks like it failed miserably, I would call it a lemon. Every day I drive this car it slips while shifting gears, shifts too often or not enough. This thing should be replaced. Please, I am a loyal Toyota customer and hate that this has changed my mind. Please replace these faulty 8 speed transmissions.Read more

This 2021 Acura TLX Type-S has experienced a complete failure of the transfer case after approximately 40,000 miles of use. This unfortunately is a known issue on the online forums for this vehicle in model years 2021-2023. I have a video inspection performed by the local dealership proving this. The only warning is a one-time loud boom when accelerating and a leaking from the transfer case of fl
... uid thereafter. There is no safety issue best I can tell, however the car only performs in front drive mode once the transfer case quits working. The issue is due to weak splines within the transfer case that shear off and thus damage the 10-speed automatic transmission in the process. Acura has a 6 year 70,000 mile warranty, so a complete replacement is covered, however my concern is for whether the new transfer case part # 29000-5YK-060 which replaces the old 29000-5YK-050 part will do the same. This is a very expensive fix into the 5 figures (over $10,000) and really needs to have a recall as there are dozens and dozens of owners online who have experienced this failure.Read more

Complaint: Safety Defect - Engine Failure Risk (Stalling/Fire) My 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe has the defective Theta II 2.0L Turbo engine (G4KH), subject of class action In re: Hyundai and Kia Engine Litigation and multiple TSBs. The engine has a known manufacturing defect causing premature connecting rod bearing failure, leading to catastrophic engine seizure. SAFETY CONSEQUENCE: This defect present
... s a clear, unreasonable safety risk: Sudden Stalling: Engine can seize without warning while driving, causing loss of propulsion and power steering/brakes, leading to a crash. Engine Fire: Failed engines can leak oil onto hot components, causing fires. MANUFACTURER'S INADEQUATE REMEDY: Hyundai's "Knock Sensor Detection System" software update (Campaign 966) only attempts to detect failure moments before it happens. It does NOT fix the underlying mechanical defect. The engine remains a ticking time bomb. PERSONAL EXPERIENCE: My vehicle has suffered multiple related failures (turbocharger, fuel injectors) costing over $5,700, confirming the powertrain's deterioration. I fear driving it, especially with my teenage daughter. The defect is well-known, yet Hyundai's settlements fail to protect subsequent owners like myself, leaving unsafe vehicles on the road. REQUEST: I urge NHTSA to investigate the ongoing safety risk these engines pose to all owners, compel Hyundai to issue a true safety recall for a permanent repair (e.g., engine long-block replacement), and mandate clear disclosure of this defect to all used car buyers.Read more

On Saturday, December 6, 2025 my [XXX] mother and I were driving back to my mom’s Saint Peters, Missouri home around 5:15 pm. I had just exited Missouri Highway 364 at Woodstone/Jungermann Road. I turned right onto Woodstone and heard a thud/clunk. Never heard that sound before. One hundred yards later, the 2015 Murano stopped accelerating right in the middle of the road. I put it in Par
... k, Neutral and then Drive. Nothing. The vehicle wouldn’t go forward. It did engage in Reverse so I was able to back it to the side of road and out of the line of traffic. I again put the vehicle in Park, Neutral and then Drive. The vehicle wouldn’t go forward. I went back to the cargo area to retrieve my purse so I could access my AAA card and have the vehicle towed (first time in 50 years of driving I had to have a vehicle towed). I tried again to put the vehicle in Drive and it did engage this time and I was able to drive it the three to four miles to my mom’s house. Had the sudden loss of power happened ONE MINUTE before on the highway, the outcome would have been much different. It upsets me even now to think what could have occurred if the Murano suddenly stopped in the middle of the highway. I was in the second lane of the highway and could not get to the side of the highway. I would not be able to abandon the vehicle in the middle of the dark highway since my mom would not be able to exit it without her wheelchair and there was a high probability we would have gotten struck by other vehicles and/or caused a major pile up behind us. I took it to the local Nissan dealer and they confirmed the CVT transmission went out in the 2015 Murano with 131,000 miles. What makes me even more upset is that it is a KNOWN defect on the CVT and has been for so long. My mom and I could have been killed on the highway since the vehicle stopped in the middle of it. I wanted to register a complaint on an issue we have experienced in our 2024 Honda Prologue EX Elite with the "CV axles." This vehicle was sold to us with like-new mileage and was also certified, pre-owned by Honda. Symptoms of the problem were knocking sounds heard from the lower, front section of the car when accelerating from a stop and turning at the same time. It was first noticed around 4
... 000 miles and diagnosed by the local Honda dealer at around 7300 miles. Based on many blog postings about consumer experiences with this issue, I believe it would have been difficult for Honda to unknowingly sell this car with this as a design defect, and it does not have a fix other than replacing with the same part which is prone to failure. Again, this claim can be backed up by many other consumer postings which reference defective CV axles being replaced multiple times. We would have made a wiser decision on purchase selection and are now concerned about resale value of the car. We are asking for your help in a recall mandate after evaluating the problem for Honda Prologues and GM vehicles using the same platform.Read more

I am reporting an open safety recall on my vehicle that has had no available remedy for over a year. My 2019 Jeep Cherokee is subject to Recall 01C, which warns of potential loss of power and loss of park function. Due to this defect, my vehicle’s 4-wheel drive system is currently inoperative. I live in Minnesota, where 4WD is necessary for safe winter driving. The loss of 4WD significantly affe

The recall notice has repeatedly stated that a remedy would be available by a certain date, but each time the date passes it is pushed back again. There has been no repair available despite the recall being open for more than a year. While I have not yet experienced a complete loss of power or park function, the recall states this is a possibility, and I am concerned about the safety risk this presents. The vehicle is currently being operated with a known safety defect that cannot be repaired. I am requesting that this issue be reviewed, as the prolonged lack of a remedy for a safety-related recall is creating an ongoing safety concern and hardship.Read more

While operating my 2019 Ford F-150 XLT on a highway at normal speed, the vehicle suddenly and aggressively downshifted without any driver input. The abrupt deceleration created an immediate safety hazard. I was wearing a seatbelt; without it, there was a substantial risk of ejection and serious injury or death. A vehicle traveling behind me was forced to brake suddenly and skid to avoid a high-spe
... ed rear-end collision. This incident placed multiple motorists at significant risk The vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission, and no action on my part caused the downshift. Shortly after the incident, the wrench warning indicator illuminated on the dashboard, signaling a mechanical malfunction. I immediately took the vehicle to an authorized Ford dealership, where I was informed that the transmission had failed and required complete replacement. I was required to pay for the repair out of pocket because the vehicle had approximately 62,000 miles, slightly exceeding the 60,000-mile powertrain warranty. Following this incident, I became aware of numerous consumer complaints describing substantially similar failures, including unexpected and erratic shifting and sudden downshifts. These reports indicate a recurring and systemic transmission defect involving unpredictable gear engagement. Given the volume of complaints, the existence of class action litigation, and the severity of the safety risk, this condition constitutes a safety-related defect rather than a performance issue. My understanding is that in March 2025, NHTSA initiated an investigation into this matter. Ford was obligated to report this condition as a safety-related defect under 49 C.F.R. § 579, as it presents an unreasonable risk of crashes, serious injury, or death. Complaint trends demonstrate a pattern consistent with a defect. Ford should issue a recall for affected vehicles and reimburse consumers who have incurred costs to repair or replace defective transmissions to mitigate ongoing riskRead more

The 2024 Toyota Corolla needs to be added to the list of vehicles currently being investigated for transmission/engine issues. The vehicle in question is currently exhibiting transmission anomalies consistent with those observed in several other vehicles under review, specifically: slipping, jerking, surging forward, hesitation to accelerate from a complete stop, loss of power, droning sound at l
... ow speed, odd knocking noise/vibration during idle, unresponsive gear changes, shuddering upon vehicle shutdown, and decreased fuel efficiency. The owner has incurred expenses exceeding $2,000 for rental vehicles and diagnostic services in an effort to resolve these persistent issues. However, as of January 21, 2026, Toyota has not acknowledged the existence of a problem, asserting that these conditions are within normal operating parameters and that the vehicle is performing as intended. A local mechanic has advised the owner that Toyota will not diagnose the issue, but they are likely to offer a post-warranty adjustment should the transmission ultimately fail. It has become increasingly apparent that Toyota is not conducting a thorough investigation into these matters and expects the customer to bear the expense beyond the scope of the standard warranty. Beyond the immediate safety concerns for the owner, there is a significant risk of collision should the vehicle experience a loss of control or erratic behavior. Thank you for your time and assistance in investigating this matter.Read more

While accelerating, the transmission is causing a whining sound that is consistent. Vehicle only has 94K miles on it. I have taken the vehicle to my local Toyota dealership and they did confirm that this is something they have been very often in the 8
... th Generation Toyota Camry's. They also confirmed that this is an issue with the transmission and is going into transmission failure. There has been no warning lights or indications for this matter except for the noise you hear while accelerating. After countless hours of research, Toyota has put out a TSB for this issue (TSB-0043-19). Unfortunately, this TSB has not fixed the issue with the power train. Currently, the UA80 8-speed automatic transmission is on a 60-90 day back order for how many transmissions are needing to be replaced for this issue. Not only is this a severe safety concern for the transmission to give out whilst driving in traffic, but it is a financial issue for many drivers having to pay up to $8,000 for this issue to be resolved.Read more

I purchased the truck from Andy Mohr with 8806 miles on it in November of 2019. I worked overseas for the DOD so that’s why the miles are low. After I got it fixed, ($4500 dollars at Hare Chevrolet
... ) I experienced the transmission shake while driving home from work with my children in it. The transmission was shaking so bad the whole cab was rocking. That repair was $3,300. Now, the truck has piston slap and rod issues and currently at Hare Chevrolet for service. I was told I need a full rebuild ($12,000 dollars or a new engine $14000 dollars). As a retired Air Force veteran, I didn’t expect issues like this, especially when I baby the truck and it currently has 40,530 miles. I had regular oil changes and service, yet now stuck with a high class truck that has serious issues that seem to be ignored by GM and Andy Mohr GMC. Andy Mohr sold me an extended warranty at time of purchase but I paid for a year and a half that wasn’t usable. If I had that warranty I would be covered now.But besides that, it’s a Denali, I shouldn’t be having a new engine at 40,530 miles. I am happy that there is an investigation but it needs to be widened because my truck was right before the new model rollout but I am having the same issues. If needed, I have all my receipts and information and will provide the service rep at Hare. The reason why its at Hare vs Andy Mohr is due to me catching them not fully servicing my truck and joy riding my Camaro ZL1 after an oil change before I went home for a funeral.Read more

In Late October 2025 my 21 Edge started having issues at 35-40mph, seemed to be jerking while accelerating. No Dash/Check engine lights. I took the vehicle to the Dealer that I bought it from and I was told that it was the ERG Valve, we replaced that and it is still having the exact same issue. We took the vehicle to another Ford Dealer and they told us it is the Torque Converter and they want $
... 5700.00 to fix it. The vehicle only has 70k miles on it. This is just past factory warranty and FORD is not willing to help with cost. The Part to fix this is only $300 and they are charging all of that in labor for a known and common issue with their vehicles. Now, I had just bought this car from the first Ford Dealership in April 2025 and I am already at this much of a loss.Read more

Clunking in the front end around 20,000 miles. Brought to multiple dealers and they all said no problem found yet clearly hear clunking both sides front going over bumps or steering back and forth quickly. Finally I just replaced them and noise gone. Second thing is headliner is completely ruined from moisture intrusion and can visibly be seen but dealer states no leaks present yet my headliner
... is water stained looking like those wet tiles in a school. Third is my transmission. It is very erratic when shifting and sometimes flares when downshifting. Dealers state no problems exist. Operates as designed, yet I have driven other mavericks and they do not have the same issues as myself. I have changed the fluid with genuine ford ulv transmission fluid from dealer at about 50k miles. I change my oil every 3k, changed my differentials and transfer case all with genuine fluid. I am an AAS Automotive Technology graduate and currently ASE certified and have worked in multiple dealerships replacing transmissions, engines, almost anything since I have started. I need to gather my records as I have kept receipts and records as I do all my own maintenance and repairs. I have replaced the downstream oxygen sensor twice. Yesterday morning I got a frozen throttle body and limp mode and if I did not have my scan tool I would have been stranded as it would not let me drive due to the stuck closed codes. All codes since I owned the vehicle with 3 miles on it are stored in my ford app and on my scan tool with vin. I have tried calling ford, email, different dealerships and they deny me or want me to pay out of pocket when I have warranty.Read more
