Transmission failed. This is the third transmission in this car, which only has 130,000 miles and has been well-maintained. This transmission failure happened in a busy downtown area with evening traffic (lower visibility, lots of cars, lots of people, lots of angry and impatient drivers as car stopped working in busy area). I am lucky that I was not rear ended during the sudden failure.

Following extensive research & uncovering the fact that there are several class action lawsuits underway calling out GM for not issuing a formal recall when they should have from the start, we've been forced to personally absorb significant costs tied to replacing our 2023 Suburban's Valve Body around the mid-December FY'25 timeframe. It's also been publicly stated that GM opted to "not release" a
... n official recall for the 1500 series Suburban when they've already issued an official recall for the larger 2500 series equivalent, according to our local dealership. We've already filed an official "full credit request" with GM's complaints organization, but we're sensing our voice will likely remain unaddressed at this point unless proven otherwise. Additionally, this is the second purchased Suburban with a YukonXL, being our original purchase from many years back, but in short, we're going to transition away from GM vehicles long-term, assuming our "full credit request" remains ignored. In short & our local dealership totally agrees with our current stance, critical transmission components should not be failing at this point & especially with a newer Fy'23 Suburban, when behind the scenes GM opts to "not recall" saving the company north of 600M from many months back. Just terrible from so many perspectives, as disgruntled end-clients like myself suffer from forced irresponsible cost requirements.Read more

We have taken our F-150 to the dealership multiple times for a clunking issue under the truck, and have been told that it is related to the recall issued. Although, it has never been repaired. We take it in a couple of weeks ago for the exact same issue that has been going on since October of 2024 and suddenly it is a transmission issue. We are told that they can gladly repair the transmission for
... $10,000 now that they put us off until the extended warranty expired. I think this is happening a lot, as the exact thing happened to my friend's daughter. Also, it appears upon doing a little research that 2021-2024 F-150s and Explorers have this issue frequently well before they reach the 100,000 mile mark. Many times before the buyer has even paid off the loan for said automobiles. This surely poses a safety risk, as well because you never know when the vehicle is going to fail. Also, my husband took his truck in telling them that it wouldn't go into gear and the shifter had a problem in February of 2024, it took the truck's shifter literally breaking off in the driveway (thank Goodness) and being towed in to the dealership before it was repaired.Read more

On [XXX], we sent a 2021 Ford Interceptor to J.C. Lewis Ford located at 309 W. Oglethorpe Hwy, Hinesville, Georgia 31313 for a recall under 23S55. The recall is a safety issue related to a rear axle bolt and the possibility the bolt can fracture. We had the recall done and returned the vehicle to service. On or about [XXX], our fleet manager was called to the Liberty County Jail because this ve
... hicle was making a loud noise from the rear end. Our fleet manager had the vehicle towed to the county shop where it was inspected. They concluded the vehicle would need to be towed to Ford for repair since the rear axle bolt fractured, the exact issue that was addressed under the recall. A few days later, we were notified that the dealer was refusing to pay for the repair since they had already done the recall. I contacted Ford Customer Service, case number [XXX], to try and resolve the issue. After going back and forth, I received notification on February 3, 2026, that financial assistance has been denied and that this concern is caused by how the vehicle was / is used over and form of manufacturer defect or previously completed recall. The vehicle is a police interceptor purchased for use as a patrol vehicle for the Liberty County Sheriff's Office located in Hinesville, Georgia. The vehicle is assigned to our civil division and the operator serves evictions and civil documents. The vehicle is not used for patrol but even if it had been, that's the intended purpose of the vehicle when purchased. I have photos of the bolt which show it fractured and also shows the head of the bolt appears to have some damage, possibly from the manner in which it was installed. This failure has been identified as a safety issue related to the 2021 Ford Interceptor and is not a new issue. The recall referenced an axle bolt that can fracture, and that did happen but Ford doesn't want to take responsibility. Transmission Valve Body and Lead Frame. ... been wrong (no warning lights at the time.), we continued on without incident. A few weeks later, the same thing happened again as I was coming home from work. The check engine light came on and the transmission was locked in 2nd gear. I called a local shop that has Ford certified mechanics and found out this was a common problem, and due to it being a common problem, there was limited parts available to remedy the problem. I ended up having to have the transmission valve body and lead frame replaced as well as the filter and fluid. $1806.35 In both cases, when the transmission downshifted to 2nd, it put me and my family in very dangerous situation. We got lucky! I had everything repaired at my expense and didn't report anything at the time until I saw an article that reported that this had happened to many other people. It is something that Ford should address, and any vehicles that haven't already had this fixed, should be fixed at Ford's expense. Also, what about the people that have had this replaced, such as myself, are we certain the new main frames and valve bodies won't fail in time?Read more

On January 31, 2026 while driving on the hwy at 75 miles per hour the vehicle started to rattle and it lost propulsion. The DIC indicatd "System Failure" and I had to pull off to the shoulder of the highway. The DIC repeated "System Failure" and that the vehicle needed to be restarted. The vehicle would not restart when attempting to press the brake and restart. ... , while driving my vehicle it stalled, smoked, and smoldered. I made no collisions with any other object, person, or vehicle. I called my insurance and the fire department (incident number: [XXX]). I believe the damage was related to the recall. It was described to me that there was even damage to some wiring, as a result of the fire. I called my insurance, and they towed my vehicle to Larry H. Miller Ford Dealership on September 30, 2025. It was scheduled for its first service on October 1, 2025, but technicians inspected it on October 16, 2025. The repair cost exceeded the vehicle’s value, as I needed a new engine and transmission. After long periods without progress and updates, on January 7th, I was informed by the dealership that I’d either be paid or my vehicle would be repaired, but the final decision rested with Ford Motor Company. The dealership had submitted everything, as a service manager with Larry H. Miller told me on January 7, 2026. I called Ford Motor Company and asked for specific repair dates, but I received no more information than from the dealership. Also, when I was stalled at the green light it was on a road that had a speed limit of 70 which I could have been hit by another vehicle predicting me to drive away from the stop light when I could not. It hasn't been confirmed by a dealer or independent service center but matches the description of the NHTSA investigation into the issue. The vehicle component has not be inspected yet. Ok there is a powertrain warranty then I had to prove oil changes, guess what I'm human and I missed two oil changes so the "extended warranty" McCluskey "gifted me" was void. The vehicle exhibits a severe vibration and shaking at normal highway speeds, most notably around 70–80 mph. The condition is repeatable and occurs during steady freeway driving. The vibration is strong enough that the vehicle feels unstable and unsafe to operate at typical highway speeds. This condition significantly affects safe freeway operation. Due to the severity of the shaking, I no long
... er feel comfortable or safe driving the vehicle at or above normal traffic speeds, which increases risk when merging, maintaining speed with traffic, or responding to road conditions. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by authorized dealerships. Multiple inspections and repair attempts have been performed over several months for the same vibration concern. Major drivetrain components, including the rear differential and driveshaft, were replaced, but the vibration remains unresolved. The servicing dealer has stated they do not have a further diagnostic path and are unable to continue addressing the issue. The issue has been ongoing since approximately November 2024 and has not been resolved despite repeated service visits. No warning lights or messages are present. The vibration is speed-dependent rather than engine-speed-dependent. The vehicle remains available for inspection upon request.Read more

The 2025 and 2026 dually 3500 Ram trucks with the 12" AAM rear axle are having issues with the rear wheel speed sensors (different sensor for each side). They apparently fail or are not able to properly communicate to the computer. When this happens, the following are disabled: -ABS -Auto Emergency Braking -4x4 -Electronic Stability Control -Cruise Sometimes, the engine won't shut off. The gauge
... cluster will state it can't detect which position the transmission is in. So, you cannot shift, and you can't shut the truck off, and you can't drive. You are stuck in place with a running engine. Despite Stellantis releasing a new revision of wheel speed sensors (AB revision), they have failed in less than 2,000 miles on my truck. Many, many dually owners are experiencing these failures. I've had this problem occur over half a dozen times. It has been to the dealership to be repaired 3 times so far. After the 2nd time at the dealership, the sensors only last less than 23 miles.Read more

I was notified that my 2023 Silverado had an open recall (L87 Engine loss of propulsion). I brought the truck to the dealer for the recall on 8/19 with 35,921 miles on the vehicle. The inspection was performed and I was told it passed. When I asked about the extended special coverage they told me they didn't know what I was talking about. Only 4 months and 4,567 miles later, on 12/29, the vehicle
... shutdown in traffic and was not able to restart. The engine had failed and the starter fuse blew due to the motor being seized. The dealer relaced the engine due to the same recall that the engine had already been inspected and passed the inspection for.Read more
