CAR: 2007 LEXUS GS450H, FACTORY CERTIFIED. HAD A SERIOUS ISSUE WHICH WARRANTS A RECALL OF ALL AFFECTED CARS, WHICH MAY NOT BE LIMITED TO THE GS HYBRID. THIS HAPPENED ONLY A COUPLE OF WEEKS AFTER BUYING THE CAR. PER LEXUS, IT IS A DEFECT WHICH WILL IMPACT ALL OF THEIR HYBRIDS, AND PROBABLY ALL TOYOTA HYBRIDS AS WELL. THEY CONSIDER THIS TO BE 'CORRECT' BEHAVIOR AND REFUSE TO FIX IT. MY PERSPECTIVE: YOU SHOULD NOT DESIGN A CAR TO TURN ITSELF OFF WHEN IT'S MOVING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED JUST BECAUSE A SENSOR HAS A GLITCH. THE WORST CASE SCENARIO OF DAMAGING THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT NEARLY AS BAD AS THE TYPICAL CASE SCENARIO OF LOSING STEERING AND BRAKES ON THE FREEWAY. ... ED IT WAS MY AIR FILTER WHICH IS A LIE. I CALLED THE FORD HEADQUARTERS AND ALL THEY CAN DO IS TAKE DOWN WHEN I CALLED AND WHAT IT WAS ABOUT. THEY ARE NO HELP WHAT SO EVER SO WHAT IS THE POINT OF THEM EVEN EXISTING IF THEY CANT HELP SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THEY CLAIM EACH DEALER IS INDEPENDENT AND THAT THEY CAN ADVISE THAT I GO TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP. I HAVE WASTED A GOOD DEAL OF TIME AND MONEY. LUCKILY I WAS SMART AND BOUGHT THAT PREMIUM EXTENDED WARRANTY. I STILL HAVE SPENT CLOSE TO OVER $400 ON REPAIRS. EACH TIME I WENT I HAD TO PAY A DEDUCTIBLE OF $100.00. THE BATTERY I WENT TO SAMS CLUB TO GET BECAUSE THE DEALER WANTED $140 BUT I GOT MINE FOR $75. THEY ADVISED TO GET MY THROTTLE BODY CLEAN AND THAT WAS $95. THEY SAID I NEED TO HAVE MY TRANSMISSION FLUSHED WHICH IS ANOTHER LIE. I DIDN'T GET THAT DONE BECAUSE I ONLY HAVE 60,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS AS RED AS CAN BE AND IS STILL GOOD FOR PROBABLY ANOTHER 40,000 MILES. THE POINT IS FORD KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND THEY DO NOT WANT TO FIX THE PROBLEM IT APPARENTLY IS HAPPENING TO TONS OF FOLKS OUT THERE. THEY NEED TO JUST FIX IT BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH I HAD MY THROTTLE BODY CLEANED THE PROBLEM STILL COMES BACK HERE AND THERE. I JUST HOPE THAT NO ONE GETS KILLED AND THEN FORD WILL FINALLY GET THIS RIGHT. I HAVE HAD A 2008 EOS FOR LESS THAN 3 YEARS. I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR AFTER 4 MONTHS, IT HAS HAD SEVERAL REPAIRS INCLUDING ELECTRICAL SEAT NOT WORKING PROPERLY, LEAKS IN WINDOW, CHEAP MATERIALS FALLING OFF NEEDING REPLACEMENT, BRAKES NEEDING SOONER THAN MOST CARS (BRAKES ARE VERY LONG,TAKES FOREVER TO COME TO STOP). IT HAS HAD PROBLEMS WITH LURCHING, SURGING, JERKING AND LACK OF POWER WHEN ACCELERATING OR PUTTING INTO SPORT MODE, THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS AND LEAKING FROM WINDOWS AS WELL. THEY REPLACED ONE PART (THAT WAS OFFICIALLY RECALLED) AND THE CAR DROVE WORSE. THEY FINALLY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AND NOW HAVE A NEW RATTLING PROBLEM THAT SEEMS TO COME FROM THE ENGINE, ALONG WITH WINDOW BUTTON ON DRIVER SIDE STICKING. THERE IS STILL TIMES WHEN I ACCELERATE AND THERE NO INCREASED POWER OR I PUT IT INTO SPORT AND THERE IS NO INCREASE IN SPEED OR RPM'S. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN AGAIN AND THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT IT IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND I WILL HAVE TO COVER COSTS THAT ARE NOT UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY.
