TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE IT WOULDN'T EXCEED 40 MPH AND THE VEHICLE WOULD JERK VIOLENTLY. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED, ADVISED HER THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 77,000.

THE SECOND TRANSMISSION STARTED BUCKING WHILE GOING UP HILLS AT 120,000 MILES. TOOK THE CAR IN AT 120,703 TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP. I PROCEEDED TO DRIVE UP TO THE STORE TO PICK THEM UP WHEN THE CAR SURGED AND THE ENGINE STARTED RACING. I HAD TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES AND THROW THE CAR IN PARK TO GET IT TO STOP. THE ENGINE AND RPM'S WERE STILL RACING AND 4,000 RPMS. NO CODES WERE THROWN AND NO LIGHTS ON THE DASH AGAIN. 20 MINUTES LATER AS WE WERE COMING HOME, THE CAR LOST POWER AS IF THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED INTO FIRST GEAR AND WE CREEPED ALL THE HOME AT 5 MPH, WITH ME HAVING THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. THIS TIME THERE WERE CODES, BUT WHEN THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF IT WOULD NOT RESTART. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE IPDM. 825 DOLLARS FOR THE FIX. 51 MILES LATER THE CAR SLIPS AGAIN AND ACTS LIKE IT IS THROWN INTO FIRST GEAR. NO LIGHTS, NO CODES. AFTER READING MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE CVT TRANSMISSION IN THE 2003 MURANO I HAVE NO DOUBT THIS IS THE PROBLEM. THIS DEFECT HAS PUT MY FAMILY IN MANY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS IN THE PAST YEAR. I WAS DRIVING OUR 2004 HONDA ACCORD EX V6. MY WIFE WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. I ENTERED THE FREEWAY ACCELERATING TO FREEWAY SPEEDS (60MPH) AND AROUND 55MPH THE CAR'S ENGINE REVVED TO 6000RPM. KNOWING SOMETHING WAS WRONG I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS. THE CAR BEGAN TO COAST AND ALL OF A SUDDEN IT CAUGHT A LOWER GEAR AND VIOLENTLY STARTED TO ENGINE BRAKE. I ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR. THE CAR HAS BEEN WELL TAKEN CARE OF AND HAS HAD ALL OF ITS SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE AND INSPECTIONS (WITH RECORDS). THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO REPAIR SHOP AND WE WERE INFORMED THE CAR'S TRANSMISSION IS BAD. THE CAR HAS 121,000 MILES. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES WITH THIS CAR YEAR MODEL THAT INCLUDED CARS MANUFACTURED TO JANUARY 8, 2004. OUR CAR WAS MANUFACTURED IN JANUARY 2004 AND NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. WE HAVE YET TO HAVE THE CAR REPAIRED BECAUSE OF THE INSANELY HIGH REPAIR COST. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED SEVERAL INTERNET SITES AND NEWSPAPER ARTICLES REFERRING TO HONDA TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS.
