AS I WAS DRIVING MY 2006 FORD FREESTAR ON A BUSY HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE ACTED AS IF IT WENT INTO NEUTRAL AND I HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM AND AS I ENTERED "2006 FORD FREESTAR" INTO GOOGLE SEARCH IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM THAT IS HAPPENING WITH THOUSANDS OF OTHER VEHICLES OF THE SAME YEAR/MAKE. WHY IS THIS NOT A RECALL FROM FORD? THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM! I WAS TRAVELING AT A SPEED OF 72MPH IN HEAVY TRAFFIC WHEN THIS OCCURRED AND COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER 300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF THE PARK POSITION. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE SHIFT MODULATOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND TOLD THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 63,000.
