THE NEW TRANSMISSION THAT REPLACED THE BAD ONE ONLY HAS 40,000 MILES ON IT. THE SERVICE REP SAID I COULD PURCHASE A PART FOR 2,000 DOLLARS AND SEE IF THAT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM BUT HE ALREADY HAS 5 TRANSMISSIONS HE IS CURRENTLY WORKING ON THAT NEED TO BE REPLACED. I FELT THAT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT NEW THIS WAS NOT GOING TO HELP BUT SAW THE OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ME SINCE I WAS NOT FAMILIAR WITH THIS ISSUE. I THAN CHECKED THE BLOGS FOR VW TRANSMISSION AND TO MY SURPRISE FOUND 240+ REASONS WHY I WAS NOT ALONE ON THIS ISSUE. PLEASE READ THE COMPLAINTS OF OTHER CONSUMERS THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE POWER DOORS REOPENING THEMSELVES ON THIS VAN. I HAVE HAD ITEMS GET TRAPPED INSIDE OF THE DOORS OF THIS VAN AS WELL. I CONTACTED THE DEALER ABOUT IT AND OF COURSE COULD NOT GET IT TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I HAD ALSO SAID SOMETHING ABOUT PROBLEMS WITH THE ACCELERATOR BEING SLUGGISH IN RESPONSE AND THE DEALER SAID THEY COULDN'T GET IT TO DUPLICATE THAT PROBLEM EITHER.

AT 84,220 MILES THE CHECK LIGHT ILLUMINATED. DIAGNOSIS WAS P0741 (BMW CODE 48) WHICH IS A FAULT WITH THE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH (TCC). THIS FAILURE UNTIL CORRECTED RESULTS IN LOWER FUEL MILEAGE, AND A GUARANTEED FAILURE TO PASS THE EMISSIONS TEST DURING STATE MANDATED VEHICLE INSPECTIONS. ADD TO THIS THAT CONTINUED USE OF THE VEHICLE WILL LIKELY RESULT IN TRANSMISSION DAMAGE SINCE THE TCC LOCKUP

I COULD PAY TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE CLOSEST MAZDA DEALERSHIP AND HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC DONE TO SEE IF THEY WOULD CONSIDER HONORING THE WARRANTY. THIS WOULD NOT BE APPLIED TO ANY NEEDED REPAIRS.
