I'm the very last owner of this car/vin. It is black ford focus 2016 SE. I had purchased this vehicle on November 23rd, 2020. I didn't have the car for a whole year. just recently the car(SAT July 3rd,2021)transmission light came on after I got an oil change. next day the car started to jerk as you accelerate, That same day the transmission started to over heat. At 70+ MPH the automatic transmission tried to drop into 1st gear while on the interstate in a passing lane with heavy traffic all around. It had a loud and physical clunk then began to lose power. It was erratic, disorienting and distracting. The sudden change in behavior of the vehicle could have caused me to lose control of the vehicle at speed on a federal interstate and could easily resulted
... in an accident causing major injury and damage. The dealer says the car has no fault codes and they have download "updates" to the software. To date they have no explanation for why the vehicle behaved in this manner. This is the second time I have taken the vehicle in for odd transmission behavior. I have a video of the dashboard during the event showing the speed, RPM, mileage and the gear selector gauge when the transmission attempted several times to shift from higher gears to the 1st gear. I shared the video with the dealer. The video I have was taken with a iPhone. It would not up load to your site. I can make it available. This is dangerous with no answers!Read more

I DROVE MY BRAND NEW TELLURIDE OFF THE LOT WITH APPROXIMATELY 12 MILES ON IT. ABOUT A MONTH AFTER HAVING IT I NOTICED THE FOLLOWING: WHEN ENTERING A HIGHWAY FROM ABOUT 20-25 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GRADUALLY ACCELERATE ALLOWING ME TO ENTER THE HIGHWAY. AS I CONTINUE TO PRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL THE RPMS WOULD EVENTUALLY JUMP UP AND THE VEHICLE WOULD LAUNCH ITSELF FORWARD. REACHING 5000-6000
... RPMS. WHEN I LET OFF THE ACCELERATOR THE ENGINE WOULD DOWNSHIFT SIMILAR TO A MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND WOULD JERK AS IT CHANGED GEARS AND THE RPMs DECREASE. ADDITIONALLY, WHEN CREEPING IN TRAFFIC I NOTICE JERKY AND HESITATION FROM THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION. THIS IS QUITE DANGEROUS AS ONE TIME IT ALMOST LAUNCHED ME INTO THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. MERGING ONTO A HIGHWAY IS ALSO QUITE DANGEROUS AS I AM NOT CONFIDENT THE VEHICLE WILL ACCELERATE WHEN I ATTEMPT TO MERGE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO A DEALERSHIP AND HAD THE TECHNICIAN DRIVE IT AND HE CONCURRED THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP HAS TRIED WORKING WITH THE MANUFACTURER BUT TO NO AVAIL AFTER 3 MONTHS. NOW THE DEALERSHIP WON'T EVEN CALL ME BACK. THE DEALERSHIP, VIA THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE MANUFACTURER, HAS RESET "ADAPTIVE VALUES" AT LEAST 3 TIMES, BUT THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. Purchased a new 2022 SUV Tucson on 5/22/21. While driving on a busy street 6/7/21 during work traffic the vehicle just cut off without warning. ... vehicle towed to closest Hyundai Dealership. This was dangerous vehicles were almost running into the back of my SUV while abruptly stopping. I exited the vehicle while waiting for the tow truck in fear of vehicle being hit placing myself and others at risk of an accident. Informed by Asst. Service Manager at Hyundai Dealership that no one was trained to work on the 2022 TUCSONs at the Dealership. As a Public Safety measure at least some employees at each dealership should be trained to work on all newly released vehicles before they are placed on the market. Notified on June 15, 2021 that the vehicle has a limp mode/ limp node problem. June 16, 2021 I was informed by Hyundai dealership that the 22 TUCSON has a mechanical defect, transmission fluid was leaking which now the Transmission needs to be replaced. The newly purchased vehicle currently has only around 370 miles on it. I thought vehicles go through an inspection before leaving factory and after they reach the dealership before being sold. This I consider to be another safety issue anything can happen during transport. A repurchase/buyback from Hyundai wasn't approved. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. After a 45 minute highway drive, I left my vehicle running in park to go run into a store briefly. Upon re-entering my car and shifting into reverse my engine revved but the car did not move. Initially I thought I was caught on a curb until all of a sudden the transmission caught an jolted the car backwards. I just barely managed to get the car home but after catching gears to move forward it woul
... d slip the engine would rev and then catch and jolt forward. Eventually it died and had to be pushed home. After reading online about this issue it seems common for this model and year, however my vehicle fell into a different made year. My big concern here is this happened without warning as seems to be the case with many other. Luckily i was a short ways from my destination and also parked in a parking lot when it first occurred, rather than doing 65 on the highway in the fast lane. A recall on all transmission from 2014 Ford Escapes should be activated to correct this issue. Multiple mechanics have mentioned it is a terrible year for the car, so clearly its common knowledge that Ford has slightly addressed. I do not care that I have to pay for this expensive fix, I am more concerned about it happening to other and severe accidents occurring.Read more

On June 23rd, I turned on my 2015 Ford Edge and heard a knocking/rattling noise coming from the engine that I had never heard before. It got worse when the A/C was on and while idling. It somewhat subsided while accelerating but became very loud again when I came to a stop. I took it to my local mechanic that is Ford trained, and after putting the car up, he indicated that he thought it was a b
... roken Flex Plate. He said it was good that I had come in because if I had ignored it and been driving on the freeway, my car could have just shut off - which I think we can agree is highly dangerous. There was never a warning light or any indication of a problem prior to hearing the rattling/knocking sound on June 23rd. My mechanic advised me to call Ford to see if there was anything they would be willing to do as the repair was costly. I called my local Ford dealership in Irvine, CA on Thursday, June 24th and the service manager said that since it went out of warranty in Oct 2020, that the repair would be out of pocket. My mechanic then advised me to call Ford Motor Company in Michigan to see if there was anything they could do or provide assistance with. I spoke with "[XXX]" at 11:30am, and she advised me that there were no programs available for my vehicle. I was in disbelief considering there is a recall on the very same part for 2016-2017 Ford Edges. She apologized and said there was nothing they could do. She provided a case number #[XXX] and said she would let her engineering department and the NHTSA. The total cost of the repair was $1,819.64 and the cost of my rental from Enterprise for the 5 days was $611.74. I have photos of the repair process as well as the actual cracked flexplate part. This should not happen on a vehicle with 44k miles on it and I certainly should not be footing the bill for it when Ford [XXX] well knows this is a manufacturing problem on their part. This complaint is about a known issue with certain Ford Vehicles related to the transmission molded leadframe. On May 26, 2021, I was accelerating onto a highway when my transmission downshifted from 4th gear to 1st gear and my speedometer and tachometer failed. Thankfully I was able to pull over safely and when re-started, the speedometer and tachometer came back up and the vehicle was driveabl
... e again. The next night, I experienced the same thing only I was in a parking lot and was again able to safely pull my vehicle over. I was not able to get an appointment at my local dealer until June 10th at which point they confirmed it was the leadframe and subject to the extended warranty. My complaint is that Ford was allowed to take the easy way out and wait for a failure of the faulty leadframe as opposed to this being a recall with proactive replacement. In my instance, I was not traveling at a high rate of speed. However, I was planning on taking the truck on a road trip on May 29th where if that had happened I would not have been so lucky. This issue is dangerous and needs to be under a full recall, not an extended warranty.Read more

On 6-12-21, I was driving with my children on the NJ Garden State Parkway & approximately 40 minutes into the ride, the RPM needles starting oscillating very quickly between gears. The car felt strange when I was trying to accelerate. The infotainment system froze at least 2 to 3 xs. We arrived at our destination, parked the car and turned it off. That evening as I was driving back home on the Parkway approx. 20 minutes into the drive the RPM needles started oscillating very quickly, the car started shifting gears and making loud sounds. I tried to move to the right shoulder as there was a lot of traffic but the car would not accelerate despite pressing hard on the gas pedal. A few minutes later a warning message displayed "Transmission temperature near limit. Performance may be reduced." I pulled the car over horrified. We called the dealership & Honda roadside service but they could send a tow truck because I was on a state highway. My husband came to get us and after an hour he was able to slowly drive the car on "sport mode" at about 25 m/p/h. We reported the incident to our dealership and Honda America operations & they have opened a case number. The vehicle was towed today to a local Honda dealer for assessment. THIS IS A SIGNFICANT SAFETY ISSUE THAT POSES RISK OF HARM AND DEATH TO DRIVERS. HONDA MARKETS THIS VEHICLE TO FAMILIES & MY FAMILY'S LIFE WAS PUT IN JEOPARDY IMMEDIATELY UPON PURCHASE. THIS CAR WAS OUT OF SERVICE WITHIN 48 HOURS OF SALE.Read more

The transmission failed while driving on a busy street making a left turn. My safety and my passenger's safety was at risk because there was oncoming traffic when I made a left turn and a car was trailing me. Just like another complaint, "10 speed transmission did not engage then failed less than a second later while pulling into an intersection. This caused the car to enter the intersection bu
... t fail to go forward more than a few feet. The problem resolved after three attempts to go forward by pumping the gas peddle. The transmission also was jerking or jumping from 1st through 3rd gear as if the car could not find the correct gear to be in while going forward. The problem resolved after the first mile of driving". However, for me the problem returned again once I turned the car off, and restarted it. After less than a mile of driving, the transmission began malfunctioning again jumping, and jerking until the transmission just stopped working altogether. Someone has posted experiencing the same malfunction on the same model and year vehicle and I wonder if there are others that have had the same scary, horrible experience? Due to my transmission malfunctioning during my turn, I was lucky that the oncoming car just stopped and blew at me, and the car behind me just went around me instead of crashing into my rear. The car was towed to the dealer and is in the process of being evaluated. There were no warning lights or messages prior to the incident and the automobile is now at the dealership because the vehicle totally stopped driving.Read more

Transmission slip: sudden hesitation on acceleration, sudden deceleration then acceleration on low speed, 'hiccup' on transmission shifting The issue happened since day one I leased the car. At the first oil change service, I reported to the dealership. The dealer performed transmission check and told me everything was 'normal'.
