I PURCHASED A 2000 HONDA ODYSSEY IN SEPTEMBER, 1999. AT APPROXIMATELY 42,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AND IT WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. NO RENTAL CAR WAS AVAILABLE FROM THE DEALERSHIP. APPROXIMATELY 49,000 MILES LATER THE FIRST REPLACEMENT WENT OUT AND IT HAD TO BE REPLACED AGAIN...THIS TIME UNDER WARRANTY WITH A WARNING THAT I WAS GETTING A BIG BREAK. ... THOUT A VEHICLE. NOW IT'S 45,000 MILES LATER AND THE SECOND REPLACEMENT IS ALSO DONE...THIS TIME THE CAR WAS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AS THE GEARS SLIPPED AND THERE WAS NO POWER TO ACCELERATE. THIS TIME I HAVE BEEN DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE OR COMPENSATION BY HONDA AND THE BILL FOR THE "NEW" TRANSMISSION IS $4,700. THIS IS DUE TO BEING OUTSIDE OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY OF 109,000 MILES. I LEFT THE CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP IN ORDER TO THINK ABOUT MY OPTIONS. THREE (3) TRANSMISSIONS IN 136,000 MILES. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I DID NOT HAVE A ACCIDENT, BUT MY TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO FAIL IN SUCH A MANNER THAT THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT KNOW WHAT GEAR IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE IN. WE ALSO SPOKE TO TWO DIFFERENT TRANSMISSION SHOPS THAT SAID THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM. THE NECESSARY PARTS THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED TO FIX THIS WERE A GOVERNOR COMPRESSION SOLENOID AND PRESSURE SWITCH. BOTH OF WHICH ARE LOCATED IN THE GEAR BOX JUST ABOVE THE PAN. THE PARTS WERE ONLY AVAILABLE FROM DODGE AND COST ABOUT $220.00 JUST FOR THE PARTS. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF DODGE HAS REPORTED THIS PROBLEM.
