Yesterday 11/30/25 we were going on the freeway about 60 mph, when suddenly I got the warning that my battery and acceleration were impacted due to a battery issue. States to service battery soon. It stayed that way as we were headed to have some blood work. That warning continued until the evening when it disappeared so thought it was a glitch. I still setup an appointment to have it checked at
... the dealership on Thursday 12/4/25 at 8:15am. On 12/1/25 at around 7:35am I was about to break at a light when I feel this jolt from my car and the same warning lights stayed on. I was really concerned so when I got off and went to work I immediately called the service department to move my appointment up to Tuesday 12/2/25 at 7am first thing. I dropped off the car at night for them to work on it. This seemed to impact also the Heater as it was cold air coming from my vents. I have seen this issue in Facebook and Reddit but felt I may not experience it as I had 8000+ miles on it with various long road trips. But now I am worried about the reliability and safety of this vehicle. Hope they can fix it and soon.Read more

Engine failed. Took car to Johnson City Kia dealership as advised by Kia of north America. The dealership said the engine failed due to carbon build up which is a problem with the engines, that it was not covered under warranty. I paid over $6,400 to have the engine replaced. When I was driving the car home the engine light came on and I lost power on the interstate causing me to almost get hit by
... a semi-truck. I took the car back to Kia of Johnson City Tn. the next day. Kia stated that the high-pressure fuel pump had went bad from the time I left the dealership and got home. I paid over $1,350 to replace a High-Pressure Fuel Pump. On the way home engine light and loss of power. I returned to Kia. They stated that gas had gotten into my oil. They changed the oil and I headed home, same issue engine light and loss of power. I told Kia of Johnson City I wanted a refund, and they could put the old part back on. Kia of Johnson City told me to take the car to another dealership that I was not getting a refund, and they would not fix my car. The engine codes and problems were the same as when I picked the car up from Kia. I have tried twice to have Kia of North America buy the car back due to it not being fixed and I do not feel safe in the car. I have taken the car to a Hyundai dealership in Johnson City Tn. and asked them to check the engine code and loss of power. Another $223.05. They stated the high-pressure fuel pump was defective. I am writing regarding my vehicle, a 2021 Kia Seltos LX - VIN Number [XXX] , which is subject to a recall NHTSA #25V099, Manufacturer Recall Number SC336. I was informed of the recall April 2025 and have since experienced engine stalling while driving on the highway with my young children with me, abnormal engine noise, complete oil loss and eventually complete engine failure. Unfortunately, thi
... s defect caused my vehicle to become unsafe and completely inoperable for the last 8 weeks. Kia said "We have completed the SC336 Piston Oil Ring recall, and your vehicle did pass. This means that the failure of the engine is not covered within the scope of that recall. This vehicle also does not have Kia warranty coverage active now due to age and miles. At this stage, Metro Kia does not have any further recourse for warranty coverage." My kia was stalling on the highway, complete oil loss where it was bone dry which led to engine failure. How did the vehicle "PASS" when EVERYTHING from the description of the recall is EXACTLY what happened to me? This is absolutely wild that Kia is refusing to do anything about this vehicle. It is a 2021, with 65,000 miles on it. The repairs are over 13K and I am being told I would get nothing for the car if I traded it in because it is worth nothing. Because of this situation, I have experienced a complete loss of transportation and have been relying on other methods of transportation and emptying my bank account for numerous towing visits to and from the dealership. Kia has not fixed the recall and instead quoted me over $13,000 to repair the car. I have enclosed copies of relevant documents, including the recall notice, service records, and any related correspondence. I messaged the BBB and attached Kia's response to that, as well as an email with the service advisor at Kia. I purchased a Ford Ranger truck with an EPA/NHTSA fuel economy label stating 20 mpg city and 25 mpg highway, 22 mpg combined. In reality, despite proper maintenance, the vehicle achieves only 16.26 mpg combined and as low as 14.72 mpg in city. While I understand fuel economy varies, this discrepancy is significant and may pose safety concerns. I relied on accurate fuel economy estimates to plan tr

I request NHTSA review whether Ford’s labeling practices meet regulatory standards and whether corrective action is warranted. I have taken the Ford Ranger to two different dealerships. One, Ford Automation, Frisco, Texas, refused to investigate what might be the issue, as they stated that was normal for the Ford Ranger. The second dealership, Five Star Ford, Dallas, Texas, reported in their tests they were averaging 26.1 mpg, combined. They did not tell me how they arrived at that figure. I am reporting a safety defect on my 2013 Kia Sorento (VIN: [XXX] ). Before the failure, the vehicle began experiencing sluggish starting, sputtering during acceleration, stalling when stopped at traffic lights or stop signs, a noticeable fuel odor, and eventually a check engine light. These symptoms increased over several days, and once the check engine light illuminated, we had the vehicle towe
... d to a Kia dealership for diagnosis. At the dealership, the problem was confirmed and reproduced by their technicians. They diagnosed: •Fuel leakage from the high-pressure fuel pressure regulator •Fuel contamination in the engine oil These components and diagnostic findings are available for inspection upon request. This issue poses a significant safety risk. Fuel leakage and fuel-in-oil contamination increase the potential for an engine fire, and the hesitation, sputtering, and stalling at intersections present a risk of unexpected loss of power in traffic, which could result in a collision. The vehicle previously had its engine replaced under a Kia recall in 2020, and the current symptoms are consistent with known Kia engine and fuel system defects addressed in past recalls and technical service bulletins. The vehicle has been inspected only by the dealership so far; it has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. Kia Consumer Affairs has been contacted and is reviewing the case. I am requesting that NHTSA review this issue as a potential defect trend involving the high-pressure fuel system on this model, especially in vehicles with prior recall-related engine replacements. Documentation from the dealership, including the diagnostic report and repair estimate, is available upon request. This issue actually started in November of 2022. Driving down from the mountains the car started losing power. I took the car to the dealership on Monday. They replaced the battery and the issue was resolved (I don’t recall the exact month the battery was replaced). November 2
... 9,2025, I started my car and when I accelerated to about 30+ miles the car started to hesitate and it felt as if the car was going to stop. The check engine light came on and stayed on. I had over a half a tank of gas and temperature was around 28-30 degrees. I drove the car for about 2 miles to fill up to make the drive to my house. The distance is about 170 miles. Once the tank was full, I started up with no issues of shaking/hesitation/loss of power. Monday December 1,2025, Two days later. Started the car. Check engine light came on/car was vibrating/hesitation when giving gas. Drove to the dealership for them to check what the issue is. I noticed there are two other reported issues with the same/similar issue. At this moment, I’m waiting for the dealership to advise what the issue is/how to resolve the issue. It would be beneficial if service bulletins were added in the recall section. That could help fix problems faster and help make recalls faster.Read more

Vehicle: 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe Limited Issue Type: Fuel System / Fuel Gauge / EVAP / Hybrid Interaction Safety Concern: Incorrect fuel-level indication, fuel overflow, unreliable range estimation Description of the Problem: The vehicle’s fuel gauge and range indicator have become inaccurate and erratic. The gauge showed about 95 miles remaining, then dropped rapidly to a low-fuel warning
... . At the gas station, the pump shut off at approximately 8 gallons, even though the vehicle indicated low fuel. When I manually resumed fueling, gasoline immediately overflowed from the filler neck. There was no gasoline smell prior to this event. After driving away from the station, the remaining range increased, then decreased again, fluctuating by about ±10 miles. The fuel gauge and range readings continue to be inconsistent and unreliable. These symptoms began recently and are getting worse. The vehicle is currently being operated in Hybrid mode only due to an existing recall advising not to charge the battery. This issue creates a safety risk because: The fuel gauge may not reflect the true fuel level, Overflow during refueling poses a fire hazard, and EVAP or tank-pressurization malfunction may be occurring. Frequency: Problem has occurred on multiple consecutive refueling attempts. Safety Risk: Fuel overflow, inaccurate gauge, possible stalling or running out of fuel unexpectedly. Dealer: Issue reported; diagnosis pending. No modifications have been made to the vehicle.Read more

My 2023 Ford Escape Plug-In Hybrid has experienced repeated high-voltage battery safety issues and prolonged loss of intended function. In February 2025, Ford notified me under recall 24S79 that I must immediately stop charging the vehicle due to the risk of internal battery cell short, potential battery thermal venting, and fire. That “do not charge” instruction lasted approximately six month
... s, eliminating the core plug-in hybrid functionality of the vehicle. Ford originally stated the remedy would be available in Q2 2025, but the repair was not completed until late August 2025. The recall documentation stated that an internal battery cell short could cause the “Stop Safely Now” warning and sudden loss of motive power, which presents a serious safety risk while driving, especially when transporting my family. During the “do not charge” period the vehicle’s plug-in hybrid capability was unusable, and Ford acknowledged the risk of fire and loss of power. In November 2025, I received a new high-voltage battery recall 25SC4 (NHTSA 25V789) for the same general hazard category (internal short, potential fire, loss of motive power). The new recall states that no remedy is available at this time. This means the vehicle is again subject to a serious unresolved safety defect involving the same critical system. The repeated battery failures and the absence of a current fix create an ongoing safety concern, and the vehicle cannot be reliably used or sold during this open recall with no remedy. I am requesting NHTSA review the repeated HV battery defects, extended loss of plug-in hybrid functionality, delayed first recall remedy, and the current “no remedy available” condition, and assess whether further investigation or corrective action is needed for these vehicles.Read more

Let me Preface this with, my Make, Model, and year for these problems have been recalled back in 2021, however I was not the owner then and my VIN was not listed as an affected vehicle i guess, nonetheless the problem is exactly the same as experienced by those that were listed on the recalls in the past. Im the 2nd owner of this vehicle and I have owned it for almost 3 years now. In July 202
... 5 after a summer rain in so. cal, I was a couple blocks from home running errands and after being stopped at a light, i began to accelerate and felt like the vehicle was loosing power, I made it home but definitely not able to go the speed limit and once i got home I couldnt shift it into any gear and the vehicle would not turn off. So I had to remove the fuses under the hood, I left them out for a few hours and let the car sit off in my garage during that time. I later came back put the fuses back in and then the car wouldnt turn over. I had it taken to the dealership by AAA and thats when i first learned of the sunroof leak, I contacted Volvo Headquarters and got no help and explained all of the same to the service dept at the dealership working on my car. Long story short the dealership allegedly found water under my interior carpet which obviously damaged modules, I am still paying on that repair. Fast forward to October 2025, same thing all over again only this time the dealership tells me essentially its on the house, however they had my car 3 weeks and did no repairs only got water out of it once again and “brushed off some corrosion”. When I pick it up, it immediately starts funny, i turn the car off and walk right back into the service dep t& raise my concern, to which i was told they had no problem with a hard start up, and we go out to my car & it starts up fine, so i leave 4 days after I got my car back, the check engine light comes on, & immediate warning of reduction of engine power & sure enough thats what it did. today it enters safety mode & wont startRead more

2017 Honda CR V- Hybrid (under 10 year under 150,000 miles) All warning lights on the dashboard—including the Check Engine Light, Oil Pressure Warning, Battery Warning Light, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Light, Brake System Warning, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) Light, Fuel Level Warning Light, and Engine Temperature Warning Light—activated intermittently. This issue intermittentl
... y occurred each time the vehicle was started, with symptoms lasting from a few days up to several weeks. The warning lights would temporarily resolve, with periods lasting from a few days to several months. The vehicle's battery was replaced twice within one year, which seemed to temporarily alleviate the issue; however, the warning lights recurred afterward. Recently, Honda was able to conduct a thorough diagnosis with the lights going off and seems to have identified the root cause, leading to the replacement of the spark plugs and fuel injectors at an approximate cost of $2,000. If unaddressed, this issue could pose safety risks such as rough idling, decreased fuel efficiency, engine misfires, difficulty starting, poor acceleration, unexpected stalling, sudden complete loss of power, and electrical problems. This issue is recognized by Honda and is currently covered under a recall for the 2023-2025 Honda Pilot and the 2023-2025 Honda Accord Hybrid. While the Honda Accord Hybrid and Honda CR-V Hybrid share the same fuel injection system as part of Honda’s two-motor hybrid-electric powertrain, the Honda CR-V Hybrid has not yet been included in this recall. Nonetheless, many Honda CR-V Hybrid owners are experiencing similar issues and are incurring repair costs out of pocket. The high-voltage battery on my 2022 Nissan Leaf is subject to Recall 25V655. The recall notice states that the battery cells can develop excessive lithium deposits, which increases electrical resistance and can cause rapid battery heating during Level 3 fast charging. Nissan instructs owners not to use Level 3 charging at all until a “remedy” is available. EVGO, one of the major lv3 chargers
... refuses service from customers with Leafs as well at this time, forcing me to rent a vehicle for long distance family trips this holiday season. The issue is that the remedy described by Nissan is not an actual repair of the battery defect. Nissan states it will install software that monitors for “state-of-charge fluctuation” and, if detected, will prevent the vehicle from restarting or recharging in order to avoid a thermal incident. This means the defect inside the battery cells is still present, and the car may disable itself if the defect begins to appear. The recall materials also state there is no warning before overheating occurs. This creates multiple safety concerns: • The underlying battery defect remains uncorrected. • The vehicle can become immobilized (unable to restart or recharge) if the software detects the condition. • Loss of Level 3 charging capability affects the ability to travel safely or plan charging when needed. • A battery fire risk exists during Level 3 charging if the defect is not detected in time. Nissan’s documents state that the software is meant only to prevent the “progression” of a thermal incident, not to repair the defective battery. I am concerned that my vehicle contains a known hazardous defect that has not been physically repaired and that the software-only response is inadequate to ensure safety. I am filing this complaint so NHTSA is aware that the remedy being offered does not address the internal battery defect itself and may leave owners exposed to continued safety and reliability risks.Read more

My vehicle has an ongoing acceleration problem that feels like the engine and transmission are not communicating correctly. There are times when the vehicle will not accelerate even though the RPMs increase. Instead of picking up speed, it feels like the engine is pulling the vehicle back. This creates hesitation and uncertainty about whether the car will respond when I press the accelerator. Thi
... s happens most noticeably at lower speeds (around 30–40 mph, often near 30 mph), where the RPMs may rise on their own even if I am maintaining steady pressure on the gas pedal. It also occurs when I need to accelerate quickly — such as merging onto the freeway or joining the flow of traffic — and the vehicle feels like it resists gaining speed. Even when I press the pedal gradually and correctly, the vehicle struggles to accelerate and the engine revs without the car moving forward as it should. I reported this to the dealership. They ran diagnostics and told me no issues were detected. They also stated they cannot take action unless they can re-create the problem themselves. Because this does not happen every time, recreating it on command is very unlikely, leaving me without a solution. This is a safety concern because hesitation or failure to accelerate properly during merging or crossing traffic increases the risk of collisions. The problem remains unresolved.Read more

From the moment I purchased the vehicle, HGreg Nissan withheld essential information and misled me about its condition and warranty status. They told me the vehicle had a “bumper-to-bumper” warranty valid until October 2025 because it was a 2022 model, but they never informed me about the actual manufacturer warranties (5-year and 8-year EV warranties), which remain active and override any ext
... ended warranty they sold me. To justify selling me a six-year extended warranty through NESNA, HGreg Nissan hid the fact that the manufacturer warranties were still in effect. They also added three additional warranties I explicitly said I did not want. All documents were signed on a tablet, and I was never given physical copies. The USB they provided did not include any warranty information. I repeatedly requested the warranty documents and received no response. NESNA later confirmed that the extended warranty could not be activated because the manufacturer warranty was still active. HGreg Nissan also failed to disclose that the vehicle had been part of a commercial fleet in California, was auctioned, retitled, and then sold to me as if it were a clean personal-use vehicle. Since day one, the vehicle has experienced serious and repeated failures: electrical system malfunctions, powertrain warnings, brake system faults, vacuum pump failures, sudden loss of power, reduced speed mode, and spontaneous shutdowns. The vehicle is unsafe and is currently completely inoperable. HGreg Nissan sold me a defective vehicle, concealed critical history, misrepresented warranty coverage, added unwanted contracts, and refused to provide documentation or support. These failures pose a serious safety risk to me and other drivers.Read more

My 2022 Ford E-Transit has experienced repeated electrical, propulsion, and powertrain failures that cause the vehicle to become completely inoperable. On September 8, the van displayed multiple critical alerts including powertrain malfunction, brake system failure, vacuum pump failure, and full electrical system fault, and it would not start. The next day, the same failure occurred again and the
... van had to be towed. The dealer replaced the 12V battery without proper diagnosis and returned the vehicle with all warning lights still on. A technician privately stated that the issue was more complex than the battery and that the system had only been reset, not repaired. No written authorization for the repair was requested, and the underlying electrical/propulsion failure was never addressed. Five days later, the vehicle became fully inoperable again with the exact same failures. These repeated shutdowns and inability to start happen without warning and create a serious safety hazard because the van can lose all function while parked or potentially while driving. The system faults affect essential components related to braking, propulsion, and overall vehicle control. The pattern indicates a significant defect in the electrical and propulsion systems of the vehicle, and the problem persists despite attempted service. The vehicle is unsafe and unreliable due to recurring total system failure.Read more

At 5 am in the morning the car suddenly failed and indicated it was an engine or transmission failure in the middle of a four lane major intersection in a downtown area. It was dangerous due to the darkness, and poor visibility. I had to abandon the vehicle as it was dangerous to stay with it while waiting for police. I could have been injured (as could others) due to its sudden failure in the int
... ersection of a busy roadway. Chevrolet dealership states it is the fuel pump driver module. The car is currently at the dealership for repair. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure until the car suddenly lost power. Once it lost power the engine light lit up and shortly after I had exited the vehicle, I began receiving messages from "On Star" telling me that there were engine or transmission problems. Meanwhile I stood in the pouring rain in an unsafe neighborhood, leaning out into traffic to try and stop cars from running head on into my car for over 30 minutes waiting for police.Read more

.I am submitting this complaint regarding the handling of two safety recalls affecting my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4-Door 4xe, which I learned about through my “November Vehicle Health Report” email on November 22, 2025. Since then, I have been in ongoing communication with Jeep, Chrysler Customer Care, and Mopar; however, they have not provided sufficient guidance. 1) Recall 68C: The Vehicle Healt
... h Report included a link to the FCA recall notice advising owners to “refrain from recharging” and to “park away from structures and other vehicles.” Chrysler emailed on November 26 offering a 30-day rental reimbursement tied only to Recall 68C, but the amount does not cover an equivalent or safe winter-capable vehicle for our region. 2) Recall 78C: I have been unable to obtain clear information regarding Recall 78C. The Vehicle Health Report included minimal details and no link to the FCA documentation. I found the Part 573 Safety Recall Report (25V766) on the NHTSA website while trying to determine if the vehicle was safe to drive. Chrysler Customer Care repeatedly avoids answering whether a “do not drive” advisory exists for 78C and continually redirects me to the 68C guidance. The NHTSA representative I spoke with was also unsure why Chrysler did not select either advisory checkbox (Do Not Drive / Park Outside) on page 3 of the 78C report, leaving owners without essential guidance. 3) Impact on Safety and Daily Life: My household relies on a single vehicle. With no safety guidance for 78C and an engine warning light that appeared on October 3, 2025—along with electric mode not functioning that day, which required service at the Jeep dealership—we determined it was safest not to drive the vehicle. We have now been without transportation for seven days. We kindly ask NHTSA to help us (and other customers) secure clear 78C safety guidance and an equivalent transportation solution until the recall is resolved.Read more

This is a supplemental filing to my prior NHTSA complaint (#11697718) regarding a high-voltage isolation fault and shutdown risk. The vehicle displayed warnings including “vehicle may shut down during driving,” “may not charge,” and repeated BMS isolation fault messages. It became inoperable at a public charging station. The manufacturer confirmed isolation faults in the drive unit and th
... e A/C compressor. Their own service notes stated that the vehicle “may shut down during regular driving” and that charging “may not be safe.” Despite this, the vehicle was left at 0% state of charge for an extended period and then charged by the manufacturer. They later stated to a regulator that the vehicle was “trickle charged at 1 amp for 6 hours,” but the vehicle’s range increased by approximately 100 miles, which is not physically possible at that charging current (1 amp at 240V for 6 hours = 1.44 kWh ≈ 4–5 miles). This discrepancy suggests the vehicle may have been charged at a higher rate than claimed and without proper cooling, despite the documented A/C failure that is necessary for battery thermal management. Battery condition is unknown because the manufacturer refused to perform or provide a battery health analysis, isolation resistance values, thermal logs, or charging session data. The safety defect could not be verified as repaired. While this safety issue remained unresolved, the manufacturer rejected a Tesla roadside tow arranged under regulator instruction to second service center and instead arranged an unauthorized tow to remove the vehicle from their facility without my consent. The vehicle was taken to a non-manufacturer storage lot while still in an unsafe state. I am concerned about: • high-voltage isolation faults, • shutdown risk during driving, • unsafe charging performed by the manufacturer, • possible battery damage from low SOC and charging without A/C cooling, and • mishandling of an active safety defect. The vehicle is available for inspection.Read more

The vehicle has had repeated issues related to the fuel system, including strong fuel odor inside the cabin, a gurgling sound coming from the fuel tank area, and recurring check engine lights shortly after a previous recall repair was completed. The most recent diagnostic from the dealer indicated a faulty fuel tank pressure sensor (G400), but I was initially told the vehicle needed a fuel pressur
... e release valve. There has been inconsistency in the diagnostics and explanations provided to me. The fuel smell in the cabin and apparent pressure issues in the tank created a safety concern for me and my passengers, especially while driving with windows closed or using cabin heat. I am concerned about a potential fuel leak or improper tank venting. The problem has occurred multiple times, including at least five check engine lights after the recall repair. The dealer has inspected the vehicle several times, but the issue has not been fully resolved, and additional related parts (such as the tank shutoff valve) were recommended for replacement. Warning lights included repeated check engine indicators, and the fuel odor occurred each time the issue recurred. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.Read more
