The ICCU in my Hyundai Ioniq 5 failed catastrophically today ([XXX]) after only 3109 mlles. I believe this to be the case because: • I heard a loud pop from behind me in the car. • The car immediately lost power and would only go very slowly. • An alert about the electrical system immediately came on and told me to stop driving as soon as possible. • A rather loud alarm sounded. • DTC P

This vehicle has had multiple incidents of surging of the propulsion system both on battery power and when powered by the internal combustion engine, causing loss of propulsion and sudden acceleration almost causing collisions multiple times. We have paid for over $4,000 in repairs that are not covered under the propulsion system warranty, and these repairs have not remedied the issue.

I had a recall done by local Acura dealer, Miami Doral Acura, where they replaced parts that connected the engine to the car, they are like rods. I recently took the car to a mechanic because I needed to change the timing belt components and he advised me that one of the rods that were replaced failed. This means that the engine was attached by only one rod, the other rod was cut, not connected. I
... called Acura today reporting the issue with the recall, they gave me a case number 16125924, advising me that some one would get back to me. The same mechanic also advised me that the high pressure fuel pump was not working properly and that my car could stall while driving it and he advised that it would be dangerous to drive it without replacing it. The part he quoted me was around $700. I looked for recalls for this car with this fuel pump issue and found that Acura only recalled some VIN numbers and my car is not one of the VIN numbers recalled. I believe Acura has not recalled all cars involved with the pressure pump. I find it hard to believe that they are not aware of this issue affecting more of the 2018 MDX model. The recall with the rods failed just a year after they replaced them. I had the rod recall done in 1/25. I cannot drive the car until I have the mechanic replace the high pressure fuel pump and fix the problem with the engine rod recall. Acura needs to be heal accountable and compensate owners that are dealing with the same issue I am.Read more

I received a recall letter in August 2025 stating there is is possible for fuel injector to crack which may result in fuel accumulating on the top of the engine. serious safety-related defects in my 2023 Kia K5 involving the fuel/emissions system &other vehicle components. From early ownership & throughout the lease period, the vehicle experienced repeated& unresolved issues including fuel system abnormalities, emissions failures, fuel odors, check engine light activation, abnormal noises, &performance concerns consistent with fuel pressure or fuel tank-re
... lated problems. I reported these issues multiple times to the dealership &to Kia Consumer Affairs beginning well within the first 24 months of the lease, continuing for over a year. Despite repeated complaints and service visits, the vehicle was repeatedly returned to me- deemed safe to drive, my concerns were ignored. In June 2024, the dealership identified fuel tank expansion, confirming the same safety concerns I had been reporting. In November 2025, Kia issued Safety Recall SC356 (NHTSA Recall No. 25V794), stating that a damaged check valve can allow air to enter the fuel tank, causing expansion, contact with hot exhaust components, melting, and increased fire risk. My vehicle is included in this recall, which remains incomplete, &I was never notified while the defects were actively occurring. Prior to the recall and before the fuel tank expansion was diagnosed, I paid significant out-of-pocket costs in March and April 2024 for emissions-related repairs based on representations that the vehicle was safe to drive. This vehicle was intended as a graduation gift for a minor, & minors in my household regularly operated it. Kia’s continued assurances that the vehicle was safe, despite known and reported defects, placed my family, especially minors, at serious risk of injury or death. In addition to fuel/emissions issues, the vehicle had persistent seat defects and other unresolved problems that were never fully repaired. The manufacturer ultimately acknowledged the vehicle is irreparable. The recall confirms the safety concerns.I raised were valid and serious.in shop 600daysRead more

On Saturday, 11/29/25 @ 3PM, while driving on I-75 from GA to MIA, our 2022 Suburban VIN: [XXX] sudden & unexpected had a mechanical failure. Without warning, vehicle stalled/ stop while traveling at highway speed, leaving us seconds to maneuver to the side. This failure created an extremely dangerous situation that could have resulted catastrophic or fatal accident for my family. Check engine li
... ght came on (code P102A). An officer stopped to assist & arranged car to be tow which we had to pay $135 to nearest Chevrolet dealership. Since the dealership was closed, I was forced to stay an additional night in a nearby hotel and paid $106.46. The vehicle was inspected by Countryside Chevrolet, who diagnosed the issue as a failure of the fuel pump control module however I was informed that this VIN was not covered under warranty or any special coverage, despite the fact that we experienced the exact same failure on our 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe, which was covered under warranty for this same defect. I was forced to pay $708.72 for the repair. This inconsistency is unacceptable—especially considering GMs extensive history of complaints, recalls, & class action litigation involving defective fuel pump & fuel system components, which present a well-documented safety risk. I filed a complaint with GM Customer Care (Case XXX). I submitted all required receipts for repairs, towing & hotel, however GM denied my claim without providing any explanation, only stating VIN was “not covered.” Also, GM refused to provide a written justification & my request for a manager callback was ignored. No consideration was given to the safety implications of this failure. This response is unacceptable & demonstrates a failure to take responsibility for a known safety defect. Demand: Given the seriousness of this incident, the documented defect, & GM’s prior knowledge of same failures, I demand full refund of $950.18 for expenses. This situation could have ended tragically. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIARead more

I am submitting a safety complaint regarding my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe (plug-in hybrid), VIN: 1C4RJYB69RC714841, due to repeated loss of propulsion events while driving, including during highway merging. On multiple occasions, the vehicle has: Shifted into neutral without any driver input and failed to accelerate while merging onto a highway, behaving as though it was stuck in a gear or in
... a protective failsafe state Most recently, while accelerating onto a highway, the vehicle would not respond to the accelerator pedal, forcing me to pull off the roadway. I had to place the vehicle into Park, wait briefly, and then resume driving in order to restore propulsion. Twice i had to perform this on the on ramp. Very dangerous! These are the most recent incidents that have occurred, but the issue has happened at least half a dozen times before. Only now, more often. While driving in Hybrid mode (on January 17th, 18th with my daughter present; also occurred on Jan 22 (after leaving Jeep dealer and having performed TCM & PCM updates), Jan. 23 & 24) With the hybrid battery depleted (normal operating condition) With no warning lights, alerts, or messages displayed before or during the events The vehicle was taken to an authorized Jeep dealership (Safford Brown in Sterling, VA), where PCM and TCM software updates were completed, and the dealer reported “no issues found.” Despite this, the loss of propulsion issue has continued to occur. This condition presents a serious safety risk, particularly during highway merging and acceleration, where the inability to accelerate could result in a collision. The issue appears to be intermittent and does not consistently trigger fault codes or warning indicators. I am requesting that NHTSA review this issue for potential investigation, as it involves unexpected loss of drive power while the vehicle is in motion. Thank you for your attention to this matter. The Gas Door did not open in order to pump gasoline. There is no mechanical device for the driver, passenger, owner of the vehicle to manually open the gas door from the inside. There was no electronic warning within the Mercedes Benz to alert driver about malfunction of gas door not working. Driver took vehicle to local Firestone mechanic who said the "gas door actuator" needed to be replaced. Ac
... cordingly, vehicle with the remaining gasoline was taken to local Mercedes Dealer who after the vehicle being looked at, "confirmed gas door to not opening due to internal mechanical fault" and replaced with new gas door actuator at a cost of $820.28. Vehicle owner mentioned to service rep, that he lives from parents about 150 miles away and had the vehicle owner stopped at gas station in between, the vehicle owner would have been stranded without any access to a dealer to fix this critical safety issue. Vehicle owner then advised service rep this issue should have been elevated as critical safety recall issue and that a complaint would be filed with NHTSA. Any vehicle owner, their family if being transported in a deserted place hoping to go to the next gas station for pumping gas would have faced a severe danger to their self and their families. Vehicle owner has sent a detailed letter to Mercedes Benz corporate office in USA detailing the incident and a copy of the letter will be attached as an attachment if it is permitted in this complaint. Requesting a recall of this issue with an order for reimbursement of service charges paid by vehicle owners to fix this "malfunction of gas door". There are multiple complaints to this effect on various message boards regarding the occurrences of "gas door not opening". This also needs to be looked at.Read more

I bought a Subaru Forrester 2025 in March of 2025. I drove this car for almost 9 months to the day. On 12-19 -25 I was driving down the aisle in the Walmart parking lot at less than 10 mph. I turned right into a handicap parking lot and applied my brake as I was settling into the parking space. I was driving less than 5 mph as one normally would when parking and coming to a stop. My car accelera
... ted quickly and with great speed and since my front wheels were still turned toward the right, my car sped toward the cement encased parking sign at a high rate of speed. I was in disbelief. I backed up to be in the proper space and got out and surveyed the damages. Thankfully I was alone in the car and due to the handicapped parking signs ahead and to the right of the parking spot I did not cross the marked lot lines and no other vehicles were involved. The car was not driveable so I had the it towed to the dealership and found they did not have a body shop. Then engaged a body shop to repair. Estimate of damages is $6,820. My car is still there today. It is now Jan 25 and we are waiting on a few replacement parts. At first I thought I might have stepped on the gas instead of the brake as I was parking that night. But all common sense tells me that my foot was properly on the brake as I was finishing up my parking maneuver at a very slow rate of speed. I looked around the internet and see that these same circumstances were replicated by other drivers esp. on the 2012-2020 models of Forresters. I had no prior knowledge of what I consider to be a significant fault in this vehicle. I did receive widespread bruising to my chest from the seatbelt. Once my car is repaired I will take it back to the dealer to have several systems checked for errors. I am leery of driving it again. I am really not in a position to buy a different vehicle but it may come to that. Altho the police report states that I may have hit the gas, upon further reflection I don’t feel that is trueRead more

I have a 2024 GMC Denali that had an engine service appointment in September 2025 for the engine recall where they did an oil change & put in performance grade oil & scoped my engine. Rochester Serra GMC said they sent all the engine pictures to GM and my engine was okay according to them. ... e took the truck back to Serra GMC Rochester and they replaced the oil filter that they said was defective & an oil change was done after my husband requested that just filling up the oil was not okay. They also told us the engine light didn’t show up on their computer system and it must have cleared out, so nothing was done for that. Today 1/25/26 now about a month later my engine light is back on and has remained on with multiple starts. This is not acceptable and needs to be investigated and I want this escalated. I do not feel comfortable driving my truck with this engine light on with a known engine propulsion recall that has no actual cure. The oil replacement and cap change has done nothing and engine light remains on. I just don’t want to hear the same thing that the computer must have cleared the error code. My engine light is on for a reason and I’m asking for a thorough diagnostic test to be done by a certified technician and a get a valid explanation of why my engine light keeps going on & not just changing my oil or waiting for something catastrophic to happen to me or my family. GM is putting me and my family at risk by saying that my truck’s engine is fine when clearly the engine light keeps repeatedly going on for 3 months in a row now since November 17, 2025.Read more

I own a 2022 Ram 1500 with a 5.7-liter V8 equipped with the eTorque (mild hybrid) system. On October 24, 2025, at approximately 1:30 p.m., I was driving southbound on I-25 when the battery warning light illuminated, followed by several other warning indicators on the dashboard. Shortly thereafter, the dashboard went completely dark, and I suddenly lost power steering. At that point, the truck was
... moving only on momentum. While I was able to brake and activate my emergency hazard lights, the vehicle eventually came to a stop on its own in a lane in the middle of the highway. Fortunately, traffic was moving slowly due to it being a Friday afternoon. This was a frightening and dangerous experience, particularly due to the sudden loss of power steering. I could have collided with another vehicle, or another vehicle could have struck me. I feared for my safety during this incident. The truck was eventually towed to a nearby Ram dealership, where the battery was replaced. I was informed that the battery had failed and, as a result, caused the entire vehicle to shut down. Approximately two months later, I began hearing a ticking noise from the engine—commonly referred to as the “Chrysler tick.” I had to return the vehicle to the dealership for a second time. Ram ultimately replaced the engine; however, I was required to pay approximately $3,000 out of pocket for the repair. Given these serious and costly issues, I am no longer confident in the reliability of the brand.Read more

The fuel pump for the engine is known for failing due to ethanol in the fuel reacting with the bare aluminum. Harley Davidson has recognized this issue with the newer model but has not recalled any of its previous models. This could cause a serious safety risk for the rider or other pedestrians on the roadway as this could cause the bike to suddenly lose all power causing an accident. Many people
... have mentioned this known issue but Harley Davidson still refuses to seal the aluminum tanks or replace the tank with the later model ones that are already sealed. Harley Davidson’s solution for this problem has been to continue replacing the fuel pump with a new one identical to the one that failed at the customers expense. No warning lamps or messages appear when the pump is failing or completely failed occasionally riders have stated they begin hearing a growling or screeching sound from the tank soon before failure. Others have stated that the fuel pump has left them stranded or in a dangerous situation due to the pump failing while on the roadway with no warning. A recall to reseal or replace the tanks on older model years needs to be done to ensure the safety of the rider and others on the roadway.Read more

While driving on a road trip from Charleston, South Carolina to Florida in January of 2023 the factory installed catalytic converter failed (front facing) clogging the exhaust system and damaging the engine (engine now experiences blow by and pistons rings have been damaged). A recall for the overheating of the catalytic converter was marked as repaired before I bought the car. However, I believe
... that either the update was not done to the on-board computer or that a damaged catalytic converter was not replaced. This directly led to the subsequent failure in question and has since damaged my engine. At the time of the incident, an investigation of both catalytic converters revealed heavy sediment deposits and the core of the filtering component of the front facing unit had become so corroded that a chunck of it had broken loose and become lodged in the connecting hose that linked it to the rest of the exhaust system, leaving the entire system blocked. Because I bought the car used, I wasn't aware of the recall history at the time of purchase. Nor was I given a vehicle history report or receipts for any work that had previously been done. When I pulled a vehicle history report shortly after the incident I was unable to accertain what the actual repairs to the car were previous to my ownership, just that it had been taken to a Kia dealership for service with dates listed. The issues still remain and I am unable to afford the lengthy and very expensive repairs suggested by multiple mechanics to correct them. I also still owe money on the note as the result of having to deal with a predatory business to secure financing in the first place. I hate to think I was taken advantage of but I can't help but feel like the catalytic converter should have been changed during that previously marked recall repair and clearly wasn't. Please help me figure out what went wrong here and if possible help me remedy this situation, especially if there was indeed fraud involved. Thank youRead more

incidents Summary: The vehicle experienced a significant engine compartment fire while in operation. The fire originated in the engine valley near the secondary fuel filter, consistent with the failure mode described in NHTSA Investigation PE24014. 1. Component Failure & Part Numbers: The fire necessitated an $18,000 repair (RO #443426). Based on the repair invoice, the following safety-critical
... components were heat-destroyed and replaced: Secondary Fuel Filter (PC3Z9N184C) Main Engine Wiring Harness (HC3Z12B637A) Inlet Manifold (GC4Z9424A) High-Pressure Fuel Pipes (HC3Z9J280J and BC3Z9E964A) Cowl Grilles (HC3Z25022A68AB/69AC) 2. Safety Risk & Pre-Existing Symptoms: Prior to the fire, the engine exhibited a "surging" idle and erratic RPM behavior, which was reported to the dealer. After the replacement of the aforementioned fuel and electrical components, the surging issue was immediately resolved, confirming the original symptom was a precursor to the fuel system failure. While no injuries occurred, the fire presented an immediate risk of occupant injury and total vehicle loss. 3. Disposal of Evidence (Spoliation): Despite an active liability dispute and an ongoing manufacturer investigation, the dealership (AutoNation Ford Valencia) admitted in writing that they disposed of the failed secondary fuel filter and the main wiring harness. These primary pieces of evidence are currently unavailable for federal or forensic inspection due to the dealer's actions. 4. Confirmation: The fire damage was confirmed by the dealership, and I have paid the repair invoice UNDER PROTEST to retrieve the property. I am seeking a review of this incident under the scope of PE24014.Read more

I am reporting a dealership conduct issue that directly affected vehicle safety and caused financial loss. Valley Ford of Columbus, Ohio told me by phone that a specific safety-related part for my vehicle was in stock and available. Based on that representation, I traveled to the dealership and took time away from work. When I arrived, I was told the part was not available and had not been there.
... Shortly after this, I went out of town. During that time, Valley Ford stated they were unable to reach me. After returning, I again contacted Valley Ford and was once more told that the same safety-related part was available. I again traveled to the dealership, taking additional time off work, and once again was told upon arrival that the part was not available. This resulted in the same situation happening twice. Because of this repeated misinformation, I lost wages and hard-earned paid time off (PTO), was delayed in repairing my vehicle, and had to continue driving while waiting for a safety-related component I was told was available. I use my vehicle for work every day for approximately eight hours per day. Being forced to continue operating my vehicle without this safety-related repair places myself and other motorists at risk. After these incidents, I contacted Germain Ford of Columbus, Ohio in an effort to resolve the issue. I was informed that the same safety-related part could take up to eight weeks to become available. This extended delay has further prolonged my inability to complete necessary safety-related repairs and has continued to place me in a potentially unsafe driving situation. I believe this repeated misinformation and prolonged unavailability of a safety-related vehicle component is dangerous and unacceptable. I am submitting this complaint so NHTSA is aware of the actions of Valley Ford of Columbus, Ohio and the ongoing delay reported by Germain Ford of Columbus, Ohio.Read more

They weren’t even able to look at the car for a week charged me $250 for a diagnosis… After a week 1/2 dealership finally told me it would be over $3000 to repair.. NO! I had to pay to tow it back. I’ve been without a vehicle for five months. When the fuel injectors went out, it also damaged the high-pressure fuel rail, the high pressure fuel pump, and various sensors. This is dangerous, I live in a very rural area. It stopped operating out of the blue. It chugged/bumped a few times, and it was dead. This is inconvenient, and It’s dangerous, especially during the winter time where temperatures reach -20 regularly and no cell phone signals. I believe Hyundai is well aware, of the problem. In fact the service manager had mentioned that the parts were on backorder because apparently they are in quite high demand. No fuel injector should be going out in 15,000 or 20,000 miles, causing systemic failure. Hundai has made no effort to redesign failed parts. It’s quite disheartening, to replace/repair with a new defective part. That is going to go bad, in just a few thousand miles!! Im retired, on a fixed income. I bought new, so I wouldn’t have issues. Paying new prices, to drive junk. I’d just drop it off @ dealers, and walk away.. But the loan, is so upside down that isn’t even possible.Read more

Well the engine definitely failed to provide power for me to drive my vehicle. And as I am doing more and more research on what the PTU does, which is what there is a recall on. It appears the PTU not working correctly on my vehicle affected the engine, and the ability for car to properly utilize oil, thus affecting the operation of the cylinders 1 and 4 on my vehicle. I am being told I need a ne
... w engine however, I believe the PTU problem directly affected my engine because everything that happens with the failure of the PTU is similar things that happen with the failure of my engine, thus the two really are related. And if the PTU "talks to" the engine for proper consumption and usage of oil then, my current engine replacement needs to be covered under the recall of the PTU and any other possible engine problems with other Jeep Cherokee engine recalls. I would like someone to contact me and have a discussion with me and/or an attorney as I am considering now hiring one because of the safety risk of continued problems especially putting in another engine and having the PTU affect the engine again. Also mechanics are saying there is no way that this engine failed unless there was something else wrong upon installation of the engine or something else affected the operation of the engine, as in the PTU.Read more

The fuel injector valves started leaking resulting in a P0172 Rich Fuel mixture diagnostic code. When fuel injector valves leak gasoline into the engine oil it can cause an engine fire, severe damage to the engine and catalytic converter. My daughter was driving the car when this happened which makes me very upset that a known safety issue has not been addresses by the NHTSA or Honda. This effects
... millions of CRVs which is why Honda is fighting a recall and why the NHTSA must step in and fine Honda and force a recall. The potential for engines catching on fire should result in an immediate recall. When I talked to the Honda shop manager he told me that he is seeing several CRVs every week with faulty fuel injectors and quite frequently bad catalytic converters. This is a well-documented problem which makes me wonder why nothing has been done.Read more

This is being submitted again with supporting emails with the dealer. This is a entegra launch (owned by jayco) This complaint concerns failure to provide a remedy for multiple active NHTSA safety recalls, resulting in a vehicle that has been determined unsafe and inoperable. The vehicle is subject to NHTSA Safety Recall 24V-160 involving the house battery relay / contactor. During a January 7, 2
... 026 call between the servicing dealer (Lazy Days) and Jayco / Entegra technical support, the battery system was diagnosed as having a stuck contactor with no 12V output. Jayco / Entegra technical guidance instructed the dealer to shut down the battery and specifically advised that the battery should not be turned on or charged. The dealer was further instructed that the coach should remain at the dealer until a replacement could be obtained. As a result of this instruction, the vehicle has been rendered unsafe and inoperable. No manufacturer-directed repair or replacement timeline has been provided. In addition, the vehicle is also subject to NHTSA Safety Recall 24V-312 involving the fuel tank mounting bracket. This recall likewise requires dealer-performed remediation. No repair timeline or remedy has been provided for this recall either. Despite repeated contact with Jayco / Entegra, the manufacturer has stated that the vehicle is out of warranty and has declined to provide a manufacturer-directed remedy, referring the matter to a component supplier. Warranty expiration has been cited despite the existence of active safety recalls and a documented instruction not to operate the vehicle. The vehicle has been left at the dealer with no repair path, no timeline, and no safe method of operation despite active safety recalls. This complaint is submitted due to failure to provide a timely remedy for active NHTSA safety recalls.Read more

Driving on the highway, I slowed down from 65mph to 45-50mph due to standing water ahead of me, immediately after hitting water, the engine stumbled. Soon after the engine stopped running. In hybrid mode only, was not able to maintain speed. I noticed the smell of fuel in the cabin, I noticed my vehicle range dropping rapidly. The odor of unburnt gasoline was very strong and I had begun to get a h
... eadache and get dizzy, I had to open the windows while it was pouring heavy rain. Given the area had a lot of standing water, I wasn't able to stop safely. I was able to limp the vehicle in hybrid mode to a nearby uphill exit. Once stopped, I immediately left the interior of the vehicle for fresh air. If there was no shoulder and I wasn't literally next to a highway exit, I would be in deep sh**. After stopping, I checked the airbox to see if water made it into the intake. It was bone dry. Walking the right side of the vehicle I saw fuel on the ground. I called for a tow truck and they dropped me off at home. When I looked underneath the car and found the fuel line hanging free. The clip holding the tank and chassis fuel lines together was missing. I went to the local Toyota dealership and the technicians said it was not a warranty issue because it's impact damage and that I should talk to my insurance about fixing the car because it was going to be $3500 dollars to drop the prop shaft, transfer case, transmission, and other parts to replace the line because "toyota does not sell the clip alone". The line was $168 dollars. I probed further and they brought the price down to $118. Online, the fuel line is $56 dollars. I checked the Land Cruiser forums and multiple people have experienced this issue under identical conditions, others have found the clip loose during regular maintenance. This appears to be a dangerous design flaw. My 2012 Tacoma and 2016 Land Cruiser do not have these issues since they use common steel spring clips to hold fuel lines in place.Read more

2021 ford f150 PowerBoost hybrid. There is a LOT of internet chatter and forum chatter about KNOWN issues with the following, and it recently almost led to a major and likely serious injury accident. Specific Parameters: Low speed (~5 mph) slow roll Under internal combustion power, not battery In 2nd gear only When gas pedal is pressed vehicle does nothing. Does not respond. Two choices are t
... o hammer the gas, or hit the breaks. Does two things, slams forward eventually after 3-4 second delay if gas pedal depressed OR shifts down or into electric mode (internal combustion off) and then will once again go from first to third in normal acceleration progression and pace They must have an issue with the standard 1-3 skip programming with ICE power and 2nd gear being a hang-up I almost got T boned by a semi truck due to this with family in car. This could have been deadly. It happens as an annoyance at least once per day but this one was scary. Online, and based on what I can find - Ford is aware of this issue as they have the 1-3-5 programming in the transmission but when it finds itself (due to real world driving conditions) in 2nd gear under Internal combustion, it does not know what to do. I brought it to Ford last year in Anchorage and they are attempting to blame it on normal hybrid system operation. That is NOT the case. It would be something that could be duplicated but with effort. A basic, simple test drive is NOT going to find this. They are aware of this being an issue. If you have any situation where you are rolling through, merging into traffic, or other scenario where you end up in 2 under ICE you are in TROUBLE. Dangerous, scary, and totally a manufacturer issue that is known and needs to be taken VERY seriously.Read more

1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned? The low-pressure fuel feed line (Part No. 274-070-35-00) and its associated clamps connected to the high-pressure fuel pump. Availability: State: The defective hose is currently on the vehicle and is available for inspection. If the repair proceeds, I request the dealership to retain the failed part for my inspection. 2. How was your safety or
... the safety of others put at risk? The failure resulted in raw fuel leaking directly into the engine compartment. This creates an immediate and severe fire hazard, as gasoline is being released near high-temperature engine components. Furthermore, the strong odor of gasoline entered the cabin through the HVAC vents, exposing passengers to toxic fuel vapors while the vehicle was in operation. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed? Yes. The defect was confirmed by Mercedes-Benz of Orange Park (Dealer Code: 64111). The technician performed a 'cold start' inspection and verified fuel leaking from the low-pressure line to the high-pressure pump. > Note: My service advisor's admitted: Yes sir we will do the hose. 4. Has it been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance, or others? Answer: The vehicle has been inspected and the failure documented by an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership technician. It has not yet been inspected by insurance or police as no fire has occurred yet; however, the dealership has identified the part as defective. 5. Were there any warning lamps or other symptoms prior to failure? There were no warning lamps or dashboard messages. The primary symptom was a pungent smell of raw gasoline inside and outside the vehicle, specifically during cold starts. These symptoms first appeared recently [January 3rd, 2026] and became persistent as ambient temperatures dropped.Read more

The most recent occurrence happened on January 20, 2026. This was not the first time this issue occurred. During a prior incident involving the same loss of accelerator response and unpredictable vehicle behavior, my small children were passengers in the vehicle and became visibly distressed and worried. During the most recent incident on January 21, 2026, while driving through an intersection, t
... he vehicle entered a reduced power or “limp mode” condition and would not accelerate when the accelerator pedal was pressed. When the accelerator pedal was released, the vehicle accelerated unexpectedly and rapidly. Warning indicators related to electronic stability control and the high-voltage system were present. Diagnostic information later indicated loss of communication with the high-voltage battery systems. The vehicle behavior was unpredictable and felt unsafe. This occurred after the vehicle had been driven and was not limited to startup. Given that this issue has occurred more than once, including previously when my children were present, I no longer feel safe driving this vehicle.Read more

The vehicle has an ongoing safety-related defect involving the forward distance sensor. The distance sensor randomly turns off while driving, which disables critical collision-avoidance systems including Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Forward Collision Warning, and Intelligent Cruise Control. The failure is intermittent and unpredictable. The safety systems may appear functional and then shut
... off without warning, which creates a safety hazard because the driver cannot reliably depend on the vehicle’s crash-prevention features. The vehicle has been taken in for repair multiple times. The distance sensor has already been replaced once, but the problem continues to occur. In addition to the sensor issue, the vehicle has experienced multiple serious repairs, including replacement of the ECM, fuel pump replacement twice, battery replacement twice, engine oil pressure switch replacement, and other electrical-related issues. These repeated failures suggest an ongoing electronic or control system problem. At one point, the vehicle was held by the dealership due to the ECM being removed. A representative at Nissan of Murfreesboro suggested that I could pick up and drive the vehicle without the new ECM installed, stating it “shouldn’t” cause damage. I refused due to safety and risk of engine damage. Nissan Consumer Affairs has denied a buyback request and has only offered partial repair assistance, despite the safety system continuing to fail. The defect remains unresolved and continues to disable collision-avoidance systems while the vehicle is in operation. This issue presents a safety risk due to the loss of crash-prevention functionality without warning. I’ve had issues with the vehicle since I bought it in 2024. Nissan would only see my vehicle if I had a “video” since they have to have “proof” of the issue. Jan. 5, 2026 is the most recent time of me taking it in for the electrical light turning on and they said it’s internal failure of distance censor again.Read more

On January 16, 2026, the 2021 Atlas had a severe gas leak and a large pool of gas was observed underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the VW dealership in Bradenton, FL. After disassembly, the technician stated the #3 fuel injector had a severe leak and there was so much gas, he c
... ouldn't be certain if fuel injectors #1 and #5 may also have issues but recommended replacing all 3 fuel injectors and the fuel rail. The repair cost was $3300, which was not covered by my warranty as it expired 6 months prior. History of issue - shortly after purchasing the vehicle in June 2021, a gasoline smell was noticed when parked in the garage. On October 19, 2021, the vehicle was taken to VW in Bradenton for the gas smell, they could not replicate the issue and replaced the charcoal canister. After the replacement, a gas smell was still noticeable and taken back to VW. VW again said they could not replicate the issue and stated nothing was wrong with the vehicle. It was noticed there was a previous NHTSA investigation on this issue. This is a serious issue and the car could have caught on fire. A large amount of gasoline was leaking from this vehicle.Read more
