Went to park car in a park to drop daughter off and it sputtered out and stalled out of nowhere with no warning. I had received a lamp warning very sporadically prior to this and on occasion that stated 'reduced steering assist drive with care' this resulted in heavy steering for that drive until car was shut off and then it would go away and be fine again, fixed the car through Knudtsen Chevy due
... to a recall about a month before on the issue with the engine being turned off and it thinking it was still hot and still running the fan (even though the car was not running). Knudtsen fixed that issue. Low battery voltage light did not come on however battery was older so had battery installed at park to ensure the issue was not due to the battery. The oil was fresh and showed no issues, changed 2 weeks before fresh oil no issues found during service. When tried to restart the car it would think it would try to start and then sputter out and not stay in idle. Les Schwab left and called a mobile mechanic to bring the computer. Computer was hooked up and it would try to start, however, it would not know it was already running and try to start again on it's own...the codes that came up were the PO101 code came up for Mass Air Flow issue...and then the codes would go in a wild sequence of fail.....mechanic checked for loose connections around air filter, took air filter out and it was clean no issues, checked pipe no visible issues. We walked away and walked around the park to give it some time to sit and then we tried it again and it tried and sputtered out and died again would not stay idling. Then all of a sudden we heard it try to start itself without us trying to start it and it clanked. We hauled it to Knudtsen for a diagnosis. They stated "the motor will not turn this way or that way and it is seized or locked up". This is a 2021 with only 89,000 miles it should have a longer life than this. Please investigate and is there anything we can do to fix it?Read more

This past year I experienced catastrophic failure with my Bosch, CP4 fuel pump in my 2017 Ford F250 with a 6.7 L diesel. Recalls have been published by Ford, but not beyond a 2018 vehicle. After seeing metal fragments in my fuel water separator, I was forced to flush my entire fuel system, replace the CP4 fuel pump with a CDR high pressure pump (replacement), flush the entire fuel rail system and
... replace my fuel injectors. This repair cost me approximately $13,000. I find it difficult to understand why my 2017 vehicle was not included in the recall when it had the defective item as the later models had. The truck has 129,000 miles on it currently. Certainly, these are not excessive miles given the year of the vehicle. I would like to know what can be done for older models(the Bosch CP4 fuel pump goes all the way back to 2011). While driving in traffic, my 2023 Toyota Mirai suffered a sudden and total loss of motive power. The vehicle became completely unresponsive while in 'Drive', presenting a severe safety hazard. The dashboard displayed multiple cascading warnings, including 'FCV System Malfunction', 'Pre-Collision System Malfunction', and 'PKSB Malfunction'. The vehicle had to be towed to Dublin Toyota (Repair Order
... #653103). The dealership retrieved critical diagnostic code P1DC500 (FC AIR PRESSURE TOO HIGH) and verified the vehicle would not go into 'Ready' mode. The dealer opened Toyota TAS Case #TA26079027. However, the dealership performed no mechanical repairs to address the root cause of the sudden power loss. They simply cleared the safety code, test drove it, and explicitly wrote on the final invoice: 'ADVICE CUSTOMER TO DRIVE VEHICLE UNTIL PROBLEM OCCUR'. Furthermore, they refused to document my stated concerns that the vehicle is unsafe to drive. Returning a vehicle to a customer with an unresolved, life-threatening defect that causes total loss of power at speed is incredibly dangerous.Read more

Subject: Request for Buyback or Trade Assistance – 2020 Ford Escape SE To Whom It May Concern, I am writing regarding my 2020 Ford Escape equipped with the 1.5L engine, which is currently subject to multiple open safety recalls. Of particular concern is the active fuel injector recall involving a risk of engine compartment fire. I understand that the current remedy does not fully address the
... underlying defect and that additional actions may still be pending. In addition, my vehicle is affected by other safety-related recalls, compounding concerns about reliability and safe operation. Given the nature of these issues—specifically the fire risk and the lack of a complete and permanent repair— as well as a history of over 15 recalls on this vehicle, I am increasingly concerned about the safety, usability, and value of my vehicle. This situation has significantly impacted my confidence in operating the vehicle. Based on these circumstances, I am formally requesting that Ford Motor Company review my case for: • A manufacturer buyback, or • Substantial trade assistance toward a new Ford vehicle, or • Appropriate goodwill compensation reflecting the ongoing safety concerns and diminished value I would appreciate prompt review by a case manager and a written response outlining Ford’s proposed resolution. Please contact me at your earliest convenience to discuss next steps. Thank you.Read more

Brought F150 in for scheduled service - oil change. Also asked for inspection of a problem with the fuel door hatch that was causing "Refuel Error" messages on the instrument panel and several grinding noises every time the fuel release button was pressed. Note that I have an active extended Ford Premiumcare warranty. Dealership diagnosis was that the fuel door solenoid was bad, verified that t
... he gears could be heard grinding with this part. However, there is no separate motor part, therefore the entire fuel door assembly must be replaced. Ford warranty system does not cover this part because it is considered "Body and Structural". I called Ford Protect to discuss this, and explained the motor defect and problem, that this has nothing at all to do with wear & tear or body damage. They explained that in this case, the dealership should call and get the part pre-authorized with the justification. Seelye Ford called and tried to do this on 28 April 2026, but ultimately was still denied by Ford. The attached service report from Seelye describes the technician findings and confirms the bad solenoid and audible gear grinding sound coming from the fuel door assembly - and that the entire assembly must be replaced. As this is related to the fuel system and has a defective motor, this is an example a safety defect that should not only be repaired on this vehicle, but for other vehicles with similar problems. Note that the dealership also pointed out that Ford appears to have created this part layout with the intent of having the motor be a separate part, but ultimately did not offer that option, only a full housing replacement, which is excluded because it is mostly made of plastic and metal, which is considered to be structural in nature, despite being a part of the fuel system that has active motor buttons and instrumentation sensors for driver interaction.Read more

The component that failed is the fuel pump, which had previously been replaced under a manufacturer recall but is now failing again. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This failure has created a serious safety risk, as the car stalls while driving, begins to shake, makes abnormal noises from the exhaust, and then shuts off without warning, increasing the risk of an accident, esp
... ecially in traffic or at higher speeds. The problem has been confirmed by an independent auto repair shop, and I have an invoice documenting that the fuel pump is the cause of the issue. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or other third parties regarding this current failure. Prior to the failure, there were noticeable warning signs, including shaking, unusual exhaust noise, and intermittent stalling, which began shortly before the vehicle started shutting off completely while in operation.Read more

On 04/28/2026, when diagnosing a reoccurring check engine light on the vehicle at a Chevy Certified Service, the mechanic "Borescoped cylinder 4 and found significant scuffs on the cylinder wall which along with the misfires indicate a cracked piston. The big picture appears to be the piston cracked which caused excessive oil consumption and misfires. The excess oil and unburned fuel overloaded th
... e converter causing it to fail. The engine and converter will need to be replaced." In 2017, a recall was issued by GM to mitigate Stochastic Pre-Ignition (SPI) Causing Cracked Piston (17019). Between the initial purchase of the vehicle (11/2016) and performed service required by this recall (03/10/2017), there were approximately 5000 miles driven. No engine diagnosis was performed or recommended. After the 17019 was addressed, the engine misfires continued along with reoccurring CEL. C.S.P. N182195660 Predictive Monitoring for Stochastic Pre-ignition (SPI) released in 2019 states the 1.5 L LFV engines in certain 2016 and 2017 model year Chevrolet Malibu vehicles may have a preignition condition that requires immediate repair. This condition may cause the engine to perform poorly, misfire, run rough, and/or excessively consume oil. It may also illuminate the vehicle’s service engine light. Over time, if not repaired, the condition can damage the vehicle’s pistons and engine. The VIN for this Malibu was not attached to this notice despite it having SPI recall history. On 06/2023 (after the N182195660 program ended), at 80k miles a diagnosis revealed a potential cracked cylinder with no mention of the pre-ignition condition that could cause the crack, and the only way to fix is to replace the entire engine (as per dealer recomendation). Since vehicle was out of warranty, the repair est. was nearly $10k. I firmly believe my 2016 Malibu has suffered the consequences of poor mismanagement on this recall, and am demanding mitigation from GM to fix this issue.Read more

The vehicle experienced engine failure due to coolant intrusion into the engine cylinders. The issue presented with engine misfire, including diagnostic trouble code P0302, rough running, and coolant entering the combustion chamber. The condition was confirmed by a dealership, which determined that the engine has internal damage and requires full engine replacement. There were no external coolant
... leaks observed. This failure occurred at approximately 88,000 miles and was not consistent with normal wear and tear. The issue developed without significant prior warning other than engine misfire and rough operation. This condition may create a safety risk, as engine misfire and internal damage can lead to loss of power, reduced vehicle performance, or potential engine stall while driving. Technical Service Bulletins have been issued for similar vehicles equipped with the same engine, including TSB 19-2172, TSB 19-2208, and TSB 22-2229, which describe coolant intrusion into engine cylinders and require engine replacement. This suggests the issue is not isolated and may affect other vehicles with the same engine design.Read more

2024 Kia EV6 leased January 2025. Vehicle is subject to NHTSA Recall 24V-867 / Kia campaign SC327 for the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). The recall remedy was performed at an authorized Kia dealer in July 2025 (software / operational logic update). The defect was not cured. Three months after the recall remedy was performed, the vehicle suffered complete loss of electrical power and woul

The dealer's own diagnostic recorded code P1A9096 — the exact diagnostic code Kia's recall instructs technicians to check for — and replaced the ICCU and high-voltage fuse. This is the recall-defined failure occurring AFTER the recall remedy was applied. Approximately three months later, the vehicle again suffered total loss of power and would not start in cold weather. It was towed in. The dealer replaced only the 12-volt battery and did not address the ICCU, despite the documented prior ICCU failure on this VIN. The 12V battery failure is a known downstream symptom of ICCU failure on this platform. Approximately one month after that, the vehicle returned for charging system failure ("vehicle charges briefly then stops") and a "check electrical/hybrid system" warning that appeared while driving. Diagnosed as charging port failure. Vehicle was out of service approximately 27 consecutive days. Total cumulative days out of service across four visits: approximately 35-40. Two safety-related stranding incidents resulted from these failures. Both occurred in winter conditions in Pennsylvania. In the first, the driver was stranded in a parking lot at night during a snowstorm in sub-zero conditions; three tow trucks were dispatched before a flatbed could recover the vehicle because the EV could not be towed conventionally with no power. I brought the c
... ar to a Honda dealer and they confirmed that all of the fuel injectors needed to be replaced and said the fuel injectors are "faulty" and "from a bad batch." Lots of Honda forums online talking about faulty fuel injectors. A whole thread on 2017 CR-V fuel injector problems can be easily found online along with service bulletins for fuel injector problems (with the code P0172) for similar year, different model Honda vehicles. The dealership confirmed the fuel injector problem but then said they couldn't source the parts despite a "global search" and putting us on a "critical list." We then went to a competent independent mechanic who was able to source Honda OEM fuel injector replacement kit from a different Honda dealership (not sure why the first Honda dealership couldn't get the parts then...) The independent mechanic said the fuel injectors looked "terrible" and "definitely faulty." He sent us home with the old parts, which we have and could supply. Faulty fuel injectors affecting the propulsion system feels unsafe and the fact that Honda told us "you are out of luck" with regard to replacements was especially aggravating. We had no chance to pursue a goodwill repair of the issue even though our independent mechanic did find the parts at Honda in spite of the first dealership's claim of a global search. The service that was performed included replacing all fuel injectors and whatever is in the associated OEM kit. In summary, fuel injector problems caused ALL warning lights to come in, dealership confirmed problem, mechanic repaired, many reports of same issue online.Read more

I am writing to formally report a serious safety issue with my brand-new Jeep Grand Cherokee (got it from DARCARS Rockville, MD dealership) and to request immediate resolution under warranty and applicable consumer protection laws. I purchased this vehicle with the expectation of reliability, safety, and comfort for my family. Unfortunately, within a very short period of ownership, the vehicle ha

On 17th April 2026, while traveling at approximately 65 mph on a highway in Pennsylvania around 1:00 AM, the vehicle suddenly shut down without warning. This created an extremely hazardous situation for my family. We contacted roadside assistance, but no help arrived until approximately 8:00 AM. Due to freezing temperatures and lack of heat in the vehicle, we were forced to call 911 for assistance and were transported to a nearby hotel around 3:30 AM. The vehicle was subsequently towed to a dealership, where diagnostics were performed. We were informed that the issue was related to a coding or malfunction and that it had been resolved. However, just two days later, while returning home, the exact same issue occurred again under similar conditions—vehicle shutdown at highway speed. Once again, we were stranded at night, forced to rely on emergency services, and did not reach home until approximately 4:30 AM. This pattern of failure is unacceptable and represents a severe safety defect. My family’s safety was put at significant risk on two separate occasions. As a result, we have completely lost confidence in the vehicle’s reliability and safety. Immediate escalation of this case and a full technical investigation A written explanation of the root cause of these failures A permanent resolution to ensure this issue cannot recur Consideration of a manufacturer buyback or replacement under applicable Lemon Law provisionsRead more

Date of Accident: April 13, 2026 I drove into our church parking lot and then parked next to my husband’s car and was totally stopped and in the parking space. I thought I had my foot on the brake. After a split second, it accelerated and jumped the curb of the parking space at a very fast speed. I had no control of the car. I sheared off a heavy metal sidewalk railing and was headed for the br
... ick church (church is on a berm above parking lot), but I managed to steer away to miss the church and a large tree. I steered off the berm and into empty parking lot – still traveling at high speed. I finally threw it into neutral to get it to stop because it was continuing toward a busy street with lots of traffic. Neutral stopped it. No air bags deployed. The front and side of the car that hit the metal railing sustained $6,500 damage. Towed it to collision repair. When we asked at the Columbia, MO, Honda dealer’s service department, they said because the air bags didn’t deploy, that it was probably operator’s error and nothing they could do. We didn’t feel that it was operator error and reported to the assistant General Manager of Honda in a personal meeting. We asked to have the Honda field engineer exam the car. Instead, they had their district service supervisor exam the car. Their conclusion: they could find nothing wrong with the car. After reading online reports of almost identical accidents with this model, we decided it was too dangerous to drive and sold it back to the Honda dealer.Read more

SUBJ: Vehicle Safety Complaint – 2023 Cadillac Escalade Sudden Loss of Power I am reporting a safety issue involving a 2023 Cadillac Escalade ESV (VIN: [XXX] ). On April 19, 2026 (late evening into early April 20), while traveling approximately 70 mph on [XXX] , the vehicle suddenly and completely lost engine power without warning. This created an immediate safety hazard, nearly resulting in
... a collision. I was able to exit the highway, but the vehicle lost all acceleration and became disabled in the middle of a dark off-ramp with oncoming traffic approaching from behind. OnStar was contacted and Virginia State Police responded due to the unsafe location. A trooper remained on scene with emergency lights to redirect traffic and prevent a collision. Due to the hazardous conditions, the trooper arranged an emergency tow. I incurred $389.61 in out-of-pocket towing costs. The vehicle was taken to a tow yard, and my AAA Premier coverage then towed it 189 miles to Miller Brothers Cadillac in Ellicott City, MD. The dealership diagnosed catastrophic engine failure requiring full engine replacement at approximately 53,000 miles. There were no meaningful warning indicators prior to the sudden loss of power. This vehicle was purchased from Sons Chevrolet / Cadillac in Columbus, GA in December 2025 as a Certified Pre-Owned Cadillac and had already required multiple repairs shortly after purchase. The vehicle is currently at Miller Brothers Cadillac awaiting complete engine replacement and is available for inspection. This sudden loss of power at highway speed presents a serious safety risk and could have resulted in a severe accident or loss of life. Given the absence of warning and catastrophic failure at relatively low mileage, I am concerned this may indicate a broader safety defect rather than an isolated incident. I own a 2016 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel, VIN [XXX] . The vehicle has been in and out of Rydell Jeep & Ram dealership over 3 times in the last few months for fuel pump issues. It has been at the dealership for over a month total (in and out). Each time I have had to pay for towing and rental cars. I have not been reimbursed for any rental or towing costs. On April 11, 2026, immediately after picking up the
... truck from the dealership (where it had just been serviced for a previous fuel pump issue), the vehicle suddenly lost all power while I was driving on the freeway and would not restart. It was towed back to Rydell. On April 23, 2026 at 9:30 AM, Bruce (service advisor) and Mike (mechanic) at Rydell verbally admitted to me that their original diagnosis was wrong. They had initially said a gear inside the engine that turns the CP4 fuel pump had come loose or failed. They now admit that diagnosis was incorrect, but they refuse to provide that admission in writing. They are now trying to charge me for the repair. I believe the actual root cause is that the CP4 high-pressure fuel pump seized internally. That seizure would have placed extreme resistance on the engine's drive gear for the pump, causing the gear or its retaining bolt to fail as a secondary consequence. The pump seizure is a known safety defect in these EcoDiesel vehicles. Because the dealership has admitted the original diagnosis was wrong, and because this failure happened immediately after fuel pump-related service, I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this as a safety defect. The sudden loss of power at highway speeds is extremely dangerous. I also request that any existing recall or investigation (such as NHTSA Campaign 22V406000 a INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

5th generation (2017-2022) Honda CRV displaying ALL driver assistance system errors (stability control, cruise control, emergency anti-collision etc), check engine light, tire pressure monitor malfunction, parking brake, and some other lights. *OBDII scan reads back P0303* Battery was replaced in 2025, and has never tested at low voltage. ... running). Spark plugs replaced 04/26/2026 with OEM NGK plugs with OE Gap 0.030". Drove car for 10 minutes and lights didn't go away. Upon researching, this appears to be a "replace all fuel injectors" job. Which also appears to be a fairly COMMON issue in these CRVs. My concern is that the misfire is disabling all driver safety systems and forcing the car into limp mode, and seems to be manufacturer error/negligence in terms of part reliability/quality. These parts are also on a 6-9 month BACK ORDER because of how common the issue is. Honda released "Service Bulletin 19-032" as a means to make dealers aware of the issue but I find this dishonest to the customers and Honda owners who purchase the vehicles on the promise of reliability. Please look into this issue, as it seems to happen just outside of warranty on these cars. Honda scarcely giving out goodwill refunds/assistance for THEIR factory-issue.Read more

This complaint documents three deficiencies in Mercedes-Benz's recall response for recalls 25V487 and 26V073. First, the BMS software update applied under 25V050 reduced my vehicle's range by approximately 20% and degraded charging performance without adequate disclosure to owners. Second, Mercedes-Benz delayed notification to U.S. owners after fires occurred in already-remediated vehicles in Euro
