On August 2, 2024 I was driving my 2022 Ford F-350 7.3L on the interstate when I experienced sudden loss of power, engine was sputtering, obviously not getting fuel in my opinion. Engine eventually quit, and I came to rest on the side of I 20/59. No check engine light or other warning lights were ever illuminated during this episode. After 10-15 minutes of attempting to start, the engine finally r
... estarted and I continued approx. 50 miles to my home with no further issues. On Aug. 14, I took my F-350 to Town and Country Ford in Bessemer, AL. Their Service Dept ran several diagnostics, tested fuel pressure, ethanol content, checked for misfire issues and road tested. No problems were found. Odometer at the time was 26,183. In July 2025 I received a Recall Notice from Ford (NHTSA Recall 25V455) for possible loss of fuel pressure due to fuel pump failure. Today (December 8, 2025) I attempted to contact Ford to get an update on the Recall, was provided no updated information (automated system only, live person was not an option). Also contacted Town and Country Ford Service Dept. for any knowledge they may have, which was none as well. I do not drive the truck every day, primarily due to not wishing to get stranded far from a repair facility (current odometer 38,000). I am filing this complaint to hopefully expedite Ford's response to a problem they have been aware of for over a year if not longer, and certainly since July 2025. The absence of any updates is infuriating for an issue that could become catastrophic.Read more

Vehicle: 2016 Kia Sorento, VIN [XXX] Incident Date: November 13, 2025 Incident Location: Durham, NC (3828 Guess Rd) Cause of Loss: Engine Fire, confirmed by Durham Fire Department Report (Incident #253663) as "originated from under the hood." TECHNICAL NARRATIVE & SYMPTOMS (CRITICAL FOR LIABILITY): I am filing this complaint to report a catastrophic vehicle fire that I believe is directly linked
... to multiple acknowledged manufacturing defects that create a fire risk in Kia vehicles. ABS/Traction Control Light Warning (Direct Fire Risk Symptom): Immediately prior to the loss, the ABS and Traction Control warning lights were constantly illuminated. This is a known precursor symptom for the defective Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU) or ABS Module short-circuit, which has been cited in numerous Kia fire recalls (e.g., NHTSA 20V019, 20V519). The fire's origin under the hood is consistent with this component failure. Prior Engine Failures (Systemic Defect History): This vehicle has a history of catastrophic manufacturing defects: The engine assembly was replaced in 2023 due to the known Theta II Rod Bearing Failure. The knock sensor was replaced in September 2025 as part of the KSDS Product Improvement Campaign, demonstrating the vehicle was still under active service for critical engine monitoring defects just weeks before the fire. Potential Tow Hitch Wiring Fire Risk: The vehicle was fully engulfed, but the fire may also be linked to the defect cited in NHTSA Recall 22V703 (tow hitch wiring harness short circuit, which also poses a fire risk). I require a full investigation into this defect leading to compensation for the total loss of the vehicle and consequential damages. I am reporting a series of safety-related defects involving the electrical, cooling, and fuel systems of my 2021 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid. The vehicle was initially brought to the authorized Porsche dealership due to an electrical system error, and the dealer kept the vehicle for an extended period. After approximately five months, the vehicle was returned to me without a clear explanation of the
... root cause or details of the repair. The very next day after receiving the vehicle, a coolant temperature warning appeared while driving, indicating abnormal engine overheating. This created an immediate safety hazard, as overheating can lead to sudden engine failure, loss of power, or a potential fire risk. I returned the vehicle to the dealership again for further repairs. Afterward, another serious issue occurred: because this is a hybrid vehicle, I went to refuel, but the fuel door would not open, and a fuel system error warning appeared again. This made the vehicle unsafe to operate, especially while already on the road. Due to these repeated failures, I was required to tow the vehicle multiple times. These problems — electrical malfunction, coolant overheating during driving, fuel system errors, and a non-functional fuel door — occurred repeatedly even after prolonged service by the dealership. The combination of electrical faults, overheating risk, hybrid system malfunction, and fuel system failure presents a significant safety concern. I will provide additional documentation to support this report. I request that NHTSA review this case to determine whether an investigation is warranted, as these issues may indicate a broader defect affecting this model.Read more

Car will not shift and shutters, this is putting myself and others at risk. The problem was confirmed by a dealership. There is now a check engine light in the vehicle
Incident date: Dec 4, 2025
I purchased this vehicle used in August 2025 from the estate of a friend's relative. The records show it was meticulously maintained and no recall notices have been unaddressed. The prior owner used it infrequently and it still has just under 90k miles. There were no major engine issues when my local repair shop (over 12 years and 3 vehicles) inspected all systems, and the vehicle passed for PA st
... ate inspection and emissions. However, driving more, I noticed that the brakes would intermittently become "mushy" or "hard" and overall less responsive. I needed to use a lot of force to fully stop over a longer distance. There was also a hissing noise while braking and sometimes the cabin air fan would blast on suddenly. Then, while stopped at a red light and applying the brakes, the engine shut off and check engine light came on. My mechanic detected O2 sensor codes P2195/P2197 indicating "stuck lean." But nothing about the brake booster, and so we cleaned it up a bit and tried to get more of an understanding of the issue. Now I know that the compromised engine vacuum from the booster air leak is impacting the fuel/air balance. Extremely unsafe. This has now happened MANY times while I try to get a good diagnosis and help. It's scary, and makes city driving very challenging. On multiple occasions I feared I would hit other vehicles or would have to "creep" at a light to alleviate the airflow issues from braking. If I have to be at a light for more than a moment, I will put the car in park and foot off the brake. I'd rather risk being honked at or hit, than have the engine dying on me in traffic. When I was able to get to a dealership, I was informed that it was the brake booster. The first thing I found when looking up that part for the 2013 Ford Edge was the recall. The dealership says my VIN was not covered, but it seems more than coincidence that this is the exact problem, now confirmed by the dealership. The part is faulty, and should be replaced by OEM.Read more

Dear NHTSA, On two separate occasions—May 2025 and December 2025, approximately six months apart—I experienced fuel leaks from the upper fuel filter on my 2017 F-350 while driving. Both filters had previously been replaced with genuine Ford parts. I am deeply concerned that my safety was compromised during these incidents. In both cases, diesel fuel was leaking down the engine compartment wit
... hout any warning indicators or alerts on the dashboard. The only indication of a problem was the smell of fuel, which I initially assumed was external. It wasn’t until I stopped the vehicle that I discovered a steady stream of fuel leaking. The most recent occurrence happened while I was on vacation, approximately 650 miles from home. There were no prior symptoms or warnings, making it extremely difficult to detect while driving, as the smell dissipates in the wind. In my opinion, this represents a significant safety hazard. Diesel fuel streaming down a hot engine could easily result in a fire, posing a serious risk to both the driver and passengers.Read more

The Diesel Exhaust Fluid system on my 2016 Range Rover Sport has a recurring defect that triggers the warning “Incorrect Diesel Exhaust Fluid Quality Detected” followed by a “No engine starts in XX miles” countdown. This defect has happened repeatedly over several years despite multiple repairs including injector replacement, injector housing replacement and eventually a complete DEF tank
... assembly replacement. The failure always returns. This defect disables the vehicle and creates a safety risk because the car will eventually refuse to start, which can leave the driver stranded without warning. The problem appeared again this month, and the vehicle displayed the countdown message even though only OEM DEF fluid was used. Land Rover’s own internal service bulletins describe this issue, but dealerships have been unable to permanently repair it. I was instructed by Land Rover corporate to bring the vehicle in for a goodwill review, but instead I was told I would need to pay for diagnostics, and corporate later stated they would not cover repairs at all. A respected independent garage reviewed my service records and told me the dealership should have performed a BlueDEF regeneration procedure. They also told me this is a known and continuous problem on these vehicles and that it will never go away without a redesigned system. This is a long-standing emissions-related defect that repeatedly renders the vehicle non-operational and forces owners into unsafe situations. There is no permanent fix available through the manufacturer or dealers. I am submitting this complaint because this defect is widespread on Land Rover diesel models and carries clear safety and reliability consequences.Read more

My fuel was low so I went to fuel up and after wards, my car struggled really hard to start. And every time since that days it’s progressively gotten worse. Last week I kept my car running while I fueled up and as I drove away from the gas station, my car just stalled out completely. It took me about an hour and a half before my car would start again. I was waiting for the tow truck to come get me and thank God inc checked it one more time and it started. Now just recently, when I put my car in park the engine immediately Reva up super high. In August 2025, my 2017 Audi A3 (VIN [XXX] ) experienced repeated stalling, strong gasoline odors inside the cabin, and a check engine light immediately after Audi completed recall-related service. The safety issue was later confirmed by the dealership to be caused by a failed suction jet pump (NHTSA Recall 24V110), which allowed fuel to enter the EVAP system and leak into the rear seat area and c
... abin. The leak was so severe that the rear seat and flooring had to be replaced due to fuel saturation. Before the problem was properly identified, I was repeatedly told the issue was “just the gas cap,” despite reporting fuel smell, rapid fuel loss after filling the tank, and the check engine light. During this time, I unknowingly drove a vehicle with a significant fire hazard. The cabin fumes caused physical symptoms and unsafe driving conditions. I was not notified of this recall at the time I purchased the vehicle in March 2022, nor was I notified of a second recall affecting the passenger occupant detection system (69BY), despite having purchased a one-year maintenance warranty. I only became aware of the recalls after experiencing the hazardous symptoms described above. The problem was confirmed and reproduced by the Audi dealership. Fuel odor, fuel loss, and warning lights first appeared within 24 hours after the initial service visit, and the safety defect was later linked to the recall-related component failure. This defect presented a serious risk of fire and exposure to gasoline fumes to both myself and other road users. UNKNOWN ; I believe that my Jeep Wrangler 4XE in connection with recall : A7C/NHTSA 25V-710 created this safety hazard. Around the end of October / Beginning of November my Jeep performed a software update like it does from time to time and within a few days the vehicle shut off completely without any prior warning. I was driving to work, luckily on a side street going 20 miles an hour pulling
... away from a stop sign and the vehicle just straight up dies. Lights, engine, electronics, power steering, everything was unresponsive. I managed to pull off of the roadway and had to attempt multiple times to restart the vehicle. After a minute or so of being in park, it started right up and kept driving. A few days later after limited use of the vehicle, there was a software update again and I assumed it was for that and kept using the vehicle. This experience put my life in danger as well as others. Should circumstances of my travel been different and this would have occurred on a freeway, the outcome could have been tragic for myself and others on the roadway. This experience together with the other 2 severe safety recalls with no remedy, have led me to feel so uncomfortable even having the vehicle in my possession due to a recommendation from FCA, Mopar, and the NHSTA to (A. Not charge the vehicle to lower the chance of a tragic lithium ion battery fire that can occur during normal operation creating a hazard for all occupants including minor children, but also during the vehicle being parked. Leading to (B. A recommendation to not park the vehicle close to structures or other vehicles. Which in my situation is impossible at home and at work. And (C. The risk of the engine being contaminated with sand from the casting process which can lead to catastrophic engine failure, which can start a vehicle fire or cause an accident without prior warning. ... ccurred at 70 mph on the freeway shortly after leaving Rairdon’s Fiat in Kirkland, WA, where I had been told the car was repaired. Both events created a serious safety risk, especially the freeway stall where a collision from a fast-moving vehicle or commercial truck could have been fatal. The specific component that failed is unknown. The vehicle has now been at Ron Tonkin Fiat’s service department for more than two months, and any inspection would need to be arranged directly with them. On Nov 5, 2025, the Service Department Head at Ron Tonkin, Terry Bryan, confirmed he was able to reproduce the stalling issue and said a diagnostic code was present, though he did not tell me what it was. The vehicle has been brought in for this issue four times and has been inspected by Rairdon’s Fiat and Ron Tonkin Fiat. It has not been inspected by police or insurance. After the first stall, multiple warning lights began randomly flashing briefly while driving, and every time the car was charged a “Service Electrical System” warning message appeared. There were no warnings before either stall occurred. There is an open case with Fiat Cares. I have been trying to register my vehicle in California for several months, however, in order to do so, I need the car to pass SMOG. Initially I was told that the issue was related to an emissions sensor and that I had to drive the vehicle a few more miles to get the sensor to register properly. This turned out not to be the case. A short time later, the fuel gauge completely stopped working.
... I took it to an authorized Audi repair shop that told me the issue was related to a the "Fuel Tank Sending Unit". That part was replaced by the repair shop, however, the issue persisted. The authorized repair shop is now telling me that it the entire tank needs to be replaced in order to fix the issue.. I have searched and this seems to be a common issue among Audi vehicles; the sensor stops working and the gauge stops responding. Audi seems to know that this is an issue. Can this possibly be investigated.Read more

All the warning lights came on. I took the vehicle to the dealer for diagnosis. They told me that the problem was the fuel injectors. The vehicle only has 40,000 miles. They said there was a factory problem with the programming in the ECU and they are aware of the problem. They have issued an extended warranty for this. They now refuse to honor the warranty because my title is a salvage title. A s

Vehicle: 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Manufacturer: Stellantis / Jeep Recalls Involved: •High-Voltage Battery Fire Risk Recall (park-outside / do-not-charge) •Engine Casting / Sand Contamination Recall (Recall 68C) — risk of sudden loss of propulsion and fire NHTSA Case: If referencing dealer/Jeep case → Case #94839085 Mileage: [insert mileage] VIN: [insert VIN] Complaint Description: My 2024 J
... eep Wrangler 4xe is currently subject to two serious safety recalls: (1) a high-voltage battery recall requiring the vehicle to be parked outside and not charged due to fire risk, and (2) Recall 68C involving engine casting/sand contamination that can lead to unrecoverable loss of propulsion, engine failure, and potential fire. Jeep has notified me that no repair is currently available for either recall and has provided no estimated timeline for a remedy. As a result, I have been advised not to drive or charge the vehicle. This has left me with a vehicle that is unsafe to operate, unsafe to store, and unusable for daily transportation. I contacted Jeep Customer Care and the dealership for assistance. Jeep has only offered a limited 30-day reimbursement-based rental that requires me to pay out–of–pocket and does not cover the full period during which my vehicle is unsafe and unrepairable. Jeep has not provided a loaner or replacement vehicle despite the indefinite loss of use. This situation raises serious concerns because: •The vehicle cannot be safely driven, •There is a real risk of engine failure or fire while driving, •There is a risk of battery fire even while parked, •A remedy is unknown and unavailable, •Jeep has not provided a safe, usable transportation solution. I am filing this complaint because I believe the severity of these defects, the lack of an available remedy, and the manufacturer’s inadequate interim support pose a significant safety risk to me, my family, and the public. I am requesting NHTSA to review this matter.Read more

Recall 25V-741 (Manufacturer Recall 68C) affects my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe. The recall notice states that, due to potential high-voltage battery cell separator damage, the vehicle may catch fire even when powered off. Jeep instructs owners not to charge the vehicle and not to park inside garages or near structures. There is no remedy available, and Jeep has stated that remedy identification
... may not occur until Q1 2026, with additional delays expected for parts and repairs. As a result of these instructions, I am unable to store the vehicle safely at my home, since my residence only has attached garage parking. My workplace garage has also prohibited these recalled vehicles from entering due to fire risk. The vehicle is currently kept at the dealership because it cannot be safely stored. Jeep’s interim support is insufficient. They offer only $60/day rental reimbursement, which does not cover a comparable vehicle, and only $50 per rental period in taxes, leaving owners with significant out-of-pocket costs while their leased vehicles cannot be used for an extended period. This places owners in the position of either paying significant out-of-pocket expenses for an unsuitable rental vehicle, or continuing to park, store, or charge their vehicles in ways that contradict Jeep’s fire-risk guidance. While the recall is not labeled as a “stop drive,” the instructions functionally prevent safe use or storage of the vehicle. I am reporting this because the current interim guidance and lack of remedy create ongoing fire risk and practical safety issues for owners with no safe place to store the vehicle and no adequate interim solution.Read more

In November 2024, my 2022 Kia EV6 became suddenly non-drivable due to electrical failure consistent with a repeat ICCU/12-volt system malfunction. The vehicle would not start or maintain normal electrical power and became stuck in accessory mode, creating a loss of propulsion and complete loss of transportation. This vehicle previously experienced an ICCU failure earlier in 2024 that required dea
... lership repair and battery replacement. After that repair, the vehicle again developed electrical failure symptoms, including loss of 12-volt power and inability to operate. Due to the unsafe non-drivable condition, Kia Roadside Assistance directed and arranged a tow to a Kia dealership. Upon arrival at the dealership, new undercarriage and wheel-well damage was documented within approximately 90 minutes of drop-off. This damage was not present prior to towing and is located where tow equipment attaches. The vehicle remains in the possession of the dealership and is available for full inspection. The electrical failure created a safety risk because the vehicle became immobilized without warning and could not be safely operated. There was no advance notice or driver-caused event. The failure resulted in complete loss of vehicle function. The vehicle has been inspected by a Kia dealership, and I have been working through Kia corporate and roadside providers since the incident. The vehicle remains out of service with unresolved electrical issues and unresolved damage resulting from the manufacturer-directed tow.Read more

The catalytic converters for the Ford Explorer Utility Police Interceptor fail prematurely, degrading the emissions from the vehicle and causing the vehicle to fail emissions testing. Although Ford has implemented a Customer Satisfaction Campaign 22M06, they do not inform owners of the campaign or potential problem. My car was inspected by two Ford dealerships who simply cleared the error code (P0
... 430) and made no mention of Campaign 22M06. The error code persisted as I replaced numerous other components (spark plugs, purge valve, oxygen sensors, Mass air flow sensor) trying to alleviate the problem over the last year. Only if you mention the campaign specifically will they inspect the vehicle for the purpose of replacing the the catalytic converters under warranty. Replacing these failing catalytic converters should be a recall because failure creates substandard emissions for thousands of vehicles.Read more
