The metal gas tank shroud (cover) on the bottom of the car is completed rotted away and there is no longer anything protecting the gas tank from rupture. This was brought to my attention by an automotive service center as well as my own visual inspection. My understanding this shroud not only protects the tank but also helps support it to the car.

Bosch high pressure fuel pump failure at 76K miles. Resulted in being stranded out of state. Dealer could not repair the fuel pump after having the vehicle for over 1 month. Dealer stated fuel pump under warranty. Dealer claimed contaminated fuel was the cause but could not prove it. Warranty denied.

Engine shut off on the interstate with no warning. Would not re-start. Forced to cross lanes on traffic with no engine power or power steering. Dealer stated it was the "Fuel Pump Control Module."
