I was driving my 2024 CX90 PHEV when a warning about an electrical leakage in the hybrid system was detected. I brought it home and parked in my garage. I called the dealership and they told me to bring it in. When I started to leave, the car would not shift out of park and bricked up. A towing service had to drag it out of my garage. My concern is that there is no limp mode or any way to swit
... ch to the gasoline engine when this happened. Had there been a fire in the battery, I would not have been able to get it out of my garage, putting our house and children at risk. Also, had it locked up on a highway, an accident could easily happen. After the dealership dragged it off of the rollback, they couldn’t even get the car to move. They told me that they would have to order special tools to be able to get the car to move. Along with the steering recall that worked for about a month, the steering rack had to be replaced, and the failure of the electrical system, I feel like this car is unsafe to drive. Thank you.Read more

Over the last several months the vehicle developed a strong fuel odor in the engine compartment after being driven. I took it to the Honda dealer to identify the cause on 8/30/24, they kept the vehicle for 2 days and were unable to find a problem although they also observed the strong fuel smell. Their recommendation was to return with gas tank less than half full so they could check that. Fue
... l smell is clearly in the engine compartment, so I took the vehicle to my local mechanic who used a camera to localize the smell/leak to the top of the engine. They recommended removal of the manifold to diagnose further and identified a significant leak between the high pressure fuel pump and the injectors. They replace the fuel joint pipe, six injectors, and high pressure fuel pump cover which was saturated in fuel. Two areas of concern. First, there is clearly an unadressed leak problem with the fuel joint pipe. It is mentioned in several places on the NHTSA site for this Ridgline model and several related model designs. While this vehicle did not catch fire, a significant leak on the high pressure side of the high pressure fuel pump is a clear hazard and should be analyzed to identify the root cause. Second, Honda needs to proactively address this with their dealer technicians. I have no way to verify if they actually disassembled the top of the engine to access the high pressure fuel pump, fuel joint pipe, and injectors, as they told me, but it didn't take long for my local mechanic to identify the issue once they did. Bottom line is this problem is real, occurs frequently enough to appear as an issue reported to NHTSA and will not be easily identified by scanning the vehicle codes which is apparently what the dealer standard practice is.Read more

BMW issued an extended warranty of 15 years/150k for a pressure control valve (PCV) failure for certain years/models that included my vehicle. While driving, the PCV failed causing a loud high pitch noise and white smoke billowing from my exhaust. Such an immediate failure while driving of this PCV valve should have been subject to a recall given the sudden and unexpected failure. I travel a lo
... t for work and if this would have happened while travelling and out of town, it would have been a more serious incident in addition to the inconvenience. After have the PCV replaced, my vehicle's RPM's would drop at startup when put in reverse and/or back in drive, causing the vehicle to stall and jerk forward. This problem was never an issue prior to the PCV failure. Since the replacement my car has stalled numerous times placing myself in danger of having to hurriedly restart my car and "gun" the accelerator to prevent another stall. Because of this issue which I correlate directly to the PCV replacement, I am now being told the software needed to be updated. However, instead of being considered part of the PCV issue, they are charging 200 dollars to remedy. I'm sure others have reported issues similar to mine. Bottom line is that this whole issue should be subject to a recall and covered by BMW before someone's car stalls resulting in serious damages and injuries to vehicles and persons.Read more

On September 1, 2024, I was driving my Giulia over a busy 4-lane overpass. An error code related to the fuel system flashed on the dashboard, and the car stopped nearly instantly in the lane where I was driving. Upon seeing the error code, I was not able to pull over into the breakdown lane - it was that sudden. Attempts to restart the vehicle failed. My wife (who was a passenger) and I quickl
... y walked off the overpass to relative safety and called for a towing service. The police initially thought that the car was left in the way of traffic in the middle of a travel lane, rather than being pulled over into the breakdown lane. I had to explain that my Giulia stopped too quickly for me to be able to pull into the breakdown lane. The vehicle was towed to a local mechanic that same day (September 1st, 2024) who confirmed the failure to restart the vehicle but declined to perform any work, referring me instead to Alfa Romeo service. The vehicle was towed to an Alfa Romeo dealership on September 23rd, 2024, where it sits to this day (November 1st, 2024). The dealership reports that the failure is due to a known issue - a defective fuel pump and associated control module. The dealership reports that they have the new fuel pump on hand, but that the associated control module is still unavailable. The dealership is unable to provide a date when the control module will become available. Looking back, I shudder at the thought that my wife and I were less than 1 minute from getting onto the I495 interstate.Read more

It is progressively getting worse where my fuel injection is not working and when trying to accelerate and merge into traffic it bogs down and i almost get hit by the car behind me.

I am the owner of a 2017 Ford Focus vehicle. Recently, I have encountered multiple occurrences of stalling while driving on the highway. In two of these instances, I was in the process of passing a semi-truck and fortunately had no other vehicle behind me, or my safety and that of others may have been put at great risk. After the first incident, the check engine light appeared and was addressed by
... a mechanic who believed it was likely the result of a vapor lock. The issue later reoccurred and left me stranded on the interstate in a rural location where I had to wait for several hours before being transported to a nearby hotel. The vehicle started again the following morning, and I was able to finish the trip. After conducting some research, I discovered two separate recalls (identified by the NHTSA Campaign IDs 18V735000 and 19V515000) that had been issued for cars of this model and encompassing the year of my vehicle’s construction. The malfunction, as issued by a mechanic, fit the exact specifications of the recall; that is, malfunction of the canister purge valve, causing excessive vacuum in fuel vapor management systems, that can result in an engine stall while driving and without warning. I was surprised to learn that my vehicle’s VIN was not associated with any such recall; however, I was informed by my mechanic that a software update (18s32) had occurred on June 6, 2019, possibly removing association of the recall statement with my vehicle’s VIN. I am unsure at this time of the extent of damage to the carbon canister, fuel tank, and fuel delivery module. The only issue visible from the exterior is a slight depression of the fuel tank caused by excessive vacuum. The canister purge valve was replaced on September 10, at a cost of $270.03. Due to the nature of the incident and its exact resemblance of the recall issued, I would like to seek compensation for the replacement of the defective purge valve and further inspection of the carbon canister, fuel tank, aRead more

On several occasions over the last several thousand miles, several issues have developed (all without warning at the time of first occurrence). At random times the engine will shut off when lifting out of the throttle. The car will run out of fuel before the fuel gauge is on empty or the "Miles to Empty" indicator state there are more miles to empty. Additionally, when shutting off the car to fuel
... at a gas station, the car takes up to a minute of cranking to re-start. When it starts, it will randomly shut off for the first several minutes unless throttle is applied before it shuts off. On 10/30/24 when driving with the gas gauge and range to empty indicators not on empty, the car stalled when beginning a slight climb, leaving the car stranded at night in the left most lane of traffic. This suggests fuel tank deformation. When issues started, the Canister Purge Valve was tested and found to be working correctly. It appears Recall 18V-735 is the issue here. Every symptom related to Recall 18V-735 is being experienced ("malfunctioning Canister Purge Valve (CPV) that can stick open and a Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software that does not adequately detect a stuck-open CPV. A CPV that is stuck open in these vehicles can cause excessive vacuum in the fuel vapor management system, potentially deforming the fuel tank. If this occurs, the customer may observe a Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL), inaccurate or erratic fuel gauge indication, drivability concerns or loss of motive power."). Expanding this recall to cover 2018 Ford Focus with the 1.0L Ecoboost seems prudent as Ford should update the PCM to avoid drivers of this vehicle being stranded in unsafe situations.Read more

I took in my car for the fuel pump recall on October 4th at Clawson Honda Fresno. I took it home the same day and the next day my car was stalling and shut off on me. I took my car back to Clawson Honda on October 8th and they scanned it and said the fuel pressure was low. They cleared the codes that they claimed were unrelated to the recall and wanted to charge me 390 for diagnostics. I refused.
... My car is still stalling in the road and many of the dash lights come on. The car wont let me accelerate. I took it back to Clawson Honda October 30th because this issue was not present prior to the recall. We just received a call that the fuel pump that was replaced is making the other components work harder which is causing it to stall. This is all clearly caused by the recall but they want me to pay 1500 out of pocket to have it fixed. Which is unfair. I submitted a complaint to Honda corporate but they still say we have to pay dealership fees. My car was working fine before the recall and Im frustrated that it was returned to me in worse condition. This was all because of the recall fuel pump and the issues are all connected so I shouldnt have to pay.Read more

With PHEV battery at 0%, it's normal for the gas engine to kick in. What's not normal is when the infamous BCEM propulsion system failure happened. First, it shut off the ICE engine and reverted to EV mode when I have 0% charges left. The system also reduced power to the car. Luckily, I wasn't on the freeway, or this could end up really badly. I was at the point where I could no longer acce

On 10/10/2024, my Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe (hybrid) had a battery fire at my home. After this incident, I read that Jeep/Stallantis is

Knowing this could have prevented this and any other similar fires, but I did not receive notification of the recall until 10/21 by mail. I receive emails from Jeep/Mopar weekly for useless information such as extended warrantees, so immediate notification should be simple. In fact I even made an appointment for an oil change on the same day as the fire and after a search for recalls, I was given NO information about this. Jeep is now investigating the incident, but Stellantis will not provide me additional information and this process may take months. This is in addition to complaint # 11621324 The dealer now says it is the FUEL PUMP MODULE that is bad. Same item as on previous recall. They either did not test fuel pump properly, or, fuel pump was not bad, only the module. Or,
... if bad, the module caused the fuel pump to fail. Either way the fuel pump should be covered under this module recall too as a related cause from the faulty module(s) that were recalled.Read more

Honda placed a recall for the fuel pump on my vehicle and did not notify me. I was notified by my insurance. They tell me the part is unavailable and they will call when available and then tell me they still don’
... t have it after 90+ days. They are refusing to replace the catalytic converter even though that’s the error code coming up and I am under the federal warranty for it. They are trying to charge me to fix my fuel injectors for the second time in less than a year and won’t cover the cost even though it could be a direct connection to a faulty fuel pump.Read more
