I have a 2020 Kia Telluride that I bought brand new from Kia. I have performed regular maintenance on the vehicle and performed the repairs required by any recalls. When my vehicle surpassed 75k miles, the vehicle started having issues with excessive oil consumption. I had my vehicle serviced at 75k miles with the oil changed. When my vehicle was passed 79k miles, the vehicle started stalling, pi
... ston misfiring, and engine started vibrating. I took it into the dealer, and they performed diagnostic tests. The determined pistons were working fine but my oil level was very low. This was around 4k miles after my oil change. Kia requires oil changes every 7500 miles. I had the dealer change the oil. Once again, when my vehicle was approaching 4500 miles, the vehicle started to vibrate, piston was not filing properly. I checked my oil level, and it showed very minimal oil on the dip stick. The oil level was well below that was needed for the engine to properly operate. I put closed to 5 quarts of oil to get the engine to the oil level it needed. I am concerned that the excessive oil consumption can lead to the vehicle stalling on the road resulting in collision with other vehicles resulting in bodily injury or harm. According to Kia the oil consumption is fine. How is consuming 5 quarts of oil in 4500 miles fine when the manufacturer states oil changes are required every 7500 miles? The engine itself has a capacity of 6.9 quarts. At the rate my engine is burning oil, I would need over 7.2 quarts of oil to drive 7500 miles. Additionally, having an engine continuously operating with low oil would result in engine damage and thousands of dollars in repairs. The problem I am having in my vehicle is experienced by thousands of Kia Telluride owners. It's the same problem Kia has had in the past with other models. Kia is trying to avoid repairing their defective vehicle and placing the burden on the consumer.Read more

The 90 degree fittings(integral to the fuel pump) on top of the fuel pump cracked and leaks gasoline leading to a potential fire that could cause bodily injury for the driver and passenger. It is noticeable because of strong gasoline smell inside and outside of the car. There are many of the same complaints from Smart Car drivers in various forum.

UNKNOWN I received the notice that there was an active recall on my 2018 Honda about the 1.5 Fuel Pump. I have scheduled several appointments to fix this, only for Honda to cancel all appointments related to the recall, stating they didn't have the part. I was headed to work, and every light on the dashboard that could come up, came up. There were several warning lights from brakes, transmissio

2 days after purchasing my vehicle I was driving getting my speed up approximately 45 mph when the vehicle started to lunge forward and nothing was under the gas pedal and it stalled. I pulled it over to the side of the road. It started back up within 2 to 3 minutes. Drove fine for about another 20-25 minutes and then did it again. I put fuel treatment in it. This is an update to my original NHTSA complaint submitted on May 5, 2025 (complaint number 11658852), regarding a complete electrical failure in a 2024 Cadillac Lyriq. While parked in a garage, the vehicle experienced a full shutdown—rendering all systems inoperable, including the door locks and windows. Most alarmingly, a [XXX] child was trapped in the back seat due to the doors being electro
... nically locked and unresponsive. The dealership has since diagnosed the failure as a cable routed improperly near the steering column that had rubbed against a component and snapped. This severed connection resulted in the complete loss of vehicle power and emergency functions. Since that time, I have discovered multiple similar reports from other Lyriq owners online describing full system shutdowns, locked doors, and failures to start—many of which are shared on public forums such as Reddit [XXX] ). This suggests that this may not be an isolated case but rather a potential systemic defect in the Lyriq's wiring harness design or electrical architecture. I am extremely concerned that this failure mode could occur while driving, particularly at highway speeds, and would result in loss of steering, braking assist, and emergency exit options. I urge the NHTSA to investigate this issue further to determine whether a recall or manufacturer communication is appropriate. This vehicle is currently with the dealership, and I have refused delivery until GM provides formal safety assurances. My 2016 GMC Sierra 2500 with a 6.6-liter Duramax diesel V8 engine suffered a complete engine shutdown—an issue that is both hazardous and expensive to repair. Fortunately, mine failed in a parking lot. No warning lights or symptoms were present. Failure is instantaneous and can occur any time rendering the vehicle inoperable on high-speed highways, Intersections, etc. Failure always leaves vehi

The 6.6-liter Duramax diesel V8 engine is equipped with a Bosch ‘CP4’ high-pressure fuel pump. These pumps are unreasonably fragile and prone to catastrophic failure causing instant contamination of the entire fuel system with metal shavings. General Motors has agreed to pay $35 million to settle with owners following a class action lawsuit that accused the company of installing defective Bosch CP4 high-pressure fuel pumps in certain Chevrolet and GMC pickup models. This action covered only owners in California, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, New York, Pennsylvania, or Texas.Read more

They said for me to call Cadillac directly, which I did. Cadillac opened a case for me, and told me I would receive a call in 1-2 days. I called back on day 3, and was told that I have to wait for the person who was assigned to my case to call me. They informed me that it may take a while because Cadillac had cut the help center's (including recall department) work hours to save money, while they should have been increasing it during this massive recall. I had brought my vehicle multiple times in 2024 to the Route 23 auto mall prior to me receiving a recall notice. The check engine light kept coming on and off and they told me that there was nothing wrong with my vehicle. I then received a recall notice in around the end of July 2024 and contacted them to complete the recall. I brought my vehicle in August 2024 and they told me that they would not
... be receiving the parts for the recall until March of 2025. I was told that I can still drive the car until then as it was not a safety hazard. That same day I went home and parked my car in front of my house. I was leaving to go to work and the car would not start. I had to call a tow truck to tow the car to the dealership. The manager told me that I would need to get a new motor and it would only take a few days. I asked for a rental car in the mean time. I then got my car back with the new motor almost 6 months later. I picked up my car from them and they gave me a certificate for the new motor. Fast forward to April of 2025 and my car again would not start. I had to have it towed to the dealership once again and this time it took 3 weeks to get it fixed. They said that the hose was ripped in half which causes anti-freeze to leek. They told me that it had nothing to do with the recall and that I had to pay $200.00 out of pocket. The car is still not fixed as per recall because the same parts were put on the car. My vehicle is covered by GM Special Warranty 17469 which relates to cracks and fuel leaks at the primary fuel pump module flange. It caught fire while driving at a high performance driver’s education event at Barber Motorsports Park and was denied coverage due to it having modifications. GM case number 9-15085163081. There were no warning messages displayed at any time during the incident. GM ha
... d the vehicle inspected by a “neutral” third party which turned out to be a retired GM service center instructor. None of the modifications on the vehicle affect the fuel pump module flange. This is in violation of the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act. The basic facts regarding the incident are as follows: the fire was a fuel fire, the vehicle had normal fuel pressure until I shut the engine off 2 minutes into the incident, the fuel line fittings are melted in the normal seated position, the fuel tank flange is cracked and fire damaged, the most significant fire damage is at the top of the driver’s side fuel tank (the location of the warrantied and currently cracked flange), the fire was not from any of the pressurized fuel lines. I have video from the vehicle of the incident prior to engine shutdown, pictures during and after the incident of all affected areas and components, and data logs of all vehicle parameters up to engine shutdown. These facts point strongly to the initial source of the fuel fire coming from the affected flange at the top of the driver’s side fuel tank. It is completely unacceptable that GM issued an extended warranty (and then denies coverage) for this known fire hazard vs issuing a recall. This is extremely unsafe and will lead to a loss of life if not corrected.Read more

All proximity keys refused to lock, or unlock, the vehicle. The only functional method was one of the card-keys supplied by Polestar. This safety issue completely erodes my trust that I will be able to gain access normally to my own vehicle, but may have to use my phone, or a backup card key (necessitating I carry two keys at all times). This issue has once reoccurred since retrieving the vehicle. Lastly, the driver door was not able to be opened from the exterior. When accelerating at highway speeds there is a significant power lag when the vehicle switches from between the internal combustion engine (ICE) and the electric motor causing deceleration in the vehicle. This is typically followed by a sudden surge in power causing rapid acceleration. This causes unpredictable speed and makes merging onto highway traffic difficult. When this issue occurs the "
... Service Hybrid Electric Vehicle System" warning lights illuminates. After several miles, the warning will turn off, but this occurs off and on when changing lanes, merging, or braking in heavy traffic. This typically only occurs at highway speeds when the vehicles transfers between ICE and Electric power frequently and has not been observed at normal city street speeds. The sporadic acceleration performance makes this vehicle dangerous to drive at highway speeds unless the electric motor is turn off. The car has been returned to the dealership numerous times to address this issue as it is still covered under warranty. However, they have informed us that "The code present in the car is currently under investigation by Chrysler. The Chrysler representative told us not to change any parts until Chrysler makes a decision on a potential recall." I had to drive all the way home with my hazard lights on. There were no lights on the dashboard to signify a problem. This happened several times. ... and again. and again. finally got an error "possible condition with your engine control module". Took it into the dealer and after they drove it around for hundreds of miles they said they were able to recreate the problem, pulls some codes and relaced the fuel injection pump. It happened again. and again. and again. I took it back to the Hyundai Service center. They could not re-create the issue. They told me to use Chevron gas only and added an additive to the car. It worked for a while. Then it happened again. And again. I took it to a different Hyundai Service Center. They were not able to re-create the problem. Apparently, every time I drive the car, after 5-10 minutes on the street roads, the car fails to accelerate and I have to pull over, stop the car, and then re-start it. Re-starting it seems to clear the issue. I am driving in SMART mode and my car is at 39000 miles. Every time I take it to the service center, they can not re-create the issue. This is outrageous. Do I need to get into a car accident in order to bring legal action to Hyundai for not fixing this loss of power/failure to accelerate issue? ... cause. Even Toyota-certified dealerships could not determine the issue. Additionally, any time I drive over 70 mph, the car displays a message telling me to take a break, then it begins to jerk and drive erratically, clearly a safety hazard. This problem has occurred repeatedly and poses a serious risk of accident on the highway. This issue is widely reported among 2018 Corollas and matches symptoms from Toyota’s known fuel pump recall. I’m shocked that Toyota has refused a goodwill repair and won’t inspect it under the recall. If the fuel pump is failing, it puts drivers and passengers at serious risk of being stranded or worse—losing power at high speeds. Please investigate this and consider expanding the recall to cover more 2018 Toyota Corolla VINs before someone is injured or killed due to this known and dangerous defect.Read more

I had the fuel pump recall (NHTSA ID 24V-113) performed on my 2019 Honda CBR600RR at a certified dealership. After the repair, I discovered multiple serious safety issues that made the motorcycle significantly more dangerous than it was before the recall: The fuel tank vent line was crushed under the tank during reassembly, completely blocking the vent system. This caused a vacuum lock that m
... ade the fuel cap impossible to open after riding, creating a risk of fuel starvation, fuel pump failure, or even tank deformation. The fuel level float arm was improperly installed and became jammed against an internal pipe inside the tank. The result is a fuel gauge stuck at “Full,” giving no indication of actual fuel level and preventing safe monitoring or refueling. When I contacted the dealership, they told me to ride the bike 30 miles back to them — despite the tank being sealed and the fuel level unknown. I also contacted Honda Powersports, who stated they have no responsibility and that only the dealer can address the issue, despite this being a federally mandated safety recall. I have not yet corrected the problem myself due to the serious safety implications and the need for proper accountability. The technician errors during this recall service introduced a more immediate and severe crash risk than the original defect the recall was intended to fix. Attached are photos showing the fuel level sensor float arm hung up on a hard pipe inside the tank, and the repair order from the dealership which performed the repair.Read more

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding ongoing and persistent issues with my 2020 Chevrolet Blazer. The vehicle has exhibited repeated problems that I believe may indicate a broader safety or mechanical defect, and I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate these concerns further. Since purchasing the vehicle, I have experienced the check engine light turning
... on and off repeatedly, without consistent resolution. The following issues have occurred over time, all seemingly related to the engine or control systems: Engine Cooling System Failure: The first major issue involved the engine cooling system. This caused the vehicle to overheat and required service. I was concerned about the potential for engine damage or fire risk due to excessive heat. Variable Valve Timing (VVT) System Malfunction: Shortly after the cooling system issue, the vehicle began experiencing problems with the variable valve timing system. This not only affected performance and fuel efficiency but also caused the check engine light to illuminate again. Steering Control Assist Sensor Warnings: Most recently, the steering control assist sensor has started to malfunction, with warnings frequently popping up on the dashboard. This has impacted steering feel and raises serious safety concerns. Despite multiple service appointments and repairs, these problems persist or reappear. This cycle of temporary fixes without a lasting resolution is both frustrating and concerning from a safety standpoint. I am requesting that the NHTSA look into whether these recurring engine and control system issues are part of a known defect or recall-worthy problem affecting the 2020 Chevy Blazer. Thank you for your attention to this matter.Read more

I recently began hearing a strange noise when starting the engine of my 2018 Honda Odyssey Elite. While driving, I also noticed reduced acceleration and a change in engine sound when pressing the accelerator, indicating a performance issue. I took the vehicle to an authorized Honda dealership, where they diagnosed the problem as a malfunctioning fuel pump and recommended a full replacement. I am
... aware that Honda has issued fuel pump recalls affecting a number of vehicles, including some 2018 Odyssey models. However, when I checked my VIN, it showed no active recalls. Despite experiencing the exact symptoms associated with the recalled fuel pumps, I am being asked to cover the full cost of replacement—approximately $1,700—including parts and labor. I believe this may be the same defect covered under the broader fuel pump recall and request that Honda reevaluate whether my vehicle should be included. I am requesting either coverage of the repair under warranty or a goodwill repair to address what appears to be a known issue.Read more

Two (2) times (6-weeks apart) while on Freeway, loss of power and some shaking occurred, making it difficult to bring vehicle to a safe stop. Vehicle has only 80k miles, low for a Lexus brand. Other cars moving at freeway speeds made it more dangerous to stop vehicle safely without getting hit. Failure in both circumstances was related to fuel injectors, cylinder no. 4 at first then second failure
... six weeks later was on cylinder no. 2, the fuel pump appears to be a known problem on these cars and many Toyota/Lexus models. Low fuel pressure is stressing the injectors to the point of ultimate failure. My wife and kids nearly crashed on the freeway on the first incident, the vehicle with reduced power makes it difficult to control at freeway speeds. Vehicle is well maintained, no warnings were evident, immediate failure occurred. Dealer where vehicle was purchased indicated no alerts/bulletins were evident, repair shop (not dealer) also indicated no bulletins were evident on the first incident. Second failure, another local Lexus dealer indicated no alerts/bulletins where evident of any problems associated with the failure. When escalating issue to OEM/LEXUS Brand Engagement Center, they were able to confirm (they were able to read the failure code when the repair shop connected to the vehicle) the failure mode symptoms was associated with a fuel pump alert. Why both Lexus dealers did not know this is odd. My vehicle has been at the dealer now for over 30 days with no feedback from Lexus on the repair. This failure condition at freeway speeds is a "Safety" risks, Lexus should take this seriously, the fuel pump and weakened injectors should be recalled before someone gets hurt. Please help NHTSA!Read more

Within the last few months, my 2015 Outback has been unreliable with the fuel gauge indicator, causing me to run out of gas three times, stranded roadside, with supposedly 30 miles in rank. Fortunately, there were no accidents, but two out of three times, I was left stranded on highways, that put me at risk of being struck.
