On 17th April 2026, while traveling at approximately 65 mph on a highway in Pennsylvania around 1:00 AM, the vehicle suddenly shut down without warning. This created an extremely hazardous situation for my family. We contacted roadside assistance, but no help arrived until approximately 8:00 AM. Due to freezing temperatures and lack of heat in the vehicle, we were forced to call 911 for assistance and were transported to a nearby hotel around 3:30 AM. The vehicle was subsequently towed to a dealership, where diagnostics were performed. We were informed that the issue was related to a coding or malfunction and that it had been resolved. However, just two days later, while returning home, the exact same issue occurred again under similar conditions—vehicle shutdown at highway speed. Once again, we were stranded at night, forced to rely on emergency services, and did not reach home until approximately 4:30 AM. This pattern of failure is unacceptable and represents a severe safety defect. My family’s safety was put at significant risk on two separate occasions. I steered off the berm and into empty parking lot – still traveling at high speed. I finally threw it into neutral to get it to stop because it was continuing toward a busy street with lots of traffic. Neutral stopped it. No air bags deployed. The front and side of the car that hit the metal railing sustained $6,500 damage. Towed it to collision repair. When we asked at the Columbia, MO, Honda dealer’s service department, they said because the air bags didn’t deploy, that it was probably operator’s error and nothing they could do. We didn’t feel that it was operator error and reported to the assistant General Manager of Honda in a personal meeting. We asked to have the Honda field engineer exam the car. Instead, they had their district service supervisor exam the car. Their conclusion: they could find nothing wrong with the car. ... a collision. I was able to exit the highway, but the vehicle lost all acceleration and became disabled in the middle of a dark off-ramp with oncoming traffic approaching from behind. OnStar was contacted and Virginia State Police responded due to the unsafe location. A trooper remained on scene with emergency lights to redirect traffic and prevent a collision. Due to the hazardous conditions, the trooper arranged an emergency tow. I incurred $389.61 in out-of-pocket towing costs. The vehicle was taken to a tow yard, and my AAA Premier coverage then towed it 189 miles to Miller Brothers Cadillac in Ellicott City, MD. The dealership diagnosed catastrophic engine failure requiring full engine replacement at approximately 53,000 miles. There were no meaningful warning indicators prior to the sudden loss of power. This vehicle was purchased from Sons Chevrolet / Cadillac in Columbus, GA in December 2025 as a Certified Pre-Owned Cadillac and had already required multiple repairs shortly after purchase. The vehicle is currently at Miller Brothers Cadillac awaiting complete engine replacement and is available for inspection. This sudden loss of power at highway speed presents a serious safety risk and could have resulted in a severe accident or loss of life. ... truck from the dealership (where it had just been serviced for a previous fuel pump issue), the vehicle suddenly lost all power while I was driving on the freeway and would not restart. It was towed back to Rydell. On April 23, 2026 at 9:30 AM, Bruce (service advisor) and Mike (mechanic) at Rydell verbally admitted to me that their original diagnosis was wrong. They had initially said a gear inside the engine that turns the CP4 fuel pump had come loose or failed. They now admit that diagnosis was incorrect, but they refuse to provide that admission in writing. They are now trying to charge me for the repair. I believe the actual root cause is that the CP4 high-pressure fuel pump seized internally. That seizure would have placed extreme resistance on the engine's drive gear for the pump, causing the gear or its retaining bolt to fail as a secondary consequence. The pump seizure is a known safety defect in these EcoDiesel vehicles. Because the dealership has admitted the original diagnosis was wrong, and because this failure happened immediately after fuel pump-related service, I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this as a safety defect. The sudden loss of power at highway speeds is extremely dangerous. Upon researching, this appears to be a "replace all fuel injectors" job. Which also appears to be a fairly COMMON issue in these CRVs. My concern is that the misfire is disabling all driver safety systems and forcing the car into limp mode, and seems to be manufacturer error/negligence in terms of part reliability/quality. These parts are also on a 6-9 month BACK ORDER because of how common the issue is. Honda released "Service Bulletin 19-032" as a means to make dealers aware of the issue but I find this dishonest to the customers and Honda owners who purchase the vehicles on the promise of reliability. My husband cleared the code (P0087)so the vehicle was free of warning lights so he can drive to the dealer next morning. We brought the vehicle to Honda dealership for diagnosis. However, the issue could not be reproduced during an inspection due to code (P0087) was cleared and couldn't reproduce the code which directly indicates Fuel Rail Pressure Low. Given the safety nature of this condition and the fact that it occurs while driving, I and requesting an investigation into whether this may be related to a known defect of incomplete resolution of prior recall -related repairs. This includes both the Level 2 charger I installed new at my home upon purchasing the car, and commercial Level 2 chargers. The home charger would repeatedly show a fault that the vehicle was ending the sessions. Over the following months, the condition progressively worsened from intermittent to near-total loss of AC charging capability. The vehicle can still DC fast charge. Dealer diagnosed the failure as a defective BCCM requiring replacement at a cost of approximately $6,700. This is a known and documented issue: Jaguar has issued TSB SSM75883 (NHTSA Document MC-10227452-0001) addressing I-PACE vehicles unable to charge with BCCM fault code U3000-49, and TSB SFCC Jul20_11 (NHTSA Document MC-10178140-0001) for the 2020 I-PACE specifically. The dealer never followed up regarding the rental. Instead, the dealer contacted me to appraise my current vehicle and discuss new vehicle inventory. The recall work was never discussed. When I did not appear for the appointment, the dealer did not follow up or offer to reschedule. I then contacted Stellantis customer service directly and explained the situation, including the active brake booster symptom. The Stellantis representative connected me with a second dealership, Bill Snethkamp Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram on Woodward Avenue in Detroit, Michigan, then disconnected from the call without notice. I was left explaining the situation a second time to a dealership that informed me they do not provide loaner vehicles. The rental option requires me to pay out of pocket upfront and then seek reimbursement from the manufacturer in the form of a check. This is not a viable option. Additionally, this dealership is located approximately one hour from my residence in Flint, making it logistically impractical for recall service. The failures consistently occurred midway through long road trips at refueling stops in Tonopah, Beatty, and Hawthorne, Nevada. During these incidents, the vehicle was completely unable to accept fuel, causing significant distress as I was nearly stranded with young children in remote desert areas with limited resources. I barely managed to reach my destination on the remaining range.
